N95 mass storage problem

I recently updated my N95-1 FW. Since then I can't find my mass storage area. When I connect my phone to pc, all it shows me as 1. pc suite 2. data transfer 3.Image printer, 4. Media player. I emptied my memory card and reformated it. I wanted to load Nokia map that I deleted during FW upgrade. I deleted my old pc suite and loaded new one. The map loader tells me the " no storage medium detected".connect your phone via usb. I called nokia USA support line. They did not want to help me since I bought the phone in Europe. How do I access Mass sorage ? please help. I am new to Nokia world.

"I don't have USB option to select. when I go in the device and open USB, I get the same 3 option. if i select data transfer, it transfers from my pone to pc not vice versa."
This doesn't make any sense.
Open USB from Tools.
Then Select "Ask on Connection" and set to YES
Then connect USB cable.
You will get 4 (repeat) 4 options to connect:
PC SUITE
DATA TRANSFER
IMAGE PRINT (OR PICTBRIDGE)
MEDIA PLAYER (MUSIC TRANSFER)
Select DATA TRANSFER.
If these options don't pop up then you have a bad phone or memory card.
What do you mean "if i select data transfer, it transfers from my pone to pc not vice versa."
PC SUITE Mode, DATA transfer and MEDIA PLAYER allow to tranfer files from the device to PC and viceversa what do you mean? explain STEP BY STEP what you do, because I'm lost.

  • N95 Mass storage connection issue.

I have a strange problem with my N95. When I connect to my PC Vista cannot install the drivers for the mass storage/data transfer application. The drivers for PC suite, media player and image print work fine, but it appears that the drivers for Mass Storage are not on the CD.
I decided to upgrade my firmware to attempt to solve the problem, but when using Nokia Software Updater, the program stalls at the detecting device stage (step 2/3).
Can anyone help? As without the ability to connect the phone as a mass storage device, I cannot use Nokia Map Loader (again it will not detect my phone - despite PC suite detecting it fine)

i also have the same problem, but wonder why no one has replied a solution to this issue. as you describe exact same problem. if anything ive found with this phone so far, its a NIGHTMARE.
there was definatly a problem with the firmware when it was first shipped, after this was updated fixed some things, but the WLAN wouldnt work and needed alot of research online to fix it, nokia support to note didnt have a clue. The problem i had was due to setting the aerial to always on, and not power saving. Anyway if someone has an answer as to why the mass storage driver wont install and so i can put the nokia maps on the phome, it would be much appreciated.

  • Ipod not being recognized...Windows XP Mass Storage Problem

I'm like many of you who installed the new Itunes 7 and is having the same connection problems. My 30g video Ipod will not be recognized on my laptop and itunes. I believe my usb cord is working properly because when I connect my ipod into the laptop it charges.
I've tried everything that was said on this forum: the five r's, disk mode, updating drivers, etc.
But I was wondering: I have the iCarPlay FM Transmitter Has anyone noticed, that when they connect their ipod into it, a error pops up on the screen: "USB Connection and Firmwire are not compatible"...something along that line. And now when I connect my ipod, the sound is absoultely terrible! It only comes out of one speaker in my car. My friend owns an ipod nano and hers works perfectly with my transmitter.
Now my other question: I don't see my ipod in the device manager...but I do see is Mass Storage Controller highlighted with a big yellow exclamtion triangle. I click on it and try to install from the ipod cd and nothing happens, I can't even uninstall it. Do you think that's my ipod not working?
Also, I've tried connecting my ipod to my two computer desktops and it's not recognized either and I also tried connecting my ipod to my sister's Mac computer and nothing happens.
Any other suggestions to help my ipod? When the heck is Apple going to respond with a new update?
I should of just bought the Zune instead of the iPod!
Dell Inspiron 700m   Windows XP   laptop

Follow the instructions in this link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 Even if there are no updates available, follow the instructions to reload your USB driver. After that, go into Device Manager, right click on your iPod and reformat it (FAT32). After this go into iTunes and Restore your iPod.
"I should of just bought the Zune instead of the iPod!"
I know you are frustrated, but statements like this don't exactly motivate others here to help you. And if you think that would solve your problem, go to the Zune discussion groups.

  • N96 mass storage problem

    Hi my friends
I have nokia n96 (RM-247) not branded and I experienced some problems after I install the new firmware 30.033. When I connect the phone in mass storage mode I am receiving the following message: Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6f7c 75b6bf7c with options Cancel, Try Again, Continue. I tried all of them but after few seconds the message appears again. I tried this on several computers all of them using windows xp, still the same. When I connect the phone in PC Suite then everything is OK. Any solutions??? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like something has messed up somewhere and created a memory problem
Try taking your memory card out then connecting in mass storage, does the problem persist,
If it does then try the reset factory settings, and see if that helps,
If that doesn't work then go for a format of the mass memory followed by a
hard reset (remember to back up all of your data first)
To format the mass memory, tools, file manager ,E:Mass Memory, options, format
    To hard reset.
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
    3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button for a second to switch on the phone.
    4. Release when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
It may take a few attempts and very flexible fingers.

  • N95 Mass storage mode

how can i transfer my device to the "mass storage mode" to be able to download maps?
    thank you

Hmm maybe you have used the Maps app. while you were connected via USB to your computer. Disconnect your phone from the pc (you may format your card if you don't have any important data on it, just for safe ), run the Map application once to create the folders as mentioned above. Connect your phone to your computer via USB Mass storage mode (described above), then use the Nokia Map Loader application. I couldn't download maps to my phone either, because it was connected to my computer all the while! You have to connect your phone to the computer just for the time you are downloading the maps. So I think that will be your problem too. I hope I could help.

  • Nokia Asha 503 Mass storage Problem

Mass storage isn't works.... Restarting this phone, it works then.....
So, I have to restart this phone Several times?

Remove the memory card and use a card reader to check if it works fine. If not, then you might have to reformat the memory card.
If the above fails, you may need to do a full reset on your phone either by performing a factory reset or by using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool.
    Good luck

  • Nokia N95 - unable to activate mass storage mode

I'm having trouble with my Nokia N95 8Gb and mass storage mode.
WWhen I can eventually activate this mode after shutting down apps (just intellisync and location tracker), it usually lasts no more than 90s before the phone reboots itself.
This makes copying music rather difficult since
    - The music apps on pcsuite/nseries pcsuite are useless and crash on any attempt to sync (Vista x64)
    - Nokia music doesn't see the phone
    - file copy in pcsync is slow
    - USB mass storage mode doesn't work (ie for using iTunes sync)
    I'm on the v20 software.
    Any ideas?
I love my N95 8Gb -- but this is why people but iPhones/iPods... it's just too hard.

Thanks for the hint. However I'd rather not do this just yet. I'd prefer to figure out which app is in error.
So Q: Can one retrieve the cause of a phone crashing/rebooting? Is there a "system dump" ????.........
Point taken, but more often than not it's the O/S itself that is causing a problem, hence the need to perform the reset. And I don't think there is a core dump anywhere that you can examine. Even if there was, would it mean anything to you? You don't know what system variables are where (there won't be any debug symbols) and I'd challenge you to reverse engineer the system stack (if you knew where it was) in order to find the point in execution where the failure occurs.
This is, of course, assuming it is a software problem. If the problem persists after a reset and, optionally, a firmware reinstall, then it could well be a hardware problem that a Nokia Care Point should take a look at.

  • Nokia C5-03 and Mac OSX Lion - Problems copying files to phone in Mass Storage mode

Whenever I try to load more than one file from my iMac (early 2008, OSX Lion 10.7.2) to my new Nokia C5-03 in Mass Storage mode —since the files are MP3s and Multimedia Transfer doesn’t seem to work at all, I keep on getting asked which transfer mode I want to activate for several times, I always choose Mass Storage, and then the first file starts copying, but when it ends with the first one I have to wait for ±30s only to get asked the same again and again until the second file starts copying, and so on.
It’s driving me crazy, I’ve tried setting in the USB connectivity options not to ask me for the mode when I connect the phone, but it doesn’t work either. It still goes very slow and a lot of “USB Mass Storage transfer mode activated” messages appear.
I’ve tested it with a friend’s C5-03 and it’s still the same, but when connecting them to a Windows computer everything goes great and fast. Has somebody had this problem before? Is there a solution to this? I don’t know if this is the correct board to post this, sorry if it’s not.
    Thanks in advance.
PS: Sorry if there are any mistakes or my English sounds weird, i’m Spanish.

    Hi,
Can you try the suggestions below?
-Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel (called Programs
and Features in Microsoft Windows 7).
Select Nokia Ovi Suite in the list of applications and click
    Change/Remove.
In the dialog that appears, choose Repair.
    - Click Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and repair
-Try creating the connection between your phone and computer
totally from scratch. Start by disconnecting your phone. In
Nokia Ovi Suite, select Tools > Options > My devices. Select
your phone at the top of the window and click Remove this
    device.
Then, select Tools > Add new device, and follow the
    instructions to reconnect the phone.
If this doesn't solve the problem,
-Uninstall the following programs withAdd/Remove Programs in
Control Panel (called Programs and Features in Microsoft
    Windows 7):
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Then, download and install the latest version of Nokia Ovi
    I hope this helps.

  • USB Mass Storage device problem

Hello, I cant use my USB mass storage device in my computer, it is a SanDisk ImageMate CF/SM unit, which works perfectly in every other computer I have tried it, but in this one it hangs while accessing the device, and in linux, it hangs while mounting it (the same thing).
I dont know what might the problem be but some other people have seen the same problem, perhaps someone here can help me.

Yeah, I though so, but first I wanted to know what might be causing this incompatibility, in the linux posts people have said that it is a nForce2 generic problem, perhaps a big nvidia bug? heh

  • Usb masse storage  in solaris 10 problem !!

    Hi all
i have srss 3.0 with solaris10-GA, all work well but the usb masse storage
does' nt recognize by srss3.0 are there solution for that problem.
    or patch for srss 3.0.
    thanks team

Congratulations on your choice of Os ;-)
To solve this problem you can try and create a directory called /rmdisk , then start vold running:
    /etc/init.d/volmgt stop
    /etc/init.d/volmgt start
if you are lucky your USB flash will show up under /rmdisk/<name> after a few seconds.
If not you should be able to see the flash with cfgadm, which list the status of USB ports (among other things).
Solaris should automatically create a /dev/dsk/ and /dev/rdsk/ entries for your flash memory, if its not automatically mounted by vold, try and stop vold using
    /etc/init.d/volmgt stop
Then do a cd /dev/dsk and run an ls -lart, the USB devices should be among the last devices in that list, then mount it using:
    mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/<device> /some/directory
the device should end with s2 or p2, some flash devices might also need :c, aka /dev/dsk/<device>:c, it depends how its configured.
See man mount_pcfs for more information...
Hope this helps a bit (:

  • Satellite L670-153: problem with a 4Gb SONY mass storage

I have a satellite L670-153 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. When I conect a 4Gb SONY USB mass storage, Windows mount the USB mass storage. But after some minutes, the USB mass storage is unmount and mount and unmount indefinitely.
I update the bios and the chipset driver but I still have the problem.

    And what now?
Can you test functionality with other 4GB USB stick? Just to see if other brands will be recognized properly. Does the problem persist when you use it on other PC with the same operating system?
I have 2 SanDisk and 1 Toshiba USB stick and all of them are recognized properly on different notebooks?

  • Can I safely change N95 8GB Mass Storage's name?

I have many software installed on my N95 8GB. I have an option to change the Mass Storage's name.
Is it safe to change the name from "Mass Storage" to something else?
    Thanks.

Yes, the name of the mass storage can be changed with no ill effects.
Software always accesses the mass storage by "drive letter", pretty much the same way Windows does. To see this in action, create a playlist containing a few music files that are on your memory card and then open the resulting playlist file in a text editor. You'll see that all the tracks are referred to as E:\whatever_path\music_file.mp3
Interestingly enough, from a technical point of view, the name assigned to the mass storage is in fact a special kind of file called a "volume identifier". By changing the volume name you're merely renaming this special file.

  • Lenovo S60 USB problem - there is MTP and PTP but no USB mass storage

Hello! Recently i updated my OS from kitkat to lollipop 5.0.2. Since then when i connect the phone to PC there is no option to use it as mass storage device.I can use MTP if i enable USB debugging but it recognizes the phone as CD drive and only shows few installation files that came with the phone (lenovo_suite.exe, lenovousbdriver.exe etc). If i use PTP i can only use it to transfer photos from SD card to PC. I've tried using SHAREit app which is good for smaller files but slower than USB when it comes to transfering bigger files.I've already tried different solutions for fixing the problem that i found on the internet but nothing works. I'm starting to think that the drivers are the problem because the lolippop update is relatively new but i don't know. Help please.

    Hi,
    I have a USB-6501.
When I send a True value to the DAQmx write digital VI the signal from the hardware switches off, and when I wire a false value the hardware switches on.
The same happens with an input. Shorting between pin and ground causes the output of the DAQmx read to read false, and with no connection it gives a true value.
A colleague has the same problem with the 6501, but not with his PCI DAQ card.
This is somewhat counterintuitive when programming. Is there a way to reverse this behaviour? (other than just remembering to add in a not gate)
    Simple test VI attached.
well, ive never seen that type of style done that way...are you trying to save room?its probably why you are having trouble....
