N96 voice tags problem

Afternoon all
Just upgraded from an N95 to an N96 and I have a problem.
With the N95, all the contacts in my list had a voice tag automatically assigned to them, so all I had to do was hit the button, wait for the bleep, and say the name. This was great for use with my parrot handsfree kit in my car.
With the N96, the contacts have not had any voice tags assigned as they should, so I can't use it to voice dial which really is annoying me as I can't voice dial from my car kit either.
Any ideas as to how I can sort this??

Just thought I would let you know you're not on your own with this problem. I can use voice dialling to dial contacts by pressing and holding the right softkey, but when I try to use my car kit, it brings up the speech recognition progress box but won't recognise anything I say. Kinda pointless having hands free dialling if it doesn't work when you need it most! ;-)

  • N95 Problem with voice tag volume

When playing a voice tag the volume is so quiet it cannot really be heard. The automatically synthesised voice recognition is so poor and even worse company names like Eyeplan or EPS are unreconisable! How can the volume be increased so at least I might then be able to mimic the voice synthesiser?
Of course when used on the move, handsfree without adequate voice recognition commands or volume control this product has a serious flaw for any business user.
I hope someone has a fix for this and soon. Can anyone offer me any advice other than to return it for a refund?

I suspected a firmware upgrade might be the only possible solution to this voice tag volume problem. Quite a shame really. For the life of me I cannot understand why the volume is not adjustable since just about everything else is.
This is a big problem for people without hearing problems let alone all those with one.
Can anyone suggest how I should encourage Nokia to address this issue and produce a firmware upgrade?
As I see it the only alternative appears to be to return the product for a refund. I would caution anyone needing to use voice tags for hands free operation to be aware of this issue before making a purchasing decision.

  • N96 Small voice activation problem

    Hi all
    N 96 with latest firmware
Is it possible to only have voice activation for dailing and not for applications?
I changed the voice tag on contacts to phone book but it still opens with contacts. When I check the readback for contacts it says phone book, Is this a bug
    Thanks
    pve
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I guess I spoke too soon. I seem to remember doing this some time in the past maybe with the N91, but seems like it can't be done in the N96,  I apoligize for the incorrect information.

  • N70 voice tag issue

I have the version 5.0609.2.0.1 01-03-06 which appears to have one problem: it messes up the voice tags. Every new contact I save does not get a voice tag anymore. Do you know how this can be fixed?
    Cheers,

If you feel that this is a major issue then reinstall firmware. But before that hard reset your phone by
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.( Just in case of N78 it will be the multimedia key the small silver key on right side & for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up).
    3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button to switch on the phone.
    4. Release the buttons when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
But keep a backup as you may lose your data. I dont know whether this trick actually works on N70.
Mark my posts as helpful if anyone finds it! After all you will make us improve.
Thanks for kudos if you give!

  • No voice tags after sync with PC Suite to N70

    Hi,
I am having a problem with losing voice tags on my N70, after reading many postings and trying various solutions such as setting default number and nicknames, reset phone etc etc, I managed to get voice tags (pacman next to number) working by using format *#7370# but when I then sync using Nokia PC suite 6.70.22 via Bluetooth from Outlook 2003 on XP pro (SP1) corp build, all contacts added during and post sync do not have a voice tag generated?
I do not think this is a hardware issue as all connections work fine, also do not think this is an issue with PC Suite as it resides on computer, I have also tried this on a machine with all the latest updates installed running Media Centre 2005 and Nokia PC suite 6.70.22, I get exactly the same result when syncing via Bluetooth or USB!!
For obvious reasons I would like to be able to sync contacts and calendar and be able to keep the use of voice tags!!
Is this a known bug and will later firmware resolve, is anyone else experiencing same or resolved this issue.
By the way am running firmware *#0000#
    v 2.0539.1.2 19-10-05 RM-84
    Cheers, Baldrig

Ok, I am assuming that either pc suite is so buggy that no one has had a chance to emulate this or that no one has this issue other than me and everyone is synchronising their outlook contacts with their N70 and are still able to us voice Tags?
If anyone is experiencing this issue can they please let me know I am not the only person having this problem or preferably if anyone knows a fix please let me know so I can either ignore and forget ever using voice tags or allow me to use what would be a really useful feature?
I am beginning to think this may be like a Microsoft built in feature
    Cheers, B

  • E50 voice tags are not cteated

    Hello all
I've got Nokia E50 and 360 contacts. My contacts name are written in Russian. When I copy the contacts from the memory card the first 100 contacts the voice tags are created only for first 100 numbers.
I've installed the latest firmaware 07.36.0.0 - the same result. My friend has got the same phone and he reported no problem with voice tags. He has more than 100 contact and everyone has voice tags. We copied MY CONTACTS to HIS PHONE and HIS CONTACTS to my one. His contacts in my phone have voice tags, but my contacts in his phone - no.
We analized our contacts and found the only difference - my contact's names are stored in russian, but his - in english. I converted all my contacts in english and now all my contacts have voice tags.
But I want russian names! Why 100 russian contacts have voice tags, but other don't have?
did anybody see smth like this?

    Thanks Mohjo,
    Your reply is much appreciated.
I did do several searches but not for SIND or N series phones. didn't know it was called that.
Anyhow, I understand what it does but still think its rubish
What was wrong with the old 'record your own voice tag' system?
OWI!, Nokia!, NO!. If it ant' broke, don't fix it!.
I now the the task of going through all my contacts to check if the voice tag the phone wants to use is ANYTHING like the one I want to use.
It's taken the edge of showing off my new phone to me mates and saying look what mine does. And yes I am shallow.
And its only costing me £20 a month.

  • 6280 voice tags

Is there any way to override the automatic voice tags on the 6280. Nokia's crazy idea of generating them automatically does not work, and the whole concept is nothing short of dangerous in a handsfree-equipped car.
I want to record my own voice tags, and not have to try to guess how Nokia's view of the world sounds.
Martin (who now wishes he'd bought a Sony)

Unfortunately there is no way to override them with your own tags. I am having similar problems with the N80. What you could try is to switch the language of the voice playback from Settings > Phone > Language settings and voice playback language. Choose another language. See if it helps in any way.

  • Some voice tags fail on e90 FW 210.34.75

    Hello, everybody.
After upgrade to FW 210.34.75 some voice tags on my address book disappeared. Some contacts can be found by voice, and some -- not anymore.
I reinstalled FW again, removed voice adapts, restored factory settings, on clean phone, without memory card, I imported address book from CSV file through PC Suite -- the same picture: I cannot voice dial the some of contacts, I dialed before.
It looks that the problem is in the FW itself.
I have 532 contacts in my address book.
When I enter new contact into NEW address book, after factory reset, the voice tags (talking face in the address form) are appearing on the contacts, but if I restore or import my address book -- the same situation. About the half of addresses lost voice tags (the talking faces) and are not recognized by VD.
Maybe, there are some limitations on the VD for E90?
    Could you please help me?
    Regards,
    Myk.

If you can't get the upgrade through Nokia's website, try to walk into the nearest Nokia Care Centre and insist to have this device upgraded to the latest FW version in order to use the A-GPS features. This feature for the E90 is actually shown on Nokia's website if you search for A-GPS enabled devises. It took me some 15 minutes to convince the technical staff at Nokia Care Centre since they did not know their own website and products availability. It took them one phone call with Nokia's head office in Australia and subsequently another ten minutes to upgrade my phone. That means, the upgrade was available but not made accessible for the general public. Try your luck, this upgrade will greatly improve the GPS fix which took a couple of minutes in the past. Now I get a fix within seconds. I cannot, however, comment about any other improvements or bugs since I did not experience any so far.

  • 6300 - how do i turn off voice tags - SO ANNOYING

Now i've got my new Nokia 6300, (of which i must say is NOWHERE near as good as the 6230i & REALLY regret buying this phone).
Anyway, does anyone know how to turn off the voice tags when connected to a bluetooth headset?

You guys must have a very different 6300 than I do. Although it is not perfect in every way, I simply love mine. I find it to be incredibly refined with very few flaws. Of course I am running the latest version of the firmware (v.5.5) and mine is unbranded. I think that might make a difference, especially if you are running an early buggy firmware version. Also, I don't use the voice dialing function at all so I can't comment on that. It is true that many people have reported problems with that function, however, I haven't had any need to turn it off or deactivate it.
Of course it would be better if the phone had more internal memory but I haven't found that to be much of a problem since one can expand the memory up to 2 gigs with micro SD cards. The 6230i's expandability I believe is limited to 512 meg if I recall correctly and its screen is pretty bad to put it mildly. Anyway, I simply store and move most apps and everything else I can over to the card memory, thereby freeing up as much internal phone memory as possible which leaves me with over 3 megs free internal phone memory. Hasn't caused me any inconvenience yet, although I imagine if I tried to transfer a file larger than 3 megs via bluetooth to the phone, that might not be possible. I don't see that as being a major problem though.
There are so many things that are new, different and BETTER on this phone compared to older phones (even the 6233 which is not that old), that I really love. For example, the fabulous display that displays 16 million colors and about 14 lines of very sharp text in Opera Mini, and that doesn't turn off too quickly and can be read when the back light is off; the cool flashing notification lights that alert you to unread messages, missed calls, voice mails, unviewed reminders, etc; the way the radio auto tunes itself to available stations; the ability to have flashlite animated wallpaper and screensavers which allows for the display of some great stuff, for example, a variety of nice large animated clock wallpapers (available for free download from the web); the way almost every menu and function is so much more refined than on previous phones; the solid stainless steel case and slim form factor; the overall great build quality (except for the rattling power on switch, which is a very minor issue); the standard mini USB connector, (instead of the horrible proprietary pop port); and I'm sure I could think of more things but these are just some of the things that occur to me quickly.
Try browsing the web with Opera Mini 4 beta 3 on the 6300. It is just amazing what that little screen can do.
    Currently using 6300 & 6233 (backup)

  • N95 will crash when using voice tags with HS-4W

When I try and use my Nokia Bluetooth Head Set HS-4W to access voice tags it always resets!
    Anybody else got this problem?

I finaly got it to work by resetting the headset.
No problem whatsoever with voice dialing.
    I have firmware V30.0.15
Do you have the problem when using voice tags on the phone alone?

  • Voice dialling problem in N97

Among myriads of problems with my N97 the freshest one is really annoying. As you know, N97 is supposed to automatically tag all the contacts with a voice tag allowing them to be dialled by voice. The contact which I use the most has lost its voice tag. It can't be dialled in this way and when I choose Options>voice tag details it says that "There are no voice tag details for this contact". I've tried everything: erasing this contact and entering it from scratch, restoring all contacts from the copy and with no results.
What's more, I've noticed that any new contact I enter also lacks its voice tag.
I wonder if any of you has ever met such a problem and perhaps someone knows a way to solve it.

Same issue here. Nokia N97 mini with latest firmware. 959 contacts.

  • E65 voice dialing problem

I realized that not all the contacts has a voice tag. Is this normal?

    Dear François,
We should shout all together : ANY BODY FROM NOKIA THERE!!!
I had this problem once again after having discussed with you. I am in Turkey. I experienced the problem completely the same as you described in your post both with English and Turkish languages on the phone.
I think this is a problem of comptability of any of the following combinations; Phone Software / PC suite / Windows Vista / and, maybe, the silly Toshiba bluetooth stack I am bedly experiencing since I have changed my laptop for about 15 days ago. Before, it was a heaven with XP + Vidcomm bluetooth drivers.
I will try to describe my environment parameters and what happens when, just expecting that somebody from Nokia may read and bring a solution to this problem as soon as possible.
The voice dialing is dieing when you synchronize is with PC suite and try to reach text messages and calender on the phone through PC suite. The way I found to solve the problem is to turn off the synthesiser. Swicth the phone off and then swicth it on again and finally turn the synthisiser on. Here you are. It works and also with contacts. This feature is very important for me because I use this feature with my car kit since a while and I was really happy until I had this problem. It was a big comfort.
My environment, if anybody from Nokia will be interested in:
I synchronize my E65 with one Vista laptop, one XP laptop, one car kit (Parrot CK 3000) and one GPS device.
    E65 software version is 3.0633.69.00 06.02.2008 RM208
PC suite versions I keep using 6.86.9.0 and 6.86.9.3.tur
NOKIA PLEASE BRING A SOLUTION TO THAT PROBLEM !!!!!
    BR

  • 6220 Classic - no voice tag saved for this contact...

I have just got my 6220 Classic and I am having a problem with the voice tags. When I try to use voice dialling, it never brings contacts up as an option, just no match found. When I go into the contacts and select voice tag details, I get the message "No voice tag saved for this contact". Voice tags are supposed to be automatically generated for contacts, but this doesn't seem to be happening and there is no way to record a voice tag.
    Any suggestions?

All the contacts are in the phone memory and the contact list is only displaying the phone memory, but still the contacts aren't working. Any ideas? All the contacts were imported from Outlook, but even when I create a new contact in the phone memory, it still doesn't work.
