N95 Vista PC Suite etc

I have noticed that using the music manager to transfer music from a Vista PC to the N95. No matter how you tell the music manager to or not to convert the music, it still plays like a chipmunk song on the N95. The PC suite needs an overhaul it does not perform well on Vista (even the Vista patched version).

ernmander: My apologies if you have taken offense of my reply. Please bear in mind that I responded directly to your post which suggests the problem being the PC Suite with Vista.
I said that it works fine meaning I have had no issues whatsoever which then suggest that you may have an isolated problem.
So now we would need others to reconfirm whether you are the isolated case or I am.
Cheers!

  • N95, Vista drivers and media player mode

HI, Sorry to double post but I'm new to this forum and not sure where this should go. I got a new N95, I installed the older version of PC suite that came on the disc with the phone. I then updated to the latest version. .83 . It works fine with PC suite I can sync things transfer files etc, however I cant use it in data transfer or media player mode (it keeps searching for drivers it cant find). These are the only modes I am interested in. This is on a fairly new laptop with Vista ultimate installed. However I tried it on another computer in my house with Vista Home Premium installed, however this time I didn't install any extra software and it detected the phone in both data transfer and media player mode without any problems.
So I'm guessing that it installed something to mess it up when I installed the original version of PC Suite. PC Suite cleaner says it isn't vista compatible but I ran it in XP compatibility mode and it appeared to do something, but I have un-installed all versions of PC Suite and it still has the same problem, I cant use system restore as it kept setting restore points whenever it installed a part of PC suite and I ran out of system restore points. So please tell me how can I get it back to normal. It looks like I'm not the only one here with a similar problem, someone must know something, Id be really grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

yes, I do have same problem but I'm using N80 and winxp home, media player version 11, can anyone help us thankx
I can help I think. I just spent all afternoon yesterday with this problem and my conclusion is that in spite of what Nokia says somewhere in the installation documentation about the Media Player driver for WMP 10 working with WMP 10 "or above", it does not work with WMP 11, and if you want this functionality you will have to roll back to WMP 10 from WMP 11.
I think this may not be an option for Vista users, but for WinXP SP2 and an N80ie such as I have, here is what happened to me.
I had WMP 11 and I downloaded the driver for WMP 10 from here.
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4237039
I then connected the N80ie to the PC using the C series cable that came with the phone, and when the Found New Hardware Wizard started I browsed to the location of the driver file and it announced that it had installed it, and I had to reboot. Whenever I would reboot, or even without rebooting, the Found New Hardware Wizard kept opening again, and again, and again and would seemingly have never stopped opening.
Now in retrospect I see that I wasn't installing it according to the directions, which say to right click on the WMP 10 driver file and choose "Install", but I don't think that would work any better if I had.
In the end, I rolled back to the Version of WMP that was on the machine when I installed WinXP (which was WMP 9) and then upgraded it to WMP 10.
Then following the directions for installation this time, I right clicked on the WMP 10 driver file, installed it, and it works fine.
If you open WMP 10 and choose Sync, and if the N80ie is connected via cable and Media Player mode, you will be able to choose it at the top of the right hand pane of the Sync display in WMP 10 and see the files on yor N80 plus (if the directions are correct and I understand them correctly... I haven't tried it) copy files in one direction from WMP 10 to your N80.
One thing I did differently than the rollback instructions call for... if you check here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/readme.aspx
Step 15 under "Rolling back to a previous version of the Player" says "Click Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0.0" and then click "Remove".
I found that I had "Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.5" installed instead of 1.0.0 and when I clicked "Remove" I got dialog box that said if I removed it a whole list of programs might not work anymore, including but not only Nokia PC Suite, and Nokia Software Updater. So I elected NOT to remove "Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.5", and everything seems to work OK in spite of my not doing that.
    Hope this helps.
I think that Nokia needs to come out with an updated driver for WMP 11 or Vista users are out of luck if they can't roll back to WMP 10, and us XP users will have to stay on WMP 10 until that happens if we want this feature to work on our N80's.
    Best Regards,
    Dave

  • Using Nokia N95 with Mac - maps etc...

Does anybody know if the new Nokia N95 can be synced up with Mac. The nokia website only mentions the PC suite for windows. I have managed to download photos via the usb cable, but would like to download maps for the built-in satnav, transfer videos music etc...
My dusty 5 year old PC laptop has been in the cupboard for 2 years since I bought my first Mac and I'd rather not go back and upgrade eveything just to make the most of this cool new device.
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum - where else would I post it?

You can only use MapLoader on Windows.
I am using it under Parallels Desktop Build 3188. The thing is, smart2go who i think provides the map is still on beta stage. Out of the box, it has been my pratice to reformat my phone, so I have lost the maps. When I tried to download Philippines map (1.3 mb) it took me an hour to complete the download.

  • Vista, PC Suite and the Internet ... I AM an admin...

I have a laptop running Vist Home Basic (ugh!) and Nokia PC Suite 6.82.22.0. The laptop connects to a Nokia 5500 Sports phone and is being recognised OK. From that side of things all seems OK.
When I try to use the 'Connect to the Internet' function I get the message "you do not have sufficient priviledges to modify the connection properties. Only administrators can create and modify connections".
Clicking OK brings up One Touch Access which is saying, "There are no Nokia modems installed. Please make sure you have installed Nokia Connectivity Cable driver software."
So..., firstly, I AM an administrator (and I've tried starting the PC suite using 'Start as an administrator') so what's all that about?
Secondly, I believe the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver IS installed - it's showing in the programs list, so what's all this about?
One thing that may have a bearing on the matter is that the phone does not currently have a SIM card in it (I'm still deciding which network is best to go with), but I did try it with a SIM card and it had the same effect.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
I'm running Nokia PC Suite 6.81.13.0 on Vista Ultimate.
I just successfully connected to the Internet via N95 over Bluetooth.
All I did was to Right Click the "Nokia PC Suite" in the start menu and select "Run as administrator". Then I configured my Modem and boom it connected the PC to the Internet via the N95. I was lucky that my Service Provider (3 in Denmark) was in the list, so no trial on error.
After this initial setup, I do not have to "Run as administrator" to connect. Actually I created a shortcut directly to "C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6\OneTouchAccess.exe" in the "Windows Quick Launch area", so now I can connect with one click ;-)
I still got the "You do not have sufficient privileges to modify the connections properties. Only Administrators can create and modify connections" warning, until I selected "In the future, do not show this message".

    Hello,
    My config :
    - Windows XP SP2
    - PC Suite 6.85.14.1
    - Nokia N95 8 Gb (v15.0.0.15)
    - Lotus Notes 6.5
    - synchronization parameters : bidirectional, agenda and contacts
    The problem :
Everything was working fine until the last few days.
I can't synchronize my agenda anymore : the phone starts transfering my 149 agenda entries from the phone to the PC, and stops the transfer at the 80th withtout any error message. PC Suite says that the synchronization has been cancelled by user...
It doesn't come from the protocol, since the problem occurs using bluetooth or USB.
Is there a mean to see a detailed log of the synchronization process on the phone and on the PC ?
Does anybody knows how to fix this problem ?
    Regards.

    I found the problem.
In fact, it is a PC Sync bug in the parameters module, because I just recreated the parameters from scratch and it works.
Consequently, don't edit the parameters once they have been created. If you want to modify parameters, recreate them !

why when i make a video and up transfer it to my computer i go to the "view media" in pc suite and the video plays much slower then the sound of the video...do i have to convert the file or something..cuz i want to enjoy my videos but i cant because the sound doesnt match up with the video!....any help out there?..thanks

Here I go again Replying to myself.
I have just tried both Suites plus the OVI Player on a 32 bit machine running XP SP3 WMCE 2005. Guess what. The same problems with playing MP 4 Video files. This time some will play in wmp and wmc but the vast majority will not.
I cannot understand why a program meant for just playing Music can mess up the playing of Video files. Of course OVI Suite does not deal with Video transfer yet.
I am sorry to say this but IMHO this software is not fit for purpose. I have just recommended 3 friends not to buy Nokia Phones because they will not be able to use them with their computers.
Samsung PC studio does work with my system and I now regret replacing my Samsung Phone with this Nokia one. I will be calling at the O2 shop to ask why they said that the Nokia Software will work fine with Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64 bit version when it obviously does not.
     One very upset customer.
Do Nokia staff actually read or contribute to these forums????
On all the other forums I contribute to it is policy to welcome a New Member by replying to their first post. even if they have not got a solution to the problem posted. I feel this is just being polite and considerate.
     Not on here obviously.

  • N95 intellisync mobile suite download issue

Hey Everyone, I am trying to download intellisync mobile suite to my N95 (running v12) and it keeps coming up with "installation of syncclientsymbian60.sis not supported" how can this be?? I thought Nokia owned intellisync so how can they not support their own products?

have you tried to install the intellisync via PCSuite (app.installer)??? this might help...
look also at your app. manager onto the phone, as you might set the settings different (most commonly it's the certificate settings)...

  • N95 Problems: Restarts, freezes, etc

Hi, can anyone help me, i just got the Nokia N95 but it has a few problems:
    1) It just keeps randomly restarting. it's done it about 4 times today so far that i have noticed!
    2) It sometimes freezes when i take a photo.
    3) the application manager is very slugish after something is uninstalled (after the process bar has reached the end)
This is what i'v noticed so far, and i'v only been using it for about 24 hours.
Please can anyone help or can tech confirm if these are known issues which they are working on???

    Nokia N95 (83.01)

This is a very common problem it seems, from Googling around for different help solutions. In fact, I'm here because of the same issue. WHich is why I find it slightly annoying that no one from Nokia can be bothered to post a definative solution in an FAQ or something, or maybe just post here to point people in the right direction.
Despite all the attention being garnered by Android and Apple, Nokia is STILL the worlds largest manufacturer of mobile phones, and N95 8GB/N96/N97 users are probably still your loyal base of 'power' users. I for one have a smartphone because my contract was due for renewal, but still use the normally trusty N95/8 (now looking a little weatherbeaten!). Now, if you're going to convince us to try the N8 on our next contracts, it would be nice to see a few more updates and responses to ovi problems. Can we still 'downgrade' to PC suite? Perhaps I'll go and have a look.

  • N95 8GB: Ovi Suite hosing/truncating Outlook Conta...

I am very angry at the moment. I have realised that Ovi Suite has hosed my Outlook data and I have already spent a whole day (and probably many more to come) trying to recover the data.
    These are the problems:
Outlook Calendar Note fields get truncated, not consistently that I could find either (e.g. at a certain character length). It did seem to have a problem with any linked/shortcut attachments in there though (but there were very few of them). I wouldn't mind if this was just on the phone but it has screwed up this data IN OUTLOOK, the MASTER COPY!!
Ditto with Calendar items and Task items too.
For recurring Calendar and Task items, it also seems to spawn individual items for what would be each occurrence (and synchs all these back to Outlook too). I haven't had the nerve to check yet whether it actually deletes the original occurrences too.
As many people have said, it obviously appears that Nokia are rushing out, untested, sub-standard software that isn't even building on previous builds. My old NSeries PC Suite had LifeBlog and everything and worked absolutely fine. What was key to me in NSeries PC Suite was that there was a dedicated setting to say which end was the master and/or the direction of the Synch (I can't remember now). For me, I just said NEVER synch back to Outlook. Synch from Outlook to the phone, no problem, but NOT the other way.
Why did I allow the upgrade to Ovi Suite? Well, that was inadvertant. I upgraded from XP to Windows 7x64 and so had to reinstall all my apps...and got lumbered with Ovi Suite. It initially looked OK but I have since found these rather major flaws. I don't give a hoot about Ovi not working perfectly but I would at least expect that it did not royally screw up another app's data (aka Outlook). No problem with it screwing up its own data as my Nokia data is (ideally) a slave from data from my PC...but now my Outlook looks like it has been subject to a revolution.
I have also searched online for a version of my NSeries PC Suite that I could download as my original CD version was from 2008 and auto-looks up online for updates...and just finds Ovi Suite!!
So, I think I know the answer to this, but has anyone else found the same problems and, ideally a solution? Ideally, apart from the solution to just use bog-standard PC Suite, I would like to get the latest version of NSeries PC Suite that was the current release just before Ovi came out...or to get Ovi to only synch the one way.
I would tell you what the firmware version on my N95 8GB was but I am loathe to hook it up again (even though I have turned all synch off). I think it was 20.[something].
    This is my Ovi setup:

As a final note, I have been using Nokia since 1998 or so but this has left such a nasty taste in my mouth that, yes, I am almost certain to abscond to App*e (even though there are similar but far less serious problems with their synch software).
I really hate to do this as I have managed to work around all the Nokia software problems to date without much fuss. Most, of course, DESPITE Nokia, but this (one fistful of hair) did this camel's back break.

  • N95 issues with menu etc..please help!

Hi, firstly I am not technical so I apologise for any stupid questions that I ask. BUT, I am on my 3rd N95 and the latest has just seemed to suffer from exactly the same problem as the previous two.
I was changing the background theme and when I selected one of them, the screen went blank. I switched the phone off and back on again and now I finally worked out I have to enter my security code (I can't see anything)then green call key and the phone starts. It shows that there is no charge or reception although I see the Vodaphone sign, I can make a call, not sure about receiving as yet. If I select the menu button I see menu at the top of the screen and options and exit at the bottom but I can't do anything else. I received a message and I can't get in to read it.
It has switched itself off and ona few times too.....
Tried the hard and soft reset. Tried connecting via PC Suite and it says phone not compatible and I get the error code 0x80044403.
    Any suggestions? Thanks
    Anna

    It is too buggy.
    May be another repair,

I have just upgraded to windows 7. I installed pc suite and ovi suite just like i had before on windows XP. However when i try connecting using ovi suite and choosing the option of pc suite on the phone when connecting the usb cable i keep, ovi gives me the message "Please wait while USB drivers are installed on your computer" and stays in this state like for ever. I've had similar problems, but wait for the drivers to install, also sometimes my phone won't connect straight away, pulling the usb cable out of the phone and pushing it back in again quite quickly usually gets the connection to work ok !

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS - Vista - speaker calibration etc

    Hi,
I've searched but I can't find an obvious answer to what I suspect is a common question.
I've got an Audigy 2 ZS Pro which I've just installed using the drivers from the site. It's working ok but there is no applciation for set up of the speakers in a room - as there was in the original CD that I used with XP.
Can anyone help? Or am I just imagining that a utility did exist when I last installed this on an XP machine?
    Thanks
    PH

JRe: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs0 I'm afriad that the CMSS3D option did not work? ? I still cannot get any speakers to play out of the rear of the soundcard.
As I said before, the goal is to try to get sound to play out of both the headset and the speakers attached to the rear of the soundcard simuntaneously.
The headset is plugged into one of those devices in the front that is in a 5 & /4" bay that has the individual knobs for adjusting volume for the headset and outbound levels for the microphone.
The speakers are plugged into the back of the soundcard and do not play any sound in any of the sockets, starting from the firewire port and counting 3 over.
Any suggestions? I? thought it might have something to do with the setting of the speakers from control panel - > Sounds and Audio Devices -> Advanced and picking the right choice there. No luck however. Same for the Creative Speaker Settings as well.
I'm at wits end and I'd be very thankful to whoever can resolve this for me. =)
