N96 persistent SMS blinking alert

Hi folks, first of all sorry about my english, i'm not native
Ok, i got a brand new Nokia N96 few days ago. I've already set it up and everything is working fine, except one thing: I have a permanent SMS blinking icon on the upper-right corner of the screen, next to battery info. That would be normal if I had some unread SMS/MMS, but I have re-checked it many times and there is no such message anywhere (or i'm not able to find it), and the warning is still there since the first power-up. I thought that it could be "My Nokia"'s fault, since that service automatically sends me tips and advices every while via SMS, but I disabled it, and deleted every SMS i got from them too. Anyway, the icon doesn't dissapear, and it's really annoying. Does anybody know how to fix that?
Thanks in advance, nice forum!

Per the Apple web site with 2.1 you can set SMS to alert you more than once when you get a new message. Have not found how to do that. Any ideas???????

It does it automatically. There is no setting to turn it on or off. It's built in.

  • Regarding email & SMS in alert management

How can we send emails & SMS on alert. Do we need to configure anything specially for that?
    Thanks in advance,

You need to install and setup SBO Mailer.
Check SolutionGuide_xxx.pdf in SystemSetup folder of your B1 installation media. Also do a quick search in this forum for additional information on 'SBO Mailer'.

  • Blinking alert

Hi there I have the blinking alert 1.1.1 extension set up on my Mozilla Thunderbird 31 email and it worked great but recently it has stopped blinking when a new message is received. I receive the message alert box but it no longer blinks like it used to. I checked the settings options and the blink time is set at 2 sec as I have always had it set to but I get no blinking when a message is received. I uninstalled blinking alert and then installed it again but still no blinking. Any help sorting this issue out would be greatly received as I can't work out why it has suddenly stopped.
    Regards

  • Looking for app that defines SMS audible alert by number

    Hi all,
I am looking for an app where you can define different SMS audible alert per number.
So the same as incoming call, but then for incoming SMS.

The problem is that the Apple software programming "rules" only let 3rd party apps have very limited access to built-in apps and their data, primarily for security reasons.  I think it's unlikley that Apple would give the necessary access for this type of application.  That being said, it might be worth searching the App Store for an app to do that.
    Gig 'em.

  • SMS & Voicemail Alert - HELP!

I have a BB 8310 and ATT as the service provider. I want to set up my phone to give me an alert when I receive a voicemail messages manual indicates the same alert tone is used for both SMS & voicemail. However, I get an SMS I get an alert but I do not with voicemail.  Why am I not getting it for both? How do I fix it?
I would prefer to separate the alert for SMS and Voicemail with each having a different tone.
I have been searching the internet and found nothing that works. One web site said to upgrade my Blackberry 8310Desktop software to version 6 or higher. The 8310 model can only use 4.5 or lower. Another said to change it under profiles by selecting voicemail, but that is not an option.
I have spent hour and hours and nothing had worked. If anyone has figures out please help!
    Thank you.

    Hi shaokotan,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
If you are not receiving any notifications of new voicemail, I would advise contacting your wireless service provider as voicemail is a carrier controlled service.
Voicemail notifications are received on your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8310 smartphone via SMS and because of this an SMS notification should be received when a voicemail is received. This KB article provides more information. "How to change alerts for new voice mail messages on a BlackBerry smartphone" http://bbry.lv/QxGjvA
    Thanks.

  • Bluetooth connection supresses SMS message alert (...

Sorry if this has been raised before but when Bluetooth connection is active the alert for incoming SMS messages doesn't seem happen.
It's causing my wife so much grief with missed messages that she's not using the integrated Bluetooth kit in her Mini. Can't find any details of compatibility for Minis, but hers has full compatibility with BMWs according to their list.
Also have the same problem when it's connected to my laptop so don't think it's a car problem.
Is this a known problem with a cure, or is it a "feature".
    Thanks.

I do not have a car kit, but isn't the phone is some car kit profile while you connect it to the ´car kit ?
If yes, check the car kit profile from settings/profiles in phone and see if there is a setting that incoming SMS alert is set to silent ? If yes, change it.

  • Persistent warnings and alerts in Snow Leopard

Ever since upgrading from 10.5.8 (via +Migration Assistant+ ), my various email accounts are alternatively showing that little warning triangle, and the account would be offline:
This happens upon launching Mail. It usually goes away after a few subsequent +Get All New Mail+ or when it checks for new messages every X minutes as set in the prefs. The Alert message is sometimes +"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account "blahblah" or try again. The server returned the error: "the connection to host mail.comcast.net on port 110 failed."+
So it seems a bit corrupt. Or unstable.
What's causing this? How can I improve it?

Internet connection is always on. It's Comcast cable. And it happens every time I launch Mail, regardless of waking from sleep, freshly logging in or restarting then logging in.

  • SMS MESSAGING ALERTS

I HAVE THE PALM CENTRO. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT'S BEEN UNLOCKED AND NOW I USE A SUNCOM SIM CARD.  THE PHONE DIALS NUMBERS AND DOES ITS BASIC FUNCTIONS BUT NOT EVERYTHING.  i KEEP GETTING A SIM NOTIFICATION SAYING MY SIM HAS SENT A REQUEST TO THE NETWORK VIA SMS   SENDING SMS........    WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
    Post relates to: None

I'm not sure how suncom marks their sim cards to show they are 3g, usually they just say 3g on them. Your best option is to ask suncom if they are 3g, if they are and you don't have a 3g card that would be your first thing to do. If they are 3g and you already have a 3g card I would see if they could get you a replacement card and see if that is going to resolve the issue. Of course the final thing is that if they are not 3g you can expect some soft of minor problems to occur possibly even including the one you are having now.

  • Recently, when charging iPad, the display blinks, alerts and no charging. I changed cable with no joy. BTW: OS7 upgrade on iPad 2 was fairly benign.

Fixed problem - easy. Also OS7 upgrade on iP2 a snap and nothing too weird. All is well.

  • SMS repeat alert MUST HAVE SETTINGS

I find the second ring to be obnoxious... most of the time when I get a message, I'll look at it on the lock screen and don't respond right away or don't need to respond at all. The second ring just makes me look at the phone again expecting another message. It's good for people who forget they have a text message, but this has been nothing but an obnoxious thorn in my side. Who agrees that Apple should put a switch to turn off repeat alerts if we don't want them?

We are users like you, and can't do anything about it.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Automatic SMS alert - how to cancel?

for some reason, an SMS weather alert got packaged with the new iphone. What gives? I definitely did not choose this service? How do I cancel it?

I would request a new number. When I purchased the first Iphone I was given a business number because I get an employee discount through my company. The last person owed alot of money and owned a florist. I would keep getting calls from credit card companies looking for the last person that owned the phone. Also, I would get people calling for flowers. The last straw was an indiviual called my number at 3 am trying to send flowers to his angry wife. At & T tried to make me pay for a number change. I stated the recycled number is started to cause me anxiety. They waived the fee and changed the number. I suggest you do the same.

  • Alert Parameters to Get Interface Description (i.e. Something Meaningful to Network Admins)

    Hi All,
We have recently deployed OpsMgr 2012 R2 inparallel to our legacy 2007 environment.
For network device monitoring in the 2007 environment we used the xSNMP Management Pack on top-of the native capabilities.
On of the positive aspects of the 2007 set-up was that we were able to leverage the xSNMP Management Packs ability to expose the interface alias/description which our Network admins populate to identify the connection/purpose of an interface within the SMS
    Channel format.
Basically, the Network Admins would give me a list of critical interfaces and using the combination of Path and Alias/Description I would be able to confidently enable interface monitoring and alerting for those interfaces.
In 2012, however, all that has been changed.  Now, interfaces are identified by an Interface Name value that is not really meaningful or relevant to the way our Network Admins work.  Wjat I also find problematic is the way that interfaces seem
to have been divorced from the the source device in such a way that the default email alert format doesn't even include the Path (source device) on which the interface generating the alert is associated with.  This is even the case when trying to create
a custom monitored interfaces State view in that the Path column is populated by the MAC address rather than with the host device that the interface is on which is what really matters.  Who deals in MAC addresses?
What we require is a way to expose the host device and Interface Description and Alias  values as part of an SMS/email alert as that is crucial information that an on-call engineer being woken-up at 2:00 AM needs to know rather than scratching
their head with some guff about IF-20 without even the parent device of that interface given so that they can at least know what device to log-on to manually try and identify which interface connection/service  is down even though they should not have
    to do that.
I have already tried to customize the SMS Channel format from its default format to the following:
    State: $Data[Default='Not Present']/Context/DataItem/ResolutionStateName$ $Data/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityFullName$ $Data/Context/DataItem/AlertName$
using the list of alert parameters from Kevin Holman's blog but even with the $Data/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityFullName parameter the information is not satisfactory.
For all the improvement in SNMP and network monitoring it seems that something that was actually good and useful in 2007 has now been lost because of the way interfaces/ports  have been divorced from the parent Managed Network Node device.
Can anyone advise how I might be able to get sensible interface alerts in my email and SMS notifications that provide the host router/switch Display Name, and the Interface Description and Alias of the Interface?
Points given to all considered replies.
    Kind Regards,
    Michael

Yeah, that's kind of a mess...
You can create a workaround to change the name similar like that:
    http://www.vroege.biz/?p=746
But it needs some authoring knowledge and must run every time after a network discovery. Since this means a class property change it is a performance consuming workflow and should not run top often.

  • How to set an alert for unauthorized ClearPass login

Q: As a network administrator, how do i set alerts for a unauthorized access to ClearPass server (via SMS or Mail) ?
A: A network admin would want to know, if someone unauthorized is trying to access the ClearPass server. The solution below explains, how a SMS/Mail alert can be set on ClearPass server for the same.
Manual to way for a admin to check ClearPass login is via Event Viewer. Here the Alert level is WARN  for a invalid login.
However for an automatic alert, we need to take following steps:
In order to send alerts via Mail, we need to configure SMTP server on ClearPass
        2.  In order to send alerts via SMS we need to configure SMS gateway
      3.   Now once the Mail and SMS config is done, we need to set Alerts. For that we need to navigate to CPPM > Administration > Server Manager > Server Configuration > Cluster-Wide Parameters > Notifications
     4.   Here the system alert level is set to WARN (same for a Invalid login attempt) to capture unauthorized ClearPass login attempts.

    Thank you for the code.
Is it correct to put that code under VALIDATE > run custome validate script, within the Properties box?
Because I tried it, and it worked only AFTER I typed a number onto the field.
Since my goal is to have the alert BEFORE, so if someone typed in a text, they should see the alert and correct themselves to type in a number instead.
    Please clarify.
    Thanks!
