if its dust on the internal lens you will need to go to a nokia care point to have it sorted dont attempt to clean it or open up the phone yourself or warranty will be void
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • N97 Camera image problem

Ive had the N97 for 2 months now with various problems. Todays new one comes in the form of when i tried to take a picture in low lighting. To the left of the screen when in landscape mode a transparent green half sphere appears when the camera lens focus's ready to take a picture with the flash. When i then take a picture, especially in low light, the sphere/bubble appears in the final picture when the flash is used.
Here are some sample pics, its as if there is a spec of dust on the lens, ive cleaned the lens and the flash but still the problem persists. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks

    @all:
    I did it!
I painted the edge of the cover.
    Works good on my Phone!
    looks like this:
    http://www.jacknet.de/bilder/N97/Linse2.jpg
first I took the TDK Pen:
    http://www.jacknet.de/bilder/N97/Pens.jpg
    It looks like that:
    http://www.jacknet.de/bilder/N97/Pen1_1.jpg
    http://www.jacknet.de/bilder/N97/Pen1_2.jpg
    much better, but slightly there!
After that I took another Pen:
    http://www.jacknet.de/bilder/N97/Pen2_1.jpg
    http://www.jacknet.de/bilder/N97/Pen2_2.jpg
    Seems to be gone!!
Maybe this effect is caused not only by the edge of the cover, but also from little scratches in front of the lens
    which reflect the light!
     http://www.jacknet.de/bilder/N97/Linse1.jpg
when you zoom in, you can see them!
I hope this would help you.
If this affects the guarantee, I can't say!
    So please be careful.
    @Skywatcher:
When you zoom in, the area with the sphere is only cutted, because software-zooming is the same like cutting a Picture after taken it.

  • Nokia n97 camera lens/ can i return it to the stor...

    hi
i just my nokia n97 a few weeks ago and my camera lens is getting scratched because of the camera cover. i searched the site and many people said its a hardware problem, will care centre be able to fix it, or can i go back to the store where i have bought it on a contract and return it for another fone eg. HTC magic.
thanks alot..kinda disappointed for the defect...
    n97.

The lens shutter on a camera is supposed to protect the lens, that why its there. However, in this case the N97, it has a design fault, and as such the shutter is not fit for purpose.
Now, if the shop are unwilling to exchange the device for a device without the flaw demand a refund of your money. If they still refuse to do anything then contact your local trading standards, you will be able to find their address or phone number from the link below.
Its the shops responsiblity to sort this out so don't let them tell you otherwise.

    • If repair and replacement are not possible or too costly, then the consumer can seek a partial refund, if they have had some benefit from the good, or a full refund if the fault/s have meant they have enjoyed no benefit.

  • N97 camera lens slider

hi, recently ive come into a few issues with my N97 and my local nokia care center for that matter.
as far as i am aware, nokia has acknowledged that the earlier model N97 had a design fault with the camera assembly where the lens slider is mounted too close to the glass, and as a result, was easily scratched.
from my research a while ago, nokia acknowledged this and that it would be covered under warranty, and that they would replace the camera assembly with a newer model that doesnt have this issue.
however, my local nokia care centre refuse to acknowledge the issue and has caused my a lot of problems. the first time i brought my phone in, they correctly replaced the camera assembly with the new one. however, they somehow managed to stop the phone from recognising any sim card. so i brought it back in again, and this time they replaced the phone with a blank N97, however, this n97 had firmware issues and had the original camera slider with the design fault, and they continued to act rude and said that i didnt know what i was talking about and continued to insult me stating that it is not an acknowledged issue with the phone.
now, can someone confirm for me, or better yet, supply me with a link about the official nokia statement on this matter?
    thanks
    -Wilson

Since I do not know how you use your phone:
For a normal phone user, no, I would strongly do not recommend it. Many people have have made the mistake of thinking the N900 as being another phone. No it is not. It was intentionally designed for power users and developers. It has more quirks than symbian, and most of the people do not even understand the quirks of symbian to begin with.
I would advise that you wait until the latter part of this year, as the C6 with the Symbian^3 OS is slated to be released, along with the rumored N87 (or N8-00, the prototype code) with a 12mp carl zeiss lens with Symbian^3 as well.
Symbian^3 is a new OS from Symbian, it basically has I think 4 "n97 homescreens" accessible via side swiping and has 3D graphics. Also I think those units would have hardware 3D accelerators.
I'd advise you to google Symbian^3. Meego, the new version of the Maemo on N900 is also slated for release later this year.
On a side note, Nokia really does kick of local franchises for incompetency.

  • The white N97 camera flash problem

Has anyone found a fix yet, for the constant flash glare that plagues photos taken on the white N97? Like when the flash goes off it leaves a bloom of light around the bottom left of the photo? It's a pretty well documented problem. I just wondered if anyone has found a fix? Ta.

Best way to fix the white flash on the N97 is to fix it for once and for all. Put the phone N97 down on a table and find your self a snack and a HAMMER, open your snack  and take a bite, Now this is where the fix begin, hold the hammer above the N97 and then lift it up about 0.5metre then swing it ontop of the N97. Voila!! Once you've done so, your N97 white flash camera problem is now fixed forever.
Be warned, it will only worked once, as you can perminantly put it to off mode.
    All the best, good luck
    lol
This is my only way to fix this particular problem, other wise change your camera

  • N97 camera (lens cover and application issues)

i think these issues are already posted, but no solution as yet.
like everyone i was having scratches near the lens, so i removed the lens cover.
now my camera application doesnt work. i am on v12.
the camera application freezes, ive resintalled the firmware, reseted factory settings, everything !
no luck with starting the camera application.
ps, i even tried attaching the lens cover back, that didnt help either.
    any solutions nokia ????

first of this is a user to user forum. second you voided your warranty by disassembly of your phone. anything to do with disassembly can't really be talked about here as it is against the policy of this forum. camera operation in the case of the n97 is dependent on the lens cover as it communicates to the application what needs to happen. removing it breaks that path of communication. i am sorry but i have no other ideas for you, taking it to nokia care might be your solution but you also might need to pay for repairs due to what you have done on your own to your phone.

  • Problem with Camera lens on 16GB iPhone 3G

So I have a Black 16GB iPhone 3G and was wondering if my iPhone is the only one with the camera lens not sitting flush against the phone. Like when i rub my finger on the lens i can feel the silver circular border being slightly raised more than the black of the phone. So i was if it is a design flaw or bad assembling and was wondering if anybody else has this same "problem"?

It is normal, if anything being lower than the level of the phone is a good way to help eliminate fingerprints and dirt on the lens caused by your fingers and hand.

I have an iphone 4 had it for awhile but yesteday the back camera is blurry. I've had this happen before but it looked like there was steam in the camera lens and I let that air out and it went back to normal. So whats the problem this time? My mom isn't willing to buy me another iphone because before I went to a concert and the speakers messed up half the screen. If its the software acting up can I get a free new one?

Moisture has somehow entered your iPhone and specifically the camera. They will do an out-of-warranty replacement for $149 USD.

  • Camera lens scratches

Is there an ongoing issue with the camera lens on iPhone 4? My husbands lens is very degraded and my phone (only 9 months old) has scratches on the lens despite taking great care of it. Is this repairable and is the issue being resolved with newer models?

I have the same problem. My iPhone 4 takes very cloudly pictures due to so many scratches. I've heard Apple will replace the back panel for $29 (which includes the camera lens) I'm probably going to end up taking it to a Apple store and get it replaced

  • Camera lens now working

BINGO - HAVE FOUND A WAY A WAY OF FIXING CAMERA PROBLEM.
It is not a hardware issue, but a software issue.
Somewhere the camera the settings, have been messed up.
By re-setting from a back up, it only puts back the restored files etc, including the duff camera settings. Only by zeroing the iPhone will this work.
Hiya all, I recently sold my old iPhone 3G to a friend of mine, but I had the problem with the camera lens not opening, the camera application would still work, and sense the orientation of the phone. But it would let me take photos etc.
Before I passed the iPhone to my mate. I ZEROED the phone, by going into Settings/General/Reset, then select ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS.
Make sure you have you iPhone plugged into your computer or mains adapter etc, because this could take up to 2 hours.
This resets all settings to their defaults and erases all your information and media:
And also brings the iPhone back to the state, of when you first purchased the iPhone.
I've only just spoke to my friend who has taken the iPhone from me, and reassures me the camera is now working.

Sounds like a hardware failure to me. I'm sure you've checked the obvious, like something covering the lens.

  • HT201401 Camera lens on iPhone 4 does not open and nothing is visible, although the camera functions normally via MMS only.

The virtual camera lens on my iPhone 4 stays closed when accessing the camera via the camera application. If I use the camera via the MMS messaging feature the camera will operate properly and save any picture to the camera roll.
So, there does not seem to be a hardware problem. The camera works fine except when I use the camera application itself.
I've reset the phone and performed a restore via iTunes, the camera will usually operate normally for a short period and then revert to a state where the camera lens will not open unless accessed by a third party app or via the MMS application.
I deleted any third party applications from the phone just in case there was a conflict, this did not help, the lens remains closed unless accessed by the messaging application or any other third party application.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated as this is a very frustrating problem.

Since Reset is not helping, Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. If this does not fix problem, consider replacing camera or entire iPhone.
