N95 - v12 firmware, buzz gone

Just updated the firmware on my n95 to the newly released v12 and i have to say that the annoying high-pitched buzz/whine in-call has gone for me.
It was the first thing i noticed when i made a call shortly after.
GPS lock-on from a cold boot (not having had the in-built gps on for a good week or so) was around 70 seconds
The augmented GPS seems to work (my phone knows where i am in a building)
Overall ... the annoying things that have bugged me from day one are gone.
Have to say ... and not many people do this anymore. THANK YOU NOKIA
Seems like you did a decent job in polishing the phone os ... keep it up

  • N95 V12 firmware withdrawn?

Has V12 firmware been removed from the Nokia update site. Tried updating my N95 this evening and was only offered the same V11 that I already have to reinstall.

It probably hasn't been approved by your network operator yet.
Some networks are much quicker than others at approving new firmware versions.

  • N95 v12 and Nokia Maps.

    Hi.
I made a "mistake" just after I got my N95 and updated the Maps program. Not the entire firmware since it's not avaliable for my phone yet, just the maps program.
Now I've understood that I used to have the tracking feature before I updated, I don't have that now.
If I run the 12.0.013 update again, will I get the original version of Maps with tracking back?

  • Installing Certificates on N95 after firmware V11

    Hi
trying to install a self certified certificate for our work email server on an N95 as well as for our Wireless access at work. I was able to do this when I first had my N95 with firmware version 10, the certificate appeared in Tools / Settings / General / Security / Certificate Management. WLAN and secure connection via Road Sync worked fine.
However after upgrading top V11 and now V12 this functionallity seems to have changed. I have copied the .cer file on and clicked the file in File Manager but get an error message "Unable to open. File type not supported" so cannot install the certificate this way.
Internet suggests browsing to the web site that the certificate is used on and the certificate should then appear in Certificate Management, this no longer works.
Has anyone got their own certificate on to an N95 after firmware v10?
    Thanks in advance.
    Al
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have wasted a lot of time trying to get my E51 to load a self-signed certificate. I have the latest E51 firmware. I have tried every trick I have found on the web and in this thread to no avail. My other phone is a HTC 8525 and it works fine with the same certificate. I also followed the instructions in the Nokia Mail for Exchange documentation to load certificates. The certificate is already in the format described in the Nokia documentation but in frustration I have tried every other format as well as renaming the certificate.
If I load the certificate onto the phone using PC Suite and then use file Manager to open it, I get "Unable to open. File type not supported"
If I upload the certificate onto a web server and then point to it with the web browser I get a 'File Corrupted' error.
Can anyone point me to what I am doing wrong? I really don't want to give up this phone but it is useless if I cannot get my work meial to function properly. It will be back to my Windows Mobile phone....

Exit from music player, remove music files that has been add to SD and run the music player again. Update library again - result 0 files add (it's right), but files that has been removed still in media library and do ways for clear library!
    4. Turn the camera ring for run camera applicatio. The Camera application has runed. Make one foto using button on phone body. After shot we see the foto preview. Don't close application and turn back the camera ring - must be close camera application and preview - but preview has closed but camera application still runing and we see black screen ( because camera lense has closed).

  • WARNING N95 new firmware release.

I have recently launched the new Nokia N95 firmware, being aware to carefully back-up my data before launched this firmaware.
Unfortunately new N95 firmware launched after having read in vradio.org FAQ, that my player software named "vradio" bought for 20 euros one week later, is now obsolete because of this N95 firmaware.
And the only way is i have to pay fees one more time !
I am horrified to be victim of such swindles.
Two e-mails were send to [email protected], AND [email protected], responsable developper. His answers still waiting.

    Thanks for answers
I don't really know if "vradio" is third party software, because i bought this software few days ago using an url's named "software market".
This url were directly connected on NOKIA official site and unfortunatly this url seems to have disappeared ! ! !
Is there any people who know why "Nokia-software-market" is now not supported by Nokia ?
In an other hand, i will be very curious to know if you are able to play/listen some web stream radio using your N95/new-firmware when you click this adress ?:
    http://community.loudcity.com/stations/radio-prank-com/files/show/winamp.pls
Vradio software is an application to organize some of web-radio adress in a playlist sort. Until now, it was possible to listen some file's style "winamp.pls" in one click from the web adress without this software ! Now, with the new firmware, i get an error message: "not supported", each time !
While I am now sick of having no access to any free radio/video since my change of this damned firmaware on my N95.
    So ATTENTION ! WARNING !
If there is still time for you do not change the firmware . . .
Under penalty of transforming your wonderful mobil phone Nokia N95 in a new kind of unit mute, and blind !

  • N95-3 firmware new update release date

    Hello,
By mid march, 2008, the n95-4 will be released in the US. This will be the next product in the n-series to be released in the US and it has been 4 months since the last firmware release for the N95-3.
I have heard that after the n95-4 comes out nokia will be releasing the new firmware for the n95-3 catching it up to the other n95 phones. A representative confirmed a new firmware will be out shortly and is being developed, but he could not give an exact date.
Can anyone confirm the release date of the new n95-3 firmware or this information as true?
    Thanks.

  • N95-1 firmware v31.0.017, anyone not suffering fro...

it seems since i updated my firmware my date keeps jumping forward 2 days. i have a weekday alarm set and i switch the phone off during the night. i suspect this combination is something to do with the problem?
    Nexu 5

It's a well known bug with v31 on the N95 and N82.  There has been several posts about it.
The only workaround is to leave the phone switched on at night or manually set your alarm after midnight.
The N96 also suffered from this but it was fixed in v12.
All you can do is report it to nokia using the "contact us" link and hope that they fix it.

  • Important Question About N95 New FirmWare?

    Hi,
I need to ask about the updating of the new firmware for n95...
while i am updating if :
    *the PC shutdown
*someone call me and the mobile ring at the updating process
    *the electricity went off
*the internet connection have a problem
*the battery become empty at the updating process
WHAT Will Happen to The Phone????
somebody says its over, the mobile is gone, its damaged
&the REAL QUESTION HERE IS :
Can i just restart the process from the begining or what?
&Does the Backup process that i had done it at the PC is useful to get back the old Firmware or its just for the files i installed on the phone??
    thx gus.............

while i am updating if : ... see here
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4577229
    *the PC shutdown
    - you should get "Software update failed".
*someone call me and the mobile ring at the updating process
    - calls can be made and received while the software is being downloaded. The call will be terminated automatically when the update phase begins.
*the electricity went off/*the internet connection have a problem/*the battery become empty at the updating process
    - Power or internet connection was lost during the update. The update may have been successful. Remove the battery and if the software was not updated, try again.
*Does the Backup process that i had done it at the PC is useful to get back the old Firmware or its just for the files i installed on the phone??
    - Nokia device firmware cannot be downgraded. Once you have upgraded your device, you will not be able to restore it to the earlier version.

  • N95 bugs: firmware addressable ?

Hi -- I've been playing with the N95 in Singapore for a few days now, and I absolutely love the features, and to think of the endless possibilities.
The bugs I have found so far are:
    1) High-pitched sound/noise in earpiece almost at all times. This is really annoying, and is less evident if the phone has been lying idle for a while. I first thought it only occurred when the screen was lit, but now I realise that it only subsides if the phone has been idle for some mins. (maybe shuts down some process?) --- I really hope this can be addressed, because this is a killer in making the phone pleasant to use. Anyone else face this problem ?
    2) "Silent" mode isn't really silent. Of course we all carry our phones to our offices and want to try out the features in an idle moment. But in silent mode, the phone still makes beeps from the camera and plays out music on the loudspeaker! Embarrassing ;-)
    3) Low battery power: The phone dies in a day or less than a day. Will there be new higher-powered batteries available someday ? How can I conserve power ?
Are these bugs fixable in firmware ? How do I check firmware version on the N95 (#0000# doesn't seem to work) ?Message Edited by gadget_adapter on 05-Apr-200704:14 AM

Given the phone's only been out a few days, I guess the firmware would be recent, lah!
Re the issues with "silent" mode: sounds to me that's how it is designed to work. For some reason Nokia have been making it more and more difficult to suppress the camera noise on all their phones. Sometimes turning of keytones works. You'd expect the music player to work, even in silent mode: that's really about not ringing or buzzing ..
As for the battery, what a surprise! An N-series with lousy battery life? Who'd-a-thought?
Unfortunately, you're just going to have to learn to live with lousy battery life: all of the N- and E-series phones have this. There's not going to be a new, higher powered battery for the N95 - at least, not anytime soon. I believe the N95 already comes with the latest, highest powered battery and since it hasn't been retro-fit to other phones, I'm guessing when the next battery comes along, it won't be retro-fit to the N95.
All you can do is optimise the phone to minimise the power it uses. That basically means turning of features you're not using. Here's my list of things you can do to save battery on the N80 - I guess the list will be pretty similar for all of the N- and E-series phones:
    - turn off bluetooth when not in use
    - set Network mode to GSM only
    - set Wireless LAN Show Availability to Never
    - set Sleep mode on
    - reduce the screen brightness
    - reduce the power saver time out time
    - reduce the light time out time
I guess with the N95, you should also add:
    - turn off the GPS when not in use
.. if you can do that.
This will make a small difference, but at the end of the day your best bet is to either carry a charger with you or have lots of chargers littered about the places you go: home, the office, the car (if you're rich enough to have one in Singapore, you can afford a bunch of chargers!) etc.
You might also consider buying a spare battery - I'm sure you can get one for like 10 bucks at Sim Lim Square.Message Edited by patc on 05-Apr-200708:59 AM

Does anybody have any indication or idea when nokia will release firmware to replace v12?

    Nathan

Almost 5 months ago there were rumors about v20 and that's it. It is still rumors. Only a couple of people in this forum seems lucky to be end up with the perfect N96. psychomania***** is one of the lucky ones. The minute someone says something wrong with their N96 psychomania***** comes out with his fairytale about his perfect N96. May be he is sponsored by Nokia. Who knows? It is cheaper than making a real phone.
I met many people in and out side this forum who are extremely disappointed with their N96. They all feel cheated by the Nokia. I was a Nokia phone fan for many years. I will never buy another Nokia phone again. I paid more than £500 for my N96, sim free and unbranded. I had it replaced 3 times and even with v12 it is still buggy.
Remember when the N95 came out. It took them years to come up with the firmware that suited the phone. By that time the market value of the phone dropped to very low.
Considering the current financial status of Nokia and the recent sales figures, I don't think Nokia is keen to bother with firmware upgrades for N96. They got your money and they are not in a hurry to fix your phone. They will be spending all their resources on new scam to generate more cash by launching another new model. May be N97.
If you bought a N96 then you been DONE. Don't waste your time and move on. I did.

Same problem here for product code 0546669. After contacting Nokia and my operator Vodafone (Netherlands) a while ago, Vodafone indicated having no time-plan for release of the update.
Specially now maps 2.0 is coming up I am thinking of alternative ways to update my N95, although I feel it is ridiculous even have to consider this option.
Your issue is with Vodaphone and not with Nokia. Your solution is very simple - de-branding, which is covered and explained in many many places on the web, so I don't plan to explain again here. De-branding will allow you to use generic updates. There is no other solution, apart from waiting for the branded fw, which will always be well behind.
However, you have rather hijacked this thread, which is about when the next update will be available for the N95-1. Can we keep the thread on topic, please, and if you or anyone else wants to want to discuss problems with updating any further, please do that under a thread which is on that topic, and not under this one. Thanks.
