N95 Profiles and custom ringtones

I have an N95 and have various custom ringtones assigned to friends/family. However, when I switch this to the "Meeting" profile instead of "General", the custom ringtones still work when I receive a call. I thought that the profile setting would override this? This is quite bad when i'm actually in a meeting so is there a way around it, apart from setting the phone to "Silent"?

Ok! I have the exact same problem with 1.1.3 that i never had with 1.1.2. when i create a new ringtone it's showing as being on my iphone when its plugged into iTunes but it's not showing when i go into custom on my phone.
Why is it doing this??? and what is garage band??

Custom Ringtones

I'm having an issue with my custom ringtones assigned to my contacts. The custom ringtone does not work when the contact that I have assigned the custom ringtone calls. I get the general ringtone that I use for all other calls. I have tried deleting the contact and reentering it and assigning the custom ringtone again but still nothing. I have even tried pulling the battery out after entering in the contact and custom ringtone but still nothing. I don't have caller ID from my wireless carrier, Rogers, but I was told I don't need it to make the custom ringtones work. I even called Rogers but they were no help. Can someone pleas give me some advice on how to fix this issue?

You may have an issue with your Sounds/Profiles database. Try clearing it and setting up all notifications again manually then testing the custom ringtones again. http://bbry.lv/lsuQXK

Ringtone and custom notification

I tried to select the ringtone and custom notification, but in spite of some contacts have not selected any sound, vibration, led, my q10 does not follow the rules set for the sisngolo contact but follows those of the profile.

I discovered this ... custom settings regarding ringtones and alerts are only if the selected profile is the standard one. If you put your listing in vibration such as that is jumping around .... so if I select a contact for all alerts off, putting into vibration .... "wins" the profile ... and goodbye to customize notifications of contact .... nice ... after spending 700 euro ... blackberry no exceptions ... unfortunately

Sorry for your wait. Okay so let's try re-connecting with iTunes on your computer and syncing your device. This may give you all your stuff back. Sync in Music tab.

I've spent an hour plus googling this and none of the 'fixes' works. My custom ringtones show up fine in itunes but are grayed out in iphone when I try to sync. This just happened when I synced my phone: previously worked fine.

I've spent an hour on this: massively frustrating. My custom ringtones disappeared from iphone when I just sync'd and now show up in itunes/iphone interface (on the mac) grayed out: won't sync to phone. I know the audio files work because they were fine two hours ago! (iphone 5 running 8.1.3)

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!

I am a Windows user. This Sync process is VERY confusing.

How can I possibly get these two new ringtones onto the iPhone without wiping out everything else on the phone? This Sync process is nuts.

Yes, the file extension is M4R. Does it matter where I save these files on my Macbook? I then opened them in Itunes and played them. I did find the Tones folder in Itunes but the Tones or Ringtones tab does not show up when I select Iphone (within Itunes). When I open the Tones folder in the Library, it is empty. Getting frustrated trying to find a solution to this problem. Updated my iPhone 3Gs and now my PURCHASED custom ringtones are not available. They are listed as music files in my library but no custom ringtones are listed on my iPhone.

Your Uncle purchased a hacked iPhone from America, as there are NO officially unlocked iPhones sold in the US...none. Further, no US iPhone can be officially unlocked to work with any other carrier's sim. Updating software or restoring a hacked iPhone will re-lock the phone to the carrier it was originally locked to. That is what has happened to your phone. In your case, that would be AT&T. There is no official solution to your problem. You'll have to use Google, as discussion of how to hack an iPhone cannot be discussed here. Good luck.

IPhoto, Colorsync and Custom Printer and display profiles

I am attempting to understand the way that iPhoto 6 handles/uses custom ICC profiles that have been set in System Prefs>Monitors>Color, and in Utilities>ColorSync Utility>Devices>Printers.
In short, my monitor and printer have both been custom profiled, (Using System Preferences>Monitors>Color, I've set my custom monitor profile. Using the ColorSync utility I have selected my custom ICC profile for my printer). My camera is using SRGB. iPhoto is set to 'Add ColorSync profile'.
Page setup is set for the proper printer and paper size.
Using the Advanced Print Setup I have selected the appropriate paper type, turned off printer color correction, and activated ColorSync color correction.
I'm not certain that iPhoto and ColorSync are actually talking to each-other.
I come from a Photoshop background, where it is possible to set the printer profile at output, using 'Print with Preview'. This setup is intended for my parents though, so Photoshop is not an option.

This presents 2 questions, a) how to utilize the new custom printer profile in iPhoto (use color sync utility? by declaring the profile in the 'Current Profile' section for the device) and b) does iPhoto pay attention to the Current Profile selected profiles when printing?
Basically I'm looking for info regarding the behavior of iPhoto with regards to ColorSync. The lack of documented info is the problem.
I was told today when on the phone with Apple, that iPhoto pays attention to the default profile and not the Current Profile selection, but the rep didn't sound sure, so I'm not too confident in his response.
Also, it doesn't make sense to me that ColorSync Utility would allow you to select a profile and that iPhoto would then subsequently ignore it.
My folks are importing camera images that are tagged as sRGB, iPhoto is set to apply the profile per the advanced prefs, their monitor is profiled and the profile is activated.
iPhoto has plenty of documentation regarding the tagging of images with color profiles, and the display of these profiles with regard to Apple monitors (by using CameraRGB etc) but not a heck of a lot devoted to getting good prints at home through the use of ColorSync, and custom profiles.
ColorSync was designed for just this type of thing, and when you print, it's available as a color correction option in the Color Settings section of the print dialog box, but there's nothing written regarding using it effectively and properly.
Getting color accurate prints is not a 'Pro' feature, it's something that the Mac is supposed to embrace out of the box thru the use of ColorSync...that's the whole point of ColorSync a system wide color management workflow regardless of the 'Pro-ness' of the app or so I thought.
Every rep (AppleStore, Genius Bar, Creatives, AppleCare, iPhoto Software support) try to pass this of as a pro feature, and it is not– is something that ColorSync is supposed to be doing for the whole system, not just Aperture or Photoshop

what is the best way to customize a profile and copy that to the default?
What I have been doing is
login as an admin, customize the desktop, settings, themes, etc... then log out
login as another admin user, delete the Default user profile under c:\Users\Default
rename the Admin folder to Default
Go under the Default and remove the User.dat file

information is properly removed from the profile and to ensure that new user accounts created from the default user profile are properly directed to their own, unique resources. Your error with new user profiles being directed to the Administrator profile’s
resources is a perfect example of this.
Once you have created a default user profile through this method and the profile has been cleaned of profile specific elements, that default user profile can be copied and moved to other locations
for use as a default user profile. For example, it can be used as a network default user profile, or a mandatory profile.

The ringtone file format is m4r. You can create ringtone from any of your music file in your iTunes Music library.
Follow steps as follow:
1. Right mouse click the song in music library you want to create ringtone and choose “Get Info”
2. Choose “Option” Tab, Check “Start Time” n Stop Time” of the track you want to make into ringtone and put in your start time and end time (Max 40 secs duration), then click OK
3. Right mouse click the music file again and choose “Create AAC Version”
4. You will see a copy of song with same name appeared but with 40sec duration only. Now drag the song onto your desktop and you will see the name is now xxxxxx.m4a.
5. Change the file extension m4a into m4r from the desktop
6. Delete the 40sec m4a file from the music library (You must do this step or Itune will not accept your new m4r file).
7. *Important - Now uncheck the start n stop time of the original song so that you can play back full length.
8. Now, drag the m4r file from desktop to Library
9. Click onto the Tones under Library, and you find you ringone file.
Note: Just in case you cannot "Create AAC version" from Step 3, go to top menu, click "Edit", "Preference". Under "general" Tab, click "Import Settings", make sure under Import Using that "AAC Encoder" is selected.
Once you have ringtones in Tones library, you can sync ringtones over by connecting your phone to PC, select iPhone under Devices on iTunes left Pane, then go to 'Tones' tab and check SYNC TONES as well as the ringtones. Click the SYNC button on the lower right window.

Syncing Custom ringtone and Itunes Match.

So - tried all the above and ringtone shows up Grey in the pone tones folder but when I check the SYNC select tones box and try to sync I get an errro telling me my phone is set to sync with a different library...help please.

From a different post, I tried this. I set my phone to the sounds page (selected the ringtone at the top), and watched as it went through the sync. At one point in the sync it would bring the sound page back up and my custom ringtones would be there. Then, it would go back to sync, and they'd be gone. I've now been disconnecting the cord when I see the ringtones come up, and they've stayed every time, including keeping their link to their contacts.
This is frustrating, because I even lost my purchased ringtones. When they were the only ones I'd try to sync, it still wouldn't work without unplugging after the first sync screen went away on the iphone.

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

I recently got a new computer and now can't transfer new songs from my library to my iphone. are not listed in my library so I'm afraid that if I sync with the new library I will lose all of my custom ringtones.

My custom ringtones don't show up in my iTunes library (only on my iPhone library) so I'm afraid that if I sync to the new computer I'll lose my tones. I've tried backing up on my computer, but then I can't find that information to bring into iTunes. I've tried backing up to the Cloud, but it requires me purchasing more space (which I don't want to do). I've already turned off most of my apps, but I'm still over the limit.

I do not have a custom ringtone folder in my iphone 5. I have gone to settings ringtones and there is no folder. In iTunes I have created the file and changed to M4r. The song is less than 20 seconds. I have synced my iPhone with iTunes but no folder.

How do I make a folder in my Iphone 5 for custom ringtones?
I have made it a m4r file that is less than 30 sec. Synced phone with the latest version of iTunes. They show up in itunes as custom ringtones but there is no folder on my iPhone 5. Thanks!!!
