  • Satellite U400-10J - Constant notification if I use multimedia buttons

    Hi!
My problem is that whenever I press one of the configurable multimedia buttons above the keyboard (either the one with the speaker icon or media player icon), Windows UAC pops up with a window saying "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"
The program called is Toshiba Button Setting Assignment, path is "C:\Program File\Toshiba\TBS]TBSBtnCfg.exe" /2 (or /1, depending on the button).
On first use said program asked me what I want the buttons to do, now if I answer Yes to the prompt, it performs the function as configured (one button is set to Mute/Unmute, the other to launch Media Player Classic), however, it's extremely annoying having to confirm this every single time.
Is there a way around it? I'd prefer not to disable UAC if possible.
The Toshiba Value Added Package is the latest version available on the Toshiba website for my model (downloaded today), BIOS is latest version, Windows is Windows7 RC build 7100, 32-bit, with all available updates. The laptop model is written in the title.

    Hi costi_1
This is really strange. Im also using Windows 7 but I did never get such a message.
    > Windows is Windows7 RC build 7100
Im a little bit confused about this. Why you are using Windows 7 RC if the final version is already released? Im using the final version of Windows 7 and latest VAP from the Toshiba page and all is working fine.
Can you please test it with final version of Windows 7?

  • GX 620 barebone - SCM - Multimedia button not working correctly.

I just installed Win 7 Pro x64 RTM from msdnaa. Everything works great so far, except for the music multimedia buttons (back, stop, play/pauses, etc.) They only work if I have the music app selected, otherwise it does nothing. Under Vista sp2 this feature worked regardless of whether I selected the music app or not. As it stands the multimedia keys are pretty worthless. Please help

Well, that's their purpose. What else expect to do?

  • Equium A110-276: multimedia buttons do not work with Vista

How to reinstall the software of the multimedia buttons at the right side of the laptop in Windows Vista? becuase when I install windows vista the buttons doesn't work anymore.. multimdia buttons: the WMPlayer, play/pause, stop, next and previous buttons... a nyonw got a software or got the same problem?

    Hello
I have checked Vista download page and your notebook A110 (PSAB2) is not listed there. Usually you need Toshiba controls but with Vista this tool is not available separately. I presume it is a part of Value Added Package.
Have you already installed anything downloaded from Toshiba download page http://pc-support.toshiba-europe.com/vista/ ?

  • DV7-3079WM multimedia buttons above keyboard stopped working

I recently had my laptop checked by Warranty Logistics.  When I got it back, the multimedia buttons and wireless button above the keyboard no longer work.  Since the hardware still works, I assume they disabled some custom HP software some how.  I've searched, but can't find the software.
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.  TIA

    Hi,
Can you let me know if these buttons are still illuminated but just will not change colour ( ie the wireless icon will not change from Amber to Blue )?
Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for a full minute.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook - is there any change?

  • Set audio channel controlled by multimedia buttons

In KDE, is there a way I can set the audio channel that is controlled by the multimedia buttons? I am having a problem where the raise and lower volume buttons are not controlling the correct (PCM) channel.
I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with the Intel AC'97 audio controller. The computer has normal speakers, controlled by the Master channel and a subwoofer controlled by the Master Mono channel. Because of this, in kmix, I leave the two above channels set and use the PCM control to control overall volume, as adjusting the "Master" channel does not affect subwoofer volume. Now, when I use kmix to adjust volume, things are fine, however when I use the multimedia raise/lower volume buttons, only the Master channel gets adjusted. I assume there must be some place where the channel controlled by these buttons can be set, but I cannot find it. I believe I've read that kmilo handles this task, but I cannot find where I might configure that.
I would be willing to do some hacking of the appropriate code, if it is required. Someone would just have to point me to what library/executable contains the code that handles the mentioned multimedia buttons.
    Thanks and regards,
    jbro

Thanks for the suggestion, but that is actually one thing I tried with no luck. I could create a "Soft Master" channel and use it to control overall volume, the same as just selecting PCM as the master channel, but the multimedia keys still directly changed the "Master" channel. Note that I have no problem when changing the volume through kmix. It properly adjusts the PCM channel, which I have set as the master channel. Only when I press the multimedia keys do I have this problem, so it looks like kmilo isn't paying attention to the master channel and automatically adjusting the first channel. Unfortunately, according to the ALSA wiki, there is no way to override an existing channel.
OK, I took a look at the latest code (KDE 4.0) for the delli8k plugin for kmilo and it adjusts "masterVolume" via dcop. When I do the corresponding commands from a prompt everything works fine. This leads me to believe that KDE 3.5.7 doesn't have the code I'm looking at. This is odd, though, as the last change in the Dell kmilo plugin was in September of last year. Perhaps it has not been backported to KDE 3.5.7. When I get some time I will try to compile the new kmilo and plugins to see if that changes anything.
    Thanks again for the suggestion.

    Hello guys
Can you please stop crying here and maybe tell us what is wrong there?
Dear J3... what are you writing about. Which Os do you use? Which drivers? What kind of error?
Multimedia buttons are not controlled by drivers. What things you already tried?
Hay metalbullet, the same questions for you - What order, which OS? Sorry but you didnt offer any relevant information.
Have you tried with VAP as suggested by Akuma?

  • Lenovo V100 Multimedia button

    Hello,
to the left of the mute button (above the insert key) is a multimedia button, which when pressed opens "Windows Media Player".
Is it possible to change the program the button refers to? I'd like to open MusicMatch when that button is pressed.
One suggestion I got (but did not work ) was changing it through "Set Program Access and Defaults".
    Any other suggestions?
    Thank you.

  • N95 8GB buttons not functioning

I've had my Nokia N95 8GB for 2 yeras now, when all of a sudden some of the top media buttons have stopped working, preventing me from accessing messages and contacts which is a complete pain. I have tried taking the phone apart to clean the board and performed a hard reset, but to no avail. Has anyone ever had this problem and have any solutions? Also, would I have lost all my contacts from reseting?
Any help would be appreciated as it's becoming increasingly frustrating not being able to read my  new messages!

The likely cause of problem is the connecting foil cable between phone's main body and the sliding/screen section. It can easily be replaced with new unit which costs about $20. Make sure you purchase a quality unit. I purchased 2 (very cheap) units from China and 1 unit in USA and all did not function properly. Ended up buying it from reputable source, double the cost and it did work. This is your best option, just replace the part.
Other option is to use a Bluetooth keyboard. I used a mini bluetooth keyboard with my N95 and it controls all keys and shortcut funtions, etc. Not sure if you'll be able to configure keyboard at this stage (without use of some buttons).

  • N95 multimedia key stuck?

Hello, I recently purchased a 2nd hand N95 8GB. At first it seemed to work quite finely however after a day or two the multimedia key (that useless key located to the left of directional keys) started playing up by just randomly pressing itself. Most of the time it works normally and then completely at random it will start playing up, entering my music folder and playing songs. I've tried updating to the latest firmware, restoring it to factory setting and erasing everything off of it but to no avail. The key itself isn't physically stuck in any way. I think the phone was originally locked to a network, but it was then unlocked and had Nokia's firmware installed on it. If someone could help get this fixed I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

It's a hardware issue, most likely a failed or damaged (drop/shock/moisture) component.
Take it to a nokia care point for inspection.
