  • TS1609 Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

    I recently purchased an Iphone 3gs, and already have an itunes account...Itunes wont recognize my iphone...I have uninstalled and installed itunes 2 times and keep getting this error message.
    Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
    How do I correct?

           I had the same problem but managed to fix it with Amy ; the apple advisor. Here are the steps!
    First of all, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. You can download it from here. These instructions will NOT work for iTunes 8, 9 or 10 anymore. If you’re unsure, just uninstall iTunes then re-install with the latest files.
    Next, you need to manually copy the Mobile Device Support directory from a working machine to your Windows 7 computer. Luckily, I have conveniently provided these files for you. You can download them here:
    64-Bit iTunes 11.0.2: Please click here to download this directory for 64-bit Windows.
    32-Bit iTunes 11.0.2: Please click here to download this directory for 32-bit Windows.
    Once you download that file, you need to Unzip it to this directory. IMPORTANT: Make sure you unzip the CONTENTS of the zip file, don’t just copy over the zip file:
    32-Bit: Unzip to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    64-Bit: Unzip to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    There are a large number of files in that directory, so it may take a little time, please be patient.
    So, after unzipping, you should have a new folder “Mobile Device Support” in the Apple folder
    64-BIT ONLY STEP: If you have 32-bit Windows, skip this step. It seems that Apple has put the “Drivers” in a separate location (don’t know why). You will need to download the drivers separately. Please click here to download the files for 64-bit Windows.
    Once downloaded, you need to Unzip it to this directory. IMPORTANT: Make sure you unzip the CONTENTS of the zip file, don’t just copy over the zip file:
    Unzip to: C:\Program FIles\Common Files\Apple
    So, after unzipping, you should have a new folder “Mobile Device Support” in the Apple folder
    Next, we have to merge the registry entries that will install the Apple Mobile Device service.
    First, download the registry entries that I have provided for you here:
    64-bit iTunes 11.0.2: Click here to download the registry entries for 64-bit Windows.
    32-bit iTunes 11.0.2: Click here to download the registry entries for 32-bit Windows.
    After you download the registry entries ZIP file, unzip it to your desktop and double-click each to install it. Say “Yes” to any prompts or confirmations about adding it to the registry. There are 2 entries, make sure you click BOTH and add BOTH to the registry.
    Now, we need to install the correct driver for your iPhone / iTouch. Windows 7 incorrectly identifies the device  as a digital camera. To fix this:
    - Plug in your iPhone / iTouch (don’t have iTunes loaded at this time)
    - Go to Device Manager (Click Start, right-click Computer,  then click Properties. In the window that appears choose “Device Manager” on the left)
    - Scroll down and find “Apple iPod” or “Apple iPhone” or “Apple iTouch”. It will likely be under the “Portable Devices” category.IMPORTANT NOTE: If your device is already listed under “Universal serial Bus Controllers” and not Portable Devices, you can skip these steps and go to Step 7.
    -  Right-click the Apple device and choose “Update Driver Software…”
    - Choose “Browse my computer for driver software” in the window that appears
    -  It will ask you for a location; you want to Browse to this folder (location is the same in 32 and 64 bit Windows):
    32-bit and 64-bit: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    - Click Next
    - It should find the driver for your device; let it install that driver
    Once you complete these steps, reboot your computer. Once you reboot everything should work exactly as expected!

  • Dreaded "Operations Manager failed to start a process" error (2012 R2)

    I know this error has been covered many times, and on many topics, but this time mine is slightly different.   It's
    NOT the
    "SCOMpercentageCPUTimeCounter" error covered by Kevin Holman.
    Also, I am running SCOM 2012 R2 UR4 (7.1.10226.1046) and everything seems correctly patched (MS and agents), like
    suggested by Nicole Welch and Kevin Holman as well.
    So my environment is a fresh installation of SCOM 2012 R2, and I am transferring to this new Management Group, the monitored servers from our old SCOM 2012 "R1" (which I did not upgrade but rather made a brand new independent install).  So
    all servers aren't migrated yet, but I would like to solve this error before. This error did NOT happen in "R1", nor was it overridden (I imported the exact same Management Packs anyway).
    On 2012 R2, it happens on almost all new monitored machines, mainly Read-Only Domain Controllers (RODCs).
    Here is the kind of alert text I am getting:
    Het om 10:10:15 gestarte proces is beëindigd als gevolg van een uitvoerverzamelfout als gevolg van fout 0x80070057 :
    The parameter is incorrect.
    ; mogelijk zijn er gegevens verloren gegaan.
    Opdracht die is uitgevoerd: "C:\Windows\system32\cscript.exe" //nologo "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 193\24788\AD_Global_Catalog_Search_Response.vbs"
    RODC02.mydomain.be (objectCategory=DMD) false 4 {9E253FCB-8AAF-491F-CCA3-E632C6C2800C}
    Werkmap: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 193\24788\
    Dit is van invloed op een of meer werkstromen.
    Werkstroomnaam: Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.AD.DomainController.GCSearchTime.Monitor
    Exemplaarnaam: RODC02
    Our servers have Belgian (Dutch) regional settings, hence the language. But check out the highlighted info in bold.
    The related event Number (in Alert Context) is 21404. Most other articles about this, mention 21402 or 21403. I suppose they all must be related but still, it's a new one here.
    There you have the failing VBS file. I checked all alerts and there seem to be different files concerned overall. Other examples:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 233\22737\AD_Database_and_Log.vbs    (from almost all RODCs)
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 196\19876\Microsoft.Windows.Server.Legacy.FreeSpace.vbs
      (also from an RODC)
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Operations Manager\Server\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 5891\338282\Microsoft.Windows.Server.CPUUtilization.Monitortype.vbs 95 15
    SCOM02.mydomain.be 1.4119384288787842     (this one is from my second Management Server..)
    Repeat count of the alert is 1 to 2 a day, so it's not nightmareish, but still, requires to be fixed. I suspect that even if there is a different VBS file concerned, since the eventID and the alert text are the same, the repeat count will just increase,
    not showing the last actual VBS concerned.
    I connect to each of these servers, and browse to the directory containing the file, and the folder is there, the file is there.  The error text mentions incorrect parameters but they still seem OK to me.
    I found something which might be worth noting:  when browsing to the directory, be it on an RODC or on the SCOM server, I get a permission popup requiring some admin rights to do so - although I am using my domain admin (+SCOM+SQL+local
    admin everywhere) account:
    SCOM services use the Local System account to run, on every machine. I thought Local System shouldn't be concerned with these permissions popups, but normally the domain/local admins aren't either, yet I am.
    The "Health service" folder is the only one from the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent" folder to be concerned with this; I can browse without trouble to any other directory there.
    After a SCOM service stop, I renamed the "Health Service state" folder (as you can see on the screenshot, there is a "Health Service State bak" folder) and let the service recreate it after a restart, to ensure it was clean and with
    appropriate permissions , but it doesn't help.
    Might that be a clue?
    Or else what?  I'm getting confused and don't find a suitable solution.

  • Windows failed to start: Insert Windows installtion disk?

    Satellite A205-S5843
    Windows Update the night before. Next day, the browser  was stalling. Eventually Task Manager reported Web Site Browser was not running. I closed down all programs and hit Restart. At the restart all that came on was a small image like when an image is loading. It continued for 20 minutes. None of the buttons would do anything, not even the power button or escape button. I finally unplugged the machine. Now when I turn on the power, I get the following message...
    =============
    Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
    1. Insert your Windows installation disk and restart your computer.
    2. Choose language settings. Click next.
    3. Click "Repair your computer"
    file: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc0000001
    Info: An error occurred whi;e attempting to read the boot configuration data.
    ============
    Things I have tried:
    Disks. I do not have the Windows disk. The recovery disk I made and filed when I purchased the machine gave the same error.
    Various button combinations. F8 key + power button. 0 (zero) key + power button. F2 and F12 are the only buttons I can access. I tried Reset to Defaults. Same results on power start.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Recovering to the factory default setup, and rebuilding from there, while not always necessary, is still a good thing every now and then, especially if your system has become quite messed up or corrupted.
    I am glad you were able to work it out with your Toshiba Recovery disks. In double checking your specs, it would seem your system never came with the Recovery Partition on your hard drive. Otherwise, there would have been the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator program listed on your pre-installed software, which it is not. So, keep those Recovery Disks safe, and maybe think of making disk copies of each to have a spare.

  • On Windows 7 Enterprise OS, Firefox failed to start when upgrading to any higher versions after 6.0.2

    Hi
    Please can you help me with this?
    Currently I am running Firefox version 6.0.2 on my Windows 7 Enterprise OS Desktop.
    When I try to update Firefox, installations completes successfully. However when trying to launch Firefox, browser window is not opened. It was showing a 'Firefox failed to start' error message for versions before 11. For the latest version i.e 11, no error messages are displayed. When trying to launch application, no browser window is opened, but I can see Firefox process running in Task Manager. I tried to do a clean install by removing all add-ins and also deleting Firefox folder under program files. It did not solve the problem.
    Thanks
    Chandra

    Ok, well let's try going straight to what the problem probably is, a corrupted profile.
    Can you please read [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles], and create a new testing profile? Start Firefox 6 up using the new profile, then close it. After you've done that, upgrade to Firefox 11, and try starting, again using the new profile. If everything works, then you just had a corrupted profile, and you can read [[Recovering important data from an old profile|Recovering important data from an old profile]], which explains how to transfer your data from your old one to your new profile.
    Let me know if this helps!

  • Network: Unknown / The dependency service or group failed to start

    Hello, MicroSoft tech crew. I know my issue is not something new to you, there are earlier posts with similar to identical problems to mine. For a whole day I tried everything I could find on the internet to fix my issue, but nothing seemed to work.
    I cannot connect to the internet. My network and sharing center displays the following, instead of the map:
    Unknown
    The dependency service or group failed to start.
    I am running windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
    I used ESET NOD32 as antivirus. I uninstalled it the day this issue appeared.
    I have no restore point.
    Any other computer or device can successfully connect to my router.
    Re-installing a fresh copy of windows is not an option.
    These are the solutions I tried and didn't work:
     I tried restarting the router (1 minute power-off)
     I HAVE reinstalled my drivers for both LAN and WAN network cards at least twice each.
    ~ I  ran the following commands in CMD as administrator over 3 times, successfully, followed by reboot:
    * sfc /scannow
    * netsh winsock reset // netsh winsock reset catalog
    * netsh int ip reset // netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
    I have checked the following in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servicel\NlaSvc has always had full control and read permissions for both SYSTEM and Administrators.
    I replaced my nlasvc.dll file from C:\Windows\System32\ with one from another computer (and set TrustedInstaller as its owner)
    Booting in Safe mode with networking does not change this situation.
    These are some of my services. Note that I turned some of those from Manual to Automatic.
    1) COM+ Event System
    * Automatic, Started
    2) Computer browser
    * Automatic, Started
    3) DHCP Client
    * Automatic, Stopped
    * When I attempt to start this service I get this error message:
      "Windows could not start the DHCP Client Service on Local Computer."
      "Error 1186: Element not found."
    * Dependencies:
    3.1) Network Store Interface Service
    * Automatic, Started
    4) DNS Client
    * Automatic, started
    5) Network Connections
    * Automatic, Started
    6) Network Location Awareness
    * Automatic, Stopped
    * When I attempt to start this service I get this error message:
      "Windows could not start the Network Location Awareness service on Local Computer."
      "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start"
    * Dependencies:
    6.1) Network Store Interface Service
    * Automatic, Started
    6.2) Remote Procedure Call (and all it depends on)
    * Automatic, Started
    7) Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    * As stated above: Automatic, Started
    8) Server
    * Automatic, Stopped
    * When I attempt to start this service I get this error message:
      "Windows could not start the Server service on Local Computer."
      "Error 50: The request is not supported."
    * Dependencies:
    8.1) Security Accounts Manager (and the RPC)
    * Automatic, Started
    9) TCP/IP Netbios helper
    * Automatic, Started
    10) Wireless Zero Configuration (XP)
    * Nonexistent
    11) WLAN AutoConfig
    * Automatic, Started
    12) Workstation
    * Automatic, Started
    Also, my ipconfig /all looks very strange. I am not allowed to post pictures yet, but this is the image on skydrive server:
    /#cid=2168FA597AC0EAF1&id=2168FA597AC0EAF1%21107

    I follow your solution and found the
    Network Location Awareness service
    could not start.
    Then I found the solution from:
    http://mjmcfalls.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/network-location-awareness-service-terminated-with-service-specific-error-1073741288/
    by running the commands:
    net localgroup administrators localservice /add
    net localgroup administrators networkservice /add
    to add the "Localservice" user and "NetworkService" user
    to the adminstrators group.
    And the problem solved after reboot.

    My computer comes up with Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start verify you have sufficient access privileges dont know to resolve it

    These are the instructions I posted to another topic with this same issue.
    I had this same thing happen on 2 different laptops. I finally called Apple support and they walked me through the repair. Apparently there are compatability issues with Apple software update and Internet Explorer, so if that is your default browser, you will want to download Google Chrome, Firefox or some other web browser and set it as your default. You will still be able to use IE, if you don't uninstall it, but links from e-mail will open in your new default browser, unless you copy and paste the URL into the web address line.
    These are the step-by-step instructions that the tech support person walked me through. She said that it is important that you do these steps in this order.
    1. Go to your Control Panel and open Programs and Features.
    2. Find and uninstall iTunes from the list.
    3. Find and uninstall Apple Software Update.
    4. Find Apple Mobile Device Support and REPAIR this file. This is the problem child, so you must repair it first.
    5. After you have repaired it, uninstall it.
    6. If Apple Mobile Device Support is not removed from your program list, restart your computer and go back into the Control Panel and Programs an Features. If the file is still there, repeat Repair and then uninstall. It should now be removed from the list.
    7. Restart your computer.
    8. Go back into your Control Panel and Programs and Features and then find BONJOUR. Uninstall Bonjour.
    9. Find Apple Application Support and uninstall it.
    10. Restart your computer.
    11. Upon restart, you may receive an "AppleSyncNotifier.exe - System Error" if you have iCloud attached to your account. This is normal and will be fixed when you reinstall iTunes.
    12. Using Google Chrome (or Firefox or Safari) go to www.apple.com and click on iTunes and then find the button to download iTunes. It will now install properly and be usable.
    13. If for some reason you are not able/allowed to change your default browser to something other than IE, then you should uncheck the box to automatically update iTunes during the install process or you may end up having to redo this fix.
    Hope this helps everyone with this problem. I have now gone through this process with two of my laptops, both of them with successful results. If this does not work, I strongly urge you to contact Apple for additional assistance.

    Hi,

    Hi
       Do you see any event error ?
       You can open ExchangeSetup.log and find out the reason.
       I just search same cases.
    The cause of the problem is that the msExchServerSite attribute on the server object does not get updated automatically and the Microsoft Exchange Service Fails to start.
      open adsiedit
       a. Browsed to location: CN=USA,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=exchange,DC=local
    b. Copied the distinguishedName value of the site and pasted it in a notepad.
    c. Again browsed to location: CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=Exchange,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=exchange,DC=local
    d. Kept refreshing this location until my Exchange 2010 HT server name papered there. The moment it appeared I did the below steps real quick.
    e. Opened Properties and located attribute:
    msExchServerSite
    f. Double clicked on the attribute and pasted the value that I copied from site distinguishedName.

  • Service 'MSExchangeTransport' failed to start

    Good morning all,
    I am trying to install exchange 2010 on a Windows 2008 R2 sp1 server.  We have an existing exchange 2003 instance on our old server, a windows 2003 sp2 SBS server.  We had an awful lot of DNS problems and active directory troubles when getting
    this server installed (its a domain controller) but everything seems to be ok.  However, whenever I try to install exchange I get the following error:
    "Service 'MSExchangeTransport' failed to start. Check the event log for possible reasons for the service start failure"
    I've ensured that IPv6 is enabled, I've checked that the .net port sharing service is started and I've tried changing the service to run as a local user with access to the desktop, I'm still getting the same error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    I use autologin to console (and then to X via bash_profile) and there is no glitch except that I find that getting to desktop takes a little longer these days. Thought it is due to psd. I have no idea when this happened as things have been OK.
    Any advice? I suspect that cron's failure is due to this issue though honestly I have no basis to think so. Systemctl shows cronie.service loaded and running. System is up to date.

    With all the changes over the past year, I have been wanting to set up a fresh installation to remove any old issues that might not have been properly dealt with over time. This current issue, and the fact that the move to consolidate everything to /usr/bin has happened, tilted the balance.
    New installation, login is OK, no repeated messages from systemd-logind, cronie is working.
    Why the problems, I have no idea. But the new installation is working well.

  • Repository Browser does not start

    Hi,
    the repository browser service fails to start with the following error:
    Error loading web-app 'owbb' at C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb\j2ee\owbb: Unable to find/read file WEB-INF/web.xml in C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb\j2ee\owbb (WEB-INF/web.xml)
    Well, actually the web.xml file above does not exists...
    Oracle 11 running on Windows Vista.
    Any idea?
    Kind regards,
    Corrado

    You got it Robert,
    my owbb folder contained only 500 files against the 1400 inside the owbb.war.
    I extracted a fresh copy from owbb.war and now it works.
    The strange thing is I got no errors when I installed Oracle 11 last week.
    By the way, there's a bug related to Windows Vista.
    The Repository Browser Listener need to be started as Administrator.
    But starting a batch file as Administrator reset the working directory to C:\Windows\System32.
    This way startOwbbInst.bat can't find anymore another batch file it references (setowbenv.bat).A quick workaround is to add
    cd C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb\bin\win32
    (replace it with your real path of course) at the start of startOwbbInst.bat and stopOwbbInst.bat.
    Kind regards,
    Corrado

  • REP-52266: The in-process Reports Server rep_myhostname failed to start

    Hi Everyone,
    My name is John and I've a small 10g report configuration issue which I would like to share and, hopefully, some of you might already have come across it and able to assist and guide me through it.
    First, I've installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g 10.1.2.0.2 together with Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2 and Oracle Forms Developer 10.1.2.0.2 onto a 32bit Window 2000 Professional machine.
    I've tried to run the following URL which test for the servlet connectivity and it returns fine with all the valid reports servlet commands page.
    http://myhostname:8889/reports/rwservlet
    However, as I've tried to run the 'test.rdf' report using the following link:
    http://myhostname:8889/reports/rwservlet?destype=cache&desformat=PDF&report=test.rdf&userid=user/pass@host
    And it returns the following error on the browser:
    REP-52266: The in-process Reports Server rep_myhostname failed to start.oracle.reports.RWException: IDL:oracle/reports/RWException:1.0
    Then I set trace option on in the myhostname.conf file and restart the OC4J instance. And the trace file has the following results:

    I've not changed any of the report's related configuration files and the java version of the machine is 1.4.2_06. I do not know whether I need to apply a patch for this particular Developer Suite version or is there something which I've not done in terms of post-installation tasks. Thank you for your time and effort. Any feedback is much appreciated as I've been spending a number of days to solve this problem. Thank you and have a nice day.
    Kind Regards,
    John

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply and here is the output of the rwEng-0.trc file. I could not find anything "interesting" as you mentioned. Please let me know if you find anything missing in there. Also, currently there is only one network printer setup on the machine. Can you please elaborate on the printer bit as I'm unsure of what to troubleshoot. Also, I forgot to inform you that I have a previous version of Developer 2000 Form and Report installed prior to the 10g Developer Suite installation. Does it ring a bell to any other problem? Thank you again for your time and effort. Have a nice day.
    Kind Regards,
    John

    Hey SumiGhosh,
    I would suggest to do a clean reload of the BlackBerry® device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320, please test before restoring any data to the device.
    If this resolves the issue do a selective restore of essential data (Address Book, Calendar, Task, Memos, BBM contacts etc.)

    If the issue still persists after the reload, further investigation might be required. To help further diagnose the cause, contact your wireless service provider or BlackBerry® Technical Support Services for further review and support.
    Thank you
