N97 advice

sorry if this has already been covered before but i can't find answers!  i just have some questions because i'm sure it's more a matter of me not doing something right than the phone being faulty as to why these things are or aren't happening.
1.  I'm not getting email notifications, but i thought i'd set it up to notify me of new emails.
2.  Is there a way to put different widgets ie. google or ebay on the home page, instead of what is already installed on the phone?
3.  How do I make it so that when I connect to the internet, it searches for WLAN connections before using the OptusZoo WAP connection, or can't this be done?
4.  When i log into my Hotmail account using the phone, i can read emails but when i try to delete them, or select a few and then delete, i get HTTP status 403 come up on a blank white screen.  whyy??
as i said, i'm sure i'm just not doing the right thing or haven't got stuff set up properly but any help would be much appreciated.  i'm happy that i'm not getting any of the problems others on here have encountered, such as the calling/answering issues and the backlight not coming on, the alarm being off time.  thanks again

Hi, I've just got my N97 back from CPW (after nearly 3 weeks) and if there is a hardware problem it's your only solution other than posting direct to Nokia. The good/bad new is my phone was replaced by a new handset (different issue to yours) but if a hard reset and installing the latest software won't cure it, t need serair or replacement, you need to just bite the bullet !!
On the upside you will appreciate it more when you get it back

  • N97 GPS WORKING BUT MAPS NOT VISIBLE- - ADVICE PL...

    Hi All
A few months ago I upgraded my N97 SW.
Im now on the following –
    Software Version -V21.0.045
    Custom version – 21.0.045.C01.01
    Date 14-01-10
    Model N97
    Type RM-505
    Language Set 15
A few weeks after this I started my maps (UAE) and although the GPS was working the maps were not visible.
If I start maps and goto options-->Shop --> My licenses
Its says that “Drive all regions” expired on 23/01/2010
I thought it was my SW upgrade that screwed up the maps but it looks like it’s the subscription.
Can someone confirm that this is the reason that my MAPS are not visible and what myoptions are for purchasing so that I can see where Im going?
    Advice and help much appreciated.
    Jimmy
PS it was purchased from Sharif DJ

Since you are already on v21, go to Menu>Apps>Software Update>And download the new Ovi maps 3.03 (free lifetime navigation).
After wards connect your phone to your PC via Ovi Suite and download the updated maps for your phone. These maps are updated every now and then (addition of more roads, new data, etc). Also updating the maps may render old maps incompatible with new app.

  • Advice on updating N97.

What's the best procedure for updating an N97 Do I also need to have the latest version of PC Suite or Ovi suite? Do I need those at all? Is the NSU sufficient if I have the latest version? How should I go about it?

If you have a computer that has never been 'tainted' by say the Nokia Suite, or any Ovi beta - feel free to use the Ovi suite - updates and syncing work fine, much better than the old nokia suite.  The reason I say fresh is that i've had problems where not eventing seems to get removed from the Ovi betas or the Nokia Suite.
Here is the procedure that works for me:
    - Copy everything off your phone (or sync) music, contacts, photos, videos, etc. (if you sync your contacts with say outlook this makes it REALLY easy.
    - Install the new firmare
    - Flash your phone.
    - Set messages to store on 'Mass Storage' right away!
    - Copy or Sync everything back.
    - Reinstall apps (put them on Mass Storage)
Most people skip the Flashing part as they don't want to loose apps etc.  In my opinion unless you want to struggle with your phone and C: space issue forever - just Flash it and get it over with.  makes a world of difference.  Just do it!
I love my purple screen, 1/2 day battery, sketchy touch screen and $800 price tag - I call it my Lumia 900

  • Any ideas on a cover for the n97?

    Hi all
I have a plastic hard case for my n97 at the minute off ebay but that has cracked and broken.
Instead of getting a new one can anybody give any good advice for a film like cover similar to the invisible shield?
I don't like the idea of having to wet the invisible shield to attach it so any alternatives would be great!
    Cheers

Hi,I have Martin Fields screen protector on my screen, but many others available, invisible shield gets rave reviews, but there are many others, you tend to find that you get what you pay for. Just about all will work, but more money will get you something that will last longer. As for wetting the phone, you don't exactly run it under a tap, it's simply easier to apply adhesive vynal if its slightly moist, as the glue doesn't bond as quickly and you've got more chance to adjust it.
Only other advice I can give, is take your time when fitting, carefully position screen cover before applying any pressure, and make sure that everything is as clean and dust free as possible, wash your hands and the surface your working on and clean the phone screen thoroughly'
    Good Luck

  • Nokia Experience (N97 and 5800)

About two weeks ago I was in the market for new a new cell phone...being an AT&T user I decided to go unlocked instead of buying a subsidised phone.  After searching the net I gave up and went to a cell phone "boutique" store here in Washington DC which specialize in unlocked phones.  This place came highly recomended so I gave them a try.  I went into the store to find that there was a lot of Nokia advertisement in the store.  In the past I haven't dealt with nokia much.  I told the salesman what I was looking for and he first tried to sell me an IPhone but at $800 unlocked I passed.  I then told him that I was also looking for a phone for my girlfriend.  I have big fingers so I needed a keyboard...long story short I left the store with an N97 for myself and a 5800 for my GF.
I should have done more research on Nokia and not just listen to the salesman.
The first few days were great then came an update for the N97 and things seemed wonderful.  But things started going south for both phones.  Since the 5800 belonged to my GF and ultimately caused me the most grief we'll start with that one.
    5800:
My GF uses the phone for three things...talking, texting and facebook.  The phone is untouched outside of the latest updates and adding the Facebook app.  Every so often the phone will freeze after a phone call, she is usually around me when this happens and she just throws the phone at me and says fix it.  The Facebook app is useless and doesn't come close to any other Facebook app out there (I hear it constantly).  The web browser will shut down on it's own for no reason.  She has like 1000 friends literally and she find scrolling through her contacts annoying and the search function is not always helpful.  There are many other little small glitches that she complains about and I have to hear and feel the results...thans Nokia.
I use the N97 myself.  I got it because it has the Keyboad and I am a DJ and have tons of music that I like to carry with me.  After a couple of days of use and a couple of app installs..the phone became slow(er). Switching from landscape to portrait and back would cause the phone to stop and think for a second (or two).  The phone wants to go to landscape when some one call, this a very annoying and gets in the way.  I have almost 30 gb of music and phonos in the phone and I will say that digging through them is painful to say the least...why can the photos be place in folders in the gallery?  The nokia browser does the samething that the 5800 does with the shutting down problem.  The alarm clock is off by several minutes.  My phones randomly freezes for no apparent reason.
After searching the web I stumbled across this forum and started reading the many topic...wow I am not alone.  Many people are having the same issues and it looks like these issues have been around for some time.  Isn't this a Nokia forum?  Do they even read this forum?  How could these phone go through several updates and still have the same annoying problems?  All I can say is WOW. Before the is Phone I had a Blackberry and it too had its bugs when it came out but in subsequent updates the bugs went away.  I have heard the same for other smarthpones.  Being a first time Nokia user, this left a foul taste in my mouth.  I call the store to complain and they are willing to cut me a deal on any other phone they sell since my Nokia experience has been less than favorable.
Sorry for the long rant...I didn't come here to vent, I actually came for advice.  Before I go and return these phone and lay down even more money, please tell me that there is a light at the end of this tunnel.  You guys have more experience with Nokia's than I do and I am willing to listen to your advice in this matter...should I stay or should I leave?  HELP!!!

    Okey, thanks. Nice to know!

  • N97 Garbage? Nokia RIP

I have for the last 4 yrs been a Nokia user from an early n80 to the buggy useless n97 here is the none response of the biggest mistake in my life/....N97 RIP.....
an email i sent and got noe replys ....
This will be the second email now I have asked you to respond to, regarding
the situation I find myself in and I'm certainly not expecting you to reply
to this either, it absolutely beggars belief that a massive multinational
company such as Nokia has taken it upon themselves to ignore my plight.
I have a recorded now eight phone calls I have made to Nokia care UK I have
been on hold five times for up to 22 minutes at a time and then just hung
up, I was promised by Nokia care UK you would immediately ring me back with
the utmost urgency within 24 hours this is not the case I have subsequently
called you three times today 25th of August 2009, I have been placed on hold
by your operatives so they can get a second opinion as regards my complaint
and yet agin 25 mins later and music ..nothing again?
You gave me a reference number 1-7891938666 , what on earth are you playing
at do you realise your software has destroyed my computer in as using your
OVI software has resorted in me having several viruses downloaded from your
    website onto my machine.
Several days ago I purchased an N97 Nokia phone on Orange, together with
this phone was the OVI software that I installed on my windows XP machine,
after the install the OVI software started to collect my photographic an AVI
data, this seemed normal to me until I tried to view my photographs in Nokia
    photo.
In Nokia photo I tried viewing some maybe I is that the software had
collected but click in to an AVI Nokia photo requested I download Windows
media 10 player and had a click okay to presume, after clicking okay nothing
happened so I did it again nothing happened again so I carried on using the
software to view my photographs which allowed me to do.
About 30 seconds later my virus software Avast professional alerted me to a
virus I subsequently deleted the virus but it came back again and again and
avast reported that the virus was in fact win 32:Vitro.exe, try as I may I
could not stop the virus spreading in fact the virus was so powerful it
stopped my anti-malware and Spy Bot software from running.
The consequences of this virus which came from your website on request from
Nokia photo and speaking to your colleagues at Nokia care UK all they wanted
to do was to blame Microsoft because in fact the file that Nokia photo was
requesting to download was Microsoft windows media player 10 and so
according to you it was their fault.
When I spoke to Microsoft I spoke to somebody in their technical support
section and they said and I quote because Nokia is affiliated with Microsoft
they have access to the Windows media files through their website, when I
mentioned this to Nokia care UK they also confirmed that in fact they to
    were affiliated with Microsoft.
The consequences of this virus has rendered my operating system inoperative
and further information gathered from websites that deal specifically with
viruses and malware suggest that in fact the Win32: vitro.exe virus is a
very aggressive virus and that the only true course of action to get rid of
it is to format my hard drives.
further my external hard drives have also been affected by the win32:
vitro.exe virus I have over 3 TB of information that has been destroyed as a
result of these viruses from your website, I have repeatedly sought help
from both you Nokia and Microsoft, Microsoft has said it is your fault you
say it is Microsoft's fault I am left with 10 years of collated information
treasured photographs treasured videos, treasured letters, and lots more in
ruins because of this virus, at present I am sitting here absolutely
devastated and distraught at my loss I am spending money contacting you for
advice and you are systematically ignoring me, you promised you would
contact me with the utmost urgency don't you care about your customers does
it not matter to you that you have viruses that destroy people's lives and
    computers on your website.
What am I to do now I tell you what I will do if you don't do what you say
you can do about it help me recover my last files and tell me whether it is
safe for me to use my Nokia N97 phone or not, I'd also want to be reassured
that the Nokia software is safe to use, if you do not reply to me and gave
me assurances you will help I will contact the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, sky
News, the newspapers including the Times, the Telegraph, the Observer, the
New York Times, Jay Leno anyone that will listen to my plight.
I have given you enough opportunities to help me sort this out please don't
ignore me any longer because in the current climate the way the situation is
right now words will speak louder than actions, I have already prepared a
video for release on youTube detailing the plight I am in, I'm sure if Nokia
UK will ignore me and people out there saying my plight won't.
Don't keep ignoring me Nokia care UK
    sincerely yours

In your mail to Nokia, you raise a number of points, but here are a few comments:
I, along with millions of other users around the world, have Ovi Suite and other Ovi software installed on my PC and laptop with no problem - how on Earth can you be so sure that Nokia is the source of the virus that you have came from Nokia? If nothing happend when you clicked 'OK' to proceed with the download of WMP, then -erm- nothing happened. The fact that you noticed the virus shortly afterwards is most likely pure coincidence. What other software do you have installed on your PC that has internet access? Most things that you install nowadays run permanently from the system tray, so they're active even if you down double-click their desktop icons.
What does Nokia having a business agreement with Mircsoft and having access to Windows Media files have to do with your virus? Nothing at all.
The chances of Nokia, Microsoft or any other big company being the source of your virus are as near to nothing as makes no difference, if your AV software is unable to remove your virus then I suggest that you update or replace it, and be more careful about what sites you visit and what software you install in the future.
As for your N97 sat in a corner because you are scared it might have viruses, this fear is completely unfounded. Your N97 does NOT have a Windows operating system, so firstly any viruses that it might have could not infect your PC any more than a Windows virus could infect an Apple Mac, and secondly the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system in the N97 has no viruses whatsoever. A very small number of viruses existed for much older version of the Symbian OS, but they could only infect a phone if activated by the user running (things can't self-install without your knowledge in Symbian as they can in Windows), and these viruses were so inaffective that they were never developed beyond 2nd Edition - 3rd and 5th Edition phones on sale to day are currently safe from viruses.
Feel free to take your story to the press and media, because the outcome will be that any number of experts will step forward to point out that Nokia is not the cause of your PC problems.

  • N97 Bugs ant problems...

    Dear forum members...
I have been used N97 RM505 for couple of months.
I bought it brand new with 3 generations old fw.
My problems with the phone started then! Very disappointing and embarrassing for Nokia, to be honest.
Since I consider myself  "power user", I have never had smartphone  or  pocket PC so I could use it as phone or music player. I have always wanted to use phone as mobile computer so I aimed hi-tech products (7-8 years ago)  from manufacturers like HTC, HP...half year ago I fell in love with Nokia E71 smartphone, and that was my first Symbian powered gadget. I was very interested in how  "symbians" do it. And I was surprised how it worked. But, I wanted more. I gave E71 as present and decided to go for N97, flagship Nokia device.
And then, problems started to show up...
3 FW updates from that moment, and problems I have with this...device..do not disappear!
Same things happen all over again!
I read about particular issues and there are many of them, that's for sure.
My problem is simple: I have all of them!
Main camera works from time to time, after I answer the call I cant unlock the phone, freezes during boot sequence, left side of display in landscape mode dissapears, phone "kind of soft-restarts" every day or two and after that I have to reconfigure my email settings all over again, speed dial and favorite contacts lose pictures, contacts or group assigned ringtones mess up...
Phone has to be rebooted using "battery-pulled-out" method at least 3 times a day!
Tried everything: formatting, reinstalling device's FW, hard-resetting, FW upgrading...
Every time I format memory or hard-reset the phone i hope that will be last time!
But, nothing happens. Phone works well for a couple of hours. Phone call and it gets stuck, and i start all over again...when I come home.
I work as industrial automation software developer and, believe me, i know what "faulty device" means.
I know Nokia's origins, and I know that Finland is cradle of mobile communications, I have visited couple of companies in Finland that produce very reliable digital radio devices and I am familiar how professional they are up there...Every bug I have found in devices produced and developed in Finland was reported and problems were solved in couple of weeks or so! This does not fit in my experience with Nokia. E71 is outstanding device. I am sorry because I switched it for this "flagship phone" or, even worse, "mobile computer".
    Bottom line:
Phone is not reliable, especially if you want to use it as multipurpose device!
Calling this device  "Nokia flagship phone" is very wrong.
I am gonna wait for couple of weeks for new FW since it is not still available for rm505 officially, and after that I'll do something bad with this phone.
Technical support in my country is more than "unprofessional" and problem solving does not consist of turning off and turning on the phone or continuous reinstalling FW, as they do it.
My Question: Anything similar happened to anybody, and what I should do?
Thanks for advices. Forget technical support or local repair centre.
    Cheers!

    Yeah...
Thanks for the tips, carman58. I have already managed to try all different combinations and procedures for getting my phone to work including your recommendations.
As I told you before...after formatting E-drive, reinstalling phone software and hard resetting things went pretty well...until something happens. Week or two...day or two of heavy usage and I can't unlock device after phone call...Or main camera fails. Or, sometimes I just can't turn it on. White screen and stuff like that. 3-4 days before I decided to post on this forum I conducted procedure similar to the one recommended by carman58. I tried to conclude "critical amount of free space on C drive" that affects phone's stability. Phone works well (but I want it to work better than that) with 40-50 MB of free space on C drive. Anything below that level does not guarantee your phone will work well. Memory allocation may be the key...Not my job, just trying to conclude something logical.
I am not fan of third party software that watches RAM or CPU usage...Bad experience with Windows mobile devices, but I'll try to see somehow  if there's not enough memory when s**t happen.
And, yes...There are some apps that definitely do not free allocated memory after program is closed or even crashed. I am not going to name these apps, just want to know forum members experience with remote desktop management software compatible with N97. Hahaha!...In ths very moment I found out that my phone is not charging although it is connected to  the charger! Never mind...Maybe notification does not work.
Is there Nokia's official explanation for problems with N97? They can't deny problems. I mean, if you are not heavy user, or power-user....whatever....maybe you won't have problems we are dealing with?
And then, what's the point of 400MHz cpu clock, and great amount of RAM? It is there so we can watch video clips, take pictures, or surf the web? Yes but not all of that at the same time...
Multitasking is what devices like N97 should eat for lunch, if you know what I mean. Memory management should not be like this...3rd party apps for monitoring and flushing RAM. No way.
I know how hard it is to develop device that has all of these functions N97 has. So many hardware modules in such small housing, powered by such small power source...That's hell of a job!
If it is true, then my device should still have "beta" somewhere around "N97". I am not going to mention how much money N97 costs...
    Bugs antS problems...

  • N97 Phone Memory

I got my phone yesterday, did the V2 update straight away.
    Today i found i had 3mb.
I've been through all the advice on here, wiped it, hard reset and put it all back in.
    Now i have 16mb.
Is there any chance of this increasing? Cheers.

Rasmus - I doubt so.  From the "reviews" written at OVI for those apps, I am not the only N97 who can't resinstall. Traveler for instance, has a "resource not available" when clicking onto it.  Maybe something very strange is happening in OVI Store.  Also, do a search on Facebook yields 3 results.  I have downloaded one and instead of installing the files, I was taken to the ZIP folder with a list of files in my phone.  AccuWeather has another strange error after the download.
Very strange.  Such a hassle to reinstall these apps that comes with the phone, sigh.
I have purchased quite a lot of apps from OVI Store and am quite reluctant to hard reset the phone, in case if I lose any.  Another thing about N97 is that I can't see a list of apps currently on phone memory.  I have to click onto one by one.  And some of them, I have no idea what they are.  Must be some supporting apps for the main apps.  Some of the apps are quite expensive (like the Spanish dictionary).  I think one day I shall sit down and go through 1 by 1 (60 of them) to see which one I will stand to lose if I do a reset.
Thanks for your reply anyway, Rasmus.

  • N97 some widgets won't open

I'm having some problems with certain widgets not opening. I click the icon in the menu and the widget starts to open but will soon shut down with no error message or anything.
I tried to remove the widgets that are malfunctioning but the icons will not disappear from the menu. I think this all started after installing Evernote Beta widget.
Is it possible to get rid of those icons and try to re-install some of the widgets manually or do I have to hard reset? I really wouldn't want to hard reset.

@jheel_online this is a user to user forum, the idea is that people give and recieve help and advice, if you wish to complain to nokia contact them direct. You copying and pasting the same comment onto every post regarding the N97 is not helping anyone, people have posted it 100's of times before !!! IT'S OLD NEWS

  • N97 Nokia Map

    Hi guys,
Anyone know the application name list in the Installed Application:
(Setting --> Application MGR --> Installed apps.)
    Nokia Map (7MB)
I uninstalled this application call Nokia Map and I free 7MB from the C.
But my MAP icon still found in the application menu and the MAP is still working fine.
Ohhhh dear, what had I done ?
    I also don't know ........
This morning I notice the latest update of OVI MAP (9MB).
After I download the update from OVI and installed, the Nokia Map is appear in the Installed apps. list again with 7MB. shhhhhh
** the goal is to free more memory of my N97, I might uninstall all the application until the phone is NO MORE MEMORY FULL issue.
    Best regards
    Anderson

Despite the phone being short of RAM you DO need about 20 meg free on C for the phone to run reasonably quickley, there are 100's of threads advising on this, Opera Mini is NOT a memory hog (although Opera Mobile is) there is no need for an anti virus on a symbian phone it is simply a waste of space and resources. Do a search on the forum for optimising memory you will get lots of advice.

  • N97 Thumbnails in photo browser

Just a minor query re. N97 thumbnails. When I open the 'normal' default Photo Browser thumbnail images are displayed as a 'slideshow' under 'Captured' and 'Downloads' . I have both my Photo and Video applications locked with 'Application Locker' but these thumbnails are still displayed on the Photo Browser screen before the password is needed.I can't find any setting to disable this.
A different 'problem' is that in the My Video page, under settings, there is a choice to turn thumbnails on or off - but this seems to have absolutely no effect at all as thumbnails are always displayed.
    Thanks for any advice.
On a different topic, I know that there is a lot of people having problems with the N97, but I can nonestly say I've had hardly any. I bought the N97 last June as a SIM free handset from MobileFun in the UK (a 'Made in Finland handset) after researching that it should do everything that I wanted, and, generally it has done this. I currently have about 90 applications installed, many of which I use on a regular basis. I have not had the 'scratched lens' problem and GPS works really well, especially with the new OVI Maps app. I also use Google maps for the satellite/street view images. I use Facebook and Twitter daily from the phone (using Snaptu or Nimbuzz) without problem. Friends are always impressed by the quality of the photo and videos produced. As I say, it meets all my specific requirements, but I can see it might not meet everyone's!
My only real gripe is that UK firmware updates always seem to be very late in appearing after other countries have received theirs. Still waiting for the latest update. I know there are country-specific bits (like BBC i-player, etc.) but it shouldn't take as long as it does, and only leads to more frustration for those who are already unhappy with the N97.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You can resize the thumbnails with the slider lower right of the iPhoto Window.
Switch to Photos view, not Events view and then select 'View -> Full Screen'.

  • Nokia N97 Bugs/Issues

    Hi all
I am sorry of there is another thread to this, but this is the firsttime i have used this forum.  I was just wondering if anyone has been having any problems with the Nokia N97.  I got the black one sim free.  I bought it from carphone warehouse.  I had to exchange the phone, due to it going off and rebooting itself. I did the software update and was still having problems with assigned ringtones just defaulting back to the nokia tune all the time!! anyway with my new handset I am having problems with the alarm clock not going off on time!!!! and occasionally when I want to change my profile to silent or outdoor when in work,  it doesnt work, or rather it does, but doesnt show on the fromt of the phone so when i switch it off and putit back on it has changed.  i reset my mob yday and started again cos at one point the phone was flashing on and off but i think that was sumit to do with the web being down or summit with o2.  Im in 2 minds I don't know whether these things will be fixed with another software update or while im within 28 days go and exchange the handset again!! which i dont really want to keep doing and am wary that the next handset cold be the same or worse...
Anyone got any views or advice....cos im lost...I luv the phone, i really do, just want everything to be sound!
    Help...

  • N97 Mini VOIP failure after 11.0.045 upgrade

Just upgraded my N97 mini to version 11.0.045 and the built-in VOIP got buggy. VOIP call only working for the first call after a phone restart ! The registration is successful al the time, but no audio and connectivity after 1st call. I'm subscribed to a Betamax Voip service.
I'm connecting through Wifi. I freshly downloaded and reinstalled the SIP Voip settings software. No luck.
I also notice some strange behaviors.. When I logoff from VOIP service, the Wifi is not turning off (no other service using the connection). And in the advanced settings I see the profile is "Registered", which was not so before upgrade. Now, to release the registration, I had to do a restart.
    Please advice.

Hi, I also just upgraded to 11.0.045 on my Nokia N97 Mini.
I cannot log on to my SIP profile at all any more! Nothing happens when clicking on it or selecting Options--> Connect.
I also reinstalled the SIP VoIP software (SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis) but this could not solve the problem either.
I do very much rely on VoIP so I am very disappointed by Nokia!
    Can any one help??

  • Add contact detail to a message Nokia N97 Mini

Hi, I bought a Nokia N97 Mini in January, and I still can't resolve this problem: I don't know how to add a contact detail to the body of any text message. I have had several Nokia phones, for years, and I remember that if you wanted to send a text message, lets say to a friend and this friend asked you for someone else's phone number in order to send it you just start a new message> insert content> contact detail, then you just chose the contact you'd like to send the phone number of and that's it. Now, I can't figure out how to do it with my new phone. Sorry if I sound silly, it's just that I don't know where else to look for. Thnx!

    Hi,
I beleive you are using MS Outlook.
    Try the following workaround.
    Manual sync
Open Nokia Ovi Suite--> Sync--> Sync option--> Uncheck the sync automatically everytime you connect the device.
    Then Sync--> Sync now--> Contact,
Repair the "pst" and the "ost" Outlook files as in the following location.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANOST.EXE
Right click the above mentioned exe file and 'Run' it.
    NOTE
It's adviced to take a back- up of the user's Outlook folders to avoid any loss of information.
Check with Microsoft support pages for more information.
