N96 Zoom in problem

Hello,
I can't seem to be able to zoom in a photo after I have taken it. I am sure I could zoom in with my N95...Am I missing something?

zooming in on the N96 is poor no matter what you say. Most of the time when i zoom in on a taken picture it takes more then 20 seconds to get it sharp. in some zoom levels he doesnt become sharp at all. then you need to quit the app and try it again.
The picture scrolling while zoomed in is terrible also. its made to fade to its new possition when scrolling. but instead most of the time it just skips right to that spot, other times he scrolls terribly slow. This are bugs in the software. that nokia is to lazy to do something about it.
Its like making a phone and dont care to perfect it!
Still hoping some day the n96 actually works!

N96 multimedia menu problem. Please help.

I have a N96. The problem is that once i open the main menu and then i press the close button, (the button on the right) it opens the multimedia menu. If i then press the close button to close that, it close the multimedia menu but if i press it again it does the same again, kind of in a loop. If i press the left options button this now takes me back each step of the menu depending where i was. I've found that if once i've opened the main menu and gone further into any other menu, if i press and hold the options button down and the press the exit button once, then it will go back to the previous menu as it should. However, once i let go of the options button the mutimedia menu opens again. Also if i haven't got the key lock on, the main screen light stays on. If i lock the keys the screen does go darker but you can see the message flashing up on the screen as if i'm pressing a key. I've tried everything i can think of to sort this, factory reset and hard reset, also checked to see if the buttons are stuck down but they are not. nothing makes a difference. I had this problem once before, but after a few months one day it just worked normal again. Also i've just had the phone back a week from nokia repair as they repaired it after it suffered white screen of death after a recent upgrade i tried. all firmware and such is up to date.
Please can somebody help, i really feel like throwing it through a window. Any help would be very helpful.

I got the same problem on N95 8GB, after firmwareupdate and format massmemory, got new pc-suiit, and all.
(but no c++ error, When i start up Map Loader it says "Waiting for Device". The USB mode on my phone is "Pc Suit", i have winxp pro)
Then i remember from the update a half year ago, i need to "start and close" maps on my phone one's first, after that all work fine.

SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

Hi Everyone,
If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation. I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened. I then save the file as a PDF. In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on. Great.. hmm not quite.
The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct? After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted. The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image. Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF? Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something? Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign? I think I have tried about every possible export combination. When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens. All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable. Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work. I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page. When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom. Please see images. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents. The panel was blank. I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.

I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign. I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start. While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on. Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign. One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc. So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF. If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready. Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.

N96 Photo Gallery Problems @ V20 Firmware Update

After updating my 96 to v20 i'm found broken icons/thumbnails in my gallery rather than the original pictures that we're there before the update. When i tried to delete i got an error message, the files didnt delete and remained on the phone so i was left with a gallery fully of nothing but broken icons/thumbnails. I tried back up restore from the back up file created on the sd card rom file manager but to no avail the problem remained the same.
Some thoughts we're juggling and i decided to do the thre finger reset which took the phone completely back to as it was out've the box and start from scratch restablishing the phone. After all all my main stuff, my music, was on the sd card so removed the card and done the 3 finger reset.
The phone was restablished, running fine etc sd card inserted and off i went with a totally clean, error free phone...oh and immediately done a file manager back up to over write the old one. Yes i'd lost some pictures but hey the fleets of useless unmanagable borken icons had gone so felt i'd removed the corruption/erros off the phone.
Sadly not. Now when i then took pictures all is ok on taking the piccy and viewing immediately but when i returned to the gallery 5 mins later i found all the newly taken pics are also broken icons/thumbnails. File manager back up restore was carried out and the broken icons etc vanished but after that when i took pictures they quickly turned into broken icons in the gallery area. Once again sd card was removed and 3 finger reset done.
Now when i take pictures they are not even showing as captured in the gallery however are showing in the file manager.
Anyone else having such problems since V20 update ?? Anyone have any suggestions or managed to resolve this one ??
In addition to this i've noticed that some of my podcasts cannot no longer seen by music player however can be seen through file manager. I'll explain the podcast problem in another posting when i get chance.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "broken links", but since installing the v20 firmware, i have frozen or blank entries in some parts of my multimedia menu.
The 'last captured' entry in the 'photos' tab says "no images or video" and displays no image. This does not change when I take photos. The 'captured' entry also displays no image but accurately states and updates the number of photos in the gallery.
In a stranger twist, the 'now playing' entry in the 'music' tab now permanently displays the name and image of the last song I was playing before the firmware upgrade.
Contrary to these problems, the 'last viewed' entry in the 'video' tab accurately updates itself when I watch videos.
This is the first instance i've discovered of someone with a similar problem and so far no solution. I'm sure we're not alone. I imagine it's just some little fault in the firmware (God knows it wouldn't be the first in the N96's history) but what are the odds of Nokia distributing a fix?
Come on Nokia? How 'bout it? Anyone else got the same problem or even a fix?

N96 Music Library Problems

Hi Guys n Gals
Have a problem with my music library it won't refresh. the refresh bar will come up but it doesn't update and doesn't finish I have to manually stop it.
I have cleared the majority of my music on the phone all bar the preinstalled stuff and a few downloads from the music store (no more than 15)
I had a look on the board for people with the same problem and I tried the deletion of the 3 "private folder" files then perform a refresh. My problem is that I started the refresh 12 hours ago - AND ITS STILL GOING!!!
I'm thinking of taking a full backup of my phone via pc suite performing a reinstall of the latest firmware restoring the files and hoping for the best!
Anyone got any solutions that do involve sending it for repair I've already had it away before for numerous other things and don't wanna part with if again if I can resolve it myself.

When I said a long time, I meant like 10 minutes!
I was going to suggest that maybe it was too many files in a single folder - used to be something that caused similar problems - however, if you've deleted all the music, that obviously can't be it.
Have you tried a factory reset? There's a menu option under something like Tools .. Settings .. General or there are the *# numbers or the 3 finger salute.

N96 photo gallery problem

This week I upgraded my N96 to the latest firmware (20.050). After the install I had a problem viewing any of my photos and even the Photo menu was empty. So I backed up my mass memory and formatted it. After I restored the backup, my photos and videos appeared twice in the photo gallery. Can someone help me to solve this?

I got a simmilar problem after v30.033.281.4 update, i hope you can help me solve another gallery issue. I cannot acces my photos from gallery although all other items (like videos, music tracks, etc) seem working fine. It all started happening after i upgraded fw of my N96 to 30.033 yesterday. I already tried soft and hard reset as well as formatting mass memory and 3-finger re-boot. Ever re-installing fw did not help. I'm running out of ideas. Any clues?

N96 strange display problem plz help

my N96's display is not working a white thick line is coming at the right side of the screen and other screen area is black + fizzy , i had "camera feature not supported problem " with my N96 from two days till display also got problem,, i was running APP UPDATE for nokia from mobile and then after restart lcd blank i have also
replaced lcd and strip + display IC's

This is a known (and very annoying) bug with the N96.
Hopefully they will fix it in the next software update. The exact date of this update is unknown but shouldn't be too far away.
It is also unknown if this update will actually fix the problem or not.
You should complain to nokia using the "contact us" link near the top of the page. The more people that complain the more likely they are to fix it.

Scroll movieclip on zoom area problem

I have a script which scrolls a larger image using the
scrollrect function. when you click on the left mouse button the
image is enlarged or zoomed into. but it loses the position that
you originally clicked on. i guess i have to update the x and y
coordinates at the same time as i alter the xscale and yscale but i
m having trouble with the calculation. can anyone help me with

Problem solved
I just had to rearrange the order of the captions, and now
it's ok. I kept basically the same order as it was when the problem
occured: slide, mouse layer, zoom area and captions.

HTML5 Zoom Feature Problem on Safari iOS iDevices?

I am building my own website in HTML5. If you have an iPhone (I use a 4S) you can check it out here: http://bigapplephototours.com/html5/
When the website is first loaded up in portrait mode, the website fits nice and neat within the iPhones dimensions (if small). When you turn the iPhone to landscape mode, the website fills in this space nicely too.
The problem happens when you turn the iPhone back into portrait mode. Using Safari, the website automatically zooms in and you can't see most of of the website. When you turn the phone, yet again, to landscape mode, the website stays in zoom mode. I don't want this.
I only want the zooming feature in Safari to work when the screen is tapped. Check out http://www.apple.com and http://www.neonsky.com. These are two websites, when viewed with Safari on the iPhone, that stay unzoomed.
Can someone please provide me with the correct HTML5 code that will fix this problem? So far, my google searches have yielded several other people with the same coding problem. Every fix I have tried has not worked. Please, if you know how to fix this problem, would you please give me a detailed coding fix?

N96 video ringtone problem

I bougth the n95 yesterday and I already did the 11.0 update. There is a problem with the ringtones though. If I set a video ringtone in my general profile and someone from my contacts call me, it rings with the default ringtone and does not used the one I set. Anyone else experiences this?

WORKING VIDEO RINGTONE:
I managed to get video ringtones working by encoding to mp4 and making sure the resolution was small enough to fit the normal vertical screen size...
(btw the video i used was: MPEG4, 8.14 MB, 240x160, 15fps, AAC 64bit)
Though the only problem is it only runs for about 10 seconds or so ...
Il update if this is fixed ....

N96 life timer problem

Well i heard from a couple of my friends whos using N96 that life timer dsnt work properly. he was in a cal for 15 mins, aftawrds when v try the 92702689 code the phone says that he has used the phone for 15 hours. And d same thng hapnd with sum otr ppl too. Has any one come across this problem?

N96 mass storage problem

Hi my friends
I have nokia n96 (RM-247) not branded and I experienced some problems after I install the new firmware 30.033. When I connect the phone in mass storage mode I am receiving the following message: Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6f7c 75b6bf7c with options Cancel, Try Again, Continue. I tried all of them but after few seconds the message appears again. I tried this on several computers all of them using windows xp, still the same. When I connect the phone in PC Suite then everything is OK. Any solutions??? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like something has messed up somewhere and created a memory problem
Try taking your memory card out then connecting in mass storage, does the problem persist,
If it does then try the reset factory settings, and see if that helps,
If that doesn't work then go for a format of the mass memory followed by a
hard reset (remember to back up all of your data first)
To format the mass memory, tools, file manager ,E:Mass Memory, options, format
To hard reset.
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button for a second to switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
It may take a few attempts and very flexible fingers.

N96 Camera Button Problem...

ok so i have this N96 very good phone but the camera button dosent works for Taking Pictures
let me explain : when i press a little the camera button it should do this Focus and make the corners red or green and then i need to press a little harder to take a picture... but the first part with the focus dosent works and if it dosent make focus it wont take picture so it like the focus button is boken?
and i know for sure that the camera button is not broken becuse its works fine with the Video Recorder/camcorder watever anyway i need help!! plz!!!! can someone help me? oh and today when i was updating my firmware to 12.43 my computer showed N96 disconnected via USB cable and the update program stopped and said to reconnect the device and press continue... so i did that and its finished updating maybe while the update somthing goed wrong and this is one why the focus button dosent works? should i try to refirmware it? u know like update it again?

The Latest version of the N96 firmware is v30, but you will have to wait for your opperator to allow Nokia to release it to there handsets before it becomes available to you

N96 movie licence problem

I have a Nokia n96.todya i restore my device but after i did that my Transformers movie is locked. and when you want to play it the device said the viedo is locked.
and in the licence part of the device is the licence of the movie is invalid.(sorry my english is not very good)
now how can i fix this problem.

If you made a backup using N-series PC Suite or to memory card, then the restoration of that backup should restore the licence for the film. If not, then unfortunately you have lost it.

N96 Blacking out problem

I have the N96 and it is a good phone but im getting very frustrated because it keeps blacking out and then i have to keep turning it off and on again so i can get the brightness back on, now i was advised to activate the power saving via pressing the off button once but i cant adjust the brightness with that and it still very dark, is there a way to over-ride this as its very frustrating and im not sure which settings disable this black out thing that keeps happening

Which version of the firmware are you running
I like many others used ot have this problem until I updated my phone to the v12
on your phone type *#0000#
and the device manager should appear
if not v12, then press options, check for updates and the phone will contact Nokia to see if the v12 is available for your phone
