N97: A positive fact about the instability and ch...

Hei,
Maybe this is a known fact for the others, but I have noticed that the license of Adobe starts every time you reformat the device from the beginning (or at least gives 15 days more).
 So I have had the phone since beginning on July and been able to use Adobe all the time. This also means that the phone has been reformatted at least every two weeks. This week I got a little worried because just two days of license was available and almost bought the license. But synchronization with Lotus Notes forced me again to reformat the phone. Last time it was Maps.
Hope that fw 2.0 really solves these issues, because if they still exist I will no longer be available for Nokia to be the beta test user especially for the price of 729e.
But until that lets enjoy the extended license of Adobe

  • A few questions about the ka790gx and dka790gx

    i have a few questions about the ka790gx and dka790gx , how much better is the dka790gx compaired to the ka790gx ? . how much difference does the ACC function make to overclocking etc , i plan on getting a phenom II 940BE or 720BE . i already have the ka790gx so would it be worth building another system using the dka790gx mobo , or should i keep what i already have and just change the cpu ?

    It's largely irrelevant what other boards had VRM issues other than the KA790GX - the fact is it died at stock settings. Since there is little cost difference between the more robust DKA790GX (or Platinum if you really need 1394) why bother with the proven weakling? There are other examples around of the KA not having a robust power section.  There's no way I would use even a 95W TDP CPU in the KA and absolutely not O/C.....!
    As for the credentials of Custom PC, I have generally found their reviews accurate and balanced, and echo my own findings where applicable. If a little too infrequent.
    The fact that the KA has such a huge VRM heatsink leads me to my other comments on the Forum, particularly regarding the "fudge" aspect:
    """Henry is spot on - the notion that adding a heatsink to the top of the D2PAK or whatever MOSFETS is effective is virtually worthless. The device's die thermal junction is the tab on the device back - which is always against the PCB pad. The majority of heat is therefore dissipated in to the board, and the fact that the epoxy plastic encapsulation gets hot is simply due to the inability of the heat to be conducted away from the device die via the tab. Not sure when Epoxy become an effective conductor of heat.... Good practice is to increase the size of the PCB pad (or "land" in American) such that the enlarged PCB copper area acts as an adequate heatsink. This is still not as effective as clamping a power device tab to an actual piece of ali or copper, but since the devices used are SMD devices, this is not possible. However, the surface area required to provide sufficient PCB copper area to act as a heatsink for several devices isn't available in the current motherboard layouts. Where industrial SBC designs differ in this respect is to place the VRM MOSFETs on the back of the PCB on very enlarged PCB pads - where real estate for components is not an issue.
    Gigabyte's UD3 2oz copper mainboards sound like a good idea, on the face of it. However, without knowing how they have connected the device tabs to where and what remains a mystery. I suspect it is more hype than solution, although there will be some positive effect. From an electrical perspective, having lower resistance connecting whatever to whatever (probably just a 0V plane) is no bad thing.
    The way the likes of ASUS sort of get round the problem is to increase the sheer number of MOSFET devices and effectively spread the heat dissipation over a larger physical area. This works to a degree, there is the same amount of heat being dissipated, but over several more square inches. The other advantage of this is that each leg of the VRM circuit passes less current and therefore localised heat is reduced. Remember that as well as absolute peak operating temperature causing reduced component life, thermal cycling stresses the mechanical aspects of components (die wire bonds for example) as well as the solder joints on the board. Keeping components at a relatively constant temperature, even if this is high (but within operating temperature limits), is a means of promoting longevity.
    For myself, the first thing I do with a seperate VRM heatsink is take it off and use a quiet fan to blow air on to the VRM area of the PCB - this is where the heat is. This has the added benefit of actively cooling the inductors and capacitors too....
    Cooling the epoxy component body is a fudge. If the epoxy (and thus any heatsink plonked on top of it) is running at 60C, the component die is way above that.....
    It's better than nothing, but only just."""

  • Could you please explain about the  chain and end chain and module

    hi experts
    could you please explain about the  chain and end chain and module keywords?

    Hi Naresh,
    Conditions for Multiple Screen Fields
    To ensure that one or more PAI modules are only called when several screen fields meet a particular condition, you must combine the calls in the flow logic to form a processing chain. You define processing chains as follows:
    CHAIN.
    ENDCHAIN.
    All flow logic statements between CHAIN and ENDCHAIN belong to a processing chain. The fields in the various FIELD statements are combined, and can be used in shared conditions.
    CHAIN.
    FIELD: <f1>, <f 2>,...
    MODULE <mod1> ON CHAIN-INPUT|CHAIN-REQUEST.
    FIELD: <g1>, <g 2>,...
    MODULE <mod2> ON CHAIN-INPUT|CHAIN-REQUEST.
    ENDCHAIN.
    The additions ON CHAIN-INPUT and ON CHAIN-REQUEST work like the additions ON INPUT and ON REQUEST that you use for individual fields. The exception is that the module is called whenever at least one of the fields listed in a preceding FIELD statement within the chain meets the condition. So <mod1> is called when one of the fields <fi> meets the condition. <mod2> is called when one of the fields <f i> or <g i> meets the condition.
    Within a processing chain, you can combine individual FIELD statements with a MODULE statement to set a condition for a single field within the chain:
    CHAIN.
    FIELD: <f1>, <f 2>,...
    FIELD <f> MODULE <mod1> ON INPUT|REQUEST|*-INPUT
    |CHAIN-INPUT|CHAIN-REQUEST.
    MODULE <mod2> ON CHAIN-INPUT|CHAIN-REQUEST.
    ENDCHAIN.
    The module <mod1> is called when screen field <f> meets the specified condition for individual fields. <mod2> is called when one of the fields <fi> or <f> meets the condition. If you use the addition ON CHAIN-INPUT or ON CHAIN-REQUEST with FIELD <f>, the condition also applies to the entire chain and module <mod1> and <mod2> are both called.
    In cases where you apply conditions to various combinations of screen fields, it is worth setting up a separate processing chain for each combination and calling different modules from within it.
    The functions of the FIELD statement for controlling data transport also apply when you use processing chains. Within a processing chain, screen fields are not transported until the FIELD statement. Processing chains also have another function for the FIELDS statements that they contain. This is described in the section on validity checks.
    Ex:
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
    MODULE CANCEL AT EXIT-COMMAND.
    CHAIN.
    FIELD: INPUT1, INPUT2.
    MODULE MODULE_1 ON CHAIN-INPUT.
    FIELD INPUT3 MODULE MODULE_* ON *-INPUT.
    MODULE MODULE_2 ON CHAIN-REQUEST.
    ENDCHAIN.
    FIELD INPUT1 MODULE C1 AT CURSOR-SELECTION.
    CHAIN.
    FIELD: INPUT2, INPUT3.
    MODULE C2 AT CURSOR-SELECTION.
    ENDCHAIN.
    MODULE CURSOR AT CURSOR-SELECTION.

    Sunil

    Hi, I´m new at the community. My book about the life of a bull who died in a bull fight was a best seller in Perú, and is been studied in many schools there. But I don't live there any more. People ask me about the book and is not any more at the libraries. I would like to make a tradition to english, portugues, and may be another language that could be interesting to do.
    I am a psychologist with an specialization in couple and family therapy. I am writing more and more material and the people who reads me are asking me more.
    My mother thong is Spanish, my second Portuguese , and my third is english. I apologize if I make some mistakes trying to express myself.
    The situation is that I need to upload my book to iBook and I don't know how to do it. If I can pass that step I will like to upload more material I am sure people will enjoy and learn as they did with my first one.
    I really appreciate any help.

    for backup and recovery, please follow the standard procedure of general database backup and recovery. you need to backup both the georaster table and all related RDT tables.

  • Two quick questions about the project and timing panes

    1) Is there a hotkey for toggling between the project and timing panes?
    I can't seem to find this anywhere. I know F5 and F6 open and close them, but I'd like to be able to simply activate then without having to click on them. I'd like to be able to simply toggle between them and navigate using the arrow keys
    2) Is there a way to lock together the project and timing views so that when you open a group in one that group is also opened in the other?

    Sure, play/stop SHOULD work, but it doesn't always. And the up/down arrows only work to move layers in some instances. Try this. In a normal project, select a layer in either the layers pane or the canvas. Use the up/down arrows and you'll find Motion cycles between layers. Now close the layers pane (F5) and open it again. Now try to use the up/down arrows. It no longer cycles on my machine (and probably yours).
    In fact, Motion 4 broke a LOT of the keyboard shortcuts that used to work seemlessly in Motion 3.
    For example: I create a text object and start typing my text. About 30 percent of the time hitting the spacebar while typing text will cause playback to start. Pure annoyance.
    I used to be able to Hit HOME and END to go to the start and end of the project when the layer's pane is active, now I can't.
    About 25 percent of the time when I'm in the layers pane and I hit spacebar, instead of playing the project, I turn off the layer that was currently selected.
    Those are just a few of my pet peeves. There are definitely some real issues with shortcuts in Motion 4.

  • Shopping for a T61 - questions about the OS and various h/w options

    Hi,
    I am considering buying a Thinkpad T61, but it's been a while since I have bought a computer, let alone a laptop, so I thought I'd ask a few questions here.
    I have worked on several Thinkpads T-series at work before, and I liked them, but they were all provided to me by my employers.
    I am browsing the different models on the Lenovo Canada web site; the US site looks just the same.
    The use I would make of the computer is typical office work (Word, Excel, e-mail), synchronize data with a PDA, Internet browsing, some limited web (PHP) and image editing (Paint shop pro), and listening to digital music. On occasion, watch a movie on DVD.
    I don't play 3D games.
    I would use the computer with a docking station and an external keyboard, LCD monitor and mouse when I am at home.
    I am looking at the T61 models with 15-inch widescreen, integrated graphics and no mobile broadband.
    1.) Operating system: obviously, Vista is recommended by Lenovo, but I have heard so many negative comments on this OS that I wonder if I shouldn't stick to XP. Even on this forum, I see posts about problems with Vista. Any advice on that?
    2.) I already have a license for XP on my previous machine. Assuming I buy the Vista with this one, then I would legally have the right to install either system on it, right?
    I know the machine doesn't come with an install CD, but if I get one somewhere else, would I be able to install it, or does the OS come with some weird DRM system that will prevent me from installing another OS than the exact copy of the one that was shipped with it?
    I ask this because I'm fairly certain that I will want to change the way the system partitions are set up.
    (this might sound like a silly question, but the acronym DRM became so prominent in recent years that I want to make sure)
    3.) The website says that some T61 machines come with an integrated camera. Later on in the detailed descriptions, I don't see it mentioned anywhere. Which do and which don't come with the embedded web cam?
    4.) 15.4 WXGA TFT vs. 15.4 WSXGA+ TFT : what are the resolutions of each?
    5.) Hard drive: I would go with a 7200 rpm model. Is there any benefit to getting the 1GB drive cache?
    6.) DVD recordable option: how fast does it record CDs and DVDs ?
    Thank you in advance.
    Chris.-

    Hi Kevin
    about the speakers I cannot advice.
    Regarding the driver - if there is a driver update availabel from TOSHIBA (important!!) then use it! That means they have found some kind of bug in the original driver and released a fix for it. I do not recommend you to use the nVidia generic driver since it might make the PC behave bad. StandBy / Hibernation might stop working properly. Power consumption might go up....and so on.
    Regarding the BIOS. The BIOS'es are a special chapter - when upgrading the BIOS the machine re-writes a very special part of the 'hardware' (actually it's a software installed in a chip that does not go away when you turn the computer off, it is sometimes also called firmware). That firmware is needed (among other things) to get the machine to start and load the operating system.
    If the re-write process fails it could mean that the firmware is not able to start the machine anymore. And if the machine does not start at all, you will have no chance to retry writing the firmware. So that mean the machine will be dead and you will not be able to do anything about it except turning to an ASP and possibly pay for the service.
    So, that said, it is very important that you have a realiable powersupply (which you normally have with the AC Adapter) and that you make 100% sure that you use the correct BIOS-file.
    If you can accomplish those 2 small things there should be no problem upgrading the BIOS.

  • About the iPhone and it's "lack of basic features"

    There are SO MANY rants going on in this discussing board about the iPhone lacking "basic features" of a cellphone. Here is my response to all of them at once. (I know this has nothing to do with user-to-user technical support, but the topic is discussed on here enough to warrant this post.)
    Sure, I would like to be able to send texts messages to multiple contacts, I would love to be able to add my own ringtones, copy and paste, and picture message. Here's the deal, Apple didn't set out to create a product with those features, they didn't set out to create a product that is like all the others or that has all the best features that every other phone has. They started over. They didn't compare it to any other phone. They have said over and over that the iPhone is a completely new product from the ground up. Sure it includes some features that can be found in phones that came before it, but it's all done in a new way. It's not some super phone that combines the best of every smartphone out there. They were very open about this and listed EVERYTHING the phone was going to be capable of. No, they didn't tell you the things that it wouldn't do, that's not the angle they were taking when designing and marketing this product, no one does that. The iPhone does everything they said it would do and does it better than any other phone that has the same features. So how can anyone come on here a gripe about it lacking basic features? The features I listed above are features that someone else reading this may never need or want. Basic features to you are not going to be basic features to me. Basic features 3 years ago are not basic features today nor will they be in 3 years. There are no basic features when it comes to the iPhone, other then perhaps the phone part. When you set out to create a product from the ground up, you don't start with a list of features that need to be included. You start with a blank slate and build on that, from your own ideas, your own technology, not based on what anyone else is doing or what has been done in the past. This is what Apple has done, and they have been very clear about it from day one. So please, if you feel that the iPhone lacks the "basic features" on a cell phone, take it back so that someone else can have that phone and enjoy its "basic features," that are like no other phone before it.

    Your posting should have went to the Apple.com feedback section instead of posting it here in the user to user forum, this goes back to doing research on what the iphone can and cannot do before making the purchase you have to remember this is just the first generation iphone just like there was a first generation ipod most likely they'll be enhancements coming up for the iphone i myself am happy with my iphone, how many cell phones out there have visual voicemail?

  • Why does the content spill over and how do I position this under the menu and title?

    I was following this tutorial on how to add a scrolling image gallery to a Flash website.
    (http://www.republicofcode.com/tutorials/flash/xmlimagegallery/index.php)
    From what I understand from this tutorial, it is just a matter of copying the Actionscript code and pasting it onto the timelines then making modifications on the XML.
    (kindly see a screenshot of timeline layers I made and as to where I put the Actionscript code:
    http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq19/tsujzpie/imagegalleryproblem_01.jpg )
    I pasted the code onto the blank keyframe labeled "Gallery"...
    But all I get is this weird effect when I click on the button for the gallery...
    (kindly see a screenshot of it here: http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq19/tsujzpie/imagegalleryproblem_02.jpg )
    When you put a blank keyframe on a timeline, any content put in there is supposed to only be contained in that very frame, right? How come then that - whenever the gallery button is clicked on - the content from that section spills out onto the other sections even when I click on other button for the other areas?
    I just really couldn't think why this is happening - any reason why this is so?
    And how do I position the gallery right under the section header and menu bar?
    Here is its AS2 code, by the way:
              import mx.transitions.Tween;
              import mx.transitions.easing.*;
              var myGalleryXML = new XML();

                                  container_mc._y += Math.cos(((mask_mc._ymouse)/mask_mc._height)          *Math.PI)*15;
                                  if (container_mc._y>mask_mc._y) {
                                            container_mc._y = mask_mc._y;
                                  if (container_mc._y<(mask_mc._y-(container_mc._height-mask_mc.          _height))) {
                                            container_mc._y = mask_mc._y-(container_mc._height-          mask_mc._height);

    You should create a manually movieclip symbol with nothing in it and take a copy of it from the library and place it in the frame where you intend for the gallery to display.  Give it an instance name of "container_mc" and remove the following line from your callThumbs function
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("container_mc",_root.getNextHigh estDepth());
    You probably need to do the same for the mask and the full images since they appear to also be created using dynamic mc's.

  • Question about the Cluster and Column width in Graphs in Illustrator CS2

    How do they relate to each other? How do the Percentages work together? Is there any information about how you can mathematically figure how much area each Cluster width takes. If you make a graph and make both the cluster and column widths 100%, the entire area is filled. If you make the Column width 50% the bar will sit exactly in the center of the Cluster width, but if you make the cluster width 75%, the bars move closer together.

    Gregg,
    The set of bars that represent each row of data in the graph spreadsheet is called a "cluster".
    Let's let
       W = the width of the whole area inside the graph axes
       R = the number of rows of data
       C = the number of columns of data
    Then the maximum potential space to use for each row of data is W/R. The cluster width controls how much of this potential space is assigned to each row. This cluster space is then divided by C, giving the maximum potential width of each bar. The maximum potential width for each bar is then multiplied by the column width percentage to get the actual width of each bar.
    So the actual width of each bar is ((W/R)*Cluster width)/C)*Column width
    The graphs illustrated below have three rows of data, with two columns each. The solid colored areas in the background have the same cluster width as the main graph, but they all have a column width of 100%. This lets you see more easily how the gradient bars that have a column width of 80% are using up 80% of their potential width.
    Notice that as the Cluster percentage gets lower, the group of bars that represent a row of data get farther apart, so that you can more easily see the "clumping" of rows. When the Cluster percentage is 100%, the columns within each row are no closer to each other than they are to the columns in other rows.
    As the Column percentage gets lower, the bars for each data value occupy less of the space within their row's cluster, so that spaces appear between every bar, even in the same row.

  • About the MDF and log_LDF file in the SQL server

    Hai Experts ,
    I need known the , What is MDF and log_ldf file .
    In our BPC server there are MDF and Log_LDF file in the MSSQLSERVER folder under the E drive.
    The both file have huge database size .
    Can u explain what is MDF and Log_LDF file , why its created ....
    Regards
    Daya......................

    Hi Daya
    Those files are the actual SQL database files, in SQL Server management console, you have a logical view of the database with all of the objects within the database. The *.MDF and *.LDF files are the actual physical files which makes up the database in SQL Server. (Where the actual data is stored...)
    The MDF file is the actual data file
    The LDF file is the transaction log file, SQL Server uses this file in order maintain ACID compliance. It uses transactions to ensure that the database will always revert to a known consistent state on failure.
    More Info:
    [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_SQL_Server]
    You don't provide much information regarding the environment, i.e (DEV, QA, PROD, etc), but your *.LDF file should not be bigger that your *.MDF file, and if it is quite large, then you will need your DBA to shrink your Transaction Log file.

    [http://www.sql-server-performance.com/forum/threads/transaction-log-file-will-not-shrink.15877/]

    Hope this helps
    Kind Regards

  • Question about the "Windows and Arch Dual Boot" wiki

    I've been reading this wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Win … _Dual_Boot to get a better understanding of what I need to do to install Arch along side of my XP installation and there's one point that I don't understand. Here it is
    It is important to note that there is a 1024 cylinder limit with some older BIOSs. This means that the BIOS cannot access things beyond the 1024th cylinder (about 8.5GB), so the /boot partition should be in the first 8.5GB (space before Windows partition).
    How does one go about getting the /boot partition created during the installation of Arch to install in the first 8.5g? I have installed Arch in Virtualbox twice so far just so that I'm familiar with the procedure and I can't see anything in the installation where I can do this.
    There's one other item that is not clear to me as I've seen conflicting information on it. If I do create a seperate "/boot" partition for Arch, do I need to make it "bootable"during the installation? At this point I don't think that I do.
    My understanding of installing to be able to dual boot is that I only need to install Grub to "Sda" and of course edit the grub menu to add the information needed for XP. Is this enough?
    Thanks for any help.

    Yes, you install grub to sda (master boot record), and add the entry for Windows. In the step where you partition the harddrive, you can choose where to create it. Actually it may not be that much of a problem anymore, my boot is on the third partition, after ~15 GB. You can forget about the bootable flag when using grub, it does not care.
