N95 V20 Welcome Note/Logo BUG!

Hello Everyone
After I upgraded to V20 from V11, I have this bug. Welcome Note /Logo does not work properly anymore.
Forexample; If I write a text to show up when the phone boots, some times (one in 10) it does not show up, the blue NOKIA logo appears then goes right in to the standby screen!
Similarly, sometimes even my default "HandShake" screen is skipped by the phone, and the phone goes right in to the standby screen...
Anyone else is experiencing this? Should I be concerned? I re-installed the firmware twice and it is still doing this.

It's nothing to do with the year, it's just a bug that appeared in recent firmwares.
The N96 had the bug in v10 and v11 but it was fixed in v12.
The N95, N95 8GB and N82 all have this bug in v31. I believe the 6110n also has this bug. There have been many posts about it already this year.
The issue is caused by the alarm clock and only effects users that set the alarm before midnight and switch their phones off.
Can you provide any links to any posts on this forum that shows a 5800xm with this issue? Some 5800xm's have an issue with losing a few minutes every now and then but it's not the same bug as the other models.

Anyone else having problems? When i try to connect to my exchange server (Using Wifi or GPRS (3G)) It will just connect, say connected and then sit at idle?
When seetting to always active as well im getting an error about my exchange server not supporting that type of connection?

Syncing to my Exchange server is a big issue to me and I would like to know if Mail for Exchange is working for someone. If it does can you please supply me with verion number of the Mail app...
If not - can I somehow downgrade again ??

Logo Bug and Title template

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to solve the following....
I am creating lots of videos, which need to be the same in terms of the logo bug location and size... is there a way of creating a template for this so that i can just drop it into each new sequence and it will appear in the right location and as the right size everytime?
also with titles and boxs can i do this also.

N95 dual slider not opening multimedia menu

I have an N95 1Gb ph, when I use the slider to open the multimedia keys the multimedia menu does not activate. I'm sure I have turned this off somewhere but I can't work out how to get it back. Any suggestions would be great

Are you sure it did effectively roll back the firmware version? Key in *#0000# to find out what version is in fact installed.
As others have pointed out, the media menu opening automatically when you slide the face downwards was removed in firmware v20 (and not a minute too soon IMO) so it looks like that's what you still have.

Annoying but not fatal bug uncovered in Aperture file size metadata.

The bug described below was found as a result of testing the relative print sharpness of the Aperture print routines. I printed an adjusted Canon 5D image with Aperture's print routine to a 4X6, 300ppi print output, then took the same image through P'shop, (as a PSD) downsized the file to the same dimensions and converted it to 8-bit color depth. Then printed the returned file through Aperture.
To my surprise when I was performing this comparison, I found that the file size shown in the metadata panel of the test file was not reduced, even though I had significantly downsized the file (from an "outbound" 72.2GB to an "inbound" file of slightly less than 7GB. So I repeated the round trip to P'shop, using the OSX Inspector to examine the relevant .approject size at three points in the workflow:
1) Before executing the "Open in External Editor" command;
2) After the PSD version had been created by Aperture; and
3) After re-sizing the file in P'Shop and saving it back to Aperture.
The net of the test was as follows:
1) The size of the base (pre-export) .approject increased by approximately 72.2GB when it created the 16-bit PSD file for export to P'shop - exactly what the metadata showed and what I expected for a 5D file at 16-bit color depth.
2) When the resized file was returned from P'shop, the base .approject file was now only 7.5GB larger, indicating the size of the returned file was in fact reduced by the downsizing.
So the problem is not creation of an abnormally large Aperture PSD file. The metadata file size is simply not updated when the downsized file is returned from P'shop.
I submitted a bug report to Apple on this, but I'm not sure what priority it will get. So this is an FYI in case others have observed a similar phenomenon and been concerned about it.
BTW: The file downsized via the P'Shop round trip was noticeably sharper on printing (from Aperture) than the print produced directly out of Aperture. So it appears the print output sharpening routines in Aperture still need considerable improvement. That's the improvement I'd rather have Apple spending their time on than an anoying but not fatal bug in file size metadata.

Help!!!Cannot update firmware N95 v20 to v21

Could anyone help me with this problem
i've installed NSU and nokia pc suite(all latest..)
i've plug the my n95(v20), detected by PC suite...
i run NSU,, detected,,, and downloaded v21 firmware for n95 (112mb)..
after it finished downloading, when it try to install it.. it says
"Downloading update failed"
"internal module error"
maybe i didnt read the instruction about change profile to general..
i changed it to general, the problem still the same...
okay maybe after i didnt change profile there is some file left in my phone.. so i decided to soft n hard reset.... and i connect again... still showing the same problem, after it finished download...
so i used my other computer(maybe there is some problem with my vista), so i used my XP...
and it still showing the same problem..
i've used that msxml4 solution, but it still didnt work...
Please help me....

"Bug" 4947170 has been set to "Closed. Not a bug" in Metalink?

What does this mean? The bug (ORA_ROWSCN DOES NOT WORK WITH VPD POLICY ON TABLE ORA-904) has instructions on how to reproduce it and yet the status has been set to "Closed, not a bug". ?? Is the implication that one should not be able to user ORA_ROWSCN on a table that has a VPD policy?
The problem is due to the fact that when you create a policy for the table the table name ends up being used for a view instead, which does not have ORA_ROWSCN in it. So I guess they are saying "VPD intentionally makes a view. Views do not contain ORA_ROWSCN. Therefore, VPD and ORA_ROWSCN are incompatible"? Can't say as I'm thrilled with that answer.

That's why I was looking into this as well. But I'm almost certainly going to be using VPD as well so it's kind of a non-starter as it is.
BTW, something to know about ORA_ROWSCN is that by default the # is for the entire BLOCK of data in Oracle. If you want each row to have it's own ORA_ROWSCN number then you have to specifiy a certain clause in the create table commands (rowdependencies). Also, if you want to convert the # to a timestamp, it's "only" accurate to within 3 seconds.

Premeire CS6 & photoshop "codec not found" bug fix

I recently started using premiere cs6 & found that if i import layerd photoshop file as a sequence save it & close the application. File does not reopen. i searched sevrel forum but did not found any satifactory solution.
I did dicovered a workaround. check steps below:
1. Import photoshop file as sequence
2. open sequence with all the layers-> Copy all the layers
3. Make a new sequence & choose appropriate preset ie resoluton & codec of project
4. paste all the layers in new sequence.
5. MAKE SURE you delete photoshop sequence that was made when importing .psd

I did a search on my system and found the Photoshop has a fastcore plug-in. Creative Cloud includes a subscription version of CS6 version 13.1.2. I do not know if you installed that or not. The cc un-install may have done something. You may need to use Adobe Cleaner then Install The Perpetual CS6 version of Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6 Mac or Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.1.3 PC and not the subscription CS6 extended version 13.1.2. Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 If you need to download the CS6 installer Download CS6 products.
You may also be able to recover your cs6 using an old system backup

N95 route planning not very optimal?

Hi All,
Well, I'm getting along fine with the N95 but I have noticed that the route planning isn't as good as I thnk it should be.
The route I've noticed this most on is from St Ives in Cornwall back home to Reading. Both Google Maps, The AA's website and my old GPS mapping software (ViaMichelin's MapSonic) pick a route up the A30, M5 and M4 giving a travel time of between 4 and 5 hours.
However, Nokia Maps gives me a route that avoids the M4 completely (it still uses a bit of the M5 though, so I have motorways "on" ;-) ) and with a time estimate of 8.5hrs!
This seems way off :-(
Does anyone know where I can check for a new version of the map software that hopefully addresses these deficiencies or if there are options in the program that can be used to tweak the speeds on various types of road?
In Maps, Options > About tells me I'm using "v3.0 wk09 b02 OpenGL OpenBit MN"
Is that the latest for the N95? If not, where can I look to get a newer version?
I tried both http://www.smart2go.com/en/download/ and http://nokia.com/maps, but neither even listed the N95. Why is that?

I have been using Smart2go on my N80 with an external gps. Works well but as you said, route planning is sometimes questionable. However, I think it is still pretty good for what it is. Another area that could be improved is the voice guidance which only seems to give instructions when you need to venture of the straight route, as in, it does not tell you to "go straight at the next traffic light".

in vi editor you must insert 2 line feed characters and then a cariage return.
If you need to insert control characters in vi such as line feed or carriage return you must type Control-V then the next Control character for them to be recognized as control characters.

In your case it would be:
<Control-v<Control-l><Control-v><Control-l><Control-v><Control-m>

Banner variable I've not set this ! instead i've created a file with necessary inputs saying "Bla Bla access restricted so on " maka shure u add this file to the /etc directory file name is issue " /etc/issue" the contents of this file would be displayed if any 1 connects through telnet, it can be used as a welcome message as well as a warning to potential guys who play around by adding a line saying Ur activity is being logged.

Getting welcome note from session

Situation:
following a successful login the users NAME is stored in the session object:

the welcome note always displays WELCOME TO THE JAVA PET STORE, i cant get the personalise version to work.
to test i removed the redirect (from the login page so keeps posting to login) and copied the welcome note code to the login page..this worked fine ?

Check your cookies setting, are they turned off? Few servers use cookies for session maintainence but if your URLRewriting is not turned on and cookies are turned of then you won't have the same session accross multiple pages. check to see if the cookies are on, on your browser settings.
