N95 Skype Hype: Fring Vs iSkoot..
I've been searching google for a SKYPE APP for NOKIA N95.
so far I have found FRING with one good review, and another
called Iskoot. The Fring website offers Fring for free!,
you have to provide your number and they instantly send you a
text with a hyper-text link to download. Connect via wireless
to save money Plus Fring is Skype approved
It works with SKYPE and IM and others in developement.
I havnt been spammed on my number either.
As for ISkoot I havn't checked it out yet,
any reviews of iSkoot or Fring would be apreciated.
N95-1 (8GB-MicroSD),LCG-Audio,Fring,Nimbuzz,Skype,Youtube,iPlayer,Garmin4-GPS.Googlemaps,SkyFire,ZoneTag,Gravity, Sennheiser CX-400-IIs,500-IIs,TR-120 Wireless,HD215'S.AudioTechnica ATX-M50's.BT B-Tube BT Speaker.

Fring all the way. Although i've had a few crashes due to the application. the ease of use, auto refresh & ability to run my MSN & Skype contacts simultaneously is great.
I've done a couple of voip calls via Skype contacts and its very quiet. And the only other niggle I have is the annoying "trill" sound when i get a reply!
Think if I got a good explorer app I could use a different sound file and rename it.

  • Nokia n95 skype ringing volume

i'm using nokia n95. I installed fring and skype. Could anyone tell me how to turn down the ringer volume of fring and skype. It's too loud  and i can't find anywhere to control  the volume.

Is the setting for 3D Ringtones set to 'Off'?

  • If the DroidX had a front camera how easy would it be to video call with Skype or Fringe?

Apparently EVO with Sprint you can video conference with Fringe but is this something that has to been done through WIFI?  I was ready to upgrade to the DroidX but I am wondering if I should hold off for the front camera.  I love using Skype video and it would be amazing to have this feature on the phone if it is an easy thing to do.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone is knowledgable about this information.
    Thank you!

Since that is a hypothetical situation (Droid X front camera), there is no real way to even guess how the carrier or manufacture would implement this feature because if you look at how other devices use this feature you notice that they are not implementing this feature the same way.  Also in regards to the EVO video calls is across the 4G network but from what I have read they have been experiencing a lot of connection issues do to the network being over whelmed (which isnt a surprise)...

Hy I bought a new iphone 3gs instead another nokia. I was thinking was better but with my disappoint i found that it's not possible to be always online in skype, fring or similar.
I can't believe apple didn't think about that. There is a way or official application can solve the problem?

Correct - third party Apps cannot be on in the background. It can be always on - just leave it as the only thing running.
I can't believe apple didn't think about that.
They did and its clearly spelled out in the literature that it is not a multitasking device.
There is a way or official application can solve the problem?
Nope - not at all. No multitasking. One application at a time only.

There is no problem, its just that you didnt read before buying. The iPhone does not multitask and thats all there is to say.

  • SKYPE via FRING works 100% on E61i

Pending you have a SIM free (unlocked) E61i (or at least your service provider hasn't blocked VoIP connections as Orange do with the new Blackberry 8320), then this maybe of interest:
Fring, giving you Skype/messenger and others works 100% on the new E61i.
This will allow you to use your E61i for free VoIP calls/texts using Skype via WiFi.
Just go to here: http://www.fring.com/download/ enter the make, model your number & country, wait until you get a text, open, then connect to either 3G or WiFi, install the files (say yes to everything), enter your Skype user name and then password and enjoy Skype on your Nokia. I said no to auto start up and assigned the Own Key for Fring/Skype.
    Works a treat!

<span style="font-family: Arial; line-height: 5px; font-size: 2px;">I haven't personally tried this yet but a quick google on "android 2. skype not working" brought up some pages on the same issue. Not only with Ziio. <a rel="nofollow" href="http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=753603]Here's[/url] one from the skype forum. Please note that these are third party applications and there is no guarantee that these apps will work perfectly on the device.

  • N95 skype sign in problem

Hi guys i.m facing a problem on my n95 when i.m try to sign in my skype i.d it will be not sign in after clicking on sign in signing process start but after 5 or 10minutes not sign in plz help me

What connection are you using? Is it WiFi or data?
If you have tried to use both connections and yet, you're still having issues signing it with the Skype, might as well try to uninstall and re-install the said application. If that didn't work, you can reboot the phone or do a soft reset by just dialling the *#7780#. This won't delete anything off the phone.
If issue still persists, please make sure that your device is running its latest software. you can also get some support from the developer of Skype.

  • Nokia C5 VoIP applications (Skype, Fring) not supp...

From what I have seen and read for last two days, there is an error while trying to install Skype or Fring application to Nokia C5 phones. This is probably because of new FW (062 or 071), because it worked with older versions (031). Nokia probably does not support VoIP on series without Wifi anymore. But this is a complete nonsense, these application would have worked good enough using 3G networks.
Does anybody have a workarround for installing Skype or Fring? Please do not advice using download from OVI or Skype.com, hard reset, formating memory card etc., it is really not possible to install anyway. It probably fails during install of prerequisity called VoIPAudioSrv.

Even i m facing the same problem in my nokia c5 symbian device..it's very irritating.fring and nimbuzz uses different versions of Voipaudioserv plugin. additionally m unable to login fring nw no matter hw much time i reinstall it doesn't go beyond the login screen.i'm using fring v4.05(17).if any one has the solution then please let us know.
    Thanks & regards.

  • WLAN on N95

I got a new N95 today and have hit a problem straight away.
I cannot connect to my home WLAN.
This is what I have done.
I have set up an access point.
Selected WLAN as data bearer put in the correct SSID.
Tried both public a and hidden in network status.
    Put Infrastructure in network mode.
Put open network in security mode.
Every time I get an instant response of 'No WLAN found'
How do I resolve this. The signal is very strong and my PDA and laptop work.

I have just received an N95, expecting to use it extensively on WLAN. Configuring was easy (though I did not like that I had to 'unhide' the SSID on the router). All appeared well: I had a strong 54Mbs signal until I tried to connect to the Internet. Then the dreaded "No gateway reply" appears, and appears and appears (despite my best efforts and the assistance of others on this forum). Furthermore, there appears to be no way to adjust anything - in spite of the copious suggestions made by others - for which thank you all. Also, there is no apparent way to access WLAN services which need a registration form - for example iPass - if you are in an airport/station: this is a nonsense.
One of the reasons that I wanted WLAN was for Skype, etc. For those who do not know, Fring's software is NOT compatible with the N95 (and its answer to my request was so negative that Fring deserves no more ...). Skype via Fring on an N95 will not work.
I also looked at a variety of other software - also incompatible with the N95.
I have looked for Nokia support. Aside from the fact that large chunks of its Web site seem unable to deliver (including the manuals) which is pathetic, no one from Nokia seems to monitor or participate in its own forums so as to provide help. I guess that Nokia also just does not care. (Nokia cannot blame O2, Vodafone, etc. for non telephone - like WLAN - problems: these belong to Nokia.)
Ergo, my current conclusion - based on my own experience plus those of you here - is that the N95 is an unsupported experiment in which Nokia has little interest and where support for what could be an incredible platform is lacking. My N95 goes back (unless a miracle happens); I suppose I will have to keep my pokey Motorola until some other manufactuere grows up (the Samsung Blackjack looks interesting).
My recommendation to anyone wishing to use WLAN/Internet access on the N95 is AVOID the N95. It is not worth the bother. Also, do not expect to be able to charge your N95 off your PC USB cable: this is so logical, and is another reason to keep the horrible Motorola.

  • Panasonic TV and Skype Camera only send video for ...

I just bought a TCP50ST50 TV and the TY-CC20W camera for Skype. Incoming video is fine. Audio in and out is fine. Sending video lasts for 5 seconds, then the camera turns off. I hit the ok button on the remote and the video starts sending again for about 5-10 seconds, then turns off, hit the ok button, working again. Terrible way to have a video chat between grandparents and grandkids. Please help...

Lots of luck getting your problem fixed. Skype will tell you it is Panasonic'c problem and Panasonic will tell you it is Skype. You have a great deal of company and if anyone knows of a class action suit I would like to know. The error "the far end party cannot receive video" just bounces off the clueless script reading tech support who just answer questions with moronic questions of their own. This has seriously turned me off buying any other Panasonic product for the rest of my life. Can't I get some redress for all the prominent Skype hype on all three products, TC-P50GT30, DMP-BDT310 and TY-CC20W, no small bit of cash when purchased. Crimony

  • Using Skype with iPhone

I have recently been corresponding with website developers (India, China, etc) from within chat. Many have a skype account but don't always give a number. The closest thing for Skype that I have found for the iPhone is something called Fring which has a Skype add-on. I have added $10 of funding to the Skype account and chosen pay-as-you-go. Am I going down the right path with Fring? What is the best way to do this kind of calling from the new iPhone? How can I call a Skyper without a number using the iPhone?

The 10 dollars you added to skype allows you to use your skype account to call land lines (and cell phones in some countries).
You don't need to fund skype at all for Skype to Skype (computer to computer) calls.
You don't need Skype at all for Fring to Fring calls, but far more people are familiar with Skype than Fring. You do need to be on WiFi.
So if your associates in other countries will give you their skype name you can add them to your buddy list on Skype (this is easier on the computer), and use these contacts on fring.
Note that Fring needs your skype account ID and Password. This is stored somewhere (its not clear if its only kept on your phone). It is used to patch between Fring and Skype.
I'm not sure that Fring has the infrastructure to handle tons of calls. The call quality is not always that great on Fring+Skype.
The best thing would be a native Skype App for the iPhone, but I doubt the carriers would appreciate this and they might lobby Apple not to allow it. Better yet would be a native Skype client that could use 3G. But I suspect the carriers would be even more unhappy about this.

  • Skype not working on N8

hi i am using n8 symb belle and my skype is not working, when i open it and press the sign in box it crash everytime i try to type my name in order to sign in do u guys have any solution? And i am so tired of this phone giving 2many problems.and i knw that having a dream of having a video call on skype is not going to be true when it comes to N8

Yes all the way in April &i have ths same issue. Belle application fixes have been poor, no Skype, no Fring, many things stopped working. Belle it's a nice update, I wished things worked without all the weird error relating to things like which theme you use. Absolute nonsense
Remember, Questions and Answers are required by this Nokia support board. It's very strict, don't complain, criticise or express opinions which does not answer question or your post could be deleted. My friendly warning.

  • Configure SIP account on Fring on Smbian Tutorial

Just found this neat tutorial on How to configure custom SIP accounts and Skype in Fring on Nokia Symbian platform
Hope you all find this useful!!

I found the solution for this.
On Nokia E series devices, you need to install a software from Nokia SIP_VoIP_Settings_v1_0_en at the URL : http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
When you install it, you need to go to Menu -> Installation -> SIP VOIP Setting -> NAT firewall Settings.
Here you need to configure the Domain parameters for sip.goandcall.com and put the value of STUN server as provided on your website.
Please note, we do not need to configure the outbound proxy in E61i ( referred as Proxy Server).
The reason we need to install the above software is because I could not find advance settings in Nokia to configure STUN server.
    Hope this info helps.

  • FUTURE OF FRING?

Out of curiosity... What do you think is the future of FRING? Since Skype has launched their own MOBILE CLIENT, and is NOT free to talk skype-to-skype as FRING, what will happened with them?
Will skype start to cripple FRING path? FRING will became paid service as well?

Información sobre Symbian / NSERIES en Español en http://symbianespanol.wordpress.com

The problem with Skype's own software is the fact that it does not use wlan hence you still end up paying local network charges. I personally uninstalled skype mobile once I discovered this.
Fring for the moment is still the way to go if most of your friends are on Skype.
