N97 Charging -- Now Won't boot up. [All in a Nig...

Hey guys. Sorry to bring up an old thread. I was charging my phone last night as I went to bed. Woke up in the middle of the night as we do, looked at my phone (to see the time) and I saw that the phone was stuck on the Nokia flash screen (white screen with NOKIA logo). It would not turn on. I kept taking out the battery, putting it back in... Nothing!
So just now I did my 10000th hard reset and now phone works.
Guys, my question is why would the phone reboot itself (apart from RAM issues) and then not turn on again?
I am sick and tired of this phone. It requires 24/7 care like a newborn baby to make sure it works and does not reboot itself or that an application can run (E.g. close others apps to conserve RAM). This isn't kool anymore. It's somewhat  boring!

Any ideas?

  • Imac G3 had clean install OS 10.1; can't install 9.2; now won't boot at all

    Hello,
I was given an older imac G3--has 176 mg ram; 6 gb hard drive. Due to its small memory and the fact my daughter just wanted it for games, I decided to only install OS 10.1, instead of OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.1.5 which I have on my G4.
Then, I found that most of my CD games (no internet access) need Classic to run. So, upon inserting my OS 9.1 disk to install that, I got the message that the firmware needed to be updated; then an error saying I needed installer 4.5.5.
    Two questions:
    1. How do I get around the fact that my firmware needs to be updated but when I boot from a locked disk, I get the error message that firmware updates can't take place due to locked disk.
    2. Now, I can't get it to boot at all into OS X or any disk in the CD drive--I get a screen with a little script that says, "failed to boot, etc., Apple Firmware 3.0 3f built 12/__98
    then (not exact text)
    0 >boot MAC-PARTS: specified partition invalid, etc.
    can't open ide1, etc.
I hooked it up to my other G3 imac and my G4 via ethernet cable but since there's no system accessible, I can't turn on file sharing/Apple talk, etc.
Hoping I'm not the only night owl going round and round with these kind of problems. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you don't mind wiping the hard drive, boot from the 10.1 installer disk and install the 9 drivers:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75275
Then find out what CD came with the Mac by first identifying it:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58669
And then looking at this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25517
If it came with 9, get the original CD that came with it to install Mac OS 9.
If it came with Mac OS 8.6 or earlier, get a retail 9 CD which looks like
    Do a clean install using
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58176 as a guide once you have the correct 9 disk.
Then install the firmware update that corresponds to your Mac:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
And then I would not even bother with 10.1.5 anymore and get 10.2. Repairing issues with 10.1.5 is difficult. 10.2 installer disks which work on that machine once the firmware is updated look like

    clifffromhomosassa,
Your system cannot find the startup volume. This can be caused by many things including a failed HD.  Please look over and trouble shoot using the Apple Flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac letter.

iPod touch stopped working when charging now won't turn on at all

    Try in order:
    - After charging or half an hour, reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and if it shows in iTunes, restore the iPod via iTunes.
    - See if placing the iPod in recovory mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

  • HP laptop won't boot at all

My one and half year old Hp 2000 laptop won't boot at all. When I press the power button, it doesn't show any sign of life at all.
I have tried Hard test several times yet it didn't fix it.
    Battery charges, power adapter working.
I have also tried to boot using the AC adapter alone yet my precious laptop isn't showing any sign of life.
Please how do I fix this? I need to do my assignment and prepare for my exams, and I can't afford a new laptop. Not when the current laptop is pretty new.
    Please help me HP support.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @Chichiiii ,
    Thank You for your inquiry.
I understand that when you power on your notebook it is unresponsive.  You did state that the AC adapter is working and the battery is charging.
Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 8), which has multiple links to help you determine the issue.

  • Won't boot at all... [will not POST]

Greets. My order from newegg just came in today and i'm quite happy with the "big" things i got-
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (link)
    MSI K8N Neo4-F (link)
Now, I'm not totally oblivious with the whole computer situation, after all, I was brave enough to build this, right? 8) The problem I am having lies in the fact that the computer just won't boot at all. Eventually I turned on that D-Bracket into JDB1. So far it has got Yellow and Red LEDs which stay on. The book tells me that the processor is installed incorrectly. I'm pretty sure it's lying as I have checked it many times (please don't make me take off that heatsink/fan again) and the chip is FIRMLY set in it's place. Alas, the screen stays black (running off of a sapphire card) and nothing happens. I would expect to AT LEAST get a BIOS screen to see where I messed up my SATA configuration (as I'm sure I did...)
But, if anyone has seen a problem like this or knows a solution, please give me a shout. It is very much appreciated
edit: after lurking more (link) I have decided that i'm not at fault, it is, indeed, the graphics card and/or monitor that are not working. I get:
which, according to this post, means that I should be in the clear for BIOS set up. Nothing is displayed on my screen! :( Help!
    Thanks.

    1) Do u have any usb cables from your case front panel or Flash card/drive or usb hubs connected to the mobo if so unplug them.
    2) Switch off computer & unplug mains lead the remove a module of memory leaving the remaining 1 in slot1 (nearest CPU)
if 1 doesn't apply or doesn't give any change try 2.
1 does not apply, the only external devices i have attached are a monitor, keyboard, mouse (all os/2, not usb) and of course our friendly D-Bracket.
I have unplugged all IDE devices and SATA devices. All that's in there is the 1 GB of RAM (it's a 1gb stick, not 512mb), graphics card and processor, still no picture :(

  • My Probook 4310s won't boot at all

    Hi there
My probook 4310s energy star suddenly stop working and won't boot at all. Prior to this, the windows freeze couple of times and I had to power off by pressing the power button for few seconds. And this happened few times in a week (not every time I used it)
Now, when I turn it on, the laptop just show the very first splash screen, the one with the logo of 'hp invent', 'intel' and 'press the ESC key for startup Menu'. But pressing any key wont do nothing.
These are what I have tried so far.
    - I tried pressing ESC, F11, F12, F10 and all of the F keys but nothing happened
    - I even tried to take off the Harddrive and memory card to see if the drive or memory were faulty but it stayed the same.
    - with the hd and memory back in, I tried putting in the installation dvd in the hope that the laptop will boot from it, but nothing happened.
    - for several times, I let it on overnight and in the morning the screen shows the recovery menu, startup repair, etc. but choosing any option do not do anything and pressing cancel would bring me back to the original faulty state.
    - When it show the startup repair menu, I could go to prompt screen and browse the hd content and every files seems to be fine apart from my c drive is now recognized as d drive.
can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it? thank you very much.
It's running on windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

  • RAM Upgrade, now won't boot

    Hi all,
I recently bought 2 x 2GB Kingston RAM modules to upgrade my MBP from it's current 2GB (2x1GB) up to 4GB. The Kingston part number is KVR667D2S5/2G
When I swap over the modules, the laptop won't boot at all, just a black screen and the white LED just stays on.
I've tried each module individually and in each slot but no joy.
Please can anyone help me? Am I missing something basic??
My MBP is a 2.5Ghz 15" model, MB134LL/A, which according to the specs can have "Up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM".
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony

It's got me puzzled, and a bit annoyed really, as it should work up to 4GB. I've also seen reports from other people who have these same modules working in various MBP's.
It does/will work at 4GB with the proper RAM. I'm not surprised that some of the Kingston's VR works for some MBPs, but not yours. Here's why: Apple's specs are very tight (tolerances, if you will), compared to the PC industry, and seem to get tighter with each new OS upgrade. When you buy guaranteed Mac compatible RAM, it means that RAM has been tested with and passed Apple's specs. Just by chance, some other generic RAM (KVR, for instance), may pass and be compatible with Macs, while others won't. You obviously got some the is not compatible, and even if it was now, it might fail Apple's future specs. That's why I'd never buy KVR or generic RAM. I don't need the hassle that you're going through now, or, if not now, probably would go through in the future.

  • Battery died while updating to OS X 10.5.2, Now won't boot!

    Dear all,
Last night I went to update my PowerBook from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2, along with a couple of other updates that Software Update had downloaded. Half way through the installation my battery died, and now with the mains plugged in, the computer won't boot at all. I get the initial white screen with they grey apple logo in the middle and a spinning loading icon.
Is there anything I can do to revert it and get it to boot up?
I have a time machine backup from about a week ago, but have some work I did yesterday I would really rather not lose if at all possible!
    Many thanks in advance,
    Jude

Lesson learned: never update on battery.
If you can boot your computer with your OS disc, and if you have enough free hard drive space, you can perform an Archive and Install. This way you lose nothing but the 90-180 minutes it will take for the OS to install.
If it won't boot off the CD or you lack the drive space for an archive and install find another Mac user and mount your computer's drive on their computer using FW target disk mode.

  • IMac ate DVD, now won't boot...

    Hi,
After using iDVD I had the dreaded "ate the disc" issue, with the typical grinding noise and the lack of ejection. I figured I would play it safe, power down the machine so it wouldn't be reading it, and boot it up again and eject it using the keyboard / mouse button options that are suggested here.
Except it won't boot at all.
I'm stuck on a grey screen, the HD does nothing, and the DVD drive grinds from the instant the power is on.
I have literally no options that I can think of - it just sits and grinds and does nothing, won't boot, won't target disk, won't do anything. None of the hold-buttons-at-start will do anything, because the machine won't get that far. The drive starts grinding before the screen even lights up.
    Help!

Ok, now it appears to have booted, but the disk is still in there. I'm doing a full Time Machine backup (justincase), but after that... what to do?
I really can't be without this machine for two weeks and it was a custom order so a replacement isn't going to happen.
As someone who works for Apple's biggest UK reseller, am I seriously having to reconsider whether I even want to work there any more - no reflection on my employers, obviously, but this is 3 bad machines I've had from Apple in one year and the return rate I've started seeing on hardware is utterly appalling.
The nosedive in quality after using them for over 8 years is simply astonishing.

  • PT880 Neo - Won't Boot at all

    Help me anyone!
My computer won't boot at all. I recently put it together and the bios works all the way to the Boot-start (accordingly to D-bracket) but nothing happends after that. The bios recognices the SATA, floppy, DVD and the CDrom (all at once or one by one - standalone). I'am trying to install Windows XP Prof sp1a.
    - I've tried with full system (SATA, DVD, CDrom and Floppy).
    - I've tried with only the DVD (disabled SATA).
    - I've tried with only the CDrom (disabled SATA).
    - I've even tried with only the floppy (windows 98 start floppy).
    - I've tried two different Win XP prof disc's.
    - I've tried with or without PATA-IDE and SATA and all the possible
       combination of them.
Since the computer won't read from the DVD, CDrom or the floppy I can't
flash the bios or install the RAID-driver from the floppy. After reading about the +12 Amp in this forum I changed PSU to Aspire but it didn't help. I really need help from you all because I'm so tired of trying now and I GOT THREE SIMILAR COMPUTERS ACTING THIS WAY ON MY KITCHENTABLE right now (for me and for two friends). I can't bellieve I was so unlucky as to receive 3 MoBo's that won't work so It has to be something else. One strange thing though - The press F11 for BOOT meny (boot order) doesn't work at all - otherwise the Bios seems to work as it should.
    Best regards
    Lars

I've got the same problem with a P4 3.2E.  At times I get into "Windows loading" before rebooting, other times it freezes at a black screen just past POST (with a blinking cursor in upper left-hand corner).  One time I actually got to desktop and just as icons were appearing, it rebooted.  It really seems memory related to me.  Running PC4200, I set all timings as loose as possible, make sure there was enough voltage going everywhere, but still no success.  I'm going to try swapping in my 2.8C northy to flash to BIOS 1.4, and I PM'ed NovJoe for that beta...hoping he'll be kind enough to shoot it to me.  This is just a backup board while I prepare my IC7 for thermo electric cooling, and while I am impressed with all the options and voltage ranges in BIOS (from an extreme OC'ing standpoint), I'm not too impressed with this supposedly "Prescott Ready" board so far.  Hoping I can get this thing solved tonight, cuz I lost out on a night of gaming last night.

Sounds like an activation issue. Quite Premiere Pro. Sign out of Creative Cloud. Restart Premiere Pro. Sign back in: http://bit.ly/CC-sign-out

My MacBook Pro 15" (bought in Jan 2012) just had a kernel panic and now won't boot up.. Am I doomed?

No, it doesn't necessarily mean the hard drive is toast. You can start by doing the following:
Boot into Safe Mode then do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion
Boot from your Lion Recovery HD. When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
If the drive is OK and you can repair permissions, then see if the computer will boot up normally. If it doesn't boot up normally then reinstall OS X:
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
