N95 8GB Nokia MAPS System Error

Guys,
When I try to load the application on my phone, I am getting System error.
I still have a warranty. Do I have to service it or reinstall it myself.
Thanks

Hi denskits
Nokia Maps is pre-installed with firmware so perhaps try a "hard reset" after backing up essential phone data in case of software corruption.
As advised previously you could also check with Nokia Software Updater to see whether option to update or re-install existing firmware is present.
There is probably a more recent version of Nokia Maps v2.0_3204 available for your N95 8GB to download here, although whether it will install if problems with original installation is another matter:

    Hi Nick,
Not certain what is causing the problem, but I do know that your phone needs to download maps, so you should connect using GPRS or Wifi to download the maps and then you should have maps for your locality, but you will need to connect again if you move outside of the locality. The best advise I would say is to get an internet add on for your phone so you won't be charged extra.
you may be able to download maps and load them on also. You may also need to turn off the network assisted GPS so you are only using the built in GPS not the internet to find where you are.

  • N97 Nokia maps "System error" / google maps won't ...

Since my N97 was unboxed Nokia maps has refused to load, it just beeps and says "System error". That's it! Any clues on how to get this working? It's pretty annoying as it's one feature I was looking forward to using.
Funnily enough I installed google maps and that won't open either, but there's no error message, it just makes the screen blink once then back to the menu.
    Any advice appreciated

  • Nokia Map Loader Error in connection

    Hi Guys,
I have an N80 and have the MAPS software installed on my phone and the Nokia Map Loader software on my Laptop. However, in order for me to download the maps I have to connect my N80 to my laptop in Data Transfer Mode and then run Nokia Map Loader. This should then allow me to download the Maps. I get an error when connecting to my laptop in Data Transfer Mode. It just says Invalid usb connection or something like that. No I don't think it is the maps software but I would like to know if any of you had the same problem before and how it can be resolved. I sent a note to Nokia Tech team to see if they know but it takes a while for them to get back to you.
So, does anybody know how I can get past this or get the MAPS downloaded?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

can´t connect nokia map loader, error, won´t work?
I had this same problem, found your post looking for an answer (lol), and I just SOLVED the problem ; )
First, you don´t connect in data transfer mode. You must use pc suite mode, or it won´t work.
Second, (and this is the tricky part), YOU HAVE TO INSTALL nokia maps on your smartphone (so far ok, we all know this), but then you have to RUN THE PROGRAM ONCE.
Don´t ask me why, but if you just install nokia maps, then try to connect with nokia map loader, it won´t work. You have to install the program then run it once. Exit the program, then connect to you pc (nokia map loader) with pc suite mode.
BTW, do NOT install nokia maps on your smartphone on the phone memory. ALWAYS USE THE CARD MEMORY, install nokia maps on your memory card, because the maps are so huge. Most phones won´t have enough internal space.
So this is it, no more suffering. Damn, I´m good ; )

  • Nokia N95 8GB network unlocking invalid error

    Hello
I have the Nokia N95 8gb, and have had it on vodafone for nearly 18 months. I am changing network, they gave me an unlocking code. I have put this in and get a message "invalid operation"
they warned in their email to me that I should not keep entering tge code as it could lock up entire phone, but have not told me what I can do.
    Can anyone help, Please

If it is like my old N80 you will only get 3 attempts to unlock it, third time will lock the phone completely and make it useless, I tried twice and it failed both times, then not wanting to brick the phone on the third try i took the easier option went to ebay and bought a chip to fit under the sim, worked first time.

  • Nokia Maps Downloader Error

Hello. I have an E-72. I was able to download the maps perfectly with ovi maps version 3.03, and then I installed version 3.04 beta but didn't like it so I switched back to 3.03. I cleared the maps using nokia map loader. When I tried to download them again, they all download except for Saudi Arabia (which I had before). I even hard reset my phone but still keeps doing the same thing, downloads and midway through, says "item: 52f40.cdt" "Message: File couldn't be uploaded. The file or folder might be in use."....and the Nokia Map Loader says: Download Error..An error has occured while downloading data to your phone"....and then Nokia Map Loader freezes. I even deleted the cities folder and re-installed both map loader and ovi maps. I'm using a mac if that makes a difference. Please help.
    Thanks

    Thanks
Delete the entire cities folder and qf file on the root of your memory card.
Run the Ovi Maps application on your phone (it will re-build the cities folder and qf file). Exit the application.
    Download the map you want.
    Saudi Arabia
Now you must extract the contents of this zip file to your MicroSD.
Extract contents of the file to cities\diskcache (overwrite / replace files if prompted; it's completely normal).
    Download the Index file.
    Index Asia
This is for offline searches for the entire Asia region (which Saudi Arabia falls under).
Extract contents of file to cities\diskcache\ClientIndex (create ClientIndex folder if it doesn't exist. Overwrite/ replace files if prompted)
    Now you need Voices.
See the Voices section of this topic
(you may also prefer to grab entire continents instead, which is covered there).
Disconnect the phone. Start Ovi Maps on the phone.
    You should have it working.

  • Nokia E61 system error, phone start-up failure

Good day I did a software update(RM89) on my E61 phone. After completion and start up my phone gave me a system error and then phone start up failure. How can i reset or go in to safe mode to rective to problem?

The only things you can try are:
    1) Read this post in the Pool of Knowledge:
    Recovering from a failed update
and 2) Take your phone into a Nokia Care Point. Note that if your phone is still in the warranty period and it got bricked as a result of using NSU, the repair is covered under the warranty.

  • NOKIA N97 SYSTEM ERROR AND MENU NOT OPENING

I have a N97 which is a far cry from the N900. Anyhow, of recent when I try to access the menu a message pops up saying "System error" - so, I cannot access any of the other functions through Menu and, quite honestly, I don't know how else to access the menu. Any ideas or suggestions to resolve this would be appreciated!

Apart from loss of data I would probably suggest carrying out a "hard reset" upon this device, which is chronically short of phone memory:http://mynokiablog.com/2009/07/18/how-to-hard-reset-your-nokia-n97/

    3. What files should I be restoring on my phone after the hard reset. Data only or the settings as well?
    4. Please confirm the sequence of steps to be followed:
    a. Back-up phone
    b. Remove memory card (?)
    c. Make hard reset
    d. Restore back-up (only Data ?)
    e. Inset Memory card now (?)
    f. any other steps to follow (?)
    1) Are you backing up via Ovi Suite as well as to memory card? Sensible to remove memory card prior to reset although should not be necessary.
    2) You may get prompt that application has not been installed and to go to application manager; at top of list there may be unrecognisable string letters/numbers as title but you will get confirmation of what application it is prior to installation when you click on it.
    3) Provided everything was working satisfactorily prior to reset there should not be issue restoring data and settings.
    4) a) Backup phone via Ovi Suite & to memory card
         b) Remove memory card
         c) Reset device
         d) Insert memory card and follow any instructions about unable to install applications
         e) Restore device from memory card
I would install new version of Ovi Maps quite early in restoration process to satisfy yourself that it is working.
I plan to back-up using Ovi Suite on to my laptop.
You suggest that I should also back-up to the Memory card. Please advice how to back-up to the Memory card.
Point no. 4 e) "Restore device from memory card" - I don't understand the meaning. Please can you elaborate.

  • Nokia N96- "System Error" Message

Every time I want to access the clock eith through the short cut key or the menu I am having the "System error message". I have been advised by technical support to reformat the phone but still having the error. Before sending it back for repair, is there anything else I should try? Thanks in advance for your help.

I think people here would also have advised you to reformat the phone. If you tried that to no avail then I suggest you take the phone in to your nearest Nokia Care Point.

  • N95 with Nokia Maps

How do I update my maps app to the latest version, 2.0?
    Thanks

    Hi
May be wrong but think I read somewhere that if you update your N95 to latest V30.0.015 it will have Nokia Maps v2.0_2602, but it will decline to install latest v2.0_3204 available for some reason; don't know whether license manager has anything to do with it.

  • Nokia X6: System error

    Hi,
I get system error message when I try to change my network settings as follows:-
menu --> settings --> connectivity ---> destinations --> "system error".
I have tried the restarting the phone (taking battery out), but still I get the same error.
Can't use WLAN and the phone automatically connect to Packet data (vodafone).
Did anybody else also faced similar problem, please help.
    Regards,
    Diksha.

    Hi Diksha,
    Please try following:
    - Backup device either using Ovi Suite or Backup application in device: Menu > Applications > Office > File Mgr. > Backup
    - Restore Factory Settings (Dial: *#7370# and enter Lock code – default code is 12345)
    - Once device up and running again check if you can now open Destinations (if can, re-create WLAN access point and see if can use it).
    - If operator settings are not automatically created use Settings wizard to get them; Menu > Applications > Sett. wizard
    - Now you can restore data from backup if needed but do NOT restore settings!
