N95 Crashes

Hi, Ive got a problem with my Nokia 95 with 3. Model number N95-1. Original N95 running software 12.0.013. The problem started as soon as i recieved it from 3 whenever i try and access any big apps mainly GPS,Internet or try and go in 3-D view the phone just freezes cuts out and shows a black screen then after a while a white screen comes up with nokia written across it. Only way to get back on is by taking batterey out and putting back in even then sometimes just a black/white screen comes up!! Also happens when playing music etc. Sent away to 3 Repair centre and 3 days later stil the same result. I have tried re-installing firmware and doing a hard-reset! Any suggestions????

Hi... you can try a FIRMWARE UPDATE (reinstall). I had pretty strange behaviors with my phone in the past (for example, I was unable to open any application) and I tried a HARD RESET four times. At the end, the only solution was REINSTALLING the firmware.
If you have a software problem, this should fix it.

  • N95 Crashes and Hangs

help please. My N95 crashed more than five times within 24 hours of my getting it. It would just show the logo and hang without rebooting or prompting to indicate whats gone wrong. For a while, removing and replacing the battery and SIM made it boot up again -- only to crash again a few hours after.
The N95 sent me running to the nearest nokia service center where they re-installed the software and managed to make it boot up again. But just when I thought the problem was solved, the darn phone crashed again when I tried to put in a new contact (ironically, the number of nokia repair!) The phone is now back in its box while I contemplate returning it to the store.
Thing is, I haven't even tried half the applications. Just setting up contacts seems enough to make the whole system collapse. This is the most unstable phone I've ever used!
Is my phone a lemon or is anyone else having the same problems? What's causing the crash and what should I do?

  • N95 crashes in Data transfer via USB cable, help?

I ve been using my N95 with no problems for more than a year. Sometime ago I bought a new 8Gb Micro SDHC memory card, it was recognised by the phone and worked perfectly. But after the card was stored with data for more than 1gb, the phone crashes everytime I try to copy even the smallest file on the memory card through Data transfer mode via USB cable. Than I try to copy a file an error message is displayed in Windows XP and the phone reboots. The strangest thing that I can copy without a problem even a 500 mb movie file to the phone if the stored space on the memory card is say like 985mb, but after that it will crash even with the copying a 10 kb text file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

No, its not the file system or Memory card itself - cause transfering a data through a card reader works fine and the phone recognize correctly everything transfered. Can it be the case of USB cable driver? May be I need to install it or go for a newer version? BTW, I removed Nokia PC Suite from my notebook - cause I dont used it much, but this program still used a lot of my PC resources without asking to. I belive that PC Suite is not nesessary for using the phone through a Data Transfer mode?

  • N95 crashes when reconnecting BT handsfree device

    Hi Everyone...
i've been using the N95 since early Apr and the problem starts about 1.5months ago..
the phone used to hangs and restarts itself 3-4 times a day when i answer a call, but off late, it's been restarting once i re-connect my BT handsfree device to it.
if i were to switch the handsfree device off completely and then re-connecting it, there will be no problem. It only happens if the connection were lost and i try to reconnect them whilst both device are turned on.
fyi, i'm using the original firmware V10.0.018.
    anyone having similar problem?
btw, i used to be able to redial my last dialed number using my BT handsfree device, but i can't do that now..strange strange strange...oh, i'm using Sony Ericsson's HBH610a.
    daryl

I had exactly the same problem until i updated the firmware.
Random restarts, bluetooths crashes, locking out of bluetooth devices, people were unable to hear my conversation but I could hear them fine... the list goes on.
Back up your contacts and data and upgrade the firmware, it seems to be faster and I have only had a 1 restart in 3 weeks
Guess that is a a measure as was getting 5-6 a week.

PS also the bluetooth sw is not that well written the redial function works on some headsets only

  • N95 crashes....alot

hi. ive had a nokia n95 for a while now and never really had any trouble with it. recently it keeps crashing. not just now and again, i mean every time i want to send a text, make a phone call, even listen to music. it sometimes gets so bad i cant slide the phone up without it crashing. ive done a hard reset, reformatted my memory card so i know i haven't got a virus, updated to the newest version firmware. but nothing. if anything i think the problem has got worse. any ideas guys because i really need my phone and i dont want to send it off for repair. i know everyone has problems with the phone restarting but i don't think anyone has got it this bad. 30-40 times a day and my battery is now on constant charge. also spent £30 on a genuine bl-5f but nothing. thanks for any help at all if anyone knows any solutions

Have you tried removing the card?
New card sizes have caused problems in the past - for some reason, it seems the firmware has to be tweaked each time a new size card is released. No, I don't understand why either.
If there are compatibility issues with the card - and particularly if you have anything stored on the card that the phone needs to use a lot like wallpaper or ring tones - it *might* explain the instability.

  • Help, N95 crashing

Hi, my n95 seems to be good at doing simple tasks like texting and taking photos but when I try and do something a bit more complicated like taking a TV quality video or trying to edit videos it keeps on crashing.
My phone is up to date and I want to see if there is any way of fixing this before I format it or get a new phone.

well probably you have some issue with the symbian operating system and the camera program maybe there is some conflict between them. You should probably take it to the nokia care point and let them take care of it!

  • Nokia N95 Crashed,Dead

I have tried to update my Nokia N95 software and accidentally
unplug my USB cable. I lost everything on it id dead (Crashed)
I took it to Nokoa service (Australia) but they couldn't help me
as I purchased my N95 in Hong Kong It is not under warranty I offer to in cash, they told me to send it back to HK to get it fixed. Is NOKIA No.1 my understanding is they should be able to fix it anywhere in the World their product (N95) Can anyone help me please

I personally have had trouble with a Nokia Care Centre in Australia. I believe from what I have been told that the ncc's in Australia have no connection with Nokia. They are privately owned and operated service centre's and service Nokia phones on behalf of Nokia Australia. As you purchased your phone in HK it is probably outside of their scope to repair it. I would suggest that you telephone the Nokia Australia call centre (phone number in white pages phone book) and seek their guiedance.

  • N95 crash

Hello can anbody help ? during an update of the phones software my computer crashed. Now I have an N95 that won't power up. All that happens is the backlight shows the nokia logo and nothing else. My pc cannot sync with it etc. Any ideas or have I now Got to scrap the phone.
    Solved!

In any event, the phone no longer responsing as a result of using NSU is something a Nokia Care Point can deal with. The best news is, if the phone is still under guarantee (remember, you have a 2-year guarantee in the EU), "unfreezing" a phone frozen by NSU will be free of charge.

  • [N95] Crashing on data connection

After updating firmware from first 30.x series to latest 31.0.017 I immediatelly spotted a problem when using data connection.
Phone will spontaneously crash and reboot when (using Packet data bearer connection).
    Phone details:
    N95 (07.01) , RM-159, fw v 31.0.017.
There are no direct steps how to reproduce this, but I'm able to reproduce this with this software running on phone simultaneously:
    - Music player in background
    - Opera mini in front and browsing
(- Connection manager sometimes, not needed for crash to occur).
    - Earphones with custom profile activated (maybe relevant)
On a 2 hour journey my phone crashed with an ugly hissing sound and rebooted about 4 times, always witth same pattern of usage: music player in background, opera mini in front and browsing with a packet data bearer type of connection.
This doesn't happend at all if using wirelless connection (I did next day at home for several hours with same applications).
Back on my way I tried with setting from Dual Mode to GSM, but it was crashing nevertheless.
It seems to me that this occurs when network coverage is changing rapidly from no coverage at all to Edge or maybe 3G.
It's a freshly updated phone, only removed Ngage stuff and installed Opera Mini, FireEagle updater (http://fireeagle.yahoo.net/j2me),  and CorePlayer 1.3.0 (original version, non-cracked).
One of crashes happened also when I used fireeagle (was updating status) with music player in background. Maybe it is java app + network related?
Cannot test with symbian native apps since using e.g. builtin browser will generate great amount of data traffic, which is expensive.

Does this happen when doing anything else while phone is connected via USB? In PC Suite mode?
If it happens all the time, I would recommened uninstalling Nokia PC Suite, Nokia connectivity cable drivers and PC Connectivity solutions and then redownload Nokia PC Suite from www.nokia.com/pcsuite

if the product is under warranty then the warranty is region specific, meaning dependent on where you bought it not necessairly where you live. Nokia Care Point may repair your phone in another region but it is going to cost you some good money, at least that is what i think might happen

  • Nokia n95 crashes while upgrading the software

When I was trying to install new software using nsu to my nokia n95. I noticed that the phone goes off and the nokia logo appeared (the light is off).
In a minute, the PC I was using told me that the phone has been disconnected. So, it asks me to turn the phone off, remove and replace the battery and turn the phone on again.
It happens again and again, about 4 times. The last time I tried that again, the phone won't turn back on.
It just has the nokia logo and nothing else happened. I tried the hard reset (green button things) but it still didn't work.
    So, please help me.
    thanks.

Go into your control panel, System > Hardware > Devices, look for the USB (Universal Serial Bus Controllers)
    [+]USB
    Generic USB hub
    Bleah
    Bleah
Simply right mouse click on all of them select "uninstall" once they've all been removed, restart your machine, windows will re detect all your USB devices, and hopefully this time windows will install either a newer or older version, different version of drivers.
Then re-install..... there's not a lot else you can try.

  • N95 Faulty or Bug Ridden?

My N95 is driving me to distraction. It slows to a crawl or even a complete halt all the time during any number of operations. It crashes all the time and becomes completely unresponsive to the point I have to remove the battery to switch it off in order to switch it back on again. The web browser can only ever manage a couple of pages before giving the message "Web: No gateway reply". When this occurs there is no chance of further browsing without switching the phone off and back on again. My Netgear router happily communicates wirelessly with several other computers in the house. I was very excited about getting an N95 but having had it for three days I''m on the verge of sending it back. Any ideas?

I have a Nokia N95 (original silver model) on T-Mobile contract. I hate the phone. I loved it when I saw it for the first time and saw its capabilities but the more I live with it the more it aggravates me.
From first owning it I have had major problems with it. It has always crashed when I use it for anything other than voice calls. My contract includes the T-Mobile Flex-T option which gives me unlimited data usage.... just a pity my phone doesn't support it!! Let me explain:
I can browse the web on my phone for several minutes until eventually the phone crashes, by crashing I mean the phone switches itself off, the screen goes black and originally the backlight would remain lit. The on/off switch is inoperable and to get the phone back on I have to remove the battery and replace it several times before the phone will switch back on and work properly without crashing again. If I try to use the phone as a modem for my laptop the phone allows a limited amount of use (about 20 minutes) before crashing in exactly the same way... black screen, remove battery, etc.
Now the marvellous thing is, once I resigned myself to not having data usage on my phone I thought "Ok, I'll just pretend I have stepped back in technology stakes and pretend the N95 is an old fashioned text and call handset". Except the phone crashes sometimes when I'm texting. It crashes when I try to install applications, also when I try to run existing applications. In fact, I am sure if the wind is blowing in a north-north westerly direction whilst carry the scent of paprika and jalapeno salsa, the trusty N95 crashes.
Now being on contract I thought, after a long time of living with it, I may as well approach T-Mobile and ask for a repair. They arranged collection by SBE Ltd who did a software update and sent it back saying it worked because they should know, they did a live test.... which involved making a phone call!! I contacted T-Mobile again to say it was still the same and vocied my annoyance that they had only upgraded the firmware, something I could have done myself. They advised me the handset would go to a more "advanced technician" for examination. SBE Ltd sent it back having upgraded the software and doing a "live call" test. Hmmmmm.... what now. So I phoned Vodafone Customer Care and was advised that, yes indeed the problem seems more complex than a simple repair so therefore take it into a repair centre, Carphone Warehouse in Gateshead. I took it in. It was a way for four weeks and when I got it back, guess what? Yes they'd updraded the software!! But also they had fiddled about with some hardware they reckon. And yes, the phone still crashes!! Not as much as before but data use is impossible.
The one saving grace is that now the crash is more refined. Instead of just hanging with a black screen, the phone's screen now fades to black instead of just blinking off! The battery still needs to be removed several times to get the phone working again!! Arrggghh! What can I do? T-Mobile claim there is nothing else they can do. Nokia aren't forthcoming with a solution and my contract has five months left to run. I can't help but feel the N95 isn't fit for purpose and yet it still hits the shops and the general market.

  • Problems replying to texts & opening contacts with...

I woke up for work as normal today, turned my alarm off on my phone. Got my lift to work and went to reply to a text i recieved the previous night. I click reply but instead it sends me back to the recieved text!
How do I solve that problem?
I try to open my contact page and it sends me back to the previous screen i.e the main screen.
Any ideas how to fix it?
I can recieve calls/texts and ring numbers that are in my calls list. If I got to type a number my N95 crashes and restarts.
    What is going on!?
I would much appreciate any help

  • N96 Nightmare

I purchased my N96 when my N95 was stolen, in December 2008. I have now upgraded to the newest firmware 12.043. The phone does not perform, and seems to crash and be full of bugs! I am concerned that Nokia could release something as bad as this!
I run a program called Interactive Voice Call Master v2.32(3310), to avoid unwanted calls and to record my conversations, a program that worked fine on my N95 8GB. Apart from that, I am only running the standard applications pre-installed on the phone.
My subscription from Movistar Telefonica (Spain) includes unlimited usage of the Internet, and includes all normal services like MMS, WAP etc. However, I like to have 100% control of my equipment, so I bought a phone that was not locked to an operator. I also have a pay as you go subscription with another carrier, and encounter the same problems there.
    I encounter the following problems:
    1. Map and Navigation software does not always allow me to connect to the internet when abroad - which is where I need it.
    2. The selection of internet connection is faulty.
    3. Running several programs, which worked on N95, crashes the handset.
Furthermore I regret that I don't believe a company like Nokia can hide behind "releasing beta software". The life expectancy of the handset and the software is far below there ever being a proper release of them.
My choice for the future will be to choose another supplier.

nokia never test there handsets when they relase it first to the public coz they just want to get it out on the market n sell sell sell and as time progress with new firmwares u get the odd firmware that should rectify old problems but dont and have new bugs.
BUT and this is a big BUT sometimes they release a firmware which be's so buggy it just makes me think is it some sort of BETA firmware that nokia could not be bothered to test before release.
