N96 MSN Messenger and live mobile on N96

can anyone help me.
i upgraded from the n95 to the n96 and i am on the three network where i get free access to msn messenger but no i have the N96 the software is not on it and it is not available for me to download yet. does anyone know if and when it will be available to download or if not why not as it was i feature i used so much on my old phone?

Hi there, I had exactly the same problem.
I have the same phone and also on the Three network.
I managed to track down an older version of the app to use, but im not sure if it will be regarded as having "free" use by Three and your need the internet addon to save cash.

Everything is fine except MSN Messenger and Torrentapps

I really don't know what has happened, but since two or three days I can't login to MSN Messenger, nor do any filetransfer work in any Torrent-application. What is wrong? I have tried to shut the firewall on and off, without any result.
I assume I have accidently messed up something in the network settings(?). I can surf the web and everything is working excellent, except for for the above. Very annoying indeed! I use the Airport with a Netgear router.
Can I restore my network settings to the original setting?
Could it be something with the portforwarding (whatever that is)?
P.S The mother of all annoying things are that MSN Messenger and uTorrent works fine while running in Parallels

MSN Messenger and Yahoo download problems

I am new to Macs so I hope this questiong isnt rediculous... I have tried to download MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger and both of them will download to my computer but when I open them they appear on the dock for a second and then dissapear without opening. I am using operating system 10.3.9 and I was under the understanding that was the minimum requirement so I dont understand why this isnt working. I also made sure that I have read and write permission. Any idea...I also seem to have a french keyboard and can’t figure out how to use my question mark...it keeps coming up like this: é or É

Msn messenger and 10.5.2 unable to login

Hi, I have this problem with two macs (macmini and macbook intel), both with same version 10.5.2 (and same problem since 10.5.2).
microsoft messsenger (msn) is unable to login (same apply to adium or any other if try to connect to messenger.hotmail.com 1863).
Firewall is disable. You get in the messenger log

I run a TCP dump and you can see the packages go out to the router but you don't get an ACK status, only RST packets return.
Friends not using Leopard is not having problems with the same version of messenger 7.0 (and earliers).
Problem persists even if in other network (macbook connected to different networks and wireless) so problem is not in the router or ISP.
Is there anything that leopard might be blocking (or broke)..., running "dscacheutil -flushcache" doesn't help and nothing is blocking connections to that port as well as DNS is resolving fine to the right IP for messenger.hotmail.com.
Any one can give me a hint what could I try (without re-installing leopard)?
Any new ideas I could try to resolve the problem?

Hi I have similar problems.
When connected to my home network Messenger 6.3 and 7.0 connect fine using both the Wifi and the Ethernet port.
However when connected to the office network the connection times out.
Moreover I also use Jbuddy messenger Pro, same problem works at home doen't work at the office.
At the office a pac file is used for the proxy settings.
When connect to the office network using Parallels (Windows XP) and MSN Messenger 4.7 in XP connection is ok.

MSN Messenger and camera.

So, I noticed you can't web cam chat using msn messenger on a mac.
Are there any alternatives similar to MSN where you can while still keeping your MSN contact list?
I tried using 'aMSN' and that didn't work either.

Hi Alanna.
There's really no good MSN solutions out there for Mac OS X (yet) if you are planning to use the video-conference functionality. If you just want basic MSN functonality I would recommend trying out Adium (www.adium.com).
If you are on an Intel based Mac, you could try running MSN Live Messenger from Windows XP running in e.g. Parallels or VMWare Fusion (which let you run Windows on top of Mac OS X on Intel-based macs). You should probably have at least 2 GB RAM though...
Another option you might have is Skype (though your "buddies" would need to use that too).

MSN Messenger and Address Book don't work in one account

I recently succumbed to pressure from my daughter to set up MSN Messenger for her, but couldn't make it work in her account. A window appeared for reporting the problem to Microsoft, and when I looked in More Information, it seemed to be something to do with Address Book. Crashed Module Name and Blame Module Name both said Address Book. When I tried opening Address Book separately, the Menu bar appeared but trying to click on anything just resulted in the revolving beach ball. There are five accounts on our iMac, and in all the others, both Messenger and Address Book open fine. Does this require drastic action, like deleting my daughter's account and setting up a new one? Or are there any preferences that could be trashed to sort it out? She has also reported problems with Safari, but I haven't checked that one out.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Based on your description, if you refuse to reinstall the system again, may I suggest an Archive and Install as an alternative. It can preserve user and network settings with minimal disruption to your current installation.
You will have to reapply subsequent updates but it will be less of hassle than digging around for replacements for unknown missing components.

Error in itunes store, msn messenger, and software update

hello, i seem to have a problem since someone changed my proxies settings for the internet. My internet browser works just fine and I can download stuff from the internet. But, neither Msn Messenger, nor iTunes store, nor Software Update are able to make a connection and work properly. I need help,how can I make them work??

I too am having a problem. It seems to have started after the last Software Update to my MBP.
Although I am connected to the internet, my MSN Messenger for Mac won't connect.
I get a message saying "Sign in to MS Messenger failed, because the service is not available, or you are not connected to the internet".
I have checked that the service is available,(it is) and I am connected to the internet.
The funny thing is, after failing to connect with my MBP, I tried my iMac, and that too wouldn't connect.
When I tried the iMac again this morning, it was OK, but as soon as I try the MBP, the problem appears again, and then the iMac won't connect either.
Any ideas anyone?

please I want to block user from using yahoo messenger and live messenger; for that I have an ASA 5510 like perimeter equipment, all internet trafic passing through this ASA; in the same time, I also want to block internet traffic what I did by blocking http and https traffic, but I thought that by blocking these two types of traffic, it will also block yahoo messenger and live messenger but it is not the case

Inspect IM supports MSN Messenger 7.0 (Build 7.0.0816), Yahoo Messenger 7.0.0.437.
The option was to use http inspection to drop msn packets using port 80.
We provided this config. for the customer and he confirmed that it works.

Often when I'm chatting w ppl their messages doesnt come up on the screen, even though I can see that they have written something and the indicator is blinking. I have to press "end conversation" and then open it again to see what they have written. Why?

Don't worry...you won't end up hating ur Mac promise! You will honestly have a few things that might not work as well on a Mac as pc...like MSN messenger no video, etc. But after a while you will notice there are many things on a Mac to keep you from ever going back to pc again...promise!
Ok it's tough to know what to do honestly because you're having a problem accessing the site with two different browsers. And the rest of your internet is working fine. Strange! I'm not even sure what I can suggest??? One thing you might try is you said you reinstalled Messenger but the related files were probably left on your Mac. If you would go to your Users/Library/Preferences folder look for anything there related to MSN messenger and trash it. It's probably something like com.msnmessenger.plist...something like that. Just look though that folder and you will find at least one file with msnmessenger in the name for sure. Don't worry...these are your preferences. If they get corrupt they will corrupt the performance of your app. One of the first things you can always do on a Mac is to trash your preference (plist) file and see if that helps. Beware of course you lose your preferences...but usually you can fix them back easy enough.
Let's just try that for now and see if it helps messenger or not. Your Mac is new and sounds like you got everything working well...but I'm not sure right now what could prohibit you from accessing Hotmail on both browsers...

Conflict between using msn messenger in offline mode and full screen mode

I don't want to be visible in my msn messenger for the simple reason that I don't want to get chats all the time, but when I'm in off-line mode in msn messenger and I open a full screen application, immediately the messenger goes online. This happens with full screen games and while watching a youtube video in full screen. Why is this and how can I fix this?

Safari and MSN Messenger

I'm not sure what's going on but I came home this afternoon, the power apparently went out, and now. all of a sudden, I can't log into MSN Messenger and I keep getting a message when I log into Hotmail that the certificate has expired and that Safari doesn't recognize the url. I tried to launch Messenger. I have it set so that it launches automatically. Because of whatever is going on, I get an error message saying it doesn't recognize my address or password. I've deleted preference list files, reinstalled Messenger, restarted my computer, checked my internet settings...I'm at a loss. I'm sure this question should be posted to Microsoft but their lame a&*ed site doesn't offer ANYTHING in the way of actual support. Is there something I can do on my end or do I have to wait until this certificate issue is resolved?

In Safari Preferences Security tab Show Cookies and delete the ones related to MSN or Messenger or Hotmail or Microsoft. If that doesn't work you might try resetting Safari but you'll lose your Bookmarks if you don't backup your Users/Home/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist file and you'll have to reset Safari preferences.

Prob signing into Hotmail and MSN Messenger all of a sudden!

I'm hoping someone out there will be able to help me! I've only had my IMac since Xmas (new convert! heeh!)... and up till now... everything has been great, but in the last couple of days, all of a sudden I can't sign into my hotmail or msn messenger! Neither Safari nor Firefox work! Both end up saying that an error occurred and that the server had timed out!! I've tried resetting Safari, but nothing.
Can anyone help? I'm at my wit's end! I'm a serious messenger fan.. and as it is... am already quite miffed that the mac version doesn't have all the options, like being able to add the funky emoticons etc! lol! But I've let those pass, but now that I can't sign in.. i'm seriously not happy!!

Is this possible? if so, how? and where can i get neccessary programs/setting?

Not too sure about a proper program available yet as I don't think a S60 3rd edition one has been made, but you can use the web based MSN Messenger on their mobile site.
I don't know if it works in the Web browser, but certainly in the old Services browser if you go to the mobile.msn.com site there several services designed for use via the wap style site, and MSN Messenger is one of them. it's a bit fiddly (as it's page-by-page usage, pick a user, type the message, submit the form, reload the conversation, etc...) but it certainly works.
