N96 V 30.0.33 Unstable,frequent restarts, lock ups...

Hi all.
Upgraded my firmware using FOTA the day the V30 firmware was released.
Ever since though I have had major issues with my N96. The previous version 20 and version 12 were stable enough and I had minimal issues with them. I have not installed any new apps or software between version 20 and version 30.
Constant random reboots, even when not actually doing anything with the phone. Its just sat on the desk in standby and ... boom restart. Happening at least 4 - 5 times per day. Maybe more.
Phone locking up when navigating menus or attempting to switch between open apps. Resulting in battery off and back in to restart.
SMS received, phone locked up. Battery off reboot. All sms in inbox deleted!
Messaging app locking up on a regular basis, regardless of memory selected.
Battery life appears to have deteriorated. Having to charge morning and night to ensure phone not dead overnight. Once a day on version 20 firmware.
Would be interesting to know if anybody else is having any or similar issues or knows of a fix etc.
Looking at reverting to previous version 20 firmware. If anybody knows how to do this using Vista, then please let me know. I understand its only possible using XP ... Hope this is not the case.

I have right the same problem. V30.033 - frequent unexpected reset.
I got installed the version 30.033 from a Nokia care center, and since then the phone restarts randomly and frequently: when I use the phone, the GPS, the Media Player, or even in stand-by.
I tried everything was suggested in this forum: factory setting, hard reset, deletion of configurations.
I have no external memory card installed.
Nothing works; the phone keeps restarting randomly.
I purchased this phone in October 08 from an operator, and it came with version 10.x. Very poor performance, but the N96 was very stable.
I tried the software update and the update over the air, but no update was possible. I could therefore not experience the version 12 and 20.
To get the phone updated I had to contact the Nokia care center.
Now after firmware update, because any attempt to recover from frequent resets fails, I suspect the reason might be a conflict with some parameters stored somewhere in the phone, and belonging to the operator who sold the phone.
My operator suggests sending him back the phone so that they can reprogram it.
I am reluctant in doing this because they are still on 10.x firmware version.
Maybe Nokia software people might want to check if the V30.033 has something new on it, which might conflict with programming specific to an operator.

Random Restarts and lock ups

Hi all,
I know there's similar threads on this, but i'm experiencing random lock ups and the phone restarting itself at random. It's the "panic.plist" crash several users have complained about. This issue mostly leads to a hardware problem according to the existing threads.
In my case, this happens about once a month, like a handful of times ever since 12/20/2011 (date of activation). If my hardware was shot, wouldn't this happen several times a week? Several times a day?
64 GB iPhone 4S w/ iOS 5.1.1 by the way.

Just an update - ripped the sound card out, rebooted and installed the software for on-board sound - problem solved i can actually talk on vent and the computer boots without errors and hasnt crashed in the past week. Basically was $200 very poorly spent as i cant really be bothered ever putting it back into my system - support told me to download the latest drivers (first thing i did when i found the problem s didnt fix a thing) huge thumbs down for creative - to sum it up - use onboard sound if it works and you want a stable computer.

It sounds like your iPhone is locked because Lost Mode was enabled. You can stop Lost Mode using these steps:
Stop Lost Mode or change your contact info
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud).
If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device that’s in Lost Mode.

Frequent restart of AIRPORT EXTREME necessary for USB printing

My AIRPORT EXTREME needs to be restarted about once every week through the AIRPORT UTILITY software in order to get the connected USB printer (Brother HL-1450) working.
The AIRPORT is powered 24h a day and connects to the internet flawlessly but the printer dissappears from the "bonjour" printer list frequently.
Anyone having an idea?

You may already have everything set up properly...
Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations.
Take a look at one of these iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility links, depending on which AirPort base station you have:
- 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
- 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.

Has anyone faced this problem with auto restart issue with the Macbook AIR (1.8gz i7 Intel).These few days it keeps restarting stating a hardware problem. Yeap, NEXT issue, I read some of the honest comment on the battery life which relates to AIR, ... you can chop my head and sit on mine if the AIR battery lasts more than 3 hours ! it doesn't. I bought it because it is lighter than the Mac Book Pro which I also owned, primarily for traveling. But I never knew it was a technical highlight on a new AIR. Anyway, doesn't matter as I have external cables, as long as it doesn't show the frequent "Your computer requires to restart because of a problem...."

As indicated in the subject, wireless users are finding that it is either unattachable (shows up in the list but fails to attach) or if you manage to authenticate and get in, it's painfully slow or simply drops out. Security is WPA-PSK.   Only noticed the issue after a couple of Windows 8 laptops came into the household, but the problem still seems to be there when they are off so not sure if they are connected in some way or not. Updated to the latest firmware - no change.   Wired connections are fine and when it's initially restarted, so is the wireless, seems to happen sometime after wireless services are restarted. Only the one Wireless SSID, nothing fancy, max users around 5, all on laptops or the odd pad.   I changed channels done narrow wide etc, (using mixed mode - some Wireless N laptops some Wireless B/G.   Nothing seems to make any difference. No log entries until the Wireless system is restarted, doesn't require a reboot of the router, just a SUBMIT of the existing wireless settings to force it to restart.
It seems to be getting worse, any suggestions as to how I should troubleshoot this appreciated, there seems to be no obvious cause.

There is only one other WLAN in range (neighbour). It IS overlapping (I've tried narrow but it seems to make no difference), but it's been there for years, never had an issue from it before. Signal strength is -70dBm v -60dBm for my router, so that could be an issue, however it's odd that it's never been a problem until now.   AFAIK, that router hasn't changed in years (Bigpond - whatever they use now).
Any suggestion welcome, - I can see it seems not to matter if the signal is full strength or not. 3 feet or 30 feet from the router the effect is the same, put it that way.
I'll see if I can relocate the router, it's on the side closest to the neighbour, unfortunately this will be non trivial as the phone line for the DSL only goes into that room (master bedroom).
As you can see, they are on Ch 6, slap in the middle of the band, I've now moved to 11 +13 but at present I can't 'see' my WLAN at all, may need to reset the router as submit restarted it fine according to the router, but the laptop which is on a wired lan, can't 'see' my own WLAN at the moment, but it 'sees' the neighbour's just fine.   As you can see, the neighbour is slap in the middle of the blasted band, (default for the modem/router probably). I'll try narrow again or try restricting us to G instead of N, but it's clearly not an optimum solution even if that works.
I'll try a reboot of the router and see what happens.

Frequent restarts due to kernel panic crashes, late 2012 mac mini, paceapp kext?

Every time I start my (refurbished 6,2) mac mini after it's been off for a while (typically overnight), it restarts immediately during startup and I get the "your computer has restarted because of a problem" error message. I can restart it without problems at that point, it all works as designed. Until I leave it for several hours again, then I get the restart problem.
I'm concerned it has to do with the com.paceap.kext.pacesupport.snowleopard 5.9.1 kext, which clearly isn't designed for Mountain Lion... Or is it to do with the 16 GB of RAM I installed? I checked the RAM with rember, came back clean. Can anyone help me with this?

If the RAM was added after you bought the computer, have you tried reverting to the chips that were in the computer when you first bought it? From one reliable source the chip nomenclature is as follows:

There may be a software you've installed that could cause a kernel panic.
Sometimes the RAM specs of products installed are similar but not correct in an upgrade, or in rare instances there may be a defect. I could not tell from the report information you posted above if the matter was related to RAM, however.

Was there some other change you'd made to the computer, on or about the time this symptom started? Any third-party software you'd installed at a time the issue started should be seriously looked into and if needed, use their uninstaller to be rid of it.
You should detach or unplug external devices not necessary in the troubleshooting of the Mini, then proceed to see if the report or condition changes. Could be a defective peripheral and not an internal component. Also, if you can't get past this matter, you may have to see about getting an appointment with a Genius or product specialist at an Apple Store, or authorized reseller with factory trained service staff.

BT Home Hub 3 Needs Frequent Restarting

For the last couple of weeks I have had to restart my BT Home Hub 3 every few hours in order for my various wireless devices to share data.
None of the devices ever loses its connection to the Internet. I can continue to use each device for web access, for example. But none of the devices can see one another.
I have to restart the hub before any of my computers can access my wireless printer, for example.
After restarting the hub, the devices can all see one another again immediately until the problem reoccurs for some reason.
Does anyone know what might be causing this problem and how I can fix it?

you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
you can also try changing the hub wireless from b/g/n to just b/g and see if that helps
are all the wireless drivers up to date 0 check manufacturers website and not windows update

Nokia N9- frequent restarts

I have a nokia n9. Often restarts. What could be due to the frequentrestarts? The phone is new. Since the operator Orange Poland.

Server Frequently Restarting after upgrade

Hi
We are trying to Upgrade win 2003 server to win 2008 both are enterprise editions, Every thing going correctly but at the end of the install server restarts again and again, i tried with win 2003 SP1, and then tried with win 2003 SP2 but again and again
it is restarting, Can anybody explain me steps to upgrade it.

Could you confirm your hardware support the 2008 platform, it seems it is you hard ware issue, could you update all your firmware then try the upgrade again?

My new IMAC suddenly slow and freezing requiring frequent restarting

has anybody had this ? IMAC bought in Oct 2012, worked great for a while, now everything makes it freeze and require restart. Help ?

Just to add...
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
