N97 contacts mess

i got a new N97 (not the mini)........its black and is working fine but i hav a problem.........
the thing is that i save 2 number with different area codes (let ABC be the number...... i hav it like 0091ABC and 0092ABC) both are save in phone memory contacts with different names..........but when either one calls the name doesn't appear only th no.
is there a way to save both the numbers with different names and still hav the names appear during calling or recieving or even sms.....
PLZ help me quick.......
to be frank.....one number is my boss's and the other his son's..............so help me!!!!!!

Just a thought, but do all your other contacts show up ok ? It's not possible you have double entries of the numbers is it IE Boss's son 123456 and Boss's son Mobile 12345 ? I've only ever known duplicate entries cause this problem ! Worth double checking.

depend on how it's stored
when you connect your iphone to your computer and open your itunes on the computer
and click on the iphone under devices and get the iphone content menu you can
click on the info tab on the content menu
there you can choose how you will be syncronizing contacts to your iphone
if what you mean by "is stored in windows vista" is avaible in the dropdownbox then choose
that otherwise you need to export the contacts from the "stored by windows vista" to an options
present in the dropdownbox
the most easy thing would be using an export to pst and import from pst in microsoft outlook as it is pretty compabile with many things

N97 contacts sync problems

Is there anyway around the N97 creating dual entries for contacts you put in your favorite contacts in the home page? I noticed this was the case when syncing to my E90. The other odd thing was syncing to the E90 removed all the favorite contacts.

I have the same problem with my N97 mini. I used gmail for months without any problem but since about a week it either keeps synchronizing forever (without receiving any mail) or stops and also no mail received. Looking at the web version, new mails are there!

N97 contacts thumbnail size

Hi please does anyone here know the proper size (in pixels) for contacts thumbnails on n97 to be shown with no cuts when the person calls me?

Then click the down arrow at the right-hand end of the toolbar and select Thumbnail Size....

N97 - Contacts Widget Photo Bug

Discovered another bug *sigh* with my N97,
My contacts widget started not displaying the photos of the listed contact favourites. The names of the contacts would be individually displayed but no images. I found this odd, but a re-start usually fixed it.
Now however, a restart does not resolve the issue. I've tried de-listing my favourites and re-listing them, and I've tried the contacts widget II, with no success.
No doubt a re-install of the firmware will fix the issue, but I currently don't have the time to do this.
N97 v12. Yet another bug. Yawn.

You can try the following, by me it had helped everytime.
Remove your favourites widget from the homescreen, then restart your phone and after restart, add your favourites to the homescreen again.
Hope this helpf for you too, by me it works on V11.

N97 contact list number display

Can Nokia include the option to able to see Phone number when scrolling down Contact list... Pls...
for N97 in the next firmware
or anyone have any idea to view it without going into the edit option?

Well... you can't get the phone number to display in the contacts. You pull up a contact by name or company name, not the number.
So, when you pull John Doe, just click on that name, and your menu screen will give you the option to call or email or SMS that individual.
And the neat thing is, if the phone number is highlighted in the menu, then the Call John Doe option is defaulted.

Sync N97 contacts with Ovi Suite 2.0 & Outlook XP

Hello folks,
I just upgraded Ovi Suite from v1.1 to 2.0 and went to resync my N97 (now at v2.0 firmware). Ovi Suite contacts sync ok with the N97 but the Contacts aren't syncing wiith Outlook XP (Calendar and Notes sync ok). Is therer a way to keep all three in sync automatically?

Ordering of favourites in N97 Contacts.

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to sort the favourites contacts in N97. We can select 8 favourites that will be shown on main widget but somehow I cannot control the sequence. Some takes automatic position 2, some 5 and some 1. Is there any way, that we can sort them out ?

I believe if you remove all favourites then remove widget and re-add it (start fresh) you can tap a blank contact and assign a 'favourite' to it, so they appear in the order you apply them. However, does it matter ? I have 8 photos with names on my screen, and I tap the one I want to contact, and I'm pretty sure top right is not jealous of bottom left

Nokia N97 Contact sync Problems 83930001

I have problems after hard resetting my nokia N97, it won't sync my contacts anymore. I have the latest ovisuite 3.0.0.290 and Nokia N97 software 22.0.110. It constantly gives the error 8393001.
I even tried to reinstal my Nokia N97 software but then during the instal I get a 12042 Error. So I'm in sort of a loop.
I hope some one has the solution.

I guess the installation of Ovi Suite is corrupted, please follow the steps provided below to assist you in this regard
Step 1
- Go to Progam and Features/Add Remove in Control Panel
- Click Ovi Suite
- Click Repair.
Once repair is completed then please restart computer and check.
If Step 1 didnt work, then try the below step
Step2
-Go to Progam and Features/Add Remove in Control Panel
- Click Ovi Suite
- Click Uninstall
Also uninstall the following f
- Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
- PC connectivity Solution
Then right click my computer, click manage.
- Device Manager-Ports- If you find anything by name Nokia please unistall ( Dont remove anything else)
Then reinstall windows Installer from the link provided below
For Windows Vista and Windows 7

- Once done then lauch Ovi Suite.

Hi, my friend has an X6. On his homepage, he is able to have contacts with pictures that you can scroll through.
I have an N97. The homepage contact app shows pics, but you can't scroll through them. Anyway to do this on an N97?

Can you tell me whether is there a way for me to view the number of the contact in the dialed number tab, without going in the contact list or the Options->Use Number->Edit option? is there some button that I can click just to view the number from the contact. I have Nokia N97 mini.

Nokia N97 Contacts search FAILURE

Am I the only one who
is totally disappointed by Nokia? Isn’t this mobile meant for making calls in
the first place? Whenever I enter to contacts and when I want to search for a
contact between my at least 400 contacts, it is useless to use the fast scroll
or kinetic scroll. The search is useless as well as it offers a totally weird keyboard,
it is not even QWERTY or numerical. If only nokia would make the keyboard QWERTY
or like the numerical on regular phones. When you want to write a sms with numerical
keyboard it is fine, but no numerical keyboard or QWERTY in contacts is a SHAME
and DISGRACE. The phone is useless this way.

N97 contacts don't show up

Okay, to cut a long story short... I tried to install an app on my phone and the installation failed. After that I started to get a "system error" message every few minutes on my phone. I decided to do a soft reset on the phone. This sorted out the error message..... BUT all my contacts seemed to have been deleted from the phone book! and all of my photos are no longer in the default photo album on the phone, but seem to be present in the downloaded "photo browser" from nokia!
the strangest thing is this though... when one of my friends calls me... their contact details (i.e their name) shows up on my phone! but they are not there in the phone book! what's going on?
i thought a soft reset just deleted user settings, not the contents of the mem card.
anyway, can someone figure out how to restore my contacts to my phone book. they have GOT to be there somewhere, because they show up when someone calls me!

Contact messed up after OS upgrade

Twice now after OS upgrade that the names of my contacts are changed. Examples include email address before the @domain became the first name, last name also became first name, company name became last name.
This is becoming a very bothersome cleanup exercise.

No, you can't edit contacts via Link.
I recommend only saving contacts to an email account and not using "local." That way you can edit via the email account and they will sync to the device. This prevents anything weird happening to the contacts. I also recommend using only one email account for any specific contact. If you want to use a BES Outlook email for work contacts and another personal email account for personal contacts, that's fine but it's best not to have contacts in an email account and local. The problem is when you edit you really don't know what you're editing. Getting rid of all Local contacts has helped a lot in my case.
Temporarily removing the LinkedIn account completely may help determine what's going on. That will allow you to see what is left.

Contacts messing up after ios 5.o.1 update

I just updated my phone last night and now my phone contacts are stopping at J and then restarting at A where K should be. ive tried restarting my phone and doing soft resets. I dont konw what to do next. can anybody give me some advice?

As did many, I downloaded ISO 5 to my system. I have since spent months cleaning 100s of unknown and/or incomplete contacts from my PC, iPhone and iPad. But, yesterday, I was silly and connected my new laptop to iCloud. Result?
100s of new, unknown and incomplete contacts.
What is it with Apple? Can't they debug their software?
I am not looking for an answer. There isn't one.
Argh!

And my distribution lists have been corrupted.
