microSDHC has a theoretical limit of 32gb, but these capacity memory cards haven't been released yet unfortunately. however, the stated limits for the memory cards provided are not always correct, but rest assured that the N96 will take 16gb memory cards...quite a lot of users on these forums actually use the 16gb cards, so you should have no problem. it is also recommended that if you do purchase a card, to purchase one from a reputable brand such as SanDisk or Kingston, and is at least class 4. other users have documented problems using class 2 cards, as data transfer speeds are too slow resulting in possible corruption of the memory card.
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us

    Not the iPad itself.
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.

  • N96 Phone Memory to Memory Card

    Hi,
I just got my N96 and my pc is really **bleep** and slow so thought i'd bluetooth my main stuff from one phone to the other. After about 15 songs my N96 says 'memory full please delete some files'. So all i'm really asking is how do i transfer stuff from my phone memory onto my memory card?
If anyone could help me then i'll be very grateful
    Thanks Very Much
    Alex

Incoming files over bluetooth count as messages, so you're filling up the memory devoted to messaging. By default, this is the phone's internal memory (C: drive) on which there's only about 50MB free.
Once you've transferred stuff by bluetooth, save it to the phone's mass memory (E: drive) and then delete the message in your inbox to free up the memory it's using.
As for the clock problem, what do you mean by "How do i get the clock to show on the main screen"? It shows whenever the screen is backlit. If you want it to show even when the screen is in power-saving mode then you'll need 3rd party software such as "cclock" (search for it on google), but beware that your battery life will take a nosedive.

  • *URGENT* N96 Phone Memory Issue

Just hooked my N96 via the USB cable and cleaned some stuff that I do not need of it.
Then, the thing that I noticed was the fact that from the phone memory I have only 11MB left form the 83MB!!  Checked the files in the phone memory one by one and then checked the total phone memory usage and is only 367KB!!!
Now the question is where is the rest ~70MB used in???!!

Yeah, just did that and only 2.5MB got free!!
Now went into the phone memory from the phone itself and did a scan break down of what is using and how much and found that I have 19MB in sis apps!!    I mean, I did remove all sis apps from the phone memory and installed them on the 16GB one!!  the rest is all 0 or about a few KB and then there is other files which has a 46MB usage.  Think that is the OS and stuff or not??!!
EDIT: -> also there is a 4.5MB of messages, but all my messages are saved in the Internal Memory as I stipulated it!!  How come is that??  Does having e-mails set on the mobile effect such thing as I have 2 set??!

  • N96 secure memory history delete

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to securly delete any trace of history in memory, phone and harddrive?
I am thinking of selling my N96 and I'd like to sure that there is no trace of my files on it. Nowadays we are a all to aware of criminals getting there hands on old pc harddrives years down the line and being able to find all sorts of personal information on it, so I guess the same can be done with modern mobile HDD phones...
Maybe I havent tried hard enough to find info on it be cant see anything yet.  If it is something people havent answered on these nokia forums, I think good advice here would be very useful to a fair few in future, once this type of fraud picks up with more advanced phones coming on the market.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Reformat the phone using the code *#7370#, confirm yes and enter the lock code (12345 if you have not changed it) then the phone shuts down and restarts and your data is gone from phone memory. Be aware that this will delete DRM keys for pre-installed content (some N96s were supplied with the Transformers film, British versions with a selection of BBC programmes) may also be lost.
You can also reformat the mass memory by going Menu>Tools>File Manager>Mass Memory>OptionsFormat mass memory. Alternatively, you could connect to your PC in Mass Storage mode and delete files in mass memory through Windows Explorer.

  • N96 tip (memory card)

If you are going to put a memory card into N96 it would be good to format it before putting it to N96 specially if you used this card with another phone.
The reason is that it may have incompatible data that may cause slow downs or other problems.

    El_Loco Nokia Video Blog

    Sorry more details:
Start from a "clean" memory card. Don't use the same memory card in several phones as installations and other files are incompatible
    ALSO
FORMAT the memory card with the phone. Even if the card comes pre-formatted when New.
If you do this two simple steps (and follow the advise about waitning until the data is index) you will have a better experience.
    lastly...
REMEMBER to Stop the memory card before you get it out of the N96. Lightly press the ON button and select Remove F: memory card. Failure to do so may cause corruption to the indexes (databases).

  • N96 ram memory problem

hi, i have my n96 for two weeks now. i don't have any problems with nokia maps, the pc suite, music player... (i've heard many saying that they have these problems), my problem is with the ram memory. i usually have only 38.7 Mb of free ram memory, even if i don't have any programes running in the background (not that i know of - i removed all programes installed by me). i updated the soft, hard reset. still the same problem.

The same problem for me too !
After booting my N96 with Handy Taskman I can see that I have only 45 Mb free RAM and with 128 Mb RAM it's not normal !
I asked the question on-line to Nokia and they were not capable of giving me an answer!

  • Should I buy the imac with expandable memory slot for future os upgrade size?

Should I buy the imac with expandable 8gb memory slot for future os upgrade size?

I Always try to have a little more RAM on my computers that I think I'll need when I purchase them. Either have more ram installed when you order the iMac or purchase one with open slots for upgrading.
I Purchase my iMac 5K with only 8 GB RAM but it had two open slots. As soon as I received the iMac I purchased two 8 GB modules form Other World Computeing. That brought my RAM to 24 GB. I run multiple applications and the iMac runs smoothly.

  • Awkward N96 Internal Memory

    Hi all,
Was just re-organizing my N96 and when I removed tons of useless apps for me still the size of the internal memory is still low!! i.e. Free = 12MB
When I checked the memory it stated that about 50MB sis files are installed!!  All my messages, videos, images, etc... are all saved on the 16GB memory!!
Also, was there a FW update that had saved up more internal space to about 120MB or not as I have only 83MB in total for internal memory.
At the moment am running V30 of the FW!!
    Hope someone can help!!

  • Expanding memory on HP LaserJet 1100

I installed a new memory card on my HP LaserJet 1100 (part # MXC7843A) and now can't get my printer to print.   I installed the card according to downloaded instructions from HP ("Installing DIMMs") and it seemed to go in just fine.  I tried reinstalling the printer software and rebooting the computer but still nothing.  The computer seems to be sending the page to print o.k.  All 3 lights on the control panel are blinking in unison.  According to the Quick Reference Guide, this means that "printer initialization is taking place".  Holding down the leftmost most light (the "go" button) doesn't do anything.

I had the same problem when I installed a brand new memory module C4137A which is 16 MB RAM. All lights are blinking. When I remove the memory it is fine again.
    Anyone with a solution?

  • PLEASE APPLE - Give us Expandable Memory in iPhone

I would LOVE to be able to have only 1 device to serve the purposes of phone, music and camera. But, I'm a music junkie and have SO much more than 32GB of music to put on an iPhone. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us the ability to add memory to the next iPhone generation...

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for Apple to do this. Apple hasn't done so with any iPod in the history of the iPod, so I doubt this is likely with the iPhone.
I currently have "only" 834 songs available on my iPhone. To listen to every song straight through, it would take me 2&1/2 days to listen to each song once - that is 2&1/2 - 24 hour days with "only" 823 songs. There are many iPod owners that have more songs in their iTunes library that will fit on their iPod and/or iPhone that have survived by making use of iTunes playlists and/or with smart playlists.

  • N96 Mass Memory corrupted -- Help!!

Hello, the other day without any other trouble I discovered that my mass memory is corrupted.. I tried to make a picture and phone told me this.. I even tried to format memory, but unsuccessful as system says that is used by another application!.. Could anyone help?
    Thanks

have you tried to restart the device and then try again to format the card?
you can also put the card to a card reader on your pc, format it, and then put it back to the phone and format it again.
a pc will format the card no matter what. you just have to reformat it after you put it on the phone.

  • Why does the iPhone not have expandable memory (i.e. MicroSD Chips)?

I know that many phones come with a MicroSD slot to come with the phone, but why does Apple NOT provide a slot for the iPhone. I would like to know the answer to this hardware puzzle, because many competing phones have these advantages. The only upside I see in the iPhone is web versatility and stability, and that's diminishing very very fast.

Why close it? Some people might be interested in reading it.
No, posting on a site for a different product saying your product doesn't meet my needs make it like a Surface is trolling. Chiding someone who made a comment 2 years ago who isn't even here is trolling.
Basically what you did was buy a product that you knew didn't have 2 important features that you think are essential and now you want Apple to add that. And even if they did add that then you would be posting about the fact that you can't copy anything to the USB or microSD device and you can't copy apps, documents, etc. Which is because iDevices don't have an accessible file system. And you've already mentioned you want that. Due to security reasons it isn't going to happen.
What you've said you need is a table that is a full computer. You need to buy the Surface Pro (skip the RT, there are limitations you will not be happy with). It will give you a USB port, accessories for a microSD and a fully accessible file system.
The good news is Apple's devices hold resale value far, far better than any other comparable devices. So sell yours and get a Surace Pro. You will be glad you did.
