  • Nokia N96 New Firmware Version 30.033 and Camera F...

I updated my Nokia N96 to the new firmware version 30.033 after which my phone camera is not working. When I press on the camera button it gives the message (Camera Feature not Supported). I played many tricks with it but of no use. I reset my phone to the original factory setting through (*#7370#) and Multi-finger process but of no help. I even reinstalled the updated version but the problem still persists. My camera worked fine before the update but now it gives the said message and the phone hanges up on pressing the camera button. I request nokia developers to help fix this problem and check their updates for buge before uploading them to the server to save users from problems & worries. If you found any solution for the problem then please let me know it on my E-Mail ID:  I will be grateful for your response.

You told everything about the firmware upgrades and the non-functional camera features.
I did everything [firmware re-installation, hard-reset etc. etc.] to get my camera features back. This includes visiting the authorized Nokia service centre and paying them bucks.
No luck buddy. I may have an ardent brand loyalty to Nokia but Nokia is letting me down every way.
    Any luck buddy?
you should not have had to pay a nokia care point for what ammounts to a warenty repair,
The camera issue with the N96 upgrade is an uncommon but known bug,
If a hard reset, or a firmware reinstall doesn't fix it then take the phone to a nokia care point and have them fix it for free under the warenty

  • N96 new firmware vs. pics for contacts

    Aloha!
I have seen, that more people have same problem as me, but nowhere have I found solution.
After updating my N96 with FW 20.050 I've lost all thumbnails of pictures from my contacts list.
Is it that in new firmware you need to assign pictures to contacts only manualy? Is this a bug?
Will be grateful for any answers.

    picaboodre wrote:
Yeah dude, i had the same problem. Lost all my thumnails after updating. The fullscreen images of my contacts still appear when calling someone, but the contact previews have dissappeared. After trying many methods, i just ended up manually re-assigning them. NO biggie for me really, the firmware works wonderfully for me otherwise
How do you assign them? I mean I also lost all my thumbnails after updating. But I can't see any "Add Thumbnail" option, when I enter "Edit" option in "Contacts". I used to with V12.043.
Could it be that my hard disk is now empty, therefore contains no "images." Does you hard disk have to contain a picture in order for "Add Thumbnail" option to appear in "Edit" in "Contacts"???
    Thanks.

  • N82, new firmware v30, Maps 2.0, SIP, Thailand

I tried the new version of Maps before, but the Thai maps are good for navigation in Bangkok only, opposed to Maps 1.2, which works all over the country. Is anyone out there who successfully used the new firmware with Maps 2.0 here in Thailand? And while we are at it, is the SIP-Client well-behaved? These two applications are the reason why I bought the N82 and I really don't want to loose these features...

    Kamrul,
Don't be so furious. Let me explain you something. The first countries to receive the updates are the europeans ones. Then Nokia modifies the same firmware for the APAC regions. They have to introduce  the language packs in it and make some changes to make it suit the APAC. There are even software which some countries get and some not.
That's why there are product codes. We can have several nokia phones of the same model but they differ in firmware. This has always been like this.
Be a bit patient it will soon arrive in your region. Nokia is working on it.

  • N96 new firmware - When?

Is there a chance we will get soon a working firmware for N96?
    That will solve:
    - Unwanted reboots when using bluetooth connection to Carkit
    - Stuttering on track change in music player
    - WOWs during music playback when CPU under stress
    - Faster TV player startup, as in previuos versions
Please someone at Nokia staff answer!

I am with you, we may be small in numbers but N96 users still require firmware updates.

mine is 0543698. it clearly says that i have upgrades that can be done via website but not through NSU. may be you are right but isn't it weird that operator not allowing something that could be so important. I wanted to do a software upgrade becasue i have problems with my musicplayer as it refreshes all the time. no matter how long you leave it just refreshes and refreshes. doesn't allowing anything to be performed and ends up consuming all the RAM available. I have to restart the phone to solve this and not open musicplayer again. also i tried reinstalling the same software but no help. and this is the second phone first one also had the same problem which i ELF it straight away. if nothing helps i will ELF it again and again untill its fixed.
whats this mean (which i ELF it straight away. if nothing helps i will ELF it again and again untill its )

  • N96 issues upgrading to v30.033

    Hi there,
I have just tried to upgrade the firmware in my Nokia N96-1 (RM-247) from 12.x to 30.033 using NSU on the latest version of PC Suite on a Vista SP2 machine. After NSU completed - apparently successfully - the phone started up and asked for my PIN as per usual, however it continued to load active standby visibly in the background of the PIN entry prompt. I entered it, at which point the phone just started going berserk. There are a couple of applications I have set to load on startup (about three), but as these tried to load, active standby would take over and redisplay. Then the application would try to take back the screen focus, then active standby (rinse and repeat). This happened slowly at first, but eventually it was almost constantly flickering active standby on and off without any button being pressed or stuck down. The phone has become completely unusable - I can't load the menu, make phone calls, or anything. I tried to force exit all applications, but this has made no difference. I tried power cycling the phone (power off only the first time, then I tried removing the battery and SIM card for about 10 seconds), reinstalling the firmware.. all to no avail.
I am now trying to reload my last backup, in the hope it restores version 12.x.
Update: that didn't work either, and I am still having the same problem.
I tried formatting it by TRYING to press call, *, and 3 all at once, then pressing the power button on the phone for one second - but that kind of key combination is almost impossible with this handset design without having a third hand.
This is not the first time this phone has done this sort of thing on a firmware upgrade, and I am dreading taking it back to get it serviced - which will be for the FOURTH TIME in 8 months. This handset has been nothing but trouble from day one, and I am extremely disappointed and frustrated at Nokia's woeful and apparent lack of product testing, firmware testing, and user focus group testing on this product - all of which must have been forgone at Nokia HQ for drinking coffee and playing Wii.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
I might have the solution regarding the issues shehaal facing. In fact,  my n96 was having the same flickering trouble. O.K stright to the point, you got to key in *#7370# (reset) even though it is difficult to key in keep pressing the number(*#7370#) until the the phone switch to password protected section. Key in 12345 the phone will reset (important: you got to key in as fast as possible before the screen starts to flicker). For my case i required to reset twice, the first time nothing happened except  the phone has deleted most of the content in the memory. Nevertheless it is recommended to save all important information before you reset. If you've not done that just do it (don't worry even the phone is flickering you can still save your important information).
The second attempt managed to restore the phone (remember the moment the screen shows "select the country you in" it means your phone are now o.k . The best part is your phone has been upgraded to v30.033 enjoy !!!!

  • N96 v30.033 numbers not working

    hello
im having a problem with my n96 now on v30.33 firmware. this is the second phone that has developed the same fault
it is on vodafone and should be running version 12.xxxx but for totally ovbious reasons i have changed the product code
on both phones the upgrade went ok, but then after a few days the keys have got messed up. number 3,0, 9, red, camera(2ndclick) have just stopped working
this is ovbious a software fault, the 2nd n96 is only 2weeks old.
any ideas (nokia wont accept it as they know i have changed the code as i found out the first time as it shows on there screen the code you used everytime you update via nokia software updater)
thanks alot, this is driving me mad

since you voided your warranty here is the only things i can suggest for you to do short of taking it in and having to pay nokia care to fix your phone
     1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345
    2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)
    3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. )
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
also you can try to reinstall your firmware again and then reformat your phone and see how this goes

  • N96 V30.033 Power Saver Problems

    Hi there,
I've just recently updated my N96 to V30.033 and now the power saver does not seem to work properly.
I have an .swf animation set in the Power Saver options (power save timeout set to 30 secs). After 30 secs when it tries to go into power save, the animation comes up briefly, and then comes out of power save (back to the standby screen. or whatever screen you had open last).
It will just keep doing this in a loop.
It used to work on the last firmware, any ideas?
The only way to stop this is not to use an animation.
    Thanks.

Binx:This is definitly one of the problems comin directly from the firmware, because it used to work for me before as well and now all of a sudden with this **bleep** firmware, we are back to triangle of worst firmwares (V10, V11, V30)............

  • N96 Software v30.033 Battery and Calendar Problems

Earlier this month I upgraded the software on my Nokia N96 to v30.033. Prior to this my battery life was sufficient to get me through an entire day.
Since I upgraded, the battery life has dropped, and now by 5pm I'm down to 4 bars. I have not increased how much I use the phone. I have also checked that all the options for wi-fi, bluetooth and other things that use a lot of power are as they were prior to the update (in case any of them had been reset). I have even gone as far as to replace the battery, thinking that it might just be my original battery wearing out, but none of these have solved the problem.
Has anyone else encountered this and how did you solve it?
The second problem is to do with the calendar. Prior to the update it would display the next 5-6 entires in my calendar, no matter how far in the future they were. Now it will only display 2, and only if they are happening either today or tomorrow. Does anyone know how to change it back to the way it was?
Finally, how do you turn off the bloody annoying "swoosh" noise the phone makes now when you slide it open?

I haven't notices a big change in power consumption, but I am a heavy user and I always have the phoen on charge whrn I'm in the car, so maybe that's why.
The (I agree with you) annoying noise can be shut off as follows:
Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Personalisation>Themes>Audio themes>Phone handling events and then change both opening slide and closing slide to 'silent'.
