N95 battery authentification failed?

I got this n95 from one of the O2 stores in london.
The battery has a hologram label for checking its authenticity.
The hologram looks fine: able to see the nokia connecting hands symbol, nokia original enhancements logo, and 1-4 dots on each side; when angle at different views.
So i scratch the side of the label to reveal the 20-digit code, read from the top row followed by the bottom row.
I then entered the 20-digit code at www.nokia.com/batterycheck as instructed and to my surprise, it says "Authentication Unsuccessful: Invalid 20-digit code. The code you submitted could not be authenticated... ."
I got a similar reply when i text my battery 20-digit code to nokia at 07786200276.
Does this means my n95 battery is not an authentic?
What should i do with it? -return the battery to that O2 store and get a replacement of another unauthentic ones (LOL) ??
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Tuck

I follow the link in Nokia’s website (http://europe.nokia.com/A4388379) to search for my local authorised Nokia service centre, and it shows one in Oxford Street: Carphone Warehouse.
Today I went to Carphone Warehouse in Oxford Street to have my battery checked by a repairwoman, which I believed she’s a Nokia-authorised repairperson.
She took the battery to the lab behind the store and examines for about 5 minutes. She then returned and telling me that the battery is fine and nothing to worry about. When I ask about the 20-digit code which fails for authentication from Nokia’s website, she said she has no idea about it.
I was a bit relief when thinking again she said that the battery is fine. So, upon reaching home, I quickly try the battery on my Nokia N95 and couldn’t wait to use it. I switched it ON and it begins to start up to a setup screen. Seconds later, the screen was frozen and then fading to total blackout!!! -OMG... what have I done???!
I pressed and hold the ON button three times but nothing works. Well, I thought the battery might have running out and needs charging. Unfortunately, it fails to switch-on again after an hour of charging.
Do you think I might have caused any damages to my handset?
Should there be any damages caused to the handset, am I to be blame for all this (due to my carelessness and negligence in using ‘unauthentic battery’ ...even though I’ve been told it is ok to use)?
Is it possible for me to get a new replacement from Nokia/O2 store at no charge?
Please advice.
Thanks.

If my iPod Touch 5 battery is failing, can I pay Apple to send me a refurbished one before I send them the one with a failing battery? I don't want to go without my ITouch.  I really don't want to go without it but I dont want to have to purchase a new one.  The battery life is abysmal, and I am reluctant to upgrade my ios system to ios8 because all I ever see are complaints about upgrades killing the battery.  I am still on ios6.  When I upgraded my macbook pro (which is now DEAD) the battery got worse.
I am just sick of it.  I called apple about my itouch battery and the help was terrible.  All they were telling me to do was do a restart and UPGRADE TO THE LATEST IOS TO SEE IF THAT SOLVES THE BATTERY PROBLEM.  They would not even tell me what to do if that would not work.  Very rude.I kept asking and I finally had to find out myself through my own research that they cant replace the battery; instead they send you a refurbished ipod.  They never told me that on the phone and they kept giving me the run around when I kept asking them what I should do if the IOS upgrade did not work or made the battery worse.  Hopefully someone can answer my initial question.  Thanks guys.  I have a charger that I sometimes use plugged in to the ipod ( not all the time, I know that is bad for the battery)  and I thought my battery life should be better than it is because I sometimes use it on the charger  ( it should save the battery).

Not that I know of. You can do the exchange at an Apple store if they have refurbished ones in stock

  • How do you measure if a battery is failing faster than normal?

How can you tell if your battery is failing faster than normal or acceptable?
I bought 2 batteries with my G4 Powerbook 2 years ago. One now gives me an hour of battery life, and one 1.5 hours. This seems very low considering it's only 1 year of use per battery. Apple Care only asks about how long the battery has been owned... never how much it has been used, number of cycles, amps, etc.
    Battery Information:
    BATTERY #1
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 2703
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 2170
    Amperage (mA): 637
    Voltage (mV): 12522
    Cycle Count: 190
    BATTERY #2:
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 3032
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 3027
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 12417
    Cycle Count: 105
Compare these numbers with my brother's PowerBook G4, bought just a few months after mine:
My main battery has 209 cycles and a capacity of 3686 mAh. My secondary has only 29 cycles and a capacity of 4400 mAh.
why does he have 3686 mAh after 209 cycles, and my bettery has 2703 after 190 cycles? Is there some way to tell if this is "inappropriate" loss of power?
    Thanks
    -Erika
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I did do several things wrong (that I only found out about now):
    1. I left the computer plugged into AC
    2. I stored whichever battery was not in use full, rather than half full
But I did callibrate regularly (if only by necessity).
I still think 1.5 hours at 2 years is not very good if you are using two batteries (that's really only one year each).
However, I called AppleCare, and I was told they will only consider a battery if it has been owned for under a year, and has less than one hour of life at best. That still seems extremely low to me (I'd be upset if I had 1 hour at 1 year on my only battery), but such is life. I think the moral of the story is that it would help to give instructions about battery care with the computer, and don't buy an extra battery unless you really need it.

  • SP2013 - ADFS Authentification fails

    Hi there,
for testing purposes I have set up a sharepoint farm with one sp2013-server, sql 2008R2 and one hostnamed web-application. I have also set up a new certification authority and an adfs-server, both based on windows 2012 r2.
After setting up sharepoint I created a new authentification provider like this:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/hh305235%28v=office.15%29.aspx
But after switching my web app to adfs authentification fails with error messages like this:
    error id 364:
    Exception details:
Microsoft.IdentityServer.Web.InvalidRequestException: MSIS7042: The same client browser session has made '6' requests in the last '11' seconds. Contact your administrator for details.
Chrome shows me the ADFS landing page with "an error has occured", but IE just brings up a basic authentification and after entering credentials I see "webpage not found".
    What I did:
    Rechecked my whole config
Checked the thumbprint of the certificates
    $sts = Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig
    $sts.LogonTokenCacheExpirationWindow = (New-TimeSpan –minutes 1)
    $sts.Update()
    Iisreset
Verified the time - is ok
Now I am out of ideas ... can somebody please help me?
    Thanks
    Marcel

Strange - idpinitiatedsignon.aspx works on chrome and bringt the forms logon - I can log on
Same URL in IE opens the adfs-page, when I click "login" I see a windows security-window for credentials (guess basic authentification)
    - after entering I get http 400.
So I disabled "windows authentification" in my global authentification settings on "intranet" and enabled forms -
then the login works everywhere but I have to enter credentials manually.
Switched back to windows auth - doesn't work on the sharepoint-server but works on the adfs-server itself.

  • Authentification failed?

Has anyone had this problem before? I have a PPoe server connected to an ethernet cable. Lately, often when I open Safari, it does not read the local connection, and gives me the message "authentification failed" It could be my server, but it seems to happen if I leave the ibook open and come back to it at a later time, especially if I didn't quit Safari before ending my session. Usually if I close the book, and come back to it at a later time, I dont have this problem, but not always. This only became an issue 1 week ago. I have had the same comp. and server for nearly a year. Any ideas? Thanks¡¡¡!!!!!

  • N95 Battery Indicator on 31.0.017

    Hi,
I got a new N95 and installed software 31.0.017 via NSU.
I noticed that the battery indicator stays at 100% a long time and suddenly there are low battery warnings. I searched several forums and found out that this bug exists for a long time.
Is Nokia not willing to fix this? A working battery indicator is very important for me.
    Regards,
    Benny

ok to me it sounds like u r phone needs to either be reflashed or taken to u r local service center for service
as ive had the 31.0.017 for a long time now and have no issues with it whatsoever
so my bet would be to try and update it again
and see if that solves it
it could also be your wireless connection is causeing some fault or the wireless password is wrong

  • [SOLVED] Almost-new battery occasionally fails to charge

Sometimes my three-month-old Vizio CT14-A4 fails to charge and misreports charge level.  Specifically, my adapter LED blinks, acpi gives
    Battery 0: Unknown, 98%
and then the battery proceeds to last for, say, one hour when I expect four.  I know the battery isn't dying because usually it does hold and dispense a full charge (and it's quite new).  I haven't figured out how to reproduce the problem yet, but it's happened a few times this month.  Removing and putting back in the charger plug doesn't help.  My naive gut guess is the battery is somehow overcharging when the laptop spends too long plugged in.  I'm looking for a solution that does not involve removing the battery (which I haven't tried yet but will at next opportunity, for troubleshooting's sake).
Here's my current acpi -V, now that I've plugged in following a complete discharge and all is normal:
    Battery 0: Charging, 58%, 00:53:40 until charged
Battery 0: design capacity 6970 mAh, last full capacity 6949 mAh = 99%
    Adapter 0: on-line

Thermal 0: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 100.0 degrees C
Thermal 0: trip point 1 switches to mode passive at temperature 110.0 degrees C
Thermal 0: trip point 2 switches to mode active at temperature 60.0 degrees C

For reference, this issue resembles old threads.  Any suggestions?
Edit: Looks like it was a battery problem, not a Linux problem.  When I called the manufacturer they immediately told me to hard-reset the battery with a paper clip, which worked (though I have to do it again every month or so).  Marking solved.

It's fairly common for the pre-MacSafe power connectors on the computer to loosen due to stress. The points where the barrel-shaped chrome connector assemble is soldered (or flowed) to the logic board lose contact and you get intermittent charing at best.
If you connect to A/C adaptor and gently wiggle it up and down, can y ousee charging start again/ "Up" is the position where the contact should again meet.
My 1Ghz 17" MBP will not start on A/C alone until the battery has a little charge. I don't know it's the dead internal backup battery (common) of something else that causes two good 65W power supplies to report in Profiler as 45W.

  • N95 battery life

    Hi all
just got my nice shiney new N95 and i love it. Dose every thing it says on the tin (well almost but im sure its user issues).
However there is one issue that is driving me mad, and it s a big problem. The battery life, i can best describe it as **bleep**.
On average it will last about 12 hours with almost no use and at worst it goes flat leaving me high and dry in about 3-4 hours of use.
I have W LAN search off and its mainly on factory settings but in struggling to get more life out of it.
Are there any settings or better batterys that i can use. Its a big enough problem to make me hand the phone back to my phone supplier as its not fit for purpose.
    Ta Wavey..
    grrrr gagged again

  • N95 battery

hiya thought id let you know how long i get out of this battery in the n95
    fully charged at 9am
made 1 hour 10 mins of calls via bluetooth
listened to 1.5 hours music via bluetooth
    sent 8 txts
no wifi and it is switched off completley
    iam using 3g network
by 2pm i had 3 bars of battery an was scared to listen to more music as i dont finish wrk till 5
my n73 would have all its bars left and thats with music all day
iam looking on ebay ive seen a battery for 8 pounds its 1200mah in size
thats 100mah bigger then the n73 battery surely this will work better and last longer??
has any1 tryed a bigger battery at all??
    what were the results??
i love my n95 but at the moment iam leaning back to the trusty n73 as the battery is awesome
i had the n80 for 1 week before i sold it cus of the battery the n95s seems just as poor
i cant understand how nokia bring a device out with grounbreaking features but put a smaller battery in it then a device with less features!!!!!!
nokia must have had loads of complaints about the n80 but still they realease the n95 with a battery which isnt adequite
    any feedback appreciated guys
by the way i turnt backlight to 10 secs standby mode cums on after 25 seconds and i even turnt the screen brightness down a notch!!!!
    thanks

nah mate no apps open, how can you be impressed with what i done on the phone?? by the time id finished work at 5pm i was nearly empty 1-2 bar max that was with medium use as i noticed it was going down quick and didnt wanna be without my phone for the rest of the day.my n73 would have had 4-5 bars after the same use and more
had symbian phone since the 6630 all the way through 6680 n70 n73 n80 n95 so pretty good with them and power saving features and ways to make them quicker etc
ive decided to sell my bluetooth headset that i used with my n73 cus the battery was sooo good
go back to the wired headset as bluetooth connection is defently going to drain the n95s poor battery
ive turnt the backlight down to minimum
turnt backlight time to 10 seconds
turt power save mode on after 20 seconds
    warning tones off
    ringtone half way
all apps and games saved to phone apart from emulators so memory card isnt allways being accessed and read etc
ive bought a second battery to use as a spare
a desktop charger to charge the battery and phone over night
left a charger at work just incase
:-0 oh my god the things ive had to do to try to extend my battery life!! :-0
i think nokia should hurry up and release a new battery for the n95 personally evry n95 owner would buy one 100%
i spose they are happy with selling every1 a second bl5f battery though
next thing ill be buying chagers to leave round my mates houses just in case or a wind up charger just incase :-)
i know its easy to plug it into a wall etc but i just think a phone that has a retail price of 500+ pounds or however much they charge should be able to take a days heavy usage i hadnt even taken a snap or a video god forbid what that does to the battery and this was designed to be used as a 5mp camera
iam sure 5mp cameras would have bigger batterys in iam not sure but they must be bigger then 950mah
iam wondering if its summing to do with the nokia wifi phones the n80 was terrible with the battery and so is the n95
any other wifi nokia phones that have poor battery life??
i was thinking maybe wifi is somhow draining the battery even though we see it as off in the settings etc??
i know its a long shot but ive never noticed bad batterys apart from the n80 and n95
    thanks for your replys guys
peace out and have a good 1
lol you might see my n95 on ebay soon still got the n73 and that battery is soooooooooo good compared to this one. you can actually use the phone without having to have backup chargers stashed everywhere :-)its great :-)
only major differences is slight menu changes ie few new apps due to wifi etc --the cameras even though with the n73s if you use the settings you can get such good pics roughly 1.4-1.8 mb in size with lots of details the n95s is better but not by loads and loads :-)
and wifi but hey i dont use that anyway , maybe its just cus it kills my battery and iam scared to use it :-) incase i run out of juice when i need the phone to ring someone :-)
saying that the n73 is smaller and feels a bit sturdyer due to it not being a slider :-)
still unconvinced on this n95 dont get me wrong loving the features just get me as much juice as the n73 which is how much older then the n95?? gota be 12--18 months hasnt it?? and id be soooo happy
i dont think you can call this the perfect device yet as a perfect device would have a much better battery and i know nokia prob never release a perfect device as what would they do next but for 500+ pounds rrp youd expect it to pretty dam perfect wouldnt you :-)
    just my 2 cents :-)
    nice 1 have a good 1 every1Message Edited by buxz777 on 17-Aug-200708:37 PM

Yes, I have had exactly the same problem with my own N95...
    ...and without even dropping it.
All I did was open up the back cover to insert the SIM card, and then replace the cover. Alas, at that early stage I hadn't noticed how very fragile are the "hooks" that hold the cover to the phone.
    Lesson learnt:
    now very careful;
to date only that single replacement.
It would indeed be nice were the "hooks" to be a little more robust.

    Hello,
It seems that my battery indicator for my new N95 has stoped indicating anything! Keeps showing a fully loaded battery until it completely drains from usage...
Has anyone else had this problem? I already upgraded the firmware and the problem remains...
    Any advice or comment?
    Thank you in advance,

    No problem my friend.
If you have already flashed your phone to the V11 software that was released a few weeks ago, then just follow this procedure again and put the same software on the phone again. However, after you flash it, perform a factory reset.
Go: Tools --> Settings --> General --> Factory settings.
This should clean out and reset the phone back to the way it was first delivered.
You will have to re-install your maps again and put all of your software on again, but I did this and things seem to be working for me.
    Good luck.

  • N95 Battery life possible solution to poor battery...

    Hi all
I like most other N95 users have experienced poor battery life, to the point of almost giving up on it.
I had been consistantly getting poor life even down to a couple of hours with all power hungry devices turned off.
Now my phone, with what I would consider average use, lasts up to 2 days on a full charge.
Like most people, I guess, I took it straight out of the box and plugged it in the wall charger and left it over night. I did this for the first week with still poor battery life.
Then one day it just started holding charge for up to 2 days.
I decided to read the manual the other night about charging the battery and right at the back of the book, where the instructions are, it mentions that if the battery has not been used for a while or has been in prolonged storage that what you should do is plug the charger in the wall and phone, switch on the charger and this is the key...unplug the charger from the phone and plug back in again. I guess this puts the battery into a discharge/recharge cycle.
If like me, you just plugged it straight into the phone and switched on the charger and left over night it may only have just topped up the battery without doing the discharge cycle first. In effect creating a battery memory effect although I thought that was a thing of the past.
Worth a shot before giving up on you N95's!
Like I said I now get on average 2 days use and that is with calls, pictures, texts and about 2 hours of GPS use a day.
I still have Wi-Fi scanning off and GSM turned off, I havn't got round to trying it with these functions turned back on.
    Good luck!

    WHAT??!? 200 hours on standby??
The truth, is this phone was made to be constantly plugged into car handsfree kit (not bluetooth) so that its constantly on charge. Bit like how a car GPS navigation unit, although removable, is constanly on charge while you are in the car driving.
Hence why the compromise- big power hungry screen and applications and hardware, low battery, but ok as constantly on charge.
Nokia Do NOT have a car kit for the N95 beleive me I have tried
I have been in touch with Nokia several times
The best I could do is a brodit active holder for car use
Yes The N95 should have a car kit but it does not have the pop port so will only connect on BT using even more battery power
So thats not the reason for the poor battery
Mine sometimes can last 10 to 15 hours and other days goes flat in under 3 and it is charged every night (it has to be) My N73 lasted 3 days and my 6230 last 2 weeks
