N95 No alarm sound - only screen flashes

N95 Day 1: Workday alarm set - worked fine played the selected tune when the alarm went of and the screen flashed.
N95 Day 2: Workday alarm left unchanged - NO sound! screen still flashed.
Profile was the same - out-of-the-box 'General'
Any ideas why I lost sound?
TIA

  • Y40-80 Volume/Sound and Screen Flashing Problem

Hey guys, I'm having an issue with my new Y40-80. The volume will sometimes noticeably decrease and then randomly go back to normal. I have installed the relevant audio driver from Lenovo as well as completely updated my laptop through Windows Update. I have also done a complete system restore, but to no avail. I also get a hissing noise when using my earphones, which is normal, I got it on my last laptop as well, but the thing is, the hiss also comes and goes. If there are no souds playing, then the hiss is gone, but right before I click something that is going to play a sound, like a song, for example, the hiss comes back, but if I pause the song, the hiss remains for a few seconds before going away and being completely silent again. Perhaps I received a bad audio card? I also have an issue where my screen will sometimes quickly flash pure white or some distorted image of whats being displayed. I have only had this issue while playing this online game called League of Legends. I have also installed both the relavant AMD and Intel VGA drivers from Lenovo and my laptop is completely up to date. Any help is apprecitated. I really like the laptop, but these issues are annoying and are making me wonder if I have received a defective unit. Thanks!

Well, I seem to have found a solution myself. Posting it here in case someone comes across the same issue. Instead of downloading the Realtek audio driver from Lenovo's website, I downloaded the appopriate one from Realtek's website. Here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false I believe the audio driver that comes preinstalled is the same as the one on Lenovo's website and I don't think it's for a Windows 8.1 but is instead an old driver for 64 bit Vista.  Also, for the screen flashing problem that I was encountering while playing League of Legends, I believe I've also found a solution. Instead of downloading the AMD driver from Lenovo's website, I also recommend going straight to AMD's website and downloading the appropriate driver there. I tried using their auto-detect utility but the issue persisted. I went to AMD's website again and this time manually searched for a driver and came across a beta driver and so far so good.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

can anyone help with problem updating iphone5s cant get anything only apple on screen sometimes screen flashes blue

    Hey damien555,
Thanks for the question, I understand how frustrating this may be. It sounds like the update process may have been interrupted, and to resolve the issue, we’ll need to restore your device in recovery mode with iTunes:

  • I need help with Windows 10 Technical Preview. No sound. Korean files. Screen Flashes

I installed Windows 10 Technical Preview Yesterday. Took TEN hours!
Now, I have NO SOUND. There are Korean files on my desktop. My screen flashes from blue to my desktop. It is SLOW.
I had Windows 8 before this. I bought this laptop brand new from a store in January of this year.
Can someone help me either fix the issues or help me get back to Windows 8?

it came with windows 8.1 then, the windows 10 preview is still kinda early in the curve so it may have a few problems with your machine
probably be best to wait till the summer when its ready

  • Intel OS X 10.7 iMac has white screen and three-alarm sound, won't start up

Intel OS X 10.7 iMac has white screen and three-alarm sound, won't start up

The 3 beeps during start-up are telling you that the RAM is bad.
If you can access the RAM modules, you may try taking them out and putting them back in, perhaps it's only bad contacts.
If that doesn't help, you'll need new RAM module(s).

  • Why does my sound only come on sometimes when i get to the log in screen for World of Warcraft?

    Product: HP Pavilion dv9628nr
    Operating system: Vista
Error Message: (i dont know if it is an error message) "No Audio Output Device Installed"
All I did was play the latest content for World of Warcraft (Patch 4.3). I hit the mute button and it turned red. I hit "exit" and "exit now" after i was done playing and it took a long time to exit. After it was back to the very familiar screen with all the icons the sound was gone. The mute button was blue after a restart, then it started saying i didn't have a sound card when i tried looking for it. The next day i turn on my laptop and and the mute button is red when it's starting up. After it was done I unmute it and sound worked fine, but for a while. After that the sound only comes back on a few rare occasions when i get to the login screen of world of warcraft. Then after a while of walking around doing nothing, the sound is gone again, but the mixer is still there (the mixer disappears after i restart). It also doesn't let me successfully uninstall the sound driver. I restart and go to reinstall the driver on the website, but during the download it says that it's already installed and if i want to overwrite, when i hit "yes to all" the lap top beeps LOUDLY, and says the installation failed because it didn't find the device. What's going on?

The boot ROM is static unless Apple issues a firmware update. I just checked and they never released any such updates for the eMac. Without a firmware update available, I know of no way to overwrite the current version.
What did the serial number check show? Don;t post your serial number, just whether it fell within one of those ranges.
The logic board issue was specifically bad capacitors. Look at some of the pic posted here:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/gdegagne/EMacCapacitorReplacement#
Open your RAM door on the case bottom and look inside. The third picture in the web site is the view with that door open. You can see only two of several possible bad caps through the RAM door but, if those two are leaking brown goo like those in the image, I think you will have found your problem.
I just realized you are in Tacoma. That makes the closing of the repair place I mentioned all the more sad, as your shipping costs to Eugene OR would be much less than for an eMac owner living several states away. Heck, you could have driven it to Eugene!
Really, I'm not in the habit of preaching 'gloom and doom' but, in your case, we need to deal with the logic board issue first to be able to provide you with worthwhile help should your computer not have the "bad cap" problem. If bad caps are the problem, there is not much we can offer other than to refer you to Google to search for self-repair instructions, or to Apple Customer Relations (1-800-767-2775) to consult regarding a Repair Extension Program that was apparently shut off too early.

  • My iMac won't boot, get a black screen with alarm sound, then gray screen with start up sound, then repeats

this problem started last fall after upgrading to Mavericks. If I shut down my computer (or restart) I have problems getting it going again. This is getting progressively worse. I hadn't shut down in over a month, forgot about this issue and shut down (which I used to do daily), so now I can't get my computer to boot. When I hit the power button I hear it starting, then a loud alarm sounds, then a long pause then start up sound with a gray screen with a progress bar. Once the progress bar fills, the screen goes black again for a bit. This whole process will repeat until I get frustrated and force - shut down by holding the power button. I have tried reseting the pram, starting up in safe mode, starting up with the command - R, starting up with my original install disc... none of it works. I'm at a loss! I do have an external hard drive that I have been using for Time Machine, but it's not recent because the disc needs repairs and I hadn't gotten around to buying a new HD to back up to first. Has anyone else had this problem? I really can't afford a big repair/replacement bill.

A long, steady, load tone followed by a progress bar can indicate it is trying to install a Firmware Update.  Any other Tones would be multiple beeps and show an error code.

You can also see a progress bar similar to booting into Safe Mode. However, the firmware update bar is thinner vertically than the Safe Mode bar.

Either way, I would say something is wrong and it would be better evaluated at an Apple Store as Kappy points out.

  • This morning when I turned my macbook pro on, an alarm sound came from my computer and a thin, short line of light was flashing next to the pulsing light that did not come on.  The pulser light has not come on at all today.

This morning an alarm sound accompanied by a flashing thin light happened when I turned on my macbook pro.  Now the pulser light is not coming on at all and there is a steady thin light to the left of the pulser that stays on when I close my laptop.  Does anyone know what may have happened?

    >an alarm sound accompanied by a flashing thin light<
That seems like a memory problem.

  • Screen flashes instead of alert sound after 10.4.11 update

After updating to 10.4.11 about 2 weeks ago I noticed that my screen flashes whenever an alert sound should occur. It looks just like the "Flash screen when an alert sound occurs" option found in the Universal Access (Hearing) settings. I toggled the setting found there, but even when it's set to off, my flashing screen alert continues to occur. I know a friend of mine who experienced the exact same problem, but he hasn't found a solution to this (minor, but annoying) problem yet either. I also talked to a "genius" at the local Apple store. He hadn't heard about the problem and couldn't offer a solution either.
Is anybody else experiencing a flashing screen alert? How does one get rid of it? Thanks.

    this solved it for me:
i checked my system alerts and found that the alert sound was set to some invalid legacy sound called AIM - probably left over from when i used AIM instead of iChat.
i set the alert sound back to one of the original Apple sounds and viola! No More Flashing Screen!!!

  • Screen turned black and makes some sort of an alarm sound

Does anyone knows a solutions for this: my intel iMac was on all afternoon till suddenly the screen turns black and it starts making some sort of an alarm sound "tuut tuuut". I tried restarting but nothing changes. I tried restarting from the installation Disc with C-key but no result. As a matter of fact i can't even get the disc out of my iMac anymore. Thanx

That sounds like hardware problems, I suggest you call your local Apple Store to my an appointment for them to check it out for you.

I understand that your desktop computer is not able to display a visual on the monitor screen. Are you able to get a visual on your monitor screen when you first boot into Windows? Does the black screen occur if you boot your system in Safe Mode, and then launch the program? I would be happy to help you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number.

  • Alarm clock - how to make it sound only, no vibration

    Hi,
I hate being woken up by a vibrating iphone : is there a way to have a "sound only" mode for alarm clock?
    Thanks,

Far as I know, you have to flip the side switch so that it doesn't show the orange strip AND turn vibrate off in Preferences/Sounds. That's the only way I've managed to turn off vibrate for the alarm clock. Of course, it's a pain to have to do it all over again when you want to set your phone to silent and still know someone's calling or texting you...

  • Any way to have alarm clock only sound on headphones?

Is there any way to have alarm clock only sound through headphones?

No. Sorry. The only way to accomplish that would be to use a 3rd party app.
