N97 Blocked on the Opening Nokia white screen

Hello guys, i have seen a post like this here but couldn't find it. My phone is blocked on the opening screen...
if i remove the battery it goes off.. i put the batt again and turned it on...
opens the white pages and gets stuck there...
tried to charge it... and the problem still persists..
what should i do...????
i need help.... please...
this phone is really a failure.... i should have bought an iPhone..

Do you have an extra memorycard in the phone?
If you do and have an old backup copy on it, it may cause problems like that!!
I´ve experienced the same white Nokia screen and I tried to take out the battery but I didn´t get the phone to work again.
Take out the memorycard!!! I did that and then I formatted the memorycard in my computer before I put it back again...
Hope it works for you!

This can also be a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

    Hi aldamtgf,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If Messages is only displaying a white screen when you open it, first force close the application using this method:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
These steps come from this article:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If Messages still does not open normally, restart your iPhone next:

  • Since updating the software on my iPhone 3gs it has developed the so called "white screen of death". The phone has not been dropped or damaged in anyway, the problem only developed after software upgrade. Rung apple and they were less than helpful

since updating my iphone 3gs software it has developed the so called "white screen of death" this happened immediately after software install. It has never been dropped or damaged. I have tried the solution which seems to pop up most of holding down the power button and the home button for 10 seconds but this hasnt helped at all. Tried ringing apple, who were less than helpful and disinterested as the phone is out of warranty. I am hoping there is a solution which doesnt mean shelling out for a new phone! any ideas?

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
    Try all of these.
    If these fail, then:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

    mellosteve,
This isn't a known issue with the device so I am surprised that you are having these issues. When you first noticed the issue, was anything else done on the device at that time? Any new apps added, etc? Let's try to put the phone into Safe Mode and test. If it works while in Safe Mode, we will know it could be a 3rd party app causing the static. Here are the steps to put the phone into Safe Mode: http://vz.to/1MrjzMg

  • Adobe Windows Fireworks CS5 opens to white screen

I had Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium installed and working fine for over a year. All of a sudden today when I click the icon to open Fireworks it opens to a blank screen "white".
I can see my icons for Windows 7 at the bottom but nothing but a white screen. It appears Dreamweaver is doing the same. I tried uninstalling FW and re-install and the problem
    continues. Help

I checked the above article and it wasn't relevant to the problem stated at the beginning of this article, first off that person was using an iPad (there is no blue icon on the right side of the browser window on a computer) and 2nd, what is needed is preventing small images opening in full screen mode instead of the image loading in screen the same size as the image. The above article shows how to get in and out of full screen mode but that doesn't address the issue in the original post because the image is still placed on a too large screen. When the image is only 3x2 inches you don't need the page opening as large as a full size screen on a 27" monitor. When that happens you have to click on the tiny, miniscule, hardly attainable 1 pixel spot at the lower right corner of the screen and resize the page manually so it doesn't take up the whole screen so you can see the other documents. when you are opening multiple images this is very annoying.
I have trouble believing that Adobe techs haven't found a solution to this issue since Sept 2011 when the first post on this issue was posted above.

  • My iMac doesn't load past the start up white screen and doesn't reach the login screen.

I'm having issues trying to load my iMac up after i had to to shut it down the other day. when i start it up it makes the chirme
and reaches the white screen with the loading symbol but doesn't move on from there! Doesn't anyone know how to fix this to get to the login screen?

    Reinstall Lion.
    Reinstalling Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Opens with white screen

When laptop turns on it opens to a white screen.
    Can I reboot?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. The easiest way to deal with the problem is to start up from an external drive, or else to use either of the techniques in Steps 1b and 1c to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 10. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 10
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 11
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 12
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Why is there a grey block on the bottom of my screen in safari and i cant see the top of my screen in full screen mode?

When I put the window into full screen mode a gray block appears across the bottom of the screen. Thus the top of any given web page is truncated upward and I cannot access anything...But if I minimize the view what was once unavailable reappears.
Is there a way to get rid of this gray block?

Provide computer and OS version info and maybe we can help. Phone and iOS stuff tells us nothing useful.

  • I have the so called white screen of death. I am able to get into OS X Utility. I have verified disk and disk is ok. I am trying to reinstall Maverick, but i don't have enough space. Dilemma is i cannot get onto my computer to delete data for more space.

I have the white screen of death, but am able to get into OS X utilitites. I have verifed disk and it's ok. I am trying to reinstall mavericks, but i don't have enough disk space. Dilemma is i can't get onto computer to delete files to create space.

    Upgrade iPhoto:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • My Imac won't start, just get the chime and white screen.

I tried holding command R but nothing happens, just a white screen! What can I try next?
I don' t know what model or OS I have...should dig out my paperwork...

Thanks SO MUCH!  I am having nightmares about all that could be lost.  If the fan can be fixed, then I can cope with the backing up and maybe relieve the hard drive so it gets faster.  As Murphy's law would have it, I just bought an external drive but haven't had a chance to set it up to automatically back up.  Your reply makes me feel much better... There is hope that I can lip along with this old iMac until I can afford a new one.

  • I am trying to install bootcamp with windows xp professional on my macbook core duo. This is my first mac and i just purchased it. The disk will partition but when i try to start the installer a white screen appears then a folder with a ? in it appears

I just recently purchased this macbook. The optical drive was faulty, i opened it up and rubbed alcohol on the lens and that didnt work. I connected an old ide dvd rw drive in a 3.5 enclosure and it seems to work like a charm. I installed snow leopard with it so i know that it is in complete working order. I also upgraded the ram so that should not be an issue either. This is a first generation macbook 1.1 with the core duo processor. I just want to install my xp professional operating system onto this unit. I have the original xp professional disk with service pack 2, not a burned iso. When i try to launch the windows installer the dvd drive fires up and it seems like its attempting to launch windows then the screen goes from bright white to a folder with a question mark on it. From there nothing happens. Is there something i can do or that i am missing here?

Your problem is not Boot Camp, in fact, is your optical drive. Win XP requires indeed sp2, but also the internal drive, does not work from external optical drive.
For other possible tricks, please use the appropriate Boot Camp forum, not here. Mac OS X may be installed from both external and internal optical drive and/or internal/external partition of a disk, any disk. Windows is not so generous.

  • I have a iPod touch 5th generation and when i turn on the device, its white screen with black lines and different colors

I can turn off the device naturally. But when i turn it on it shows all white with black lines and different colors. Is my LCD screen broken? If it is, can apple fix it?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    If not covered by warranty
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.
