N95 Version 12.0.013

I have software issues with NOKIA N95. Software freezing now and when I click on redial (Green button) it starts to open log but then automatically closes. I tried powering off phone and back on again, problem still persists. I spoke to Nokia Care on telephone about software update and they advise of version 20, but the lastest software updater advises I have latest version. My product code is: 0550199.
Also, Nokia Care cleared my Navigation licence from my N95 8GB and followed steps to update licence to my N95 phone, but it keeps saying, licence already in use. Licence has been cleared to re-register it and I have latest version of software.
Please help......

Thank you for your reply scoobyman.
I re-installed the software to same original 12.0.013 but still had problem of not been able to access the call log after I had reloaded latest backup. It must have saved the bug on the backup that was causing the problem. I re-installed it again and reloaded a previous date of backup and that sorted out the call log issue.
I had updated from Maps 1.0 to 2.0, but since the updates, it now has version 1 again on my phone but the maploader version 2.02, searches for the device but doesn't find it straight away. I left it searching for a while and N95 was not been found but was shown connected through the PC Suite. How can I update it to version 2 on my phone?
Please advise.
Thank you.

  • N95 Version: 13.0.003

    Hi
I have a N95 on Orange (11.0.026) and i have just checked the Nokia Software updater and it shows i can update to 13.0.003 has anyone done this and if so has everything been ok (is there a way of finding out what improvements have been made?)as mine seems to work really well at the moment! (touch wood etc)
    Thanks

    Hi,
The Version 13 is the latest software update for Orange brnaded equipment. (Orange software differes due to line 3 capabilties etc)
I work for Orange and can advise that the update addresses handset lock up issues and short battery life. Therefore if your battery lasts a day I would suggest downloading the update. This will put your phone setting back to factory but you can back your exsiting settings up and revert back after update with ease.
To do this you need a memory card inserted. Then go into tools and the memeory card icon. Now select back up phone memory from the list. Will then back up eveything including personal settings onto your memeory card. Once the update is complete you need to re-insert memory card go back to the memory card menu and selct restore from card. All done!!!

  • N95 version 30.0.0.15 active standby screen layout

Why does 'Search: Internet and My content' in the active standby screen suddenly have to run over onto a second line in version 30.0.0.15? It didn't have to in firmware version 20.0.0.16 and it's pretty ugly...
Also, why are users who don't use or don't plan to use Share Online intensively forced to have icons for this application displayed on their active standby screen?
If these icons have to be on the active standby screen for some reason, why can they not be right-aligned instead of plopped down in the middle of nowhere?
The active standby screen layout in 30.0.0.15 is a mess.

I agree. Since v12 we've lost *three* lines of precious screen real estate on the stand-by screen. I want those back, please. The standy-by screen is now used op by stuff I rarerly use less, or use from another startingpoint. It's nice to have the *option* of having those in the stand-by screen, but for me, the agenda and tasks are much more important.
And while they're at it, I also want the "follow on map"-feature back in Nokia Maps, which they've stolen from us ever since the v20-firmware!
Does your N95 hiss like a snake?

  • N95 + One Touch Access issue on Windows Vista Busi...

    Hi all,
I searched for a solution to this issue both in this forum and in the Nokia PC Suite help but I couldn't find any.
I'm able to use Nokia PC Suite with my N95 + cable DKE-2 except for One Touch Access.
When I clic on "Connect to the Internet" I get the following error message pop up:
"You do not have sufficient privileges to modify the connection properties. Only Administrators can create and modify connections."
The funny thing is that I am an Admnistrator of my notebook (I don't know how many times I checked it from the Advanced User Accounts Control Panel).
If I clic "Ok" I get the One Touch Access window with the following message:
"There are no Nokia modems installed. Please make sure you have installed Nokia Connectivity Cable driver software."
And below the picture of the notebook and the base station:
    "No modem found!"
But if I check in the Device Manager (Control Panel) list I find "Nokia N95 USB Modem #2".
Moreover, as far as I understood, the cable driver is automatically installed with the Nokia PC Suite and I shouldn't reinstall it: http://europe.nokia.com/A4144937.

I've had the same problem but it was not solved by installing PC Suite 6.84 (as this failed to install), however this is how I got around it.
Find the "OneTouchAccess.exe" program. It should be in C:/Program Files/Nokia/Nokia PC Suite 6/. Right-click the "OneTouchAccess.exe" program icon and go to ‘Properties’, then click the ‘Compatibility’ tab. Under ‘Privilege Level’, select ‘Run this program as administrator’ and click ‘OK’.
Then when "PC Suite" tries to launch "OneTouchAccess.exe" via the "Connect to the Internet" icon, it does so with the right privilieges.
(Any body know why PC Suite 6.84 would not install on my Acer notebook running Windows Vista V6.0 Build 6000?)

  • Possible Problem for US N95 User Upgrading to Firm...

On July 19, 2007 the new firmware version 12.0.013 for Nokia N95 became available through Nokia Software Updater for US product coded N95s. I installed it and only within 1-2 hours my phone messed up. It is now almost unusable. I am trying to figure out whether this problem stems from the new firmware or from another source that occurred by chance immediately after the installation of the firmware. I posted 2 videos on youtube showing the issues.

    Thanks!

Hi Please read this link as I had exactly the same problem and this is the way i went about solving it. The phone became totally useless and i even got an error code when starting it up. This does work. Tried to link but couldn't get it to work.
    Hi All.
On two different N95 when i upgraded the phones these are the problems i experienced and how i solved it. Just to inform you the two phone were set up totally different with totally different software on it but both were upgraded from v10
First of all i made backups onto the memory cards as suggested by Nokia. Don't do this!!!! backup to PC and restore from there.
I then ran the update with no Problems and restored from the memory card. Big problems started. First of all the main screen lost all it's functions and there where no standby shortcuts on the phones. I could get into the menus by pressing the menu keys but even trying to setup the phone from here gave me no results. The standby shortcuts could not be restored at all and i think the problem has to do with the Active standby apps. or Standby mode. Even the two shortcut keys at the bottom of the phone were gone. After which i rebooted the phone. Even worse things happened then the phone then said "Failed to load or Phone load failure. Contact your Phone Retailer"
The way to fix this is to press and hold the ( 3 * and the green answer key ) and then switch the phone on hold these three key until it asks for the country you live in. This formats the phone. Enter all the data asked for that is country, time and date.
Then restore from your memory card and straight away go into your phone settings using the menu key. Go to General setting and load the Factory Settings. After this re-customize your phone and everything works like a charm.
I have had no more problems from then on. Oh and the phone is a lot quicker.
The only problem i've had with the phone from v10 and still in v12 is that i can't choose a ring tone from the memory card. The card holds about 900 songs (2 gig card). The only choice i have is to select no ring tone or to download on. The way i get to choose my ring tone is to copy the song or ring tone to the phones memory remove the mem card select the tune from the phone once i've done this i re insert the mem card and carry on from there.
    Hope this is helpful.
    Best to you all.
The N95 is a great phone though.Message Edited by hotcat4 on 20-Jul-200706:11 PM

  • N95 time and data loss after shutdown

Hi! I own an unlocked N95 mobile phone with firmware version 12.0.013. The problem is that after shutdown and restarts the time and date is lost. I have disabled the option to get the time from the network operator. I have read on other forums that many other users have this problem too. Is this hardware or a firmware problem? If it's a firmware problem, when can I expect a firmware update that will fix it? My second question: are there different firmware versions for each language, because the T9 dictionary is very unusefull in the Romanian language. Many frequent words are not recognized, other are misspell. Does a firmware include an updated dictionary too? In advance, thank you very match.

    Hi,
I have the same problem. Am also on firmware V12.0.0.13 (what ever it is).
I dont know exactly when my problem with lossing the date and time started but I dont think it was after i changed firmware.
I think the problem started when I had to formated my phone. It was running slow and getting temprimental. In fact am sure the date and time loss thing all started after I formated the phone.
The date and time is the only info I loss when I remove the battery every thing else is ok.

  • Not possible to restore after update n95 to v20.0....

    N95 on V20.0.013 / PC suite 6.82.26.0
Installed are some games, Papyrus, Handy Safe, Quickoffice, Maps - Western Europe and many more...
I made a backup of my internal memory using content copier
    Update the phone, no problems
    Perform a restore - stuck at 69%
Tried an older backup, same problem
Took the phone to the office, other PC, other backups, tried to restore, same problem.
Emptied the phone with reset to factory setting.
Performed the firmware installation again... problem remains
I have lost most programs and contact data....
    Does anyone has any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance
    Hans Goris

Firstly the latest version of PC suite is 6.86. You should get and install it.
Now try restoring again except this time unselect all other components except one. Restore each and every component of the restore one by one this way. You wil probably find that one of the components is bad and fails to restore and is the cause of your previous complete restore failing. At least now you would have restored everything else apart from that bad component.

  • Can't get a GPS fix on my N95

Hi all, I can't get a GPS fix on my current position. it is locked in berlin, Germany (where I have never been). I live in england. updated firmware toay that didnt work. walked around in the open trying to get a satelite lock, the best I got was five white bars. no black ones. any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi patriciaanne3
You might like to look at this press release from Nokia a couple of days ago: http://www.nokia.com/A4136001?newsid=1140680
In version 12.0.013 you have an added feature in the menu with Network connection, internal GPS and external GPS, there is a fourth category A-GPS = Assisted GPS.
This enables N95 with internal GPS to establish position indoors, which is not currently the situation in earlier software versions.
"Assisted GPS, or A-GPS, is a technology that uses an assistance server to cut down the time needed to determine a location using GPS" You are using the power of a mainframe computer to cut down the number crunching needed to process position of four satellites needed for three dimensional position for first fix (TTFF= Time to First Fix) As mentioned in Nokia press release there is also scope for network provider to use mast location as adjunct to speed this process.
If you are near a WLAN of course this can provide network connection for assistance server or you can use GPRS as appropriate.
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware in my Mrs's N95 fro 11.0.026 to the current version (12.0.013). I've downloaded the updater and run it and it's not stuck "Updating the software" "Preparing installation...".
It has been preparing the installation for two and half hours now, so I suspect it's not going to happen, but I'm worried I'm going to trash the phone. Is it safe to disconnect the phone?

  • Re: N95 problems n curious

"May be the N95 8GB is what the N95 generic should meant to be" ?????
Why shouldn't the N95 be what it is supposed to be?! So Nokia just sets out a "trial" version of it mobile phone with buggy software, watches the market impact and then decides on releasing a new model ?! Hope it's not so with such a company.
Anywayz let's not start getting overheated on this issue... so back to my problem I talked about earlier (not recognizing contacts whose number is saved in international format +961...) Does any of the N95 users experiencing such a thing ? Any solution?
Anywayz I contacted the company by email and what I got was this answer:
"Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
We are always pleased to be of assistance to all of our customers in the region of the Middle East and North Africa. With regards to your enquiry, please be informed that we have escalated your inquiry to the relevant department and we will revert to you back when we receive the updates about the issue you are facing."
What the hell does this mean ??? Well this looks like a nice ditch to me.
Please Advise !!!!!! IS there any plans for a new version ?????? IS VERSION 12.0.013 THE DOOMED ENDING OF MY N95????

    To the OP:
The answer means exactly what it said, your problem or query has been passed over to the relevant department who will deal with your enquiry. It's just a courtesy email to acknowledge reciept and handling of your enquiry.
Who would you rather recieve information from? The janitor who happens to be in the office at the time and can reply in 5 minutes, or the tech support folks who may take a while longer?
There's DEFINATELY a V.13.xx.xx on the way, I shalln't be adding to the rumour mill about what it's tackling. There's no date for release for it yet as far as anyone I know (who would know these things) is aware, but it's happening.
Hang fire for a while, if your firmware is screwy try reinstalling it a couple of times, it's a bit of a mixed bag and different installs can have different results. Why is anyone's guess but that's the way it is.
It's a great phone which has had the majority of it's bugs ironed out with the last 2 updates, can't say I've experienced any new bugs having ran version 12 of the software for quite some time but I am aware of a few gliches that need fixing, and hope they are.
I have to say I'm very happy with my N95 and have yet to use a phone that compares to it.

  • N95 and the New Ford Focus (post 09/08) Sony Bluet...

I have a really annoying problem with my N95 and the New Ford Focus (post 09/08) Sony Bluetooth system. The phone connects no problem at all and I can make and receive calls. Selecting some of the directory information on the Sony system such as phone book or missed calls shows that the Sony system is trying to read these from the phone without much success. Even after 20 minutes it seems to have either hung or states that the function is sometimes unavailable. I would be reasonably happy if this was the only problem I had was experiencing but I find than within 10 - 25 minutes of connecting the phone it disconnects from the Sony system. The disconnection seems to be caused by the Sony Bluetooth system as any other functions such as the CD or USB reset themselves which is itself annoying.
I have tried connecting the phone manually, reducing the items in my address book from 150 to 50 to nothing, pairing, un pairing all to no effect.
The Ford connectivity site says that the N95 is fully compatible from 09/08 no I am struggling slightly to understand what the problem might be.
My O2 N95 version is 21.0.016 which is higher than the version Ford has tested but they also mention that there are no incompatible versions of the OS.
Has anybody else experienced these problems or aware of a fix?
    Cheers

Hi and Thank you for your question, I agree we would not be in this situation if ford and nokia would take customers seriously...anyways what you need to do is first in my country south africa the bluetooth for the focus is not an option at all, then you will be required to buy the kit from ford, which include several items that comes separately e.g the stalk for the steering control that has a voice button, a bluetooth module and a mic and a cable to interlink everything, from there onwards, get someone or yourself to fit the kit in the car once that is done you will then need to go back to your dealership/shop and request then to reprogramme the car with a IDS Machine with the SRM module....please read further for more instructions...
