N96 cannot pair bluetooth gps

Quite happy with phone I guess, but unable to pair with my otherwise faithful bt-gps device.
I have tried everything, factory defaults, reset etc... it just will not pair.
N96 discovers device, device asks for passcode, enter pass code... and pairing fails.
My non-nokia stuff pairs ok so feeling let down.
Any help?
GP.

Why was this post moved?
Hi goodp
Although you rightly posted this in "N" Series devices in the first place, it has broader implications in that Nokia Maps is installed on a large number of devices and there is a specific section for "Navigation & GPS" issues.

  • Cannot pair bluetooth headset

Is there a list of supported devices? I've attempt to pair a Jabra BT350 to my ipod touch after upgrading to 3.0. The headset can be paired with a mobile phone, but the ipod cannot seem to find it while searching.

I cannot find a way to delete this, but I've noticed a better thread at
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2043868&tstart=0
so I am marking this as answered.
I did type "bluetooth" in the "search discussions" box. There were no results found (which did seem odd to me).

  • Cannot pair Bluetooth with 2008 BMW - 'Uncaught exception: java.lang.Classcast Exception' message

I have been trying to pair my 8100 with my new 2008 model BMW 135i built in car kit using Bluetooth set up. The phone finds the car kit and the two appear to pair (confirmation numbers entered etc) but then the Smartphone screen freezes and the following error message appears 'Uncaught exception: java.lang.Classcast Exception'. The phone cannot then receive or make calls (won't even turn off until battery removed). Have been through the whole process several times. The car will pair with other phones and my 8100 will pair OK with other devices. Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Paul.

I have got aorund the problem by disabling address book transfer. I can now receive calls and make outgoing calls by either dialling on the blackberry itself or using the BMW idrive controller. It is better than nothing and my main use anyway is for incoming calls while driving. The whole idea of the integrated system was to be able to scroll through the address book on the steering wheel buttons and view the address book entries on the satnav screen.
I have had similar problems in the past with an integrated system in a Porsche. The Blackberry never establised bluetooth contact with that system at all.

  • Brand new iMac cannot pair bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse

    Hi there!
Just received brand new iMac 21" yesterday. Unboxed it, turned it on and none of both bluetooth devices (keyboard and magic mouse) managed to get paired.
I was able to connect a USB mouse to log into the Mac. Did all turn off/on Bluetooth, turn off/on iMac several times with no luck. Weird thing is that when I lift keyboard on a 30 degree angle above my desk it seems to actually pair with the iMac but then when back to original position it disconnects.
I've tried the magic mouse with my 2008 Macbook and works flawlessly. After several attempts never managed to pair magic mouse with iMac and as said earlier keyboard is not working on a standard position on my desk. It is frustrating to have paid close to 2,000$ for something that does not even work out of the box... Any ideas or suggestions?
I'm planning to take it today to nearest Apple Stores but have a bad feeling about "genius" folks being able to help me out. Would be worth changing iMac for new one?
    Thanks a lot in advanced!

Thanks Barry! If SCM reset means the following:
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
I've done that several times yesterday with no success. "SMC Reset" sounds quite fancy but then you google it and find that is a "simple" shut down and restart protocol... I tried "shutting down" by both selecting option via OS and also physically on the button behind screen.
I appreciate the help but unless I've done that "simple" protocol wrong it is not working.
Sorry for the frustration from my side. It just seems too much of a vague story when you hear Apple friends talking things about "the best OS", "best desktop",...and then you pay about $2,000 and find this yourself.
If anyone else interested I commit to keep this up to date with the feedback I'll get from "genius" folks today. Hopefully they'll prove themselves to live up to their position naming.

  • Cannot pair bluetooth with iPhone

    Hi!
I am trying to pair my Macbook Pro (10.6.4) with my iPhone (3GS, iOS4.0.2) via bluetooth in order to get internet tethering to work.
When I initiate the pairing from the Macbook, the "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" finds my iPhone, attempts to pair and shows me in big numbers the code. On the iPhone, an alert pops up to confirm that "...woult like to pair with your iPhone" and to confirm the passkey is the right one.
I now press "Pair" on the iPhone, and a few seconds later an alert pops up, saying "Could not pair with ..."
I can pair different devices to my Macbook (keyboard, mouse,...) and also the iPhone pairs without problems with a company Dell laptop, just Apple with Apple seems not to work.
Rebooted both Mac and iPhone, no success. And, no, the iPhone is not jailbroken.
Does anyone have any idea how to get this to work? Thanks lot!!
    Cheers,
    Hendrik

  • Cannot pair bluetooth keyboard and mouse at the same time

I cannot seem to use my bluetooth keyboard (offbrand) and microsoft bluetooth mouse at the same time on Mountain Lion.  Whenever I switch over to using the mouse, the keyboard stops working even though under the bluetooth menu it says it is still connected.  I either have to switch off the mouse or turn off and on the keyboard to start typing again. I have tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't make a difference.  I also updated the aluminum keyboard firmware update 1.1 and it doesn't seem to do anything either.  I know it probably isn't interference because they both work flawless on the same machine in a windows bootcamp partition.  Is there anyfix for this?

Sorry, but after doing some research, it appears you can only use one at a time.

  • Cannot pair bluetooth speaker with iPhone 6

My JBL Chrome worked perfectly with my iPhone 5. Now the iPhone 6 will not pair with the speaker, yet I'm able to pair the phone with my car (Infiniti Q50).The guy at the Apple store told me it likely is a bug in ios8. Is this true? Do I have to wait for several updates to restore former functionality. I'm disappointed.

I would try to reset the speaker. If you were able to pair it with the iPhone 5, and you activated the 6 from a backup of the 5, the speaker may be "confused" with a device of the same name. Also, the speaker may not be able to pair with more than one device and needs to be reset. Check the speaker's user guide to see how to reset the device and then put it into discovery/pairing mode again. Then attempt to pair with the phone.

I looked at the same sight for that and it does not say that.  This is the first time I have posted a question, you don't have to be mean about it.  I am trying to get this to work for a good cause.
It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that.

I had this problem and what I did was: read the user manual. I was actually using the wrong buttons to put the Tri-BC200 on pairing mode. I also boot my I phone. Everything worked OK. Regards.

  • Cannot pair iPhone4 (iOS 7.1) with Macbook air (iOS 10 yosemite); they do see each other but will not connect via bluetooth

cannot pair iPhone4 (iOS 7.1) with Macbook air (iOS 10 yosemite); they do see each other but will not connect via bluetooth

That is because they do not generally pair. What is it that you are trying to do by connecting them via Bluetooth? If you are referring to AirDrop or continuity, then all you need to do is have Bluetooth turned on, they do not pair.

  • HT204387 how can i make ipad discover my bluetooth GPS again?witched it on the iPad discovered it but I didn't havre the pairing code to hand.

Can I reset iPad bluetooth? It recognised my bluetooth GPS when I first switched on but I didnt have the pairing code to hand and the pairing opportunity timed out. It seems to have decided to ignore the GPS bluetooth now.

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings.  Hope you have a backup.
Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.
     Cheers, Tom

  • HT204387 Cannot pair iPhone 5 with Toyota Camry Bluetooth

I cannot pair iPhone 5 with Toyota Camry Bluetooth. Never had a problem with android

Two things that you need to verify first
    1. The first step in troubleshooting any accessory is to determine whether the accessory is compatible with the device. Contact your automotive manufacturer or the manufacturer of your aftermarket head unit to see if your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch model is compatible.
    2. Verify that both your car kit and your iOS device are running the latest software versions. To verify that your car kit is up to date, please contact your automotive manufacturer or the manufacturer of your aftermarket head unit.
Also follow the Link. hope this helps.

  • I cannot pair iPhone 4 bluetooth to Windows 7

I am having windows 7 and i cannot pair the bluetooth. someone help me please....

That's correct. The iPhone does not support the file transfer protocol. The only supported option with a computer is tethering using BlueTooth. The only other supported connections are for hands-free and A2DP devices.

  • I cannot pair my Macbook Air (Yosemite) with my iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth.

I cannot pair my Macbook Air (Yosemite) with my iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. It is recognising the devices but 'connection unsuccessful'

That is correct.  Macs do not pair to iPhones, iPads, etc.
However, pairlng is not required to get Handoff to work.  Both devices must have Bluetooth on, but they need not (indeed cannot) be paired.
OS X Yosemite: Pick up where you left off with Handoff
You must be using supported devices:
OS X Yosemite: supported devices for Handoff, Instant Hotspot, Phone Calling, SMS, and AirDrop
