Help: Flash 9 - Video problem - OS X
OS X 10.4.8
I installed Flash 9 today, since then no more Google video.
Browser crashes each time. Also with other sites that use Google
video. Tried uninstall, and install Flash 8: same problem. Cannot
get back to previous situation where everything worked fine.
Also problem with msnbc, no video, claims plugin missing.
Youtube works fine.Hi,
folder deleted, after reinstall only the two flash files in
the folder. Same problem.
Worse, now Google Finance also hangs up. Spinning wheel of
death, requires force quit. BTW, this is the same for Firefox,
Safari, and Camino.
If there is no solution, how can I get back to my previous
system. The problem started when the Charlie Rose website required
me to update flash. Before the update everything worked like a
charm. Now problems everywhere. -
For the last couple of weeks i have run into a problem with both U-Tube videaos and yahoo vodeos.
In the middle of the videao a pop-up comes on from either of two entities s.ytimg and d.yimg.
There is a lot of dialogue about this (per google search) but I still don't know if it a virus/malware, or an intrusive adverising site.
Adobe has very vague info on this (they disclaim having anything to do with it) but to me it is unreasonable for U-tube (google) or yahoo to actuallyendorse this .
I never click allow, but the thing is insistant and does not go away.
Any help? Thanks for the added information, but that doesn't alter the fact that Firefox is seriously crippled -- that is to say, useless -- as a medium for web video.
I don't know whether the assertion that Flash 11.3 is "buggy" and it is Adobe's fault is more true, than to say that Firefox 20+ is "buggy" with regard to Flash 11.3.
It seems both developer teams are pointing in the other direction to claim "It's their fault, not ours" and using that as an excuse not to fix the problem.
Since it is unlikely that the complaints of Firefox users is going to move Adobe to "fix" Flash, it seems to me much clearer that it is the obligation of Mozilla to fix Firefox so that it works with Flash.
Again, this problem has gone on for sufficient years, anyone would conclude that Mozilla should have fixed it by now.
What is even more annoying, is the way that Mozilla representatives who should know better, send people who report this problem and quite reasonably ask for a solution, off on 15 dozen different kinds of fools' errands for "solutions" that don't address the problem that anyone with any experience realizes is a basic conflict between Flash 11 and any FF version much beyond 18 or so.
There needs to be a consolidation of all the many different threads addressing this problem with a top-level advisory that all the proffered sub-fixes (blaming this or that setting or plug-in) is really NOT going to solve the fundamental Flash-Firefox video incompatibility.
We FF users are left with the unacceptable choice of abandoning access to Flash videos if we want to continue using FF for all its other capabilities and special features -- or we have to constantly be uninstalling Flash 11, installing Flash 10, watch our videos, then uninstall Flash 10 and reinstall Flash 11 to do anything else.
This is ridiculous.
When is Mozilla going to acknowledge and fix this problem? -
Why does my Flash Player keep freezing during video play back?
I have the very lastest version for Windows 7 64bit OS and it keeps freezing during video play back. The previous versions did not do this. I have to keep the cursor moving inside the video window to prevent the player freezing. I have deslected HARDWARE ACCELERATION and it does not help. Why is this happening and how do I correct this situation?
Right click ANY Flash content and choose "Setings".
Click the folder icon (center tab) and increase the storage to at least 10Mb. -
I am trying to determine if I have a Flash Media Server
problem or if it is an issue with Captivate 3. I have a 22 minute
video that I am streaming using Flash Media Server. Some but not
all users are reporting that the video will be playing and then
suddenly stop and restart from the begining. There does not seem to
be a recurring time in the video that this is occuring. Anyone have
any ideas what might be causing this.
Thanks
BrianHi Brian
I would think one simple way to test would be to provide
simple access to only the video using a means other than Captivate.
I'm not sure if one may create a link from a web page, but if you
can, I'd try that. See if the same affected users see the same
issue. If so, you have effectively ruled out Captivate as a
potential suspect and you know it's probably related to either the
video itself or the streaming software.

Flash SWF video export problem
Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a flash intro with a bunch of video
clips interspersed at different points. I've imported all the clips
using the method to place the individual frames on the timeline.
The video also sometimes is shorter than the alloted time given to
where it is placed on the timeline, so when it gets to the end the
last frame of the video freezes for a few frames, which isn't very
noticeable and is fine. When I play the intro in Flash the video
looks fine but the problem is when I export it to an SWF file. Then
when the actual exported file is played instead of freezing on the
last frame it starts to replay the beginning of the video clip
again, which is noticeable. I am wondering why Flash is changing
what I am seeing on the timeline when I am editing with the
exported file. I really can't re-edit the video clips to add a few
frames. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.export using QUICKTIME CONVERSION not just as quicktime movie and then choose h.264 which makes beautiful pictures at decent data rates.
If this does not work, export native qt movie then open using qt pro and select h,264....
good luck -
Problems with audio during video after itunes update
Recently updated to the new itunes and now there is no audio only during video playback. Tv shows and movies that previously played fine other than synchronization issues now have no audio. Help!
Hello Marcr
If you installed "dreamrecorder" on only one of your Mac laptops, you can use the other Mac to test your iSight to ensure it is functional. Try the suggestions in the " iSight: How to Troubleshoot" link there, too. Once you know that your External iSight is working correctly, you can concentrate on repairing the problem apparently caused by your "dreamrecorder" installation.
Third party applications can sometimes cause conflicts with iSight, especially if they are not installed or uninstalled properly.
Some applications provide "uninstallers" or specific instructions for all steps required to do a proper uninstall. If your "deinstalling" was accomplished by simply dragging such an application to the trash, some changes made when you installed the software may remain and be the cause of your problem. Check the Help or readme documentation for the "dreamrecorder" to be sure you uninstall correctly. Follow those instructions exactly.
You may need to reinstall the software to find the Help or readme info. If you do not want to reinstall to find the Help or readme files, or if they do not give you the help you need, you should be able to get the answers from the software developer's website. The developer may have FAQs, online documentation, or a support forum dedicated to his specific software. Many developers also offer technical support contact information to give you technical assistance by phone or email.
If none of those help you, the best suggestion I can offer for your "dreamrecorder" questions is a Google Search.

Problem with Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder
I have got the trial version of Macromedia Flash 8
(professional). I have no problem running the Macromedia Flash but
when I tried to run the Macromedia Flash 8 Vedio Encoder for the
First time, as it was trying to install the Encoder it gives me an
error as it cannot locate an installation file.
This is the message I am getting in the pop-up message as the
installation stops:
The feature that you are trying to use is on the network
resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an
alternate to a folder containing the installation package
‘Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder.msi’ in the box
below.
User source:
C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp\{2BD5C305-1B27-4D41-B690-7A61172D2FEB}\
Can someone tell what the problem is and how I can get it
fixed? Thank you very much for your time.

common problem, happens with perfectly set up application,
regardless DEMO or
off the CD.
I and up getting ZIP of the encoder from a friend because
multiple unistall, reinstall
did not help.
Happen second time on my laptop, I got fed up and try to fix
it, can't reproduce the steps
but basically I remove QT player and Flash 8. Reinstall QT
first, than Follow by flash 8.
Tried that 4 or 5 times and eventually it start to work.
You can always use it from the program, it works within flash
File - import - import video
than pick the video and go to Progress Download From the
server.
Flash will generated the FLV automatically.

I'm having what I think is video problems since I switched to
CS4. Frequent apparent redraws leave remnants on screen, panels
move back and forth, etc.
I have a Dell Precision 490 with 4gb ram and a nVidia Quadra
fx 550 with 128 megs of ram. Open GL is enabled. I have loaded all
the latest nVidia drivers.
If this sounds like a video card problem, can anyone
recommend a good, not too expensive card? I don't play any games,
just use the machine for PS. ID and Flash mostly.
Thanks in advance.
JonJust to be clear, when you initially did a Burn to Disc for the DVD, it tested and played perfectly, including the full Linked Timelines. It was ONLY with the Flash Export, that things went pear-shaped. Is that correct?
Good luck,

OS X and Flash 10 - multibrowser video problem
I'm at my wit's end.
MacBook (late 2008 Aluminum), OS X 10.5.8, fully updated.
In both Safari 4.0.4 and the latest FireFox, I get the following video result for anything at, for example, www.snotr.com
Other flash-based video sites are hit-and-miss. YouTube is 99% fine, and the problematic 1% may be unrelated.
Other flash videos tend to begin loading, but "stalls".
Using Ctrl-click to access the "Settings" menu usually freezes the page - though it does work on flash at Adobe.com. This settings screen only has one option available, apparently, which is "use hardware acceleration". I had enabled this, and (after going to Adobe.com) finally was able to disable it. NO apparent difference.
Troubleshooting steps:
- uninstalled all non-factory plugins (I was using Click2Flash, Glims, Safari Ad Blocker, Safari Cookies).
- uninstalled (with Adobe uninstaller) and reinstalled Flash and Shockwave Players.
- reset Safari
- deleted and reinstalled Safari 4.0.4
In Safari (my main browser) I have both Java and Javascript enabled.
Interestingly, switching to a second user account, I have no problems... it has to be a software conflict or a preference problem unique to my user account.
Suggestions... before I go completely mad?Hi, first you need to know that my experience with Mac and Safari is limited. However, with a PC using IE or FF, when it
comes to the Flash Player working there is a Shockwave Flash Object ActiveX Control for IE and a SWF plugin for FF.
Both browsers must have these controls for Flash Player to work. I would think Safari would also use a plugin, but not sure.
If you installed from the Adobe site, then you were aware of the download for the different browser. You may want to try the offline Installer.
http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_tn_19166_en-us This is an Adobe troubleshooting link, you may read over it prior to Installing so you
may see what are some issues preventing a successful install (before installing)
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html The Uninstaller that is downloaded to your desktop & run from there.
http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe This is the Installer FOR NON-IE BROWSERS
This is also downloaded to your desktop and run from there.
If you follow the Uninstall procedures and the Install procedures (complying with the requirements) you should be successful.
Hope this is helpful. -
Problem in Flash CS3 video Encoder
Hi,
I am experiencing a bug in the Flash CS3 Video encoder. I
have saved an XML file with settings that I will be using for
numerous video. I have basically set the Data Rate, Frame Rate, Key
Frame Interval, Audio and Video Size. The frame rate is set to
14.98.
When I load the profile that I have saved, the frame rate
stays at 14.98, but if i hit ok, and then click on the settings
again to modify them, the frame rate goes to 'same as source' and
does not stay at 14.98. If I change the frame rate to 14.98 at this
point, it sticks. My question is, why does it go to 'same as
source', and it concerns me, that if I do not manually go in and
change the settings back to 14.98, is it encoding the video at its
current frame rate.
Here is the XML file I use for encoding:It appears that the <FrameRate></FrameRate> node
is only saved to the XML file if you choose something other than
"Same as source". However, it's always a non-standard value.
Evidently, if you are creating your own <FrameRate> value in
a custom XML setting file, you need to multiply the frame rate by
65536. For example, if you want 24 fps in the profile, your XML
should look like the code snippet below. -
