N95 8gig Vs N96

so has anyone passed on the N95 8gig and bought the N96 ?
apart from the extra memory is there any other advantages ?
if anyone here has got one ( N96 ) i'd be interested to know what they think of it .....

It has a newer operating system with newer features.
It can handle more video file formats.
More memory for running programs making it faster.
You can video in the dark because it can use the flash as lights.
It looks a lot nicer than the N95 8GB.
It has mobile TV (country dependant).
Better quality sound.
But it has one negative, it's battery is smaller than the N95 8GB's battery but it's claimed that it has improved power management. Obviously no one has tested that yet.
If you are looking to buy a phone now get the N95 8GB or the N82, if you are wanting to buy a phone towards the end of the year then you will have to decide if you want more features or better battery life.

Nokia n95 8gig occasssional crashes

My Nokia n95 8gig Randomly crashes and i have to take out the Battery for it to work again.. very frustratingas i miss out on call's msg's etc thinking phone is on and its actually dead.
This usually happens when my phone is idle for a few hours.
it is only 6 months old .
should i reformat ?any suggestions gretaly appreciated.

It can be fixed mate but i'd ask at a Service center as trying to fix them yourself could end up with you mucking the slide mechanism up which you don't want.

Corrupt mass memory of n95 8gig

my n95 8gig that i bought last month has a big problem... it suddenly corrupts and when i try to format it with my unit there is a message what should i do? is this a factory defect or something... vince

*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
*#7370# - Reformat your phone
This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. Turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button.
re-flash - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service.
you will lose your data. first do you have the latest firmware and is your phone unlocked and unbranded. do the firmware check via NSU (Nokia software updater) if there is an update you should update your phone. Try all these codes listed above, reformat should work for you but you will lose all data unless you did a back up prior to your memory getting corrupted

Custom Voices for n95 8gig

Hi i recently bought the new nokia n95 8gig.I am very happy with the phone and after abit of messing around i got the gps to work perfect.
But my question is: Is it possible to download custom voices for the n95.I no its possible on other sat navs.

It is difficult to tell with those buttons. You could have accidentally bumps again something while it was in your pocket or a drop of water may have dropped in around the button.
The fact that the dedicated camera button no longer works has me a little suspicious. When you have the camera function activated this dedicated is used to take a photo. Does it even do that anymore? If not then I think your next port of call should be a Nokia Care Centre.

Slider issue nokia n95 8gig

had my n95 8gig just 4 day's ( purchased 1/09/08 ) and already the slider is loose.
i know this matter has been brought up in past posts but just wondering if other new owners/users are experiencing the same.
under warranty can this be repaired? or is it normal?
Apart from the slider issue, the n95 8gig is great !
i realise its not a perfect world but for $800 i expect the slider to be sturdier than it is.
look forward to other users comments.

To People Who Migrated from N95 8GB to N96; Are yo...

N96 has been on the market for a while now, and I just wanted to know, the N96 owners WHO USED TO OWN N95 8GB, are you happier or more satisfied with N96?
Especially, in gaming, are you more satisfied with N96's gaming experience?

I'm far from happy with my N96 and wish I'd not bothered 'upgrading'. It's more a down-grade to what can only be seen as a cheap version of the ever so popular N95 and N95 8GB.
I'm not entirely bothered that non of the UK networks support DVB-H but it's the basics where the N96 is a complete let down... Firstly the build quality is shocking, cheap thin plastic which means the battery cover feels like its going to fall off at any second then there's the extremely poor battery life, sluggish text messaging, slow application opening, poor colour quality of the camera - not to mention the old System Error that pops up every now and then (even with up to date firmware) - well worth the £480 Nokia are charging for a sim-free version eh?!
If you do a spot of Googling you'll find thousands of unhappy N96 users!

Upgrading from an N95 to an N96?

Recommended? I love my N95 but it's getting old and tired now so maybe it's time for a change. The 5mp camera is a must and being able to watch video's (films tv shows etc). What's everyone's opinion on the N96?

N95 8gig V15 Video Stuttering

Can someone please repost a fix or explain how I stop the N95 firmware 15 video pausing issue?
I found a post on another site that informed me to delete all my vids in the phone, then connect to the computer and delete all vid folders from there also. I did this and it actually worked! Until I deleted the vids I had made since then and subsequently all new vids now also suffer the stuttering.
It never happend when i bought the phone, never happened when i used firmware 11 and has only started on firmware V15. I have no software running in the background and the only new programs I have installed other than the firmware is the ngage software (However the video issues started happening before that).
If this is happening to me after a clean update of the firmware then surly this is happening to 1000s of other people out there with the same device.
Please help, such a good camera on the phone and my friends birthday party last weekend would have been full of excellent moments to capture on film unfortunatly the vids all start to fail after about 5 seconds

OK Ive fixed it temporarily again. I backed up, then deleted all my photos from the phone, did the same with my videos. Then I connected the phone to the pc using PC Suite and browsed into the images folder and deleted everything including folders in there. Did the same with Videos.
Now it works. Woohoo!! Video problems gone! Must remember not to delete the first one Ive just made again.
Lets hope it stays fixed.

Windows 7 Device Stage and N95 8gig

I have reacently installed Windows 7.
When I plugged in my phone, I installed all the drivers except 3 bluetooth ones that windows update was unable to locate.
It works, Ovi suite runs normally, but I have yet to see the Windows Device Stage icon for my phone.
I have a N95 8 gig edition device software V 20.2.005
Help !

Well, it DID work back on Windows 7 Beta 1 (and even then only in "Media Player" mode), but hasn't worked on any build since.
My Microsoft contacts insist that the problem is on Nokia's side, but I think it's Microsoft's fault. Time will tell.

Transfer Office files to phone? N95 8gig

Hi i'm probably missing something obvious here but how do i transfer MS Office docs or files to my phone? i can't find anything in the Nseries PC suite, i can't see the phone as a mass media device in My Computer and it doesn't show as an available drive to do a "save as".
Phone came with the standard Quickoffice viewer which is all I want to do, no need to edit them.

Although Nokia has its roots in Finland, I guess the size of the mobile market is so small that Finland has no priority in that sense. But I think that most new phones that Nokia targets to European markets start to sell within days at the same time in most European countries ?
In fact before Christmas time I had to buy 2 phones from my home town to friends in other towns because in most stores many Nokia models were just sold out. (but those were not new ones, in fact both were the "sports phone", cannot really remember the model number...)

N95 8gig films playback problems

After downloading a film and transferring it through nokia video manager, everything is working well but when the process is finished and I watch the movie back on my phone, after about 30 minutes of playback the picture frezzes or screen goes grey but audio continues, this is with every film i transfer.......
Can anyone help?????????? NOKIA??

This is a known bug in the nokia video manager. No one knows when it will be fixed.
You won't get help from nokia here as this is a user to user support forum. If you want a comment from nokia about the issue use the "contact us" link above.
If you google around you can find plenty of free video conversion software such as "super" by "erightsoft".

Updating N95 8gig

ive just updated my firmware and my phone now lags when i try to open my music,and my apps have gone(dont care about that)
can i turn my firmware back?

Skype on N95 8Gb and N96

Is one able to use the phone as the camera and mic via the PC to connect to Skype? As we do not live in a 3G area at present and I have broadband at home I thought that this may be an option.

If you have wireless broadband then www.vyke.com may be what you are looking for I use it and it works fine.

N95-2 Surely will show contact pic on text or call...

Hi really pleased with my new N95 8gig BUT surely I should be able to see a contacts thumbnail when a text comes in or when a call comes?
Hate the fact it just says 1 message and you have to see who etc first?
All my old Nokias did this and they were nowhere near as good as this is meant to be?

N96 voice tags problem

Afternoon all
Just upgraded from an N95 to an N96 and I have a problem.
With the N95, all the contacts in my list had a voice tag automatically assigned to them, so all I had to do was hit the button, wait for the bleep, and say the name. This was great for use with my parrot handsfree kit in my car.
With the N96, the contacts have not had any voice tags assigned as they should, so I can't use it to voice dial which really is annoying me as I can't voice dial from my car kit either.
Any ideas as to how I can sort this??

Just thought I would let you know you're not on your own with this problem. I can use voice dialling to dial contacts by pressing and holding the right softkey, but when I try to use my car kit, it brings up the speech recognition progress box but won't recognise anything I say. Kinda pointless having hands free dialling if it doesn't work when you need it most! ;-)
