N95 problems

Hi folks,
I bought my N95 in july and almost immediately it hung itself so I went to the 3 store and they swapped it instantly. Happily I came home and did a reverse backup to get all settings back. Ooops !! Same kind of problems accured. The problems is,still, it hangs when I am trying to call people from the link in the message recieved. It also hangs itself when I am answering SMS. All problems disappears when I am restarting the phone. So the bugs are still there.
I have upggraded the software to latest version with no help so now I am waiting for next one.I have the 12.0.0.13 version. Still I find my problems rather small compared with the fabulous telephone.
But what really **bleep** me off is the battery capacity.
It doesn´t last a day in the city so I have to use 2 batteries during a normal day with only a few calls and 60 minutes of listening to the radio. And I have 2 Nokia original batteries. What is this ?
I payed 800 Euros for the phone !!
Does someone know if there is any kind of improvement in this area ? Better batteries or something ?

Hi tomstar
Latest v20 software uses battery source more efficiently, but that is of no consolation to you unfortunately.

  • N95 problem with ''Help'' application

    Dear all,
I've update recently my N95 with new software release 20.0.015, but the problem with help application is not resolved...The problem is the following: when I try to open HELP I receive the error message MEMORY FULL, but my free RAM is 23/24 MB and the free memory on the device is 112 MB. Can you help me to resolve this problem?
    Thanks

I have the same problem - no in any applications or using the Help application itself.
Of possible interest ?>: is a 'help folder' I have with a name displayed in the Help application as 4x boxes.
    Using: -Menu -Tools -Utilities -Help
...I have an odd looking file listed at the end (after 'ZipManager' & before '3-D ringing tones'). The name is displaying as 4 x boxes - presumably non display characters ?>
Is this folder on all N95s ? (i.e even those with a working Help) ?
Anyone know how/where to locate this folder ?
    HammY

  • N95 problem with phone memory and backup.

My phone is saying that I have 1870 MB of messages on the phone memory (which can't be true), and it is refusing to back up on the memory card, which I guess is because of this problem as it thinks there's not enough space on the card.
Anyone know what could cause this problem?
    Thanks for your help.
    T-mobile please give us v.20 N95 software.

Hmm, well I'm stumped. If it's within warranty perhaps contact the supplier and accept they'll probably lose your data. I can't be any more helpful I'm afraid, especially as I'm a user and not an actual Nokia technician.
All I can suggest given the extra info you've provided, is to buy a card that can hold the imaginery 1870MB's and change the message storage settings? Alternatively look at the phone via PC suite which makes some files and folders visible on the phone memory (called 'C' drive). Prod around there may be, with research you may find the file that collects that info, delete it and the phone 'may' replace it with the corect values?
I'd be interested to know of the real solution.

  • N95 Problem

Hello people, i have encountered recently a problem with my N95, like 1 month ago suddenly the "menu" button stopped working...i thought the button itself had a problem...so i kept pressing it over and over and after few hours i could hear the button beeping...(making the sound as like it was being pressed) only that i wasnt holding any finger on it....and after beeping like this for like 2-3 mins...it started working... Now again the same problem appeared but now im pressing like mad the "menu" button and nothing happens.
I updated the software cos maybe i thought it was a software problem and nothing happend and now with this software i see something else...when i slide down the screen so the image appears in horizontal position... it doesnt appear anymore the "application" menu" it just moves the desktop horizontally and thats all.... ANY TIPS BEFORE i throw the phone out of the window and buy a nokia 1100????

    Hi silvergreyfox
Firstly you need to exclude any software corruption problems. Provided that you backup any essential data you can carry out a "hard reset" to return phone to out of the box condition. Details are available for this procedure in paragraph 45 of FAQ to Nokia Software Updater here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4577229
If fault still there then a visit to Nokia Care Centre for a repair under warranty is indicated.

  • N95 Problem Connecting to PC

I plugged my N95 into the computer via USB lead, and i go to data transfer, then a sign appears on my phone saying 'USB data transfer mode activacted.Memory card not acessible from phone during this time.'If i do get on to music manager a sign also appears telling me,'phone not connected'Could somebody please tell me how to sort this problem out? Thanks.

gaynor if you want to use Nokia PC Suite and the Music Manager part of it, you need to have
    Nokia PC Suite
    PC Connectivity SOlution
    Nokia Connectivity Cable driver installed
check that you have fromcontrol panel -add/remove programs.
When you connect cable and choose pc suite mode from phone, check from device manager in pc (right click my computer - manage - device manager)
IFyou see devices with yellow ? mark, right click that and select uninstall.
Then go to programs list and run a change - repair to pc suite and connectivity solution.
    Boot PC
and now connect cable again and wait until cable drivers are automatically installed, then you should be connected

No they are not free.... Even though a window comes up saying that you have already purchased this App and ask if you want to download it again "free", you're billed again. At least I am.... I have had to restore from scratch (backups (3) supposedly corrupted) and have received iTunes Invoices showing that I was "billed" with amount to prove it for the downloads of already purchased Apps.... I have requested refunds from Apple and all inquiries have remained unanswered.

  • Please help with Nokia N95 problem.

If anyone can help with this I’d be much appreciated, I have a N95 on contract with T-Mobile. When I try to play videos from myspace, or you tube etc… I get a message telling me the following.
“Hello, Either you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of macromedia's flash player click here to get the latest flash player”.
I then get the option of clicking on a link within the previous sentence statement that directs me to acrobat downloads home page where I get the following message.
“We are unable to locate a web player that matches your platform and browser. Please visit our table of recommended web players”
This is deeply frustrating as in nearly every other way I feel the phone is perfect. If Any one can hep me fix this problem I’d be much appreciated.

    daperk,
You should post this to board "Smartphones, Nseries and Eseries Devices".

  • Black Line in LCD Display - N95 Problem

I'm using a nokia N95 Finland Made Phone.
Yesterday i noticed a small black line in the display. Then after few hours the length of the black line was increased. Still its increasing but in a very slow manner, intially i thort it was a virus i used kaspersky to scan but no virus found, then did hard reset, no good
Please Help me to fix this problem
    Thnxx in advance.

The alternative is to leave the screen as it is, with the black line.
This is a hardware failure. You can't fix it by pressing a few keys.

  • My first N95 problem...

...And what a problem. Earlier today my N95 beeped a couple of times and then froze. It wouldn't let me access any features or make and receive calls. It also wouldn't let me switch it off so I removed the battery and sim, I then put them back and started the phone. Now the phone beeps, the screen comes up with NOKIA as per usual but that is it. If I press buttons I still get keypad tones but nothing on the screen apart from NOKIA and when I remove the battery, the word NOKIA remains on the screen as a sort of shadow for a while. Any ideas anybody? other than hit it with a big hammer. Cheers.

    Hi thebeetleboy,
I've had the same problem with version 1.0 and lately with version 1.1. For some strange reason the Nokia appears on the screen even though, the phone has been turned off (there is also some lines up on top of the screen that remain along with the nokia logo which appears closer to the dialpad)...
The other issue I am having with this phone is that whenever you place a call to an office or a house, the call log displays all calls as dialing a cell phone. In other words, if you call a friend at his cell and at home, you cannot determine where you called first, as the 2 calls appear identical on the call log (both with a cell phone logo)... On any other phone, I have always been able to determine whether the phone number I called was the person's cell, home or office number...
Lets hope they release a new software update soon to resolve these problems...
    Cheers,
    JulianV

I'm in exactly the same situation as daperk... Love the phone BUTthe selling point for me was the internet access so when i began surfing found that most me the sites i went to i couldn't see the content and also would sometimes recieved a message saying i didn't have enough memory now considering i have a 2 gig card in it this didn't seem right i looked for any settings to allocate more space to internet browser but can't find anything... Regarding the utube program on the phone why supply it if it doesn't work?? I have the same problem i can see them in the menu but when i select one it doesn't play... I'm new here and only came here looking for a solution to the flash player issue but now i'm here i noticed posts refering to handsets crashing this i have to mention is another problem i have encountered... I'm doing something and the phone just freezes up leaving the only thing i can do is turn the power off and on to reset it... As i said at the start love the phone... But just wish it did what it said on the tin...

  • N95 problem after problem after problem

I decided to get the N95 last december as a little xmas treat for myself little did i know that this phone has been the baine of my life ever since then its broke once already, apperantly i broke the solder points on the board, surley if there weak then there not fit for purpose, i took this up with my provider in the end i paid to get this repaired only for it to go again, i've not bothered getting it done since then, then to put the cherry on the top of my love affair with this phone it kept powering down and then staying off, i bought a new battery, a new charger but it never stopped it then it switched itself off and wouldnt switch on i took it to my local care centre to be told it has to be sent off but you'll get it repaired for free or a replacement as it happens all the time with these i waited for two weeks, called today and was procedded to be told that nokia will not repair it under warranty as its something to do with the board being warped and fualty and thats my fault.Plus the fact i have to pay £20 to get my phone back how crazy :-(
After choosing the N95 i wished i had not and i can say that i shall never get another nokia in my life ever, I've spent three hours on line triyng to find contact details and email address of customer care and complaint people but all i find is a generic contact us email form.
I hold no hope for this situation to be sorted and have the possiblity now of a lengthly and costly legal battle over a N95 repair, which i believe should of been done as i believe all parties concerned have broken the
The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002
    anyway enough of my rant.

Regardless of the outcome of this mess I hope you do understand that what you've had is just bad luck and possibly bad faith on the part of your network operator. There are many, many satisfied users of N95 handsets − I think they're about the most popular handset in the UK now − because it really is an amazing piece of kit.
Don't let this experience dampen your enthusiasm for the brand as a whole. You could have had equally bad luck with any brand. I still think that Nokia handsets are easiest to use, feature-packed and very well-built on the whole (except when circuit boards are warped...)
Also bear in mind that most people posting to forums like this one are, like you, people who have had problems, so don't let the fact that there are very few positive postings extolling the virtues of Nokia phones lead you to believe that nobody likes them!

  • SIP configuration on N95 problem

    Hi,
I'm trying to set a SIP profile on my N95 using Nokia native SIP. My goal is to run a VoIP service named Spikko.
I followed the Skippo instruction sheet (to be enclosed below), but fail to establish a connection.
I checked and rechecked the SIP parameters and found a difference between my inputted paramters and the ones which my N95 uses. Whenever I define an address, in my case SIP.SPIKKO.COM, the parameter shown is SIPIP.SPIKKO.COM (SIP: added).
Can this explain my failure? If so, how do I solve this problem? If that's a harmless change, what can explain and solve my problem?
    Here's the configuration instruction sheet:
Connecting to Spikko using Nokia SIP:
Nokia N95, E71, E61, and several other models include a Nokia “Native SIP” application. The configuration differs slightly between models. The following is the N95 configuration:
    • Go to “Menu » Tools » Settings » Connection » SIP settings » Options » New SIP profile and use the following settings:
    --Profile name: Spikko
    --Service profile: IETF
--Default Access Point: Choose “WiFi” or “3G internet access point”  -  לא קיים
--Public username [email protected] (for instance: [email protected])
    --Use compression: No

    --Password: your Spikko password
    --Allow loose routing: yes
    --Transport type: Automatic
    --Port: 5090
--Registration server: Same as proxy server
    • Now, go to “Menu » Tools » Settings » Connection » Internet-Tel” and choose the Spikko profile. Your Nokia now is ready to make and receive calls.

  • N95, problems installing a back-up

I have a 2 year-old N95, works just fine so I have no reason to get a new phone.  I ran a software update as per instructions.  This included backing-up my phone using the Nokia PC Suite.  When I had completed the software update, my phone had reset itself and had been wiped of all of my settings and data, including all my contacts and messages.  I was expecting that - the website said that may happen and that's why it was important to back everything up first.
When I came to restore everything, I ran into problems.  It won't load past 60%.  I've tried half a dozen times, the last time I left it for over an hour, and it just sat there at 60%, nothing moving.
    Any advice?

Did you allow sufficient time for photos to restore in the background?
A restore from iCloud can take a few hours depending on the amount of data and speed of your internet
