N97 Auto Rotate and Backlight of Keyboard

Normally the backlight of keyboard will turn on when the keyboard is open and screen will auto rotate. However, the following situation will trigger the backlight of keyboard when the keyboard remain close:
1. Auto-rotate display: On.
2. Sensors: On.
3. Then turn the phone so that screen rotate from portrait to landscape.
This happen on my N97 with firmware 21.0.045.
Is it a bug?

how do you see back light on actual keyboard when you don't slide it out? the device is close up and i can't see on the keyboard so i can't notice if there is back light on keyboard when screen rotate vis versa from landscape mode to portrait mode. I have
1. Auto-rotate display: On.
2. Sensors: On.
3. Then turn the phone so that screen rotate from portrait to landscape and i can see any lighting through the slider.
Nop it's not a firmware bug.

  • Since IOS 6 update, malfunction with auto rotate and sounds

Hello. I'm wondering if others have experienced a problem since updating their IPads. Since the update, I've lost the dual functionality of auto-rotate and sounds. I can only have 1 of the functions operate as per norm.  If I want sounds (for keyboard clicks/games/etc.) my screen will not auto orient. Vice versa for auto orientation. Normal rotation is only possible with NO SOUND for the previously mentioned apps. I've performed reboots, and also endeavoured to make the obvious corrections in the General Settings fields. When I uncheck "MUTE"...it automatically places a checkmark in the lock rotation field!!!
Can anyone offer a solution, to what i perceive, as a software issue?

    Maybe this will help.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Annoying fact: N97 auto rotate while making phone ...

While you are in a conversation and you look back at the screen, you want to press hold, loudspeaker, cut off line or other in call function, the phone will auto rotate to landscape mode, which is very annoying, since the buttons layout will be different and will cause delay.
On the iphone, this auto rotate function is switched off during conversation, which is very practical.
Is there a function on the N97 to turn off the auto rotate during call conversation WHILE the general auto rotate function is switched on in Settings?

Just tried it on fw v2.0, it still rotates during a phone call and there is no option to turn auto-rotation off during phone calls.
I found this design flaw in the UI very annoying. The phone rings, you pull it out of your pocket to answer and the screen rotates to landscape, and let's face it the N97 is not the snappiest phone so I missed a few calls waiting for the screen orientation to get itself sorted. I ended up just turning auto-rotation off, it will still change to landscape orientation when you open the keyboard.
*** Any Nokia employees reading this please forward this issue to the N97 team so that for the next fw update they can either turn auto-rotation off when receiving/during a phone call or include an option for this. ***

  • After upgrading to windows 10 Auto-rotate and touchpad gestures does not work

I have installed the latest HP Support Assistant for windows 10  and I have installed the updates  Intel Virtual Button DriverHP System Event Utility Updates failed to install without giving reason: Intel Serial I/O driver Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver In display settings  I have checked the box of "Allow the screen to auto-rotate" But all these have not worked. Please find a solution for me.

Yes. I found the answer here:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/HP-Envy-x2-13-j020CA-Windows-10-Auto-Rotate-Autorotate-now/m-p/5212887#M115445I've tried replacing the driver on Sdo Sensor V2 device with the Simple Device Orientation Sensor and rotation works just like it did on 8.1.For the record - Sdo Sensor v2 reports the device orientation continiously, and Simple Device Orientation Sensor reports it only when the orientation changes. Must be a Windows bug then.

  • Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Auto-Rotation

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report auto-rotation does not always occur while changing modes on their Yoga 10 tablet (B8000-F/H). Reports include the Lenovo Launcher home page, Facebook, and SolMail. Hard resets do not resolve the issue.
Please note that Lenovo has escalated internally on this issue. I was able to reproduce these reports on a KitKat 4.4.2 V24 build. I noticed slow auto-rotate and I quickly developed a habit of automatically "shaking" the device one time when changing the mode to force the auto-rotation.
These reports originated from this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-Jun...
Note: This has only been reported by Yoga 10 Tablet users. If this is occuring on your Yoga 8 Tablet, please let me know so I can escalate it for the Yoga 8.

  • Photoshop and Bridge CS5 does not auto rotate SOME images.

Photoshop and Bridge CS5 does not rotate SOME of my vertical images.  Most other photos taken in the same time frame and with the same camera display perfectly.
Orientation is checked for display under Preferences, Metadata, Camera Data.
There also seems to be a discrepancy how Orientation is described under Metadata for those images which DO auto rotate : sometimes it is -90 (which is how I hold the camera for verticals and which displays on most verticals) and sometimes it is "normal" even when it has auto rotated the image.   I do not understand this difference.
"Normal" is also used to describe the orientation of those images which DO NOT auto rotate for viewing.
The photos in questions were taken using a Nikon D-300 which is programmed to indicate the orientation of the camera and has always been programmed to do so.
I know I can manually change the orientation but we are talking about hundreds of images (I have over 10,000 photos in all; most of which display fine).
What should I be looking for to explain and correct this issue?
I appreciate anything you can do to help.  Thank you.

Thanks for responding to my query.  I'll check out the thumbnail size.
It is just so curious that 90% of the verticals auto rotate and the rest do not.  The ones that do not rotate are even from different years (other images in those years work fine), although all taken with the same camera.

  • X61t upgrade and auto-rotate not working

I just bought an x61t off trademe for $50. I've always coveted one because my old x60s was the best thinkpad I've ever owned. This one is solid and underused. I intend to upgrade to win 8 later, and add some more ram and  swap in a SSD. Just use for text input and browsing.
My problems are finding a user manual/guide, finding any thinkvantage legacy upgrade and, the biggest problem is auto rotate and tablet interface buttons don't seem to be working.
Looking on Lenovo sites hasn't been helpful in finding any of this information or solutions. It may be obsolete and unavailable.
can I download button drivers from anywhere? Any other solutions you can help with are appreciated.

    Hi syrahnose,
Here's your Hardware Maintenance Manual and here's a Service and Troubleshooting Guide .
You could also run TVSU and see if it comes up with anything for your tablet.
There are quite a lot of guides and manuals here .
    Regards,
    Dave
Edit:  Windows 8 should run fine on your machine. I'm running Windows 8 on a non-tablet x61 and it runs fine.

  • Auto-rotate D4S files and sharpening

Two questions: Bridge CC does not auto rotate my D4S files on import. It does rotate my D300s files. I have updated and installed the latest camera raw plug in.
Second issue I have sharpening applied to preview images only in preferences. Sharpening is only applied when image is opened in ACR not in the bridge preview window?

Bridge CC does not auto rotate my D4S files on import. It does rotate my D300s files.
This is not an auto feature of Bridge but has to be set to on in the camera software, check your D4s manual for this, it should provide you with several options. The camera writes metadata to the file, Bridge reads this and applies the rotation from the info of the metadata
Second issue I have sharpening applied to preview images only in preferences. Sharpening is only applied when image is opened in ACR not in the bridge preview window?
It should be the other way round, by default it is a reasonable subtle setting and very useful to judge the previews better for sharpness. There are tons of books written about sharpening but personally I only apply sharpness at the end of the process, I certainly would not use ACR sharpness settings at the start of processing the file in PS.
If your camera has been set to auto rotate and your sharpness at preview only is double checked to be set to on then it might be needed to reset your Bridge preferences. Restart Bridge holding down option key (Mac) or ctrl (win) and choose reset preferences and try again.

  • Auto Rotate Disable for Photos ....... Sort-of ..... Trick / Tip

I have many photos and many are in the wrong Rotation in my Ipod and wanted to disable the Auto-Rotate feature but no luck since Apple forgot to Add the feature to turn it off.......(STUPID APPLE) but no worries, Apple will add it to a future update and charge you for it!.
But I have found an easy way to show off my photos in the right orientation and disabling/tricking the feature momentarily and Here is how I do it:
Open the Photo you desire that has the wrong orientation.
Hold the Ipod/Iphone in the orientation where the Photo is in the right Position,( i.e: if your photo is in landscape while holding it in the upright position.).
All you have to do now is, with two fingers touch and hold near the bottom of the screen as close to the edge of the Ipod/Iphone as you can, so you can still see 95% of the Photo and then Rotate to the right orientation and there you go! your photo remains and does not Auto Rotate, keep holding until you have shown the photo to your friends.
All this does is to freeze the photo, simply put, it is thinking you are either enlarging or going to the next photo, it doesn't disable the feature it is simply waiting for you to make a decision.

As of 10.1.2 we no longer talk about "auto-rotate and center". Page scaling for 1-up output is always registered to the center point, and the new dialog only refers to orientation.
Ultimately of you want a page to be printed at 100% physical scale, you need to supply users with a PDF that has the correct paper size and margins wide enough to stay within their printer working zones. In that case, the setting for scale and rotate is meaningless, as "fit", "shrink" and "actual" will all equal 100%. If the paper size matches, rotating a page has no bearing on the X/Y position - it's there to handle cases where the document is portrait but the printer tray is landscape, or vice-versa. If for example you open a US Letter portrait page and "force" it to print in landscape to a printer with a portrait feed tray, it is not rotated and squished into the middle of the page - aside from coming out the machine sideways it'll look no different.

  • Auto Rotate Nikon .nef files

    Hello everyone,
I found this topic (archived) ... I would like to re-open the issue.
"Topic : Auto-rotate images on import, AP 2.0"
The topic, closed with people saying that it worked if you plugged the camera to the computer.
It still doesnt seem to solve the issue if we use a normal USB Card Reader for the SD Cards.
I have a Nikon D80 ... and I put the cards in a Card Reader (its easier to have the card reader, than the usb cable around !).
Auto Rotate of the .Nef files, does not work. No Exif info either.
    Any ideas ?
    Regards

Look -- this is simple: Camera RAW 2.3 broke Auto-Rotation and recognition of duplicates if images remain on a card after previously capturing them. This has been confirmed and a bug report filed by a number of people. Shortly we should expect a new camera RAW update. CRAW 2.3 also impacted iPhoto in similar ways.
I have not found any EXIF data to be missing.
In the meantime I have found it only a minor inconvenience, and continue to use Aperture 2.1.2 to good advantage.

  • Rotation and zoom file option missing.

I have 2 Ausu tablets and downloaded Skype. One has the auto rotate and zoom file and the other does not. Both were set up the same way. How do i get this file on fhe one that does not have it? Sweetpea338 has the same problem with a Motorola.

I had the same strange problem. Fixed it by reinstalling skype. When you run skype for the first time after the reinstallation, answer "cancel" when asked if you would like video calls to be enabled. Enable it later through the settings interface. You should see the zoom and rotate option there this time around.

  • Yoga 2 Pro tent mode and auto-rotate not working

I have had a Yoga 2 Pro since June. Recently the Tent mode and auto-rotate features do not work.
When I put the Yoga 2 Pro into Tent mode the keyboard and touch pad are still active underneth. However, they shutoff when in tablet mode. Lenovo Transition starts automatically and is running.
Auto-rotate does not work at all now. The screen is un-locked.

  • How come auto-rotate sometimes works, and then stops working until i reboot?

I am going to be as specific as possible simply because some people seem to have similar problems, but mostly they just can't get it to rotate. I have a 6, and for whatever reason it is finicky with auto rotating after going into an app. Say i am in messages in portrait mode and i exit in portrait mode. When i go back in in landscape mode it won't rotate without me first putting the phone into portrait, allowing the gyro (or whatever controls this) to reset, and then rotating it back to landscape. However, if i reboot the phone, it will work without issue for a short while, automatically detecting which mode it's in and adjusting itself accordingly, until it stops working again. This happens with most pre-installed apps like Messages, Safari, and Mail. Any help would be appreciated. I also get freeze ups from time to time while typing, where the screen isn't responsive at all after switching modes, so i have to rotate, and then back again to get the keyboard to accept entries.

The issue turned out to be the mouse.  It was somehow shorting the USB ports.  I tried a different mouse from restart rather than only after the problem began.

  • Auto rotate N97

I got another N97 today. My old one would auto rotate the screen when turned. But the new one does not, it onle does when you open it. I have tried looking to see if I can find a setting to change, but no luck.

  • N97 accelerometer auto rotate

My query is regarding autorotate of n97. In my N97, while rotating the screen first go blank and then rotates the menu. however in some demo videos I have seen it rotate like Iphone, displaying the movement of the menu and not going blank. ??
    How can i change this??

Disable autorotate -- it does prevent screen from blanking. It's sad users have to use such trick -- this kind of bugs shouldn't escape beta testing.
What annoys me the most with autorotate [apart from no promised eye-candy] is that I cannot have a screen properly rotated when I turn my phone clockwise. Why not, Nokia? Apart from being easier for a left-hand person to rotate clockwise, there's no reason for people to force them to do a 180 turn when the phone is rotated they way Nokia considers wrong.
I'm not writing about sliding the keyboard out, it's obvious you cannot rotate "the other way" in this situation.
Why not make it "Autorotate 360" checkbox in Sensors setting?
This is one of many usability challenges [read "failures"] of N97...
