N95 firmware 20.0.015

Hi.
I've started to update my software to the above version. I have now had a box on my PC telling me that it is 'preparing installation' and not to remove the cable for around 2 hours.
Does it usually take so long? Not sure how much longer I can leave it running for.

It's probably safer not to try to update using that computer until you know it's running well. You've had a lucky escape if the phone is still usable.
A nokia care point can update it for you if you want to be safe.

N95 Firmware v20.0.015 Taking a long time

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how long the firmware update should take?
I have had the Nokia Software Updater "Downloading Updates" for about an hour.
I have a fairly fast internet connection if that helps?

Something has gone wrong with the update or you tried to update using a dial-up internet connection.
You could try a hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. When the message 'Formatting' appears on the screen, release all of the buttons.
If this fails then your only option is a repair which will be covered under warranty.

New N95 firmware - 20.0.015

This is showing as available on the N95 NSU.
Does anyone have any info?

It is available on O2 if your product code is 0536062.
Mine was 0548021 but somehow tonight it miraculusly altered ;-)
Seamless upgrade.... I thought, till I went to phone a friend - no contacts :-o
Fortunately I was able to bring them back by selecting just the 'contacts' from a PC Suite backup last week - PHEW!!
Well I am now the proud owner of the N95 myself and Nokia actually wanted me to have when I first saw it advertised.
Got some great features on it now, one of which is PTT, anyone got a clue what it really is and how to set it up?
Is it like a modern day walkie talkie? using WiFi or GSM/3G
One other thing - previous to this update I didn't have A-GPS. Does this new version have it and if it does how do I know its activated / working?
I turned 'Maps' on and it took the usual 20 mins for initial lock but on subsequent starts it doesn't look to be too lively in getting a fix. (I am indoors though, but didn't think that mattered with A-GPS)Message Edited by raptorflyer on 26-Nov-200708:48 PM

N95 Firmware Update

Hi all,
Just updated my n95 firmware last night to the latest v20.0.015.
Everything seems fine now, no random restarts, the phone is faster than ever and taking pictures and viewing the gallery is great now!
The only thing that's gone wrong is the slide for the Media Buttons no longer activates the media player nav screen.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Anyone holding Nokia n95 8gb and upgrade singtel branded firmware v15.0.015 and had chinese pack corrupted?

Hello All,
I had upgraded my firmware again and the chinese font pack came back.
I am not sure if I downloaded my nokia software updater from Europe (which is a wrong version) or Nokia just uploaded a latest firmware of firmware.
This is the method which I had tried and it works.
I uninstall the NSU which I had and download again from this nokia website: http://www.nokia.com.sg/A4759024
and install.
Previously the firmware files were 105MB, but the firmware files were 111.2MB after I had downloaded the NSU from the Singapore Nokia website. I think the file size is bigger because of the Chinese fonts.
After I had upgrade, it shows :
Before version:
V 15.0.015
11-12-07
RM-320
Nokia N95 (54.01)
After the flash version,
V 15.0.015
11-12-07
RM-320
Nokia N95 (54.02)
So it means that you don't have to troublesomely take your phone back to the nokia care centre and queue up. Additionally you can save your time to do this at home.

It's the same firmware as the 12.0.13 just it's an Asian version.

No one knows here the exact date. But it will come soon with stuffs except 2.8" screen and bigger battery.

Risk involved in N95 Firmware update

I want to update my N95 firmware but at the same am frightened that if my internet disconnects during update process, then what would happen. Is there any risk for my N95 if such thing happens. If the update is not complete and my internet didconnects, then would my N95 work properly?
Is there any way I can download the latest firmare to my PC and then update N95 from PC via cable?

Do not attempt the update if you use dial-up internet. You need broadband.
I've read that a lot of people have had phone failures when using dial up.
If you don't have broadband or a stable connection then visit a care point/service centre and ask them to do it. It's free while the phone is under warranty.

N95 firmware v12 and media player problem

Hi,
In firmware version 10, when I want to go in Media Player, I pressed and holded shortcut key for once then gone in Media Player. But now, In firmware version 12, for going in to Media Player, Sometimes I should press and hold shortcut key for ONCE and sometimes for TWOICE !!!

This is a known issue which should be resolved in the next release of the N95 firmware.

N95 active standby problem w. firmware 30.0.015

I have this problem with my N95:
-I upgraded to firmware 30
-restored my backup
-each time I press the RED key it exists to standby, but the shorcuts won`t load, and the phone`s menu starts with a delay of a few secs maybe
-everything works fine until I restore my backup...
What can cause the problem?
Any suggestions...???

hmmmm. try resetting ur phone..
type *#7370# (u will loose all data on phone C Drive but not memory card)
after that restore each back up individually eg. contacts den calender den messages etc.

Muvee on Firmware V30.0.015 N95

Hi Guys, I cant find the Muvees on V30.0.015 at all, can someone please help? also is avliable on the N96 v11 firmware?

Muvee was removed from a previous firmware because the company that made it withdrew permission for nokia to use it.
Unfortunately it's not possible to get it back and it isn't available on any other models that have been released in at least the last year.

Updating N95 Firmware! Some important questions

My N95 is currently running on V20.0.013. A major improvement in update were found in V20.0.015. Now a days the latest firmware is V21.0.016.
Q1. If I update my N95 to 21.0.016, then would I get all the improved features of V20.0.015 as well or should I update my N95 step wise, i.e., first to 20.0.015 and then 21.0.016 to have all improvements. In V20.0.015, there were improvements in menu structure.
Q2. I have pre-installed multi language dictionary on microSD card provided in the sale package. If I update my N95 to V21.0.016, would this dictionary still work or I have to re-install it again?
Q3. Is there any problems which anyone encountered after updating N95 to V21.0.016? Any draw backs of this latest V21.0.016 software?
I totally depend upon you technical guys, and always get satisfied with the nice cooperation of this forum members. I hope you'll guide me this time as well.

Some answers to you here.
A1. A new firmware will always wipe out everything in the phone memory. Absolutely no need to update first to 20.0.015. Go straight to 21.0.016.
But the previous firmware to 20.0.15 was 13.0.003.
A2. After an update of a firmware you need to reinstall everything. The memory card, though, is not affected and you do not even have to keep it in.
A3. There may be some problems or odd functions, but all together the 21 firmware is better than the 20 firmware.

hi all.
nokia,thanks for new firmware and flash lite3 and web runtime.
but old bugs are still stay and didnt solve.
after auto focus and capturing,screen is black for afew seconds.
the tone of second camera is broken and crashed.
standby time dosnt have a appreciable change.
the menu layer dosnt change.
n-gage program is like v.20.0.015(it isnt bug)
map version is still 1.00(it isnt bug)
we anticipate many new feature and difference from v.20.0.015!!!

listen n95 users who updated their firmware to v21.
when i learned yesterday that v21 was out, i didnt wait another second to get the new firmware. like most of you guys would do. i made a back up of my files first and then downloaded the freshly brought out upgrade.
the flash 3 support was cool and the web runtime. the phone seemed to work faster too.
but the next 2 thing ill tell you is something what i would call very saddening about this upgrade.
1. the camera flash lights doesnt work anymore. even if you set it on force flash
2. today ( 2nd day of v21 in possession) my phone stopped working and the screen went all black. i thought my phone crashed so i did what i usually do when it happens. i pulled the battery out for about 3 mins but the screen remained black. fyi, a phone that's turned off shows a blank screen. i put it back, same story. my phone is dead and i couldnt turn it on anymore. i immediately drive by the nearest nokia point center and ask if they could fix it. i had to leave my phone there for inspection and reparation. that means i would be able to use it for a couple of days. and this is very tragic.
is there anyone there that encountered the same problem?
piece of advice to those who havent have theyre phone upgraded: wait a couple of days first, and listen to what those who downloaded v21 on their phone. v21 is what i call DOWNGRADE in this matter. im very disappointed with this new firmware....

(not the 8GB) Choose the N95 and then
Click on the Go Button
Then under the big flashy purple advert,
Click on > Update your Nokia N95
Then read the text under >

Here is states:
Software version 20.0.015

device's battery, stability and performance etc.,
Is this version still available? and if so,
how do I get it. Also, why is it
that when you follow the links to the Software Updater
for the N95 it comes up with Version 21.0.016

The information on nokia's site sounds like it's a bit out of date. Some of the regional sites can be a bit slow.
The latest version is v30 which released a few days ago.
When you use the nokia software updater it offers you the latest version thats available for your specific phone, based on it's product code.
The latest version isn't always available for all product codes, especially those that belong to network branded models. This is because the networks have to approve new firmware before nokia can distribute it.
If the updater offers you v21 or v30 there is no way to choose an earlier version instead.
