N95 and Toyota Bluetooth hands-free system

On 11th March I purchased a used (55 plate) Toyota Corolla Verso and as part of the deal had the Toyota Bluetooth hands-free system installed.
Everything worked fine with my Sony K600i which has eventually given up the ghost and required replacement.
I opted for the Nokia N95 and after a short wait due to stock availability it was delivered to my home address on Friday 4th May.
My initial "very impressed" thoughts soon changed to disappointment when I tried to pair the N95 with the Toyota hands-free system...
Unlike the Sony, the phone does not automatically detect that the Toyota system is searching for it.. but I can bypass this by manually searching for other devices with the phone whilst the Toyota system is searching.
I'm then asked to input the pass code (default 1234) on the phone... which I do... and the Toyota system announces that the pairing has been successfull... connection in progress... however the phone then flashes a message stating that it is not possible to pair with the Toyota system at which point the Toyota system declares "connection failed".
I've tried numerous times now with Remote Sim on and off, deleting all paired devices and starting from scratch etc etc...
I've been and spoken to the Toyota Dealership and of course they claim that there's nothing wrong with the car kit - it worked with the phone I had when I bought the car and it's not their fault I've changed to a phone which is incompatible.
As far as I can tell, the N95 has Bluetooth 2.0 installed (so did the Sony) and I understand that this *is* backwardly compatible and as such should meet the technical requirements of the Toyota System... however the lady on the service desk at the Toyota Dealership stated that there could be other issues too, but was either not able or not willing to specify what those issues would be. She suggested that the only way they would possibly be able to do anything about it would be only if Customer Relations gave them authorisation to do so and gave me their telephone number (01737 363633).
Having spoken to Toyota Customer Relations, they simply infer that it's my fault for purchasing a phone that is not compatible - but even they declined to provide me with documentary evidence (which they claim to have) proving that it is not compatible. Instead they suggested that the only course of action I would possibly have would be to speak with the dealership.... who have of course already told me that they are not able to do anything without the say so of Toyota Customer Relations.
I get the feeling someone isn't quite telling the truth...
I figure that the only way I'm going to have any recourse with Toyota is to prove beyond doubt that the phone is compatible with the requirements of the Toyota system... according to the Toyota Bluetooth hands-free system owners manual I merely need to ensure that any desired phone supports Bluetooth hands-free profiel 0.96 or 1.0.
I've tried asking O2 - they didn't know the answer and suggested I should call Nokia.
I've called Nokia on the following numbers:

Each without success... note that the 08706 092832 number was answered by an extremely unhelpful, arrogant lady... you can probably sense I'm beginning to get a little irate now...
I've also tried to call Nokia on 08450 045555 given to me both by the Nokia website and the arrogant lady I refer to above...
At the time of writing this post, I've had the phone to my ear ringing away for 1 hour 16 minutes and counting....
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.... (Me catching my breath so as to stay calm)
Can anybody whatsoever with the slightest element of confidence tell me whether the Nokia N95 supports Bluetooth hands-free profile 0.96 or 1.0??
Any advice, assistance, stress and frustration relief would VERY much appreciated.

Hello again... I thought some of you may like to know that I have made some progress.
After a rediculously long time on hold with Nokia I eventually opted to hang up and call back... frustratingly I did of course get through straight away only to be told that it was actually one of their quieter days and that there was no reason (as far as the guy knew) why I should have been on hold for so long... regardless... the guy was extremely helpful.
I explained my issue in detail and he advised that as far as he knew, because the phone has Bluetooth version 2, it could/would/should be compatible.
Separately I had also emailed Club Nokia with the full details of my issue.
I had also logged an appeal with Toyota Customer Services (Head Office).
Initially Toyota's response was that technology moves so fast, specifically the mobile phone industry, that technology such as car kits etc are often left inferior. As polite as they were, they basically washed their hands of the problem putting the blame squarely at my feet for purchasing a phone that in their opinion was incompatible.
My appeals regarding viewing it as unreasonable that having only bought the car in March of this year and one part of it already being relegated to a fancy dashboard accessory that doesn't really do much apart from ignore my requests to pair with my phone, fell on deaf ears to say the least. Even though I had directed them towards this and at least one other online forum upon which other Toyota owners claimed to have had their Bluetooth system upgraded under warranty.
Then an email reply arrived from Club Nokia. It specifically stated, "this handset [Nokia N95] has a bluetooth version of 2.0 and does support the headset profile"
Of course, this prompted an immediate phone call to Toyota Customer Services again... quoting my reference number (for my earlier conversation(s) with them) and informing them of the information/clarification received from Club Nokia their tone shifted a little and I was told that they would call me back.
A couple of days later I received a phone call from Customer Services informing me that they had authorised my local dealer to upgrade the Bluetooth system under warranty.
Approximately two days later I had a phone call from the Dealer informing me that the part(s) had been ordered.
And as I sit here typing this right now, they're fitting the new system to my car.
Granted I think there's a chance both the guy I spoke to at Nokia and the emailed response from Club Nokia miss the point slightly as they appear to be relying on the fact that the phone has Bluetooth V2.0 and therefore *is* compatible... this may not necessarily be the case - somebody suggested in an earlier post that the phone is only compatible with handsfree profile 1.5...
However, if Nokia are telling me it's compatible I figured I'd quote that to Toyota and see what happened (afterall I'm not telling porkies, I'm simply passing on the info I obtained from the people who *should* know)...
I think this proves a little persistance certainly goes a long way!
(I guess I just need to test the damn thing when I get my car back later today)

    Try the owner's manual or your dealer. Some in car systems have updates available to support iOS 4.
    It might be hlepful if you gave us a little more information, like what kind of car, what, exactly, you've done to try to get it working and what the problem you're having is.
    Some cars have systems that will do things like read you text messages and e-mail. Those features are NOT compatible with the iPhone.

    Not quite the same problem but my speaker dock no longer charges iPad1 and iPhone4 since upgrading to iOS5.1 but was playing and charging only the day before, extremely annoying as I have only had the dock about 3 weeks now.
    I haven't tried my iPad3 yet, but will assume that it will do the same

  • Is anyone having problems with connecting to your car's Bluetooth Hands Free System since installing iOS 8.1?

    I have an iPhone 4S and I just installed iOS 8.1. Now I am having issues maintaining my connection to my Car's built-in Bluetooth System. I have a 2013 VW Passat with the stock Fender, Audio, NAV & Handsfree System.
    I can establish a connection, but lose it almost as fast. I'm wondering if something changed with my iPhone's Bluetooth settings with iOS 8.1. I never had any issues before upgrading.
    I'm just wondering if anyone out there is having the same problem that I am having.

    There are a number of reports from people with VW vehicles. Try removing the phone from the list in the car. Then, remove the vehicle from the list in the phone. Do a reset on the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, put the devices into discovery/pairing mode and see if they will connect. Otherwise, you might do a search of the forum looking for issues with VW vehicles.

  • 6230i connectivity with Honda Bluetooth hands free

    I am having trouble maintaining the connection between the Nokia 6230i and the Honda CRV Bluetooth Hands-free system.
    I have paired the two and connected them. All works fine. I can also use voice activated.
    But if I switch off the Honda or the Nokia and then switch on again, the devices do not connect. The Honda system flashes the blue light and every so often beeps 3 times. I can reconnect manually, but I thought that once the devices were paired they would connect automatically.
    Anyone got any advice?

    I used a 6230i on an Accord with Sat Nav, and apart from the occasional problem, it worked fine. Now got a 6700 Classic and it will pair OK with the car, but sometimes works with the Honda HFT and sometimes doesn't.
    Common fault is disconnecting when other phone answers when dialling from the car, and incoming calls cause the phone to disconnect from the HFT.
    There is a website www.hondahandsfree.com where you can check phone compatibility.
    I'm hoping a software fix will happen soon.

    I have the MB Multi Handset Interface with the latest Bluetooth "puck". Pairs fine, voice quality decent.
    One nice bonus is how fast the contact directory loads now. With a V600 directly in the cradle(no BT) it could take up to five minutes to load about 30 contacts. With the iPhone usings BT it loads four times as many contacts in just seconds.
    As far as reconnecting when getting back in the car, mine always reconnects and at least loads the recents, but not always the directory, unless the iPhone is fully on.
    Has anyone found a good way to check voicemail within this setup? I haven't fugured out how to connect to vmail via the MB controls. Or, if I connect using the iPhone directly, I cannot get the audio to play through the MB.
    Also, have you noticed what happens when you try the old speed dial function through the MB keypad?

    I have  successfully paired via bluetooth my iPhone 5 with my cars built in hands free. In my iPhones bluetooth settings I have gone in to the settings for that device and selected to sync contacts. The phonebook in the handsfree system says it is empty so I can't make calls from the hands free system unless I do it from the phone keypad. I am assuming that because I have the option to sync contacts in the bluetooth settings that menas my car has the PBAP function.

    My experience is that the BB bluetooth profile cannot carry out the two things you mention. For part 2 of your question: have you tried out to switch your profile to "no sound" before you enter your car? I am not sure if the ringsound is re-enabled on hands-free profile but it is worth a try.
    This is probably not satisfying but maybe someone will work on this for future releases of the OS (eg send ringtone sound via blue tooth like Nokia devices do or enable short message readers via blue tooth)

    Dear all,
    I have a 6110 which I am very happy with but I have a nagging problem. Previously I had a 3210. When I paired it (3210) with my blue ant bluetooth hands free and walked out of range of the device (in my car) I would hear a beep on the phone. When I got back in range it would pair up automatically with the device. No problem.
    With the 6110 when I go out of range and come back I have to pair up with the device every time, very annoying. Is there a way around this.

    That entirely depends on if the manufacturer of said device has put that particular bluetooth service on the device. You know what I mean? Example: Browsing is a service, file transfer is a service. Not all bluetooth devices have ALL services. I found that out the hard way when I purchased a dell axim x51v a while back, it didn't have all the services that I wanted.

    I can make outgoing calls using the hands free system in my Toyota RAV 4 but must manually answer all incoming calls. Is there any way to have the phone pick-up after a set number of rings..I did not have this problem with my Palm Treo 650.

    I just got back from my dealer...bottom line, update works.  It was a $99 charge, they ran into some issues, it was their first try at it.  I brought a 2 GB usb stick with me, one I had lyling around, formated it, and let them use it.  They said they could not give it back, since it would have their data on it...no big deal.  Turns out, there was an issue with the USB stick I gave them, they had to go out and purchase on (not sure why they didn't have one on hand alread).  I have about 8900 songs on my iPod, a few playlists.  It took about 20 minutes or so to finish the loading, then when you try to use some voice commands, says you cannot do it while it's compiling songs or something to that effect.  A few minuts, later, the voice commands worked. Only issue I see is that everytime I turn off the car, and get back in, it goes through the process of the load again.  the 2nd time was a little quicker, but still took about 5-10 minutes, and again, had the delay of not being able to use the voice.  Good luck everyone!!!

    Can anyone help? I have a Nokia CK-7W Bluetooth hands-free car kit installed in my vehicle. I have recently up graded my mobile phone to a Nokia N 96, the phone is connecting by Bluetooth and all off the functions seem to work, the problem is with the quality when connected to a call I am not being cut off the call but the communication keeps breaking up. I have checked whether the N 96 needs updating and it would seem it is up to date so I would assume this is not a firmware problem. On connecting and pairing my N95 with the CK-7W it works perfect.

    The problem is with the firmware in the ck-7w, it is a discontinued model and will not work properly with some new phones. You will need to change to a ck-100 which will allow full benefits of the phone.

    Having just moved from a Blackberry to iPhone 5C I have been trying to move my contacts into my car's Hands Free. I have paired the device but became stuck when it advised me to transmit the contact list.

    The movement of contacts from the phone to the vehicle is handled by the vehicle. There is no setting on the iPhone to move the contacts. Check the user guide for the hands free system in your vehicle. Mine does it automatically, but there is a setting in the car's system that is set by default to move them.
    EDIT: I'm sorry, you can also check the phone. Go to Settings>Bluetooth and find your vehicle. Tap on the small on the right side and that should bring up another settings page, mine does. There you can check "Sync Contacts". It should then sync when you connect the phone to the vehicle, unless the vehicle also has a setting.

  • Mitsubishi Fuse Hands Free System

    I recently bought a Mitsubishi Lancer and upgraded to the Fuse Hands Free package as the sales person told me that it worked great with iPhone. When attempting to connect my iPhone 4 (as well as previously with a 3GS) to the hands free system through the USB port, the display continuously cycles between 'connect' and 'retry' but never connects. When attempting to play anything, the system tells me that there are 'no playable files on the device' even though there are. The USB charges the phone and I can play music via bluetooth (although not as efficiently) but it will not connect via USB and I can't use the voice controls. I have done everything I can think of: reset the phone while plugged in to the USB, reset while not plugged in, manually switch audio settings on the phone and update to iOS 4.3 all to no avail. I've spoken to Apple regarding this and I was told that it is not an Apple issue and the people from Mitsubishi have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyone else have this issue and able to come across a solution?

  • Dv6700 audio is bluetooth hands-free audio only

    Seems a common post here, but I found no answers.  I have tried what seems to be everything.  My sound stopped working.  The speakers listed are my bluetooth hands-free audio, which it seems are not sufficient to actually produce any sound in HP.  I don't know what happened to my other drivers.  I tried downloading Realtek and it downloads but will not work.  I tried downloading Conexant and it downloads, but gives a failure message saying that the device is not detected.
    I tried a system restore and soundworked briefly, then stopped again. 
    My Dv6700 is CTO.  P/n is GW772AV. 
    I have tried going back to several restore points and it never seems to work.
    The sound does not work through headphones either.
    Microphone also only has Bluetooth hands-free audio.
    I run Windows Vista 32-bit and have installed all of the "critical" updates and some of the recommended ones - although honestly I don't know which ones.

    When my iPhone 4S (with ios7) experiences a failed call while connected to my Bluetooth hands free in my car(screen locked) the failed call appears on the locked screen, as it should, the problem arises whenever I unlock the phone, it automatically redials the last failed call, it doesn't do this with missed calls that are on the locked screen, if any. It is really annoying as sometimes the phone doesn't respond to attempts to end the call before it connects to the number. I then have to explain that it was my phone and not me, I look like an idiot, which I don't really need any extra help with!! Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to stop missed call from showing in the locked screen but it might be associated with the failed calls and therefore be the only resolution

    I have had the same issue which was driving me mad but think I have just found a way around it. In iOS 7 if you swipe up on the lock screen to access quick settings and go into timer then click the home button you get into the phone without calling the person back. Not a great 'fix' but hope it works for you. Come on Apple this isn't good enough, fix this bug otherwise you will lose your customers.

  • Can't use my car's bluetooth hands free set up when Bionic is synched

    I don't know the tech jargon.  I was able to pair my Bionic to my car's bluetooth hands free set up, but can't seem to use voice dialing.  My car's display says that the phonebook has downloaded, and I can still take calls, but that's about it.  It's very upsetting.  Does anyone know a fix for this issue?  I hate to return my phone for something like this.
