N97 Bluetooth n Modem

Please I know definitely that n97 have bluetooth and modem.I have one but i cant find them, please any help?

Bluetooth is at Settings>Connectivity>bluetooth. For modem you have 2 options. First is to run Nokia Suite on your pc, connect phone to pc using usb cable and follow Nokia Suite menu. Second is to download an app called Joikuspot which will turn your phone into a hotspot.

  • Blackberry as a Bluetooth Wireless Modem

I want to set up my Blackberry 8703e as a bluetooth wireless modem. i have researched this and found many pages so far but still struggle putting the whole connection together. Has anyone done this? Any pro tips?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
All indications are that the RIM Blackberry 8703e does not support the Bluetooth DUN profile required to enable dial up networking, or what some refer to as 'tethering' by Bluetooth. This Verizon-supplied chart specifically indicates that the Bluetooth DUN profile is not present on or support for your device:

  • Using N97 as a modem

When i try to use my N97 as a modem for my laptop i wont connect unless i make a backup first.
I doesn't matter what data i do a backup off but i have to do it to make the phone connect to the internet.
Wierd but that's the way it is.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

The easiest way as described is to use PC Suite or Ovi Suite, connect by usb inPC Suite mode and simply select'connect to the internet', I've never had a problem with this method and find usb gives the fastest connection. It may help to start afresh and remove all the access points on your computer to avoid conflict (just the mobile modem ones, not your home or works wlan) and you shouldn't have a problem !
    Good Luck

Can I use a Nokia C2-01 as bluetooth 3G modem for an iPad 2?
I asked the same to Nokia support, and they told me that the iPad should be compatible with one of the following profiles: "A2DP, AVRCP 1.0, DUN, FTP, GAP, GAVDP, GOEP, HFP, HSP, OPP, PAN, PBAP 1.0, SAP, SDAP, SPP 1.0".
         I just didn't get it ._.

Yes. Download Nokia Suite. Then connect your phone to the pc via Nokia Suite. Define proper access points. Then you will be able to use the phone as modem.
Please mark the post as solution if it solves your problem.

  • MacBook Pro, BlueTooth Fax Modem with Treo 700p EVDO

MacOSX 10.4.6 w/ all of the latest Software Updates.
    I followed the steps below:
    1. In System Preferences, go to Print & Fax
    2. Open the Printer Browser (click "+" in the Printing tab)
    3. Option-click on "More Printers"
    4. Select "Advanced" in the popup list
    5. Select "Bluetooth-modem" from the "Device" popup that appears
    6. Select "Other" from the "Printer Model" menu
    7. In the "Choose file" dialog go to System>Library -> Frameworks -> ApplicationServices.framework -> Frameworks -> PrintCore.framework -> Resources -> English.lproj -> Fax.ppd. Note that you can replace English.lproj with the language of your choice.
    8. Finally, click Add
Then to FAX...I did the following...
    Texedit.App
    File -> Print...
and selected the PDF Fax Option.
It acted like it was dialing the fax number (xxx-xxx-xxxx), the Treo 700p lit up like it was receiving the commands, but nothing happened. I couldn 't even get it to dial a normal PSTN number.
Is there something else I need to do?

Apparently there is a fee for using any Treo device as a modem through both Verizon and Sprint. While the easy connectivity of Bluetooth is attractive, most people are interested in attaching the Treo via USB for the data speed transfer factor. After heavy research to attempt to connect my iBook G4 to the internet via the Treo 700p without having to pay Verizon's $15 surcharge, I came across USB Modem. USB Modem supports connecting your Mac to the Internet using the Treo 600, 650 and 700p. And instead of paying $15 monthly, this application is only $25 and offers a free trial to make sure it is compatible with your phone and Mac. But FYI...you have to have the 700p to take advantage of the EVDO broadband network.

    Thanks!

similar problem- since upgrading to iPhone 6 I can't connect with my JBL Charge speaker- the phone searches but can't seem to find it. I was able to pair the phone with my car. I've tried resetting the network setting, turning off and on the bluetooth button. Any other suggestions?

  • N97 as a modem (speed)

I have a N97 that i use as modem for my laptop.
I have a problem with the speed, i only get 460 kbit/s. Is there som kind of setting so i can get higher speed? I think the phone is bulit for 3.2 Mbit/s.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The 460.8 Kbps isn't the speed at which your modem (N97) is connecting to the GPRS network. It's the link speed at which the computer is communicating with the modem. The actual speed at which you are connected to the GPRS network can be calculated using online tools as this:-
    http://www.auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp
(make sure you have the latest Java runtime installed on the computer, get it from www.java.com if you don't, this speed test won't run without java)
And as for changing the local link speed (which in your case is 460.8 Kbps), you CAN increase it.
Connect your phone to the computer, don't dial the GPRS connection (don't connect to the internet, just connect the phone to the PC)
Assuming you use windows XP, click on
    START--->>CONTROL PANEL----->PHONE AND MODEM OPTIONS
On the window that appears, click on the "MODEMS" tab on top.
Select "Nokia N97 USB Modem" (in some cases "Nokia USB modem"), and click on "PROPERTIES" at the bottom right corner (just above the "APPLY" button)
On the window that appears, click on the "MODEM" tab on top again, the second option would be a drop down menu called "MAXIMUM PORT SPEED", in your case it would be 460800.
Select the highest possible speed from the drop down menu, and click on "ok" to close the "nokia N97 USB Modem properties" , and again on "ok" to close the "phone and modem options" window.
Dial up to the internet, and it would show a higher speed. Keep in mind that this IS NOT the actual speed at which you are connecting to the internet. Although it'd show a higher speed now, but you would still be connecting at the speed which you receive from your service provider.

  • N97 as a modem. how?

    hi everyone,
i'm trying to connect my dell laptop to internet using my n97 mini as a modem, but it doesn't work.
pc suite says manage to do the connection, and also windows 7 sees it, but says "no internet access"
anyone could give me an help, please?

All I do is use either PC Suite or Ovi Suite connected by usb and select 'connect to the internet' and it works ! Maybe worth cleaning out all Nokia/Ovi software and re-installing, or try Joikuspot to set up a wifi hotspot ?

  • Bluetooth Internet Modem (BT PAN)

    Hi,
I have a HTC Touch Dual (T-Mobile/MDA Touch Plus) in the UK and have Web&Walk all set up on it. However much I've tried, search for answer, I still cannot use the phone for bluetooth pan/internet modem on my brand new macbook. (I was able to do it on my iBook, different phone) It was supposed to be easy, just connect internet sharing and it would work, but it's never that simple.
I can connect the two through Windows Mobile 6.1's internet sharing and bluetooth (but only for sharing files). I also have MissingSync if that makes any difference.
I have downloaded Ross Barkman's modem script for Windows Mobiles, (GSM 3.6M) and a application for Bluetooth DUN. Without the bluetooth dun app, when I set up the HTC with my mac will not 'see' the phone's dial up network, I've heard WM6 developers removed bluetooth pan drivers thus the need for app. Don't know why ones pan ones dun.
It automatically sets up it's own modem in network preferences which offers 'configuration, telephone number, account name and password'. I have also tried to configure similar settings through Bluetooth Pan, Bluetooth and PPPoE.
    In network preferences menu:
Several forums use T-Mobile Internet as name, (hash)99* as telephone number, 'guest' as user name and password.
This did not work. I also tried 'general.t-mobile.uk' as the telephone number and 'user', 'wap' as the user name and password respectively.
I also unchecked all the relevant boxes in advanced menu and changed the settings to use Ross's script.
I have also opened new port in the bluetooth phone and edited the serial port in bluetooth settings to show the modem.
But however I try it will not connect to the internet through the phone (turning off airport doesn't help) I always get messages such as 'no carrier detected. Please check phone line connection and try again.'
It could be my mac, it could be the app, the wrong script but it's just not working. I have a hunch it's the settings (either user name, password or telephone number).
It would be better if I could try another Pan application to see thats the problem, but I cannot find any others to download.
I've tried to be as specific as possible, anyone who has this phone on T-mobile (in the UK), has connected the mac to the internet through it and would like to compare settings would be a lifesaver.
    Cheers Ben

I was looking for exact the other way for connection, so I tapped into this Thread. I got a HTC Diamond (from O2 Germany) and got the direction you are looking for pretty easily up and working.
Here is what I did for that direction (Internet sharing using HTC Diamond as modem):
    1. Build the partnership between the HTC and the Mac (10.5)
    2. In the Bluetooth Icon (on the Top bar of MacOSX) you should see your device
    3. There should be at least two items shown if you mouse-select this device. One should be "Connect with Network" (or something similar - in German - Mit Netzwerk verbinden)
    4. This shows that your PDA (HTC) provides Bluetooth-PAN as Service
    5. On the PDA look in your Programs. I have an applicaiton called "Internet Sharing"
    6. In this Application I select "Bluetooth-PAN" as PC-Connection and select my Connection Profile (depends on your provider)
    7. Press on the "Connect" at the lower left corner
    8. Select "Connect with Network" on your Mac in the Bluetooth-Icon in the Menu-Bar under your device
You should now see on your PDA in the Internet-Sharing Application that the connection is established.
Maybe that this helps (even when I'm pretty late here).
    Cheers
    Jochen

  • N97 / bluetooth activation depending on mode

    Hello,
I have a N97 (with Orange french provider) and I have 2 questions regarding bluetooth:
1/ can I link the activation of bluetooth to the activated mode? I mean I want to activate automatically the bluetooth when I'm in "General" mode and when I'm in "Meeting" mode, I want to cut off automatically. Is there a way?
2/ My N97 is well recognized by my car bluetooth system and the phone connection works well. I can also listen the music stored on my phone but I can not change the current album, or artist. I can not even play/stop listening through my car commands. I need to use my phone device for all these things. Is it normal?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi repreggaeman,
    1) As I understand to do this you need additional software, I use "Best Profile" to achieve switching on/off bluetooth when changing profiles. It's actually pretty neat software that allows you to set plenty of other rules. I have it set to change the profile to silent when connected to the charger and then back to normal when disconnected.
It's available on Ovi store but I had problems with this one as it was the version for S60 3rd ed. handsets. The Ovi Store support was no help with resolving this but I contacted the developer (www.smartphoneware.com) and they provided me with the correct version.
    2) Sorry, can't help with this one.
    Cheers,

  • N97 Bluetooth is currently switched off.Switch On...

My N97 always prompts me to turn bluetooth on or off even though i have it turned off in the connectivity settings. Here and then i get a prompt saying "Last devices used" and it shows all the phones i shared bluetooth with before even when bluetooth is off and i dont have any device with bluetooth turned on near the phone. This happens a lot especially after coming from standby. My N97 also asks me "Allow content to connect to internet?" even though i have sellected on the home screen to turn contents to offline mode.I wonder what programs are trying to connect either by bluetooth or network because i cant find them in the 'show open apps'.The other thing is it can turn off and restart by itself here and there?Any solutions or should i take it back?Bought it in AUS.

    I found this solution works:
    shnarzan :
Your phone is looking for an external Bluetooth GPS receiver. I don't have an E63 per se, but you can turn off the Bluetooth positioning method and you should stop seeing all the pop-ups.
In the settings / control panel app, look for "Positioning". (It might be under "General".) After you find and open "Positioning", open "Positioning methods" and uncheck the Bluetooth GPS option. Select the Back option and exit the settings app. Now you should never see the Bluetooth pop-up with Maps again.

  • N97 Bluetooth earpiece echoes

Hi does anyone know if the N97 handles bluetooth any differently to N95 ?
I have used a N95 and Samsung WEP-200 headset without any problems for around 2 years, but now I have the N97 every call I make or receive with the WEP-200 I get complaints of echoes, sometimes so bad I have no choice but to use the handset !
Could this be a fault or compatibility issue with the N97 ?
Message Edited by panicbutton on 20-Jul-2009 09:34 PM

There is a slight delay when the phone and headset begin to communicate for A2DP audio. Usually, things like calendar and SMS alerts are too short to be heard in the headset. You'll notice that if you are actively listening to music streaming to the headset from the phone or having a conversation, you will hear the alerts.
If you don't use your headset to stream audio, and only use it for phone calls. Disable A2DP on the headset. You will hear the alerts from the phone speaker in that case. You will probably never get the alerts on the headset unless you're actively listening to something already.

  • N97 Bluetooth Issues

I am unable to connect my Nokia N97 to my Bluetooth handsfree kit (http://caron.manufacturer.globalsources.com/si/6007000216098/pdtl/Bluetooth-handsfree/1001879654/DSP...).
My wifes N97 does not connect either however it works perfectly with my N95 or E71.
    Any ideas?

Newest version of everything what is involved in that.
Did now detect that Broadcom is not listed as compatibel..... but nevertheless, everything else is working fine. It is only the synch, and it feels like a wrong setting somewhere in the bluetooth area...
It is definitly not a timeout.... it needs only one second after pressing the synch-button, and immediatly the software says that the phone is not responding.....
