N96 v30 firmware restarts/reboots randomly

Hi.
I updated OTA to the new v30 firmware for my N96 (EURO1).
Now, the phone restarts 3 or 4 times a day, usually when I'm not even touching it (i.e. it's sat on my desk at work and it'll just turn off and then back on again.
It doesn't ask for a PIN / lock code when it powers back up either which it always does when I switch the thing off and on manually.
I've tried the hard reset and reinstall options but to no avail
Anyone got any suggestions (other than throwing it in the river?!)?
Rich.

If you have tried the multi finger reset and a firmware reinstall via NSU to no avail then you have problems
The behaviour you describe is not typical of an N96 with v30 and suggests a deeper problem
If you have a memory card installed remove it and see if the behaviour persists
If it does then look at your installed apps and try removing some of these
Otherwise a Nokia Care point for a warenty repair maybe your best bet

  • Maps 3.0, N96, v30 Firmware, device reboots

Just upgraded to Maps R3 having had no issues with the beta versions, and having driven it hard (Pun intended).
Now, when using GPS navigation, the device reboots itself with no warning and no identifiable cause, except that I am using the GPS navigation features. usually it reboots after about 20-30 minutes of using navigation.
    Any thoughts?
Device is an N96, V30 f/w, and I've checked for Maps updates recently. I'm using the UK maps, but also have France and US maps loaded as well (as I have planned trips).

i have this same problem. happens in maps, google maps, and garmin.
never had this problem on previous firmwares, and this one has added nothing to the phones feature set or usability. its just created problems. it crashed twice in the 4 months i had it before this firmware update, now its crashing 2-3 times A DAY, gps or no gps.
ive formatted the phone and memory card, reinstalled the firmware using NSU and then tested it with just google maps installed on the phone, same problem.
frankly im furious nokia can put out such a buggy firmware update that changes nothing of any use and causes crashes like this. they better sort it soon.
the bluetooth connection with my PC is also broken since this firmware. crashes explorer everytime i try ot access the phone, even using the nokia suite. again, never had this problem before.
Have you installed applications in your phone? If yes, maybe this cause the crashes.Uninstall all your apps, and do a reset.
Factory settings reset. In standby, dial *#7780# and the phone's security code (the nokia's default security code is 12345). This reset restores phone's original settings.
Soft reset. In standby dial *#7370# and the phone's security code (the Nokia's default security code is 12345). Soft reset deletes ALL your phone's data.

  • RV042 rebooting randomly

I installed an RV042 on my network two months ago. It's been working fine until yesterday. It's configured Dual WAN, connected to Comcast cable and AT&T DSL with load balancing turned on. Like I said, until yesterday - everything has been perfect.
Today, the router has started rebooting randomly. All the lights except for Power and Diag go out, and the router resets. The network, of course, has crashed by this point.
In the system log, there is no error message. Just suddenly "System is up!" followed by the cable dhcp connection and the pppoe connect spam. Odd thing is, the DATE is wrong at that point. It shows Dec 31 2002 19:00 as the timestamp, every time it crashes.
This is a relatively new router, it's sitting out on a desk with lots of air space all around it, and it doesn't feel hot to the touch at all. It's plugged in to a battery backup. The router has the latest firmware.
What should I do now? This is ugly, when it happens. Overnight last night, it rebooted four times.

This should be shared a shared topic iPhone&iPad
iPad4, iOS 7.0.2. Reboots occur once or twice a day when leaving AppSwitcher (either by home button or by choosing an app).
So it works now like android device (yes, offend intended)...

  • BlackBerry Curve 9350 rebooting randomly

We have several BB Curve 9350, OS 7.1 that keep rebooting randomly. They are under Sprint.
They use a custom application that requires the user to login, and beacuse of the rebooting they have to login multiple times and restart their work as many times.
Please, is there a known problem with this device?
Is there a way I can determine if the application is causing the rebooting?

    Hello Jltssysb,
I would suggest to do a clean reload of the BlackBerry® device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320, please test before restoring any data to the device.
If this resolves the issue do a selective restore of essential data (Address Book, Calendar, Task, Memos, BBM contacts etc.)

If the issue still persists after the reload, further investigation might be required. To help further diagnose the cause, contact your wireless service provider or BlackBerry® Technical Support Services for further review and support.
    Thank you

  • N96 v30.033 problem

My n96 v30.033 have some problems witch is: when recive sms my phone restarted i formated with *#7370# and problem exists again i reinstalled software and again problem is in the phone
i thing the n96 v31.xxx fix this problem and set to n96 any screensawer like n86

Hard format procedure is here. For that, backup your mobile's contacts, messages, notes, calender and bookmarks via Nokia PC Suite backup utility. Don't backup anything else like settings or user files etc. Now backup your images, videos and music files using Windows Explorer. Now format your memory card and switch off your mobile. Now press and hold this 3 key "green call key, * and 3" together and switch on your mobile. Press and hold down that 3 button till country insertion dialogue appear. Now restore all your backup using PC Suite and explorer. This will solve your problem. If problem still causing then go to nearest Nokia Service Center and give them your mobile for repairing.

Hi I need help My 2010 unibody Macbook Pro is driving me nutz !!! Does anyone have any idea WHAT would cause my 2010 Macbook Pro to shut off and reboot randomly all by itself ? I took it to a computer storre for repair they placed the RAM and charged me 126.00 yet its still happening not as frequently but it's not fixed. Grateful for any help you can give.

    Hello sweetbrandigirl2004,
Based on your post it seems your computer is shutting down at random. That does sound troublesome. After your computer shuts down, do you see any messages or errors displayed? The following article offers some troubleshooting steps you may want to explore:

  • OS X 10.9.2 on Mac Mini 2012 reboots randomly

Hi everybody, I have a Mac Mini 2012 2.3ghz model. I bought with Mountain Lion and everything was very very good. I updated to Mavericks from ML and, a little bit slow, but, I knew it, I needed update since zero. So, I did it, and, since that day, I have a lot of reboots randomly. One day, I had as 4 or 5 reboots in 2 or 3 hours. I mean, ***!!!. Sometimes that passed when I close Safari with a lot of tabs. Sometimes when I eject an USB or HDD. It's so randomly.
I've done repair permissions and pass it Ccleaner. The Mac is still rebooting. I have the last report. I hope you can help me. Thank you very much!.

  • Fourth generation iPad keeps restarting itself randomly

My brand new fourth generation iPad (Wi-Fi+Cellular, 32 GB) keeps restarting itself randomly. I did the iTunes restoring procedure 2 times, the second one I also delete completely everything from the device before, in order to install the iOS 6.1 on a surely "new" device. I also avoided the iCloud synchronization and just download a casual app in order to test the problem. The iPad restarts again and again. Any suggestion? Anyone had the same problem here? Please share your experience.
Tomorrow I'll have an appointment with the Genius Bar. Hope it would be useful.

TY Mark, hope they would really help me and not just give me a factory refurbished unit.
I paid full price for a new one so i should get a new one. I am an apple fan and expect excellent service, not jokes.
Anyone knows something about the causes of this behaviour?

I stand corrected. The code is still not deferred. I am still curios to find out why. The reason i am asking that is most likely you are hitting a bug which. The bug fix will be on different code and if you are upgrading then might as well upgrade to a more recent code train.

  • MB Pro Restarts/Reboots by itself - is this hardware or software related??

I've replied to a number of posts regarding this topic here but no one seems to have answered this question sufficiently.
My MB pro will just restart itself randomly. It usually happens when I'm not doing anything which makes me think it might be due to some process that happens when the computer is managing power (sleep settings, etc). I've tried changing all my energy settings as well as resetting SMC, pRam, etc. but nothing seems to work.
I'm thinking about doing a clean OS install if this is some software related issue so any input is appreciated!

I've the same problem after the mainboard has been changed two weeks ago. There are no signs or error messages. The MB restarts randomly during screen save.
Last restart time was today, 13:13 (1:13 pm). See enclosed extract of the system.log.
    Any idea?

  • I don't want Microsoft Word to automatically launch when I restart/reboot

    Hi All,
Microsoft Word application automatically launches when I restart/reboot the iMac. How can I fix this?
    Smells like a virus...

    Hi ctconnor;
Since there are no virus for OS X, I seriously doubt that is what is causing your problem here.
My suggestion open System Preferences then Accounts followed by Login Items. Once there deselect Microsnot Word.
    Allan
