N95 8gb switches off while taking a backup with co...

Hi All,
I have Nokia N95 8gb with FW 30.x. There is some problem when I try to backup my phone using the content copier on PC suite. The phone just switches off when it reaches the point of backing up device specific settings.
It shows a green tick for messages,calendar,notes,bookmarks etc. Then it fails at settings point. It successfully creates a backup files which is about 12 mb only. My previous backups have been in the region of 170+ mbs. So, something is definitely wrong here.
One other weird thing I notice when I bring up the 12 mb file for restoration, it only allows me to restore "user files from the phone memory". Even though it showed green tick for calendar,messages etc...it dont seem have been backed up.
I'm desperate to get this working. Any help will be appreciated.Thanks.

well...strange as it may seem but I was finally able to take a backup of my phone. I could do it on another PC of mine running XP and having a very old version of PC suite - 6.83.X
I'm still not able to get it working on Pc suite 7.x and nokia ovi suite 1.1 on Vista

I was researching the issue you are having and recommend a couple of things. First it might be a good idea to reset the device following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't quite get the device going again, I recommend restoring the device.

Might even be a good idea to turn off the phone, reseat the SIM card, and turn it back on.

The issue is related with a lock while trying to backup the controlfile.
The lock is more likely caused by the autobackup controlfile process started just before RMAN process was also trying the backup controlfile as shown in the following alert.log excerpt.

MacBook Pro switches off while plugged in

Today my MacBook Pro (Nov 2010, 13") just switched off while I was working on it. Adaptor was plugged in. Computer wasn't completely switched off, I still got the little white sleepinglight (not blinking) when I closed it, but the screen was completely black. I have got creative N200 256MB Recently, but after using it for few days it starts giving problem,
I have got an problem that i cant access the MENU BUTTON , when ever i try to open the menu it directly get switched off, also i cant change the mode towards the MP3, because of this problem, so what shall i do ? , also i was using Sony 256 MP3 player but due to quality i have shifted towards creative i thought that it is much better then Sony, Panasonic and apples (iPod), That i will get better quality

I don't understand your logic. If you already used the battery for many hours, then it is likely to be quite weak. Alkaline batteries die gradually, and there might be enough power to get the player to play for a while, but not to switch functions. Try a fresh battery and tell us if you are still having a problem.

Some unix can fix the directory entry if you do it before the last process closes the file and you have the appropriate tools and expertise. Google for your OS. Here's one that just happened to be the first that came up for me: http://linuxshellaccount.blogspot.com/2008/08/recovering-deleted-files-by-inode.html
If you can't do that (and it surely isn't something to depend on if it even works), you need to restore the previous one that you do have, all intervening archived logs, and recover. You probably want to export anything that might be in that file if you can, before you do anything else. As soon as Oracle closes it, it will be gone.

N95 - display switches off

Hi, I have a problem with N95 display - when the lcd light is on, it works.... but as soon as the light goes off, the display switches off... so there is no screensaver with time and sms/missed calls icons... Even during a call, after a few seconds (exactly as I have set in settings to switch off light) the display switches off... Do you have any idea where could be the problem, please? The LCD was changed, so does there exist a possibility, it is a faulty LCD?

If the display is working ok when active, then there is unlikely to be anything wrong with it, check the settings in personalisation. Menu>tools>settings>general>personalisation>themes>power saver, and tick Date and time !
