i charge the phone most days while im at work with an official charger
i take the phone off go home and by 11pm its dead
this has only become a problem since i did the update
is there a new feature on the update that eats the battery
bluetooth is off

  • Diminished battery life since 10.6.5 update

I updated my computer with the OS X 10.6.5 update when it came out a week or two ago and since the update, my battery life has gotten incredibly short compared to what it used to be. Normally, without having Airport on, just using Microsoft word, I would easily get 7 hours of battery life. Since the update, with 100% battery I'm getting 3.5 hours at the most and it's down to 75% within 20 to 30 minutes. Oh and I've had the computer for about 3 months. Battery health is already down to 92%
I'm beginning to think I just got a buggy computer because I've been having trackpad issues, and my USB ports don't recognize printers, no matter what I do.
Any idea's on my battery problem? I have searched and searched the internet and have found nothing so it may be an isolated issue.

This sounds exactly like what My 13 inch (mid-2010) MBP is doing.
From day one (about 4 months ago), the battery showed that it was down to 92% with coconut battery? I've never gotten over about 6 hours of battery life; after this latest update to .5, I'm lucky if I get 3.5 hours of battery life.
I've checked the activity monitor and nothing is running the CPU excessively, except when I'm watching something in flash, but even if I block all flash, I still get the same battery life. Also, it's always warm on the bottom (even with flash blocked) and the fan runs all the time, too.
I'm not doing anything differently than I did before the update - just have chrome open all the time.
I swear apple is getting lazy with everything software related lately.

  • Iphone 5 VERY short battery life since 6.0.2 update.. Is there anything to change that? :/

Very short battery life on my iPhone 5 since 6.0.2 update. I got up this morning and it was only half an hour in use and it already lost 10% of battery life! Please fix that apple!

Apple is still signing for 6.0.1 so you can RESTORE BACK to 6.0.1. Just download the 6.0.1 IPSW for your device and then press the shift key while pressing restore (on windows) which will open a window. Select the downloaded IPSW and you'll be back on 6.0.1. And since Apple is still signing 6.0.1 THIS IS NOT A HACK
OR AN UNAUTHORIZED downgrade. So it DOES NOT void your warranty because Apple is allowing you to downgrade because they've allowed the 6.0.1 window to remain open. I did it for a friend's iPhone and it all worked out fine.

  • Poor battery life since Yosemite upgrade

    Hi all,
Since upgrading to Yosemite I have noticed that I only get about 5 hours of battery life, even when just running Safari and Mail. I have checked the battery life and it is reporting as good. I have also reset PRAM and SMC but that didn't seem to change anything. Here is a dump from EtreCheck but I couldn't find anything obvious there either. Does anyone have any ideas or is this battery life as good as to be expected?

  • Decrease battery life since Maxx software upgrade

My Droid Maxx HD had excellent battery life prior to my recent software upgrade that occurred earlier this week. Now come 5pm my battery that use to last till 9pm is dead! What can I do to extend the life of the battery so it does what I bought it for?

Sorry for the battery issues, but let's narrow down what could be doing it.  I'm gonna provide some information that will help you this.  Some of the information will have a question before it, and the information will clarify why the question is important.
How are your charging your device on a normal basis?  If you are charging it in the car more often than the wall, that will not give you a quality charge and you will see the charge drain faster than charging it from an outlet.
How do you close your apps?  Most game apps are intensive on your battery if they remain open, even if you are not actively using the app.  Simply pressing the home button doesn't allow your device to "sleep" so you're going to have a degredation in battery life.
Have you updated the apps since your device software updated?  If the app version you currently have isn't what is most current, it would cause issues  with overall performance.
What charger are you using?  If it's not the charger that came with the device, or an approved charger you would have issues getting a quality charge.
Do you recall any app you downloaded right before you began having issues?  Some apps are "high risk" and interfere with your device and it's functioning.  If you have installed an app right before this started you can try uninstalling them in reverse order from their installation.
Well, I'm done taking up your time and I hope this information helps.  If you find out it is an app you recently downloaded, but you want the app I would suggest either posting some feedback to the app developers.  An alternative solution would be to purchase a charging case/portable charger.  Good luck with your battery issues.

  • N95 Battery life possible solution to poor battery...

    Hi all
I like most other N95 users have experienced poor battery life, to the point of almost giving up on it.
I had been consistantly getting poor life even down to a couple of hours with all power hungry devices turned off.
Now my phone, with what I would consider average use, lasts up to 2 days on a full charge.
Like most people, I guess, I took it straight out of the box and plugged it in the wall charger and left it over night. I did this for the first week with still poor battery life.
Then one day it just started holding charge for up to 2 days.
I decided to read the manual the other night about charging the battery and right at the back of the book, where the instructions are, it mentions that if the battery has not been used for a while or has been in prolonged storage that what you should do is plug the charger in the wall and phone, switch on the charger and this is the key...unplug the charger from the phone and plug back in again. I guess this puts the battery into a discharge/recharge cycle.
If like me, you just plugged it straight into the phone and switched on the charger and left over night it may only have just topped up the battery without doing the discharge cycle first. In effect creating a battery memory effect although I thought that was a thing of the past.
Worth a shot before giving up on you N95's!
Like I said I now get on average 2 days use and that is with calls, pictures, texts and about 2 hours of GPS use a day.
I still have Wi-Fi scanning off and GSM turned off, I havn't got round to trying it with these functions turned back on.
    Good luck!

    WHAT??!? 200 hours on standby??
The truth, is this phone was made to be constantly plugged into car handsfree kit (not bluetooth) so that its constantly on charge. Bit like how a car GPS navigation unit, although removable, is constanly on charge while you are in the car driving.
Hence why the compromise- big power hungry screen and applications and hardware, low battery, but ok as constantly on charge.
Nokia Do NOT have a car kit for the N95 beleive me I have tried
I have been in touch with Nokia several times
The best I could do is a brodit active holder for car use
Yes The N95 should have a car kit but it does not have the pop port so will only connect on BT using even more battery power
So thats not the reason for the poor battery
Mine sometimes can last 10 to 15 hours and other days goes flat in under 3 and it is charged every night (it has to be) My N73 lasted 3 days and my 6230 last 2 weeks
Nokia user / modder since Nokia Orange and Mobira user too before that

  • Magic Mouse battery drain since updating to 10.9.5

Since updating my iMac to 10.9.5 my Magic Mouse battery life has gone from over a month of use to less than a day. It's so bad I switched back to a USB based Mouse. Has anyone else experienced a rapid battery drain of their Magic Mouse since updating their iMac?
    Ian

Hello Ian,  I know it sounds simplistic but you will have to check the battery situation.  Here are a few notes I recently made.  It is true that Mavericks needx more memory support but probably it's not much more of a drain on the mouse batteries.
Whether you use regular or rechargeable batteries you should buy the best. Discounted or unbranded batteries are more likely to give a depleted performance and may be of irregular size, often leading to connection problems.  Apple’s own brand, Eneloop and Energiser appear to be the best.
Rechargeable batteries for the standard Magic mouse are unlikely to exceed eighteen days before needing a recharge although the mouse itself can be a limiting factor.  I have seen reports that some Logitech mice vastly exceed this.    Apple may suggest more in their sales blurb but this is a realistic expectation.  The benefit (if you are organised) is that you can always have charged batteries available.  Regular batteries will give you between 25 and 35 days before they need to be replaced. Note.  Never mix old and new batteries or rechargeable and regular.
The notes above are based on my personal experience, not shutting down my machine and using it for around four hours per day.  Note.  Monitors do not always faithfully report battery strength, particularly the rechargeable ones.
When checking your mouse or keyboard batteries ... Turn off the device. Remove the batteries, Clean the terminals both inside the battery compartment and the batteries themselves. Replace or renew both batteries. Turn on the device.  You should get a blinking green light if the device is paired. Click the mouse to activate it.  The green light becomes steady.

  • Severe battery drain since update to 8.1.2

My iPad Air is seriously losing battery when standing idle. At first I thought I had forgotten to re-charge it so I started monitoring it. Since the update it has lost over 85% of battery charge overnight when not being used. I have looked in the battery usage section and it seems that the Home and Lock screen is the culprit with 88% usage in the "Last 24 hours". It charges up okay but when I go to use it it is always dead in the mornings. How is it that the Home and Lock Screen is the culprit and what can I do to correct it. I have all the usual culprits turned off, i.e. Bluetooth, Notifications etc. In fact I have so many things turned off I wonder if it's worth having this iPad.

Also when I do go to use it I can see my battery indicator go down each time I do something with it. I unplugged phone last night before going to bed (100%) so it would not be plugged in overnight and now I wake up and see it at 90%.  So I suspect something wrong.  My App Background is set to off as it has been for quite sometime so no apps refresh for me in background or so I thought. Now after the 8.1 update my battery life *****!!!!As where before I could go like 5 to 6 days before charging now it is like 2 to 3 days before I need to charge up again. With all the tips and tricks I have implemented none now work on my phone. Someone if can help please do. I need to find a resolution.
When in Battery Usage screen mine right now says Usage 8 minutes, Standby 13 minutes. Nothing in Last 24 hours and Last 7 days Home & Lock screen 25% and Settings 23% then the other areas less then that so the top things that are eating my battery are within the home and lock screen and settings screen?
When I did a reset by using the home and power buttons for 10 seconds it acted funny. Showed No service then showed my provider them no 4G, LTE and no wifi symbols then it come back up.then when i go back to battery usage it has nothing there to read  dashes at usage and standby, last 24 nothing last 7home lock screen 27%, settings 23%

  • IPod Touch 5th gen suddenly has terrible battery life after updating to ios 8.0.2!

I updated to ios 8.0.2 around 2 weeks ago and bam! the next day I wake up and use my ipod (I usually leave it on during the night, and battery is still good) and it's down to 50%, then to 20% later! Since I downloaded IOS 7.1 my phone (4S) battery won't last more than eight hours and takes three or four hours to charge.  There must be a bug in this IOS that affects battery life.

  • Horrible Bluetooth Keyboard Battery Life - Since Magic Mouse?

I'm having a weird issue that is driving me nuts. I've noticed that over the past couple weeks I've had to replace the batteries in my Apple bluetooth keyboard several times because it is draining at a rate of about 18-20% a day, even when I'm not at home using it or using it much at all. I have the first version of the mini keyboard, the one that takes three batteries. I used to get great battery life and only had to replace them maybe once every few months so something is definitely wrong. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I went from the bluetooth Mighty Mouse to the Magic Mouse. As a result I had to install the update that came out to support it and then shortly after, 10.6.2.
I have tried all the typical stuff like removing both the keyboard and mouse from Bluetooth setup, doing fresh pairings, etc. Nothing has helped. At this point I've deleted the Magic Mouse and gone back to the Mighty Mouse to see if that makes a difference, but I already hate it and greatly prefer the Magic Mouse. I'm hoping that someone here has seen or had this issue before and can point me in another direction that helps.
    Thanks!

    Cross posting:
Perhaps inquire directly of Apple Care. Gizmodo's review (http://gizmodo.com/5386202/apple-magic-mouse-review ) relays a claim about the Magic Mouse battery life saying, "it's powered by two AA batteries, which get up to four months of use per charge, according to Apple."
Engadget's preview (link follows) included the same reference, the related headline read, "Apple's Magic Mouse: one button, multitouch gestures, Bluetooth, four-month battery life."
    http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/20/apples-magic-mouse-multitouch-gestures-blueto oth-four-month/
Finding support for Gizmodo's reference ("according to Apple") and Engadget's headline may be a little more difficult. Perhaps I haven't read the press release carefully enough. Clip below, from that Apple press release:
"Apple Introduces Magic Mouse," press release, 20 Oct 2009, Apple.com (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2009/10/20magicmouse.html : accessed 24 Nov 2009), in part, "Magic Mouse uses Bluetooth wireless capabilities to create a clean, cable-free desk top and its secure wireless connection works from up to 10 meters away. To extend battery performance, Magic Mouse includes an advanced power management system that works with Mac OS® X to automatically switch to low power modes during periods of inactivity. The wireless Magic Mouse is powered by two AA batteries which are included."
    Hope this helps.

  • N95 battery life

    Hi all
just got my nice shiney new N95 and i love it. Dose every thing it says on the tin (well almost but im sure its user issues).
However there is one issue that is driving me mad, and it s a big problem. The battery life, i can best describe it as **bleep**.
On average it will last about 12 hours with almost no use and at worst it goes flat leaving me high and dry in about 3-4 hours of use.
I have W LAN search off and its mainly on factory settings but in struggling to get more life out of it.
Are there any settings or better batterys that i can use. Its a big enough problem to make me hand the phone back to my phone supplier as its not fit for purpose.
