Hi,
You can only use one Apple ID with iTunes match. Purchasing another match subscription using wife's Apple ID is not a solution. I can only suggest that you use your ID for match and all iTunes music purchases.

  • Cannot use Music Store! Cannot download the problematic iTunes 7 either!

Ok. So, now there are instructions to downgrade because of all the problems because of iTunes 7.0. BUT- we cannot use the music store! I have iTunes 6.4 I think nd it will not let me use the store to buy anything. But, I cannot get iTunes 7.0 to install either. I get a choose application prompt when I click the .mpkg file...
What are we/I to do if I want to buy music?!
    TAHNKS SO MUCH!

Please be kind enough to clarify your question: are you using iTunes 6 or 7? Have you ever successfully purchased music from the iTunes Store?
In the meantime, try downloading and installing the combined OS X 10.4.7 updater...the easiest way to do that would be to simply use Software Updater on your Apple menu (under the blue apple).
Also, you shouldn't have any difficulty using iTunes 6 to simply purchase music.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Do I really need to upgrade to 7 to use music store?

I am using an iBook with iTunes 6 and the Music Store seems to require an upgrade to iTunes 7. Is this really necessary? I'm using OS 10.2.8 and am unable to upgrade iTunes. Is there a workaround?

I was locked out too, and hopping mad!
    But here is a workaround:
(after repeated emails to mac tech support they finally divulged the secret):
Just upgrade to itunes 6.5, which works on system 10.2
    (it worked for me)
    iTunes 6.0.5 for Mac
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605formac.html
Try it and see... hope it works for you, too.

  • Can't get the new Search Bar while using Music Store

Just downloaded iTunes 5 last night for Windows XP and everything is OK except the ability to show the new search bar in the Music Store. I am able to use the new bar on all other apps of iTunes 5 (library, purchased music, etc.) except for the music store, and that's where for me it would be the most useful! Anyone else having this issue, or anyone know a fix?

Well OK, except if you watch the Apple Special Event where Steve Jobs unveils among other things the nano and the iTunes 5 enhancements, around 16:00 into it, he demos iTunes where he uses the new search bar in the Music Store. So what gives? More pixar special effects or what?

  • Persistant problem with iTunes music store

For a while now I have been unable to purchase songs from itunes. When clicking on "Music store" the front page of the store loads, but then within 5 seconds "Accessing music store" starts scrolling across the top of the screen, and this never changes. Clicking on any song titles or doing a search for music does not seem to do anything. Additionally my computer has become deauthorised. When I try and authorise my music again it has the same issues connecting and thus, I cannot listen to any of my already purchased music. I have tried accessing the service with all firewalls disabled but to no avail, and I am at a total loss on what to do.
    Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the reply. I no longer have any download or web accelerators on my computer, and in response to your message I searched my computer for any remnants of these, only finding a few old files. I have now deleted these, but still the problem is present

  • For those experiencing problems connecting to the Music Stor

I sent the following comments through feedback to Apple:
Since upgrading to iTunes 6 I've lost the ability to connect to the Music Store. I can browse, but I can't buy anything. I get an error message (-9813). I went to discussions to see if I was the only one having this problem, but I see that many people are experienging it.
I went to iTunes support, and followed the troubleshooting steps stated there:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/connect/
    but it didn't work.
I then noticed that not only I wasn't able to connect to ITMS, but the same problem occurred when I tried syncing my computer with my iDisk (Through system preferences), and also when I tried to connect to home page through iPhoto, or when I try to backup to my iDisk (using Backup 3).
I first thought, as many in these discussions, that there is a problem with the Music Store, but I think the problem seems to be .mac related. And more precisely, with port 443, which is the port used for SSL and HTTPS connections.
Speaking of HTTPS, let me tell you that when I try to connect to a HTTPS site, like the Apple store, for example, I get a message stating that Safari doesn't recognize Apple's own certificate to grant access to that page.
I also thought the problem could be with my ISP, but I've been working with it for a long time now and never experienced a problem with it. Everything started happening after upgrading to iTunes 6.
I have no idea how to correct this problem, I believe I'm not the only one.

    Try this

for the bar constantly loading, when that happens I click on the button to sign in (looks like an email address).

  • N5800 XpressMusic, Music store problem

    Hello,
I have a problem with phone music store applications. After i start music store i can't login or go to main page because when i press those buttons i get error "Music store: Unable to perform operation"  Tried to do hard reset and update firmware again with no help. FW: 40.0.005.
I think this problem came with this new V40 firmware or shortly after that when i lost email notification from shortcut homescreen.
Is there anything what i can do to repair music store?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you are convinced that it's not a network problem, then you could try a factory reset, its like the 7370 reset only a little more agressive, it will wipe everything, other than the firmware.
I believe its power off, hold down RED, Green and Camera Buttons whilst powering up to the hands logo.
Be warned though... this will put your phone to the state it would have been had it been a brand new one.

  • HELP NEEDED.  Cannot connect to Music Store.

After upgrading to iTunes 6 I have been unable to connect to the Music Store or download any tracks. Its not my Norton Internet Security and my Windows Firewall is off. In fact, nothing has changed on my PC apart from upgrading iTunes, at which point everything went wrong!!
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing numerous times, restoring my PC to an earlier time when all was well and I've also tried installing standalone Quicktime from the Apple website, but every time I get an error message saying that some of the files are corrupt and to install it again, which I do, then I get the same message.
In desperation I managed to re-install my previous version of iTunes 5 (with which I had absolutely no problems at all) but unfortunately I still can't connect to the Music Store or download any tracks, so basically there is no point in me using the iPod or iTunes at all.
If anyone knows how I can solve this problem I'd be really grateful for some input.
    Thanks.

I'm getting the same error message when i connect my linksys router. With the router connected I can get on the internet just fine. Thw problem is that music store in iTunes is refused. I can access the music store if i connect the modem directly to my PC. This leads me to believe the internal firewall in the router needs to be configured to allow iTunes to connect to the music store. If any one knows how to do this that would be great. I think it would also help a lot of other people having this as well   Windows XP   </span<br>

  • Itunes WONT load the itunes music store!

i havent had this problem before. its pretty recent that it has occured. whenever i go to click itunes music store the loading bar appears like normal and it just keeps loading. i could let it sit there for hours and nothing would happen... it doesnt say CANNOT CONNECT.
-I have downloaded the most recent version of itunes so i know that isnt the problem
    Please help
    ~Mike

I am subscribed to a similar thread and thought I would confirm the information on that one.
I too have never had a problem with the music store and then, all of a sudden, couldn't connect. I was getting an error message saying iTunes could not connect and I should check my browser. Did that and still nada so I posted on here (not having been able to negotiate the Apple website sufficiently to obtain an e-mail address!)
It appears that Windows recently put out a load of security updates and this may well be the reason that anyone using iTunes on Windows may not be able to connect. The security patch they have released apparently stops iTunes connecting to the internet and hence no downloads!
Apparently the Apple bods have said that this is a Windows patch and thus a Windows issue and should be fixed by Microsoft and they don't intend to do anything about it!
However, I reckon that as soon as someone notices that the revenue from sales has dropped significantly, someone will fix it. In the meantime though, it appears no solution on the horizon!

  • Error -208 : There was an error in the music store

This is truly getting old. I made the jump from 5.0.1 (which had sound problems) to 6 last night. I can play my music I imported from CD just fine (skips every now and then). But, when I try to play any of the music I paid handsomely for through iTunes, I first got other errors. Now, this morning, it's Error -208: There was an error in the music store.
    What is the problem here?
Is the problem with the music store or with iTunes 6?
When can a truly working fix be expected?
Whatever happened to Apple's QA? Every upgrade of iTunes since 4.7 causes more and more problems. I'm embarassed because I recommended a friend buy the new iPod two weeks ago. He's probably cussing me out left and right at the moment. And, these problems aren't just relegated to us Window's folk - the Mac folks are having their share of problem as well.
I am running on Windows 2000 SP 4 on an ASUS motherboard with 1GB RAM. I meet the minimum recommended requirements.
When can I expect the situation to be remedied?

Ok. I read just about everything on in this discussion group and Apple notes.
I then declared all out war on this this evening. I won.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Assumption - you have Norton AV or Norton System Works installed. I suppose it will work if you have NIS installed.
    2. Removed ALL my anti-spyware programs (i.e. Spybot 1.3 and Microsoft's Anti-Spyware).
    3. Rebooted.
    4. Opened up Norton AV settings in Norton System Works and selected Internet Worm Protection.
    5. Under Applications - Added iTunes and iTunes Helper. Set operation to PERMIT ALL.
    6. Under "General Rules", I added a new rule named "iTunes".
    7. Under the "Communications Tab", I added a rule to allow UDP traffic to both local and remote ports 5353.
    8. Rebooted.
    9. This time, when the system started, I got a message indicating that "application iTunes is trying to access the internet." Clicked on "Remember and allowed the operation.
At this point, things started working.
The removal of the Anti-spyware programs MAY or MAY NOT be necessary. I will add them back in to see if they make any difference or not.
Now - Apple, my suggestion to you is to PUBLISH the ports and protocols and network targets. I was only able to gleam the ports used because Sygate indicated that iTunes was using UDP port 5353 to communicate.
Anyway, for those of you with this problem and are running ANY of the programs mentioned here, try my recommended course of action.
    Charles
P.S. Now, I need to figure out what causes the occassional skip/stutter. But, my iTunes is working.

  • Can't connect to music store after updating itunes; ?connection refused?

Can someone from itunes please help. i mean ****. i guess u guys don't think of the people in ur forums that have problems. i have a problem accessing the music store. it says the network connection was refused. please check ur settings...blah blah blah. anyway the point is there are tons of people with this problem, no solutions, end of story. and lots of people have been having this problem right after updating their itunes. WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? just tell us how to fix our music store. then maybe people would actually still use itunes instead of limewire.

The iTunes Music Store uses both HTTP Port 80 and 443. Make sure both are open in any firewall, and also make sure that the following domains are exempted in any firewall/filtering software:
    phobos.apple.com
    phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
You might want to completely shut down any firewall temporarily, just to see if that makes a difference. If you can then connect, you know it's a problem with your firewall.
Another possibility is an erroneous entry in the Hosts file. This tip from Mark Holly resolved problem for another poster (please note that I have not tried this fix so I cannot vouch for nor support the suggestion: I provide it only as a suggestion that worked for someone else):
NOTE: this will change a Windows operating system file. This could cause you problems if not done correctly.
Using Windows Explorer navigate to the following folder:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
In this folder is file called 'hosts'. Open it using Wordpad.
On the poster's pc there was in this file one long line. At the end of this line was "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com:. phobos.apple.com is the web address for the music store. What "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com" is doing is telling the pc to look for the web address only on the computer rather than the internet. By remove this section of the line and saving the changes you may then be able to access the music store without any problems.
IMPORTANT: Before making the changes to the hosts file I highly recommend making a backup of it. That way you can restore the original if other problems occur.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help - I can't connect to the Music Store anymore

Today I have had the message "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was reset." This was after it tried for a few minutes. Everything else - playlists, accessing Gracenote CDDB for CDs, playing my songs - seems to be working fine. (It's iTunes 6.0.4).
It's seems to be suggesting I have an internet connection problem, but I don't! Safari, Mail, limewire, they're all working fine.
It all happened after I pressed the 'See All' arrow next to the 'Just For You' selection on the front page (which I've never tried before). Earlier today I had a problem with one CD which wouldn't read one track properly which meant I had to 'force quit' iTunes, but I was able to access the Music Store when I relaunched, or at least the front page anyway.
Since then I have repaired permissions, restarted, but the problem is still there. I have tried other user accounts and the problem is in all accounts. I have had a look in /Library for Preferences or Application Support folders at the System level that might be the problem, but there aren't any. What do I do now - reinstall iTunes 6 (if I still have the DVD)? What happens to all my playlists and songs and purchases and previews etc if I do that?

Ok, this is an update and then I'm going off to bed, so if anyone has any bright ideas I will see them first thing.
I now wonder if limewire may be the problem, even though it is 'listening' currently on port 33782 which is nowhere near to iTunes or anything else for OS X. Why? Because up until today, I could only connect to limewire during the daytime - evenings and weekends it wouldn't connect and discussion forums suggest that tiscali (my ISP) is one of the worst offenders for blocking UDP traffic at peak times and may be specifically targeting limewire. Today, when I have had the problem with iTunes Music Store, I have been able to connect to limewire all day and all evening, no problems.
However the problem with this theory is that when I could connect previously to limewire only during the day, I could still connect to the Music Store as well at the same time. So it may be irrelevant.
I have checked everything else from the article - the discussion boards, keychain access, firewall, it all checks out. So if anyone has any ideas about this, I'd be very happy.
