N97 contact list number display

Can Nokia include the option to able to see Phone number when scrolling down Contact list... Pls...
for N97 in the next firmware
or anyone have any idea to view it without going into the edit option?

Well... you can't get the phone number to display in the contacts. You pull up a contact by name or company name, not the number.
So, when you pull John Doe, just click on that name, and your menu screen will give you the option to call or email or SMS that individual.
And the neat thing is, if the phone number is highlighted in the menu, then the Call John Doe option is defaulted.

This problem is ALWAYS caused by multiple entries, as Fender says, you have the same number with several names so phone doesn't know who is calling and just shows number, or you also need to check memory in use in contacts, if you are using more than one source ie phone memory and sim, you will also get conflict. Check your contacts and set phone contacts in use to only one source ! Just phone memory or just sim. There are many posts on this subject, just use user search, it's always the same solution

How do I get my contact list to display after IOS 5 update?

since updating to IOS 5, my contact app opens, and I can see names, but I cannot see any of the information that used to be there!! Addresses, emails, phone numbers???!!!! All gone.
How do I get them back?

If you just bought it, you could return it.
Or you could get a microUSB cable and restore the device from iTunes on your computer.

E71 Contact List - Name and Number view

hi everyone,
i am using the nokia E71 and have a question regarding the contact list. i have imported about 200 contacts to the Phone Memory (not the sim card).
Now when i open the contact list, it displays all these contacts in the First Name Last Name format. And I have to actually enter the individual contact to be able to see what their default telephone number is.
Is there any way to change the view in the contact list so it displays the Name and Number, without the need to go into the actual contact.... Or at least a keyboard shortcut like in older nokia's (the # key used to do it).
Please ask me if I wasn't clear enough. Thanks.

Contact List Question

Hi,
If I recall correctly, prior to the recent update my contact list was arranged by last name or first name. After the update, it was arranged differently (visually speaking). The contact list was seperated alphabetically instead of all the names just being in order down the screen.
Well, my phone is not showing usage stats so I restored it last night and now the contact list is back to the same plain list. I prefer the names being physically grouped by alpha.
Is this a setting somewhere that I have over looked? I'd like to change it back.

edited to add: The contact list looked just like the Artist or Song list in the ipod section.

Actually Damon, I found the answer on my own, lol. Apparently, the way one's contact list is displayed depends on the number of contacts you have on your iPhone. When I restored my phone last night and didn't sync my contacts, I had less than 20, giving me the boring looking list of names. Once I added contacts back and went over 20 total, it changed to the "ipod-like" list I was describing.
So...
under 20 contacts= plain jane list
20 or more contacts= much nicer, alpha sorted list

First name and last name order in contact list

Actually, my contact list is displayed with the last name before the first name, but everything is fine in Address Book settings (I choosed "First name, Last name" option), and I checked that first name and last name has not been reversed for some reasons between two fields, the first name is right in place, as is the last name.
So changing this is AddressBook has no effect.
I tried disabling Chax, without success.
It could be possible this problem occured when I enabled Microsoft Exchange address book synchronization, (iSync reported 500+ changes in AB database, I did it anyway and noticed no problems in data after synchronization (I still have a backup :-))
One more thing , the displayed name in the iChat menu extra is correct.
So, what could possibly change this behavior I did not already check ?

If you add details to the Address card in iChat as you add a Buddy then you need the first set of instructions I posted.

Ahhh. I see what you mean.
iChat does in fact always display First Name, Last Name as you say.
Adding a Buddy with the names in the reverse order to display as you want in iChat your Address book gets messed up as it is not consistent with those contacts that are not iChat Buddies.
The only work around I can see is to change all the Address Book entries to match a reverse entry in iChat and then use the Address Book option to display Last Name, First name to show them the 'correct' Fist name, Last name and have them in Last name, First name in iChat.

Local Contacts not showing in Contacts List

Local contacts list only displays two contacts, my own and an emergency contact after sync'ing my Samsung 10.1 tablet with Google.
1.Local Contacts.
When l now open Contacts app, l am constantly presented with 'Setup/ Sync/ Import' contacts.
Yet all my local contacts are still available in the 'Groups' tab.
Through the Groups tab some days ago, l ended up on the full Contacts list, yet am unable to find it again, so the contacts are all there, the problem would seem to be with the App itself?
2. Google Contacts
a) When l attempt to 'Sync' with Google, a repeated 'Sync' error is given. I am assuming this is because there are none and all contacts are saved locally.
b) Why is it not possible to sync Local Contacts with Google and thus have a separate backup.
What l have tried as suggested on 'Setup/ Sync' dialogue:
1. Syncing and reimporting Local Contacts - This has resulted in multiple entries within 'Groups' tab yet not updated main list.
2. Syncing with Google account. - Local contacts are not on Google account and as l said above 'Sync' error
3. Import Contacts - Tried loading SD saved Local Contacts vcf file.
Please advise.

Whilst there is little I can do regarding the syncing behaviour I may be able to resolve the first issue:
Main Menu > Contacts > Menu Button > Filter > Untick both options under the "Filter" Section > Ensure "All" is ticked in the "Local Contacts" Section under "Display Contacts" > Done.

Something weird happend to my contact list...any help?

Hi guys,
2 days ago i deleted someone from my bbm, so i was out of his list and he is out of my list. Yesterday my bbm was tripping, so i deleted and reinstalled bbm, and i used restore contacts... and he is back in my list again, i asume i'm not in his list again automatical ly. 10 min after i restored my contact list, everyones display picture changed, and i saw a picture of him i never seen before, and that one sure is not the same one back when i deleted him, i was like ??? but i left it alone, i left him in my list this time. Today i got a notificatio n about a bbm software update, so i installed that of course...af ter reboot i saw everyones picture update again, and once again i saw a different picture of him i never seen before, lol!
So how is it possible that i see his picture updates? well, i dont rly see it when he update it, only if i renew or reinstall my bbm...thats weird right? Anyone have a idea about this?

Ya thats kinda odd.
What I would have to guess would be this
Your BBM can be set to wirelessly backup its contacts to a registered email. Chances are it was backed up prior to you deleting him.
Then when you deleted/reinstalled BBM. it synced with that backup file with him as a contact.
aside from that, your contacts are most likely just updating their profile pics. I have a contact that does it almost HOURLY ( shes a little odd )

iCloud and iTunes can back up most data on your iPhone, including photos and video in the Camera Roll, Contacts, app data, and more. If you backed up your device using either of those methods, you can restore those items by following the directions in this article:

Sending contact list in 08 Mercedes C-class

Hi, I have a new 2008 C350 which as standard bluetooth connectivity, and the phone syncs up just fine, but the address book does not download, and I can't find a setting on the iPhone to send over the contacts list. Is there any way I can send the contacts over to my car?

Which version iPhone - 1.1.4 original, 2.0 original or the 2.0 3g phone? Does your contact list get displayed in Command correctly? As far as I know, there's no difference in Command between the standard models and the AMG version of the car. Assume you are using Bluetooth, rather than the new iPhone cradle? If you are using Bluetooth, are you using the official Mercedes Bluetooth module or the third party module made by Viseeo?
Seems from other posts, that there are known problems with v2.0 software on both the original and the 3g iPhone with BMW and Mercedes bluetooth in-car handsfree systems.

IPhone causing Exchange Contacts to reverse display

I have a user with about 5000 contacts and we have an issue that has been lingering which I cannot seem to resolve. Current device is an iPhone 4s 64GB. We have a corporate Exchange 2010 server and email set up on the iPhone.
From time to time the users contacts display order will reverse from First Name Last to Last Name, First. We have verified that both the contact options within Outlook and on the device itself are set to store and dislpay First Name Last.
We have spent several hours correcting the contact list to display correctly only to have it reverse when he makes a change on the mobile device. Funny thing is that it does not effect all contacts and it may not necessarly be the same set of contacts twice. Totally random.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

You don't. Contacts in an Exchange account can not be moved to a different account. They are "owned" by the Exchange server.

Feature request - Z10 Contact list

Yes, the Clear History command accessible via the Develop Menu is exactly what I want to be accessible programmatically. I didn't realize that was already implemented in Lightroom proper - just need a function now in the SDK to do it. - Thanks Ian, for pointing that out.

Adding caller with name and number from call list to the contact list only inserts the number and not the name

I recently bought a BlackBerry Z10 and moved my cell service to Rogers to take advantage of the name display service offered by Rogers (Fido also offers this service).
Due to the number of calls that I receive from first time clients, I wanted the name display service to help me know who was calling. Evidently it is impossible to add clients to my contact list before they call me so I'm constantly seeing numbers that have no name to help me decide if I want to answer the call.
When I try to add a caller from my call list to my contact list, only the number gets inserted in the new contact. The name needs to be entered manually.
I understand and realize that not all call display formats are the same and that it's virtually impossible to parse the first and last names from the name portion of the caller id.
However, I would like to see BlackBerry add the functionality to insert the name portion of the call entry from the caller list to a "Nickname" entry in the contact list just like it adds the number to a "Home", "Mobile", or "Work" entry in the contact list.
If a user doesn't have a name display service, there would be no change to how their contacts are added because there is no name variable to copy over.
Can someone from BlackBerry please let me know if this feature can be added to BB10 and when it can be added? For me it's an obvious feature that should just work.
I am really enjoying my Z10 but I'm feeling let down that something so logical and helpful is not supported out of the box.

It appears that you are not aware of the fact that both Rogers and Fido offer name AND number display service (although the name display feature is an add-on service) and have been offering it for many years (since 2006). Here is a link to the name display service description of each provider...

My BlackBerry Z10 shows both the name and number when someone calls (and the caller is not in my contact list).
All I would like is for the Z10 (and Q10) to support the addition of the name and number from the caller list to my contact list without me having to type the name. As I mentioned in my original post, to avoid the OS having to parse the first name and last name from the name portion of the caller list entry the name could simply be added to the contact list as a "Nickname". If your provider only has number display, nothing would have to be copied from the name variable in the caller list to the contact list.
I find it difficult to believe that BlackBerry would not be aware of this name display service since it's been around since 2006 with both Rogers and Fido.
I hope I have clarified the reasons why I would like to have this feature added to BB10 and how it's surprising that this simple feature is not already a part of the BB10 OS.
Either way, I don't think this is a difficult feature for the BlackBerry team to add. They're just copying a 2nd variable from the caller list to the contact list.
I'm surprised that Rogers hasn't asked BlackBerry to add this feature to their phones. I think it would be a popular feature for those who receive a high number of calls from first time callers.
How can I get this feature request to BlackBerry for their consideration?

Anyway to add contact number into same box as contacts name in contacts list

With my Blackberry and steam driven Sony Ericcson it is possible to have a contacts number displayed underneath the contacts name in the main contacts list.
Is this possible on iphone? or is there a contacts app anyone can reccomend which displays in that form?

Nokia 6650 - display contats in contact list

Hi!
Does anybody know how I can set display Name and number in my contacts list. I know how to set this in the following maner:
- First Name - Last Name and
- Last Name - First Name
but I don't know how to display:
First Name-Last Name - Number
All my contacts are on SIM card.

You cannot set that on a S60 (Symbian) phone.
