N97 & BH-804 noise

Has anyone experienced a loud buzzing noise upon dialing out on the BH-804 bluetooth headset? I have used this same headset on my N95 8gb with no problems, but on the N97 it's giving me problems...???
I have updated to the V2.0 on the software.
Also, don't know why my phone restarts sometimes. I just got it and last night when I using PC Suite to sync my messages and calendar it just restarted!
Is the phone supposed to have some kind of sensor to turn off the screen if you answer your calls with the phone? Mine doesn't do that. My old 5800 did! All of my sensor settings are turned on. And is it supposed to automatically dim when the surrounding gets darker? Mine doesn't...
This could be changes or problems...I'm not sure at this point...

Turns out it was my silly mistake.
The headset was not in discoverable mode (which is blue light flashing quickly, not green light).
Once it was in discoverable mode with 5 mins of trial and error it was up and running.
sorry to waste your time and thank you for making me try harder.

  • BetweenFilter is not working properly

    Hi,
    Im using a NamedCache, which contains a hashmap. One of the key will be the userid and other key will be the created time of the data.
    I want to filter the data based on the two different times and need to get the map values between the start time and end time.
    Filter query = new BetweenFilter(IdentityExtractor.INSTANCE,startTime,endTime);
    Set<String> entKeySet = (Set<String>)entCache.keySet(query);
    This query is not working for the below set of data
    Map cacheMap = new HashMap();
    HashMap testMap = new HashMap();
    List ents = new ArrayList();
    ents.add("806");
    ents.add("804");
    ents.add("338");
    ents.add("805");
    ents.add("339");
    ents.add("802");
    npnxCacheMap.put("TEST,,AAA,111,NP", ents);
    cacheMap .put("test01",testMap );
    cacheMap .put("CREATED TIME",new java.util.Date());
    NamedCache entCache = CacheFactory.getCache("ENT CACHE");
    entCache.put("TEST,,AAA,111",cacheMap );
    If CREATED TIME is "07/05/2011 10:20:30:0857"
    I gave the starttime as "07/05/2011 10:00:00:0000" and endtime as "07/05/2011 10:30:00:0000"
    But it is not giving the matched key set.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    looking at your code, I have the following notes:
    Map cacheMap = new HashMap();
    HashMap testMap = new HashMap(); // noise
    List ents = new ArrayList();              // noise
    ents.add("806");                            // noise
    ents.add("804");                            // noise
    ents.add("338");                            // noise
    ents.add("805");                            // noise
    ents.add("339");                            // noise
    ents.add("802");                            // noise
    npnxCacheMap.put("TEST,,AAA,111,NP", ents); // not declared
    cacheMap .put("test01",testMap );   // noise
    cacheMap .put("CREATED TIME",new java.util.Date()); // not checked as you use an IdentityExtractor
    NamedCache entCache = CacheFactory.getCache("ENT CACHE");
    entCache.put("TEST,,AAA,111",cacheMap ); // you put a HashMap to the cache...
    Filter query = new BetweenFilter(IdentityExtractor.INSTANCE,startTime,endTime); // this tries to use the cached value as a Date
    Set<String> entKeySet = (Set<String>)entCache.keySet(query);As far as I see, your cache contains a HashMap as a cached value. That is not really comparable with a Date, so it won't really fall between the specified range, so it is not going to give you the expected key back.
    Best regards,

  • Rattle noise inside my N97. Is it normal?

    Hi, I just noticed that there is rattle noise inside my N97 when I shake it in vertical direction (portrait position). The noise stopped when I shake it with the touch screen panel sliding out. Just worry if something is broken inside. Is it normal? Does it happen to your N97?

    Yeah, that came with my N97 along with many of my friends as well. I do not know if it's normal, but it doesn't seem to affect anything regarding the phone's functions. I mean it works great and the noise is only there when I shake my phone real hard. so it's not a problem I guess, though if it's bothering you, you should get it checked and see if it needs to be repaired.

  • Satellite P10-804: AC adapter makes loud noises

    The power supply is periodically making terrible noises.
    Can it be replaced with a non Toshiba power adaptor ?
    If yes, is there anything I need to know ?

    Looks like an AC adaptor would be faulty or maybe its only a broken cable.
    However, you should not use an AC adaptor which malfunctions. Its too risky
    So I would recommend using an original Toshiba AC adapter. In such case you are always on the safe side.
    You could use the PA3290U-1ACA AC Adapter 120W with 19V DC output

  • N97: Noise Issue

    When the plastic back is rubbed on my device, it affects the audio quality of the transmitter. It sounds exactly like wind coming through a BT headset. If any part of the plastic parts are rubbed, brushed against and or touched while a call is connected, noise ends up in the mic and audio output. To check, make a call to any device. Rub or scratch the back of the device with your fingernail and listen for noise on the other end. I need to know whether this is isolated to just my device or if it's a design issue. Thanks, cmcken1

    Has anyone tested this out yet? I would like someone to test it out on thier device. If you would, could you please post back the results. I would like to know whether before my return period ends. If there's a problem with my device I need to exchange it for another one ASAP.

  • N97, strange noise inside the phone

    Hei,
    today I noticed a strange noise when waving the phone. It was heard behind the camera.
    The noise was  heard after taking the battery, sim & SD card away, but not when the key pad was opened.
    It sounds like something were lose inside the phone.
    So went to Nokia service point. There we noticed that the other two 97's, that they had there,  had the same noise although not so loud as in mine.
    The service guy had not noticed the same before and told me to wait until he gets more information.
    Has some of you the same problem?
    N900, N95

    I hear a strange noise in my phone too. After a bit of testing I realised that something is moving slightly only when the phone's keyboard is closed. When you open the keyboard and shake the phone, nothing is heard. I suppose the plastic hinges thingy mechanism that holds the keyboard makes the noise and when the keybord is close its a bit loose and makes the sound. I also think that this is the reason why on some phone the vibtation sound weird- cause this plastic thing rattles about when the phone is vibrating.
    Can someone confirm this?

  • Noise on call

    Hello, it is my first post so welcome everybody :-)
    I have a problem with my Nokia N97 mini, when I call there is quite loud noise, a sort of beeping. On the screen there is a volume icon showing but I cannot switch ot off. I hope I am clear about my problem :-)
    Any advice, what that could be???
    Many thanks

    Hi Ella75
    Thank you for posting and welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
    Try to restore the factory settings of your phone, this reset will not delete any data saved on your phone but any personalization you've made will restore back to default. Go to Menu > Settings> Phone > Phone Management > Factory Settings, if prompted for a lock code, enter 12345 unless you changed it.
    If in case that will not work, use Nokia Suite to check if there's software update available for your phone. You may refer on this link: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/belle-asha-symbian-software-update/ if you need a guide. If there's no software update available, try to re-install it's software.

  • Nokia N97 Mini - Pictures / Video - Disable

    Hey, I recently got my Nokia N97 Mini, And im just wondering if its possible to disable the Camera Shutter noise whenever your taking a picture, And is it possible to turn off the Red Light when recording?
    Its annoying when im trying to record something, Sometimes it will reflect off surfaces.. Also the Camera Shutter noise is annoying.. Interrupts silence when i want to take pictures , At special events..
    Is there a way to Disable these 2 things? Thanks!

    No you can't do any of these things! It is for some privacy reasons we can't do it. Let others also know what you are clicking and shooting
    Please thank me by giving 'KUDOS' star. It will help me to serve you better.

  • The most worrying aspect of the N97

    The N97 is the opposite of everything that it supposedly advertises itself as. My handset has developed yet another bug. Whenever i receive an incoming call, a volume slider bar appears and fluctuates up and down, whilst emitting an horrendous " Beeping " noise, which usuually results in the call being terminated.
    I was just thinking of this....
    Surely the most worrying aspect of the unit's unreliability, is the fact that 02, and Orange refused to stock it, and the handset is only ever available as a "Sim-Free"option via Phones4u/Carphone Warehouse, with both parties supplying the network sim.
    I believe T-Mobile, Vodafone and Three stock the units, and am led to believe by friends that work in Mobile-Retail, that large quantities of N97's have been returned.

    I was told by orange customer service that the N97 failed their testing twice but the advisor could not be specific as to exact reasons. Have to say that to date mine has been ok in the main with just the occasional minor niggle, but I had the same experience with my N95 8gig and nokia sorted it. I am keeping my fingers crossed they do the same with the N97 too.

  • Nokia N97 - No Text Message Notification and a Few...

    I love my nokia n97, but i'm rapidly falling out of love with it, i have owned it since the end of august and this is the first time i have really hit a major problem with it.
    The main problem being is, that the phone no longer gives me a text message notification or noise in that it being on the home screen it does say "1 new message" and i have to constantly have my inbox open to see when i have a new message and constantly check it all the time, for a person who is texting constantly this is probably one of the most annoying problems. If it makes any odds its using the mass memory.
    I called the support line and have tried the following:
    - Upgraded the firmware (no effect)
    - Hard reset the phone (without the backed up data on it, the text message notification works, after placing data back on it, problem comes along again)
    - Cleared cache (no different)
    - Hard reset the phone and restored data on phone without the settings (this has worked for a while, less than a day, and is now playing up again)
    Along with a few other problems that have started which i am confused whether it is the actual application or my phone that is the issue with this:
    Facebook - No longer works proberly, freezes regulary, excessively slow at loading any content up.
    AccuWeather - Can never find my location through gps and sometimes unable to load data for a pre-set location.
    -At points through the day i do get error messages too that don't really make much sense, "cannot retrieve data" "error" and "internal error, reset phone"
    Also when hard resetting the phone the second time round, originally built in applications disappeared so i had to re-download them through Ovi Store again.
    Other problems include phone basically freezing regulary mainly on startup, and start up time being long before it lets me push a button, and loading content for the homescreen, the 3 widgets and the speed-dail take excessively longer than they use tooo.
    My phone is suppose to be getting 'repaired' within 48 hours, is this true? I got told by a friend that his took 2 weeks+.
    Or a replacement and how does this work and who is responsible for giving me a replacement. (Nokia, t-mobile, mobilephonesdirect?)
    Could all these problems be linked back to a faulty sim card?
    What on earth has happened to my phone, is this fixable, isit a software bug that cannot be sorted, why has this happened, why now, i have never run into any problems before?
    Is there something in the data, i can't think of anything, if so what?
    This problem started totally randomly?
    Isit somesort of weird memory issue?
    If i was to get a new phone, will i not run into the same problem again, what happens if i do? Do they keep replacing it or fixing it all the time?
    Sorry for a long post, hope someone here can help......

    N97 is going back in again today for them to confirm it is un-repairable and then they are going to send me out a new one.
    The guy said it was a software issue which was caused by t-mobile putting their own software on the phone, which is absolutely stupid, if operator's software is going to cause a phone to malfunction, then don't let it on!!!

  • N97 speakers are an embarrassment for an Nseries. ...

    I had read on All About Symbian in his loud speaker test, that the N97 was pitiful compared to the 5800 and the N95. I couldn't come to terms with that assessment on the basis that surely Nokia wouldn't put lousy speakers on their flagship. Boy was I wrong. After comparing it side by side with my N95-3, I totally hear what Rafe, Chris from Engadget, and others are saying about the speakers. They can't hold a candle to the N95-3 or the 5800 (best I've ever heard). It's not even close. They're incredibly tinny, unclear, and not nearly as loud. I don't get it. I've done everything to adjust the sound from the equalizer, which for some reason hardly changes the sound output compared to my N95, to trying the loudness and stereo widening, and still it sounds bad. How is it possible that they're the same size as the 5800's yet they sound worse? Could they have used different speakers? Better yet, is it possible to address this issue with a firmware update, or are we all screwed? I assume everybody else feels the same way here about them. If only they could get it on par with the sound output through the headphone jack, which is amazing, it would be perfect.
    I really wish consumers in the US knew about the power of the Nseries and Eseries lines, instead of living in the carrier bubble that they do.

  • N8 background noise problem with Philips SHE9850

    I just bought N8 to replace my 5800XM. N8 is good so far until I plug in the ear phone which I used from my 5800XM time, Philips SHE9850.
    The problem is I used this earphone from the time that I still use 5800XM and it works great. No noise at all.
    Now, when you play any sound from N8 (anything from clicking menu button, play movie, listen to music, play games etc). It produces static noise that is very noticeable/annoying in the earphone (since Philips SHE9850 has quite low impedance so you will know right away). Especially, the dialogue (speech) or the quiet part of the song. When you slide the side button to lock the screen, after it goes dim, the noise goes away even the music still playing which is so strange.
    Do any of you have similar problem like me? I am going to visit Nokia Shop that I bought the phone on this Friday and test with the demo phone. Don’t know what will be the result but I am so disappoint with this issue. If you have any experience, please share with me. Thanks.

    You guys are worrying me. My N97 has top notch audio output. If N8 has worse, I don't want it.
    I remember that N95 had similiar issue when screen was turned on.
    I was getting a slight pop/hiss on my N97-00 when each MP3 loaded.  The same behavior exists on the N8.  Could it simply be something to do with the way the codec is utilized by the phone.  I didn't find it that distracting.

  • N97 headset problem

    I received a headset with my new N97. I need help, because I can use it to hear music, but cannot make phone calls.
    I cannot hear the other side as they hear me well.
    It seems the hardware - I mean the headset - is OK.
    What is the problem? I set the voice level to maximum on my phone and I can hear some noise, but it is useless.
    Please help as I not find anything about it in the manual.
    Thanks!

    3 days but still no response. Anyways, I had my device taken to the local Nokia Care Outlet. It appears as though it was some hardware issue and I shall have my handset repaired in about a week. Since the warranty is still active, no problems what-so-ever.
    Thanks for OR whatever ! Expected better from this forum....

  • N97 firmware bugs

    Hi all,
    I updated my N97 to firmware v2 and it experienced the no ring and impossible call problem.
    So I did a hard reset that fixed the problem but since then, the phone act strangly:
    the screen light itself every about 10 or 20 min!
    it is impossible to connect the phone to wifi.
    I try to soft reset, hard reset, I format the mass memory, I reinstall the firmware, but with no result.
    It seems that it is impossible to change the firmware back.
    So a hard reset does not bring the phone back to factory settings because the firmware is still v2.
    Does anyone has an idea?
    Please help me.
    Flyingd.

    My bugs are as follows for version 12.0.024
    -Cutting numbers with the internatioal extention within the contacts renders them un-pasteable losing the important contacts.
    -changing the predictive txt word within the writer then adding grammer like the question mark copys the word twice and adds them on to your text. Also, when you hit plus button to add a symbol it changes the text to the next word and upon pressing back-space it refuses to acknowledge it for change back forcing you to delete the word and rewrite it!
    -The fataly flawed lens cover.
    -After accidentally adding my country wrong at the begining I was unable to change it with out a hard reset and resultantly was consistently redirected to a foreign language version of the websites i wanted to view.
    -The facebook widget never showed any updates on the main page.
    -Can not scroll sideways through the photos like the n97 making navigation slow and cumbersome.
    -Horrendous ovi store excuse for an application store
    -The web browser sometimes refuses to get past the white screen during its startup (since the hard reset this hasn't happened, although it has only been 1 day).
    -The drawings saved with a messy noise around all the lines drawn.
    -Guitar game has no audio even when audio option is set to on.
    -Guitar game is gone after hard reset (among other things)
    Perhaps one or two of these might be my own doing, I restored a backup of my n95 data, user files, contacts, bookmarks, settings, calender, notes and messages before I even used it  (this was the only way to get my contacts back for me)
