N97 Daily Problem

Hi ppl..
I love my N97 but this love looks platonic
My device is fully updated. It shuts itself down with no reason 2-3 times a day. In that situation i open the keylock and see that it has rebooted itself.. a restart results with the PIN code request.
Sometimes keylock doesnt work and i try to open with the power button but it doesnt respond... after a few seconds it comes out with a huge wake up: 10-12 seconds of vibration non-stop then opens weirdly
And once when i was typing message screen went of and i saw some colorful lines travelling left-right then again.. device rebooted itself.
THEN: I've decided to use phone with no-line (flight) mode to understand if the problem was simcard or 2G - 3G signals' unstable behaviours but it s AGAIN same problems happenned so i ve understood that my updated phone was the problem itself
SO : what do u advice me to do ?
Does "Nokia Care" care that? How can i prove them these problems, they have to use for a while to understand.
And i see similar problems written here so is there a possibility that nokia has full of broken n97 series out there ?
What would you do ??
Thanks !

Hey guyz.. I ve sent my device to Nokia Care and they ve sent me a new phone from Finland. That's OK
When it's back, i didnt make anything illegal to my phone and didnt full it s memory with songs or applications. I am using it in a very standart way. But it reboots itself while surfing on the menus, at least once a day.
My problem was 4-5 times a day, now once a day, anyway..
Question is:
I ve heard v20.x.x. is out and it has some advantages and disadvanteges etc.. when i check my phone from Ovi Suite, it's version is v10.0.012 and it says "no updates for device"
Can that be the reason why my device goes on rebooting?
And is there a chance ovi suite doesnt update the firmware?

  • Daily Problems with Mail Synchronizing with Exchange Server

Our office uses Comcast Business Class Service, which uses 2007 Exchange Servers, for internet access and email. I upgraded my MacPro from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard 10.6.2, using the Upgrade DVD. The upgrade process kept my original Leopard Mail settings, which were using POP. At that time, I had not problems with email.
Unfortunately, awhile ago my Mail Preferences became corrupt, and I had to delete them. Upon relaunching Mail, the application wanted to use the new Autosync method to connect to the Comcast Exchange Server. Using POP was not an option.
I must say that I am less than impressed with the way Mail integrates with Exchange Servers. I have daily problems, and experience these problems multiple times per day. When they happen, they slow my email communication down to a crawl; sometimes for as much as an hour.
Specifically, the problem appears to be with Mail's ability (or inability) to properly synchronize with Exchange Servers. I get he spinning pizza icons next to the two Exchange email accounts I have in my Mailboxes source column. Opening the Activity window shows that the synchronizing process has slowed everything down. This results in not being able to send or receive email until the synchronizing is complete. And as I said, that can sometimes take as long as an hour.
Stopping the process in the Activity window does not resolve the issue. Nor does quitting and relaunching Mail. Because the next time Mail attempts to connect to the Exchange Server, it will try to synchronize yet again. The problem has become so chronic, that I often have to resort to using Webmail while waiting of the synchronizing process to complete.
Incidentally, the mailboxes that are synchronizing are empty! I am meticulous about keeping my Inbox, Sent, Drafts, and Trash mailboxes empty at all times. I do not use To-Do's, Notes, or Calendars of any kind on the Exchange Server, so there is no data to even sync!
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a fix? Other email accounts I have, which use POP or IMAP, do not have this issue. There does not appear to be away to abandon the Autosync Mail setup and revert back to POP. If there is, I will do it in a heartbeat.
    Thanks.

Found a solution that works for me. Delete the problem account that's using AutoDiscover to sync with the exchange server. Before doing that, however, you will want to clear out the Inbox, Sent and even Trash folder for that account, as deleting it will remove the messages that currently reside in those folders. Just simply move them to another folder. You can move them back after re-creating the account.
The second step is to re-create the account. Do this as you would normally, and enter in your name, username and password. THE TRICK: Press and hold the Option key when you click Continue. After Mail connects to the server and verifies your account information, you will then have a pull down menu that will allow you to choose Exchange Server, IMAP and POP. Simply select POP or IMAP, then fill out the rest of the fields.
Viola! No more problematic Exchange Server syncing issues.

  • N97 GPS Problems - Hardware or Software?

Sorry to start yet another thread on the N97 GPS problems, but reading through all the threads there seems not to be any clear conclusion as to whether or not the issue is a software/firmware one, in which case potentially fixable, or a hardware one, in which case the phones have to be sent back and replaced.
My personally feeling is that it's hardware.  Some people have no issue but many have a problem.   I have the same issues with losing the satellites, poor GPS accuracy, etc. both with Ovi Maps 3.01 and with Google Maps, which again to me points to a hardware fault.  Updating firmware from v10 to v11 made no difference to GPS performance.
So, I wonder if people agree with me that it is a hardware issue and the phones have to go back, or if there is some hope of it being a software issue and thus being fixed?
Anyone had any success in sending back an N97 for replacement because if the GPS issue? Mine is a UK 3 branded N97 black, free as part of a contract, and I have a feeling that 3 are likely to resist replacing the phone if they can.
    Mark

I believe that the GPS problem in N97 not a hardware problem but a software problem with the Nokia (Ovi) Maps 3.
    Below explanation why:
I have been using Nokia Maps 2.0 on my previous phone – E71 for more than one year. It worked pretty well and stable. One important remark – it is important to configure the server for AGPS under Settings well...
About one and half month ago I decided to install on my E71 the newest Nokia (Ovi) Maps 3.0. And ... immediately my problems started. The GPS performance worsened – I was continuously getting messages about GPS lost, recalculating and usually concluding that I am on a parallel road to the road which I was actually driving – horrible...
Also my colleague with N82 made the same mistake (installed Maps 3.0) and got the same problems.
Because of this problems I have removed this new version on my E71 and went back to Nokia Maps 2.0. And guess what? - The problems were gone!
Two weeks ago I bought my N97. It comes only with Maps 3.1 so I was expecting problems. And ... indeed I have them all. Bad thing is however that I cannot go back to Maps 2.0 on N97...
I tested GPS accuracy with three different phones (N97, E71, E75) and two versions of Nokia Maps. What I can see is that its normal to be about 80-100 meters on average. This is not a specific N97 issue! And apparently should not be a problem because Nokia Maps 2.0 works great even if this application shows accuracy of 100 m. Probably thanks to the Assisted GPS.
So my conclusion is that it is not a hardware problem but a problem with (a part of) the software of the Nokia (Ovi) Maps 3.x ! Maybe with a GPS Driver? Or the functionality of the assisted GPS?

  • N97 Mini - problem autolock with security code

I bought my N97 Mini last week. It works perfectly except when I activate autolock with securitycode, the phone refuses to react, when the autolock is activated of course. Only when I remove the battery I can reboot my phone.
I've contacted both the after sales service of the store where I've bought my phone as Nokia Careline.
Nokia referred me to a Nokia Care Point and the after sales service of the store proposed to give me a brend new phone.
I've chosen for the new phone, but the problem remains the same (sometimes it works, but sometimes it doens't).
I have the newest software (V10.0.020 on date 14-10-09), edited version 10.0.020.C01.01 (via *#0000#).
I can't continue te be given new phones that don't work properly.

  • N97 Widgets problem

    I've Nokia N97 with V12.0.024
A lot of times the phone stops responding and I've to take out the battery to restart the phone.
After the restart, when it loads the widgets on the main screen, the pics on the Favorite Contacts widget disappears and in the Music Widgets it dosn't show the media buttons or anything else.
Its irritating becuase after sometime most of the widgets stop working and the phone starts to respond very slowly.
So far only solution I've seen to the problem is to format the phone and restore everything again.
The frequency of formatting the phone has gone up to once a week now.
If anyone else is facing the same problem and know a solution pls help.

im facing the same problem..every damn day...all he widgets stop working after every 10 hrs or so..and sometimes my phone doesnt even respond..neither do i rcv ne calls..I have to take the battery off twice a day 2 make sure its working fine..unfortunately thr is no solution to this..and neither is nokia bothered 2 take this into note..greddy company have got the money..and to hell w/ thr loyal costumers.

  • I cannot turn it on!!!n97.(problem with hard reset...

hi guys..this is my **bleep** prob..i had a n97..the problem is it wont start at all...ive tried the hard reset but it wont work as it could be..ive tried a million times to hard reset but it still cannot..the phone only stuck at the Nokia..then it stuck there forever until i get this problem solved..is they anyone that has any ideas about this thing..??

Erm.. I'm not quite with you johnjoel. From what I understand, the problem isn't sorted at all??
First, What was the inital problem, and when did it occure? - Did you install anything on it before it happened? Did you upgrade the fw?
Anyway, your phone's stuck on the boot screen. Usually there's nothing more to do other than take it to a Nokia care point as mccoy did, if the hard reset fails.
But do you have a memory card installed? If yes; pull it out and try another hard reset. if it works, you will most likely have to format the memorycard.
If you don't have a memorycard installed or the trick doesn't work; leave the memorycard outside the phone and pull out the sim-card too. Try another hard reset. - If the phone boots without it, but fails to boot with it, even when you've just performed a successfully hard reset, I would try another simcard if you have one spare. - If the phone does not work with that simcar either, you will have to take it to a Nokia care point.
If i did misunderstand you, and you have sorted it out, let me know by posting here, and I will remove this.
If youre not sure if you do the hard reset correctly; let me know.
    Cheers.

  • N97 mini, problems with Cellular Line portable blu...

    Hi everyone!
I just bought a portable bluetooth hands-free by Cellular Line for my N97 mini but, as soon as I registered it, I had problems. In fact when I received a phone call my phone started ringing, while the bluetooth didn't and I could only answer from my phone... The hands-free didn't work because I found out that the cell phone saw the bluetooth as an headset! How can I solve this problem???

  • N97 picture problem

    Hi all.
Ive had my N97 for a few weeks and i'm loving it.
One problem i do have is with the picture viewer.
Ive uploaded pictures with no problems and on the phone they are in the downloaded folder which is fine.
How ever today ive gone to delete a few pictures and for some reason it now had a generic picture with a line through it.
I cant delete it or access it.
Ive gone through the phone manager to see if its there but its no longer there.
Ive tried turning the phone off and taking the battery out for an hour with no joy.
Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to correct it.
if it makes any difference its on the mass memory.
    Cheers

The line from you in the following thread below is slightly necessary don't you think?

If someone asks a question you could either try and answer without the sarcasm or not bother replying at all.
Ok. So we could choose to just be quiet, and then you'd scream about nobody answering.
Or we could point out that the subject is already being discussed somewhere, and if you make a very small effort, you'd find as much an answer as anybody have managed to produce yet.
But instead you expect us to repeat everything that we have already written once more, just because you are lazy.
It don't take an expert to understand the search function. You just type in some relevant words above, in the search box, and fire away. How difficult is that???

  • N97 mini problems

My n97 mini having startup problem when i switch on it starts restarting then after 4 5 times error appears 'startup failed contact the retailer'
Second problem is in app mgr installed apps doenst open
Please help me on these issues

Hi, try this method... but be aware that procedure will format your C drive and E drive.
If you’re unfortunate enough to encounter a problem on your Nokia N97, a hard reset maybe what you need to do. This wipes the entire phone memory and settings fresh to how it was (or should be) when you bought it. It’s also useful if you’re also unfortunate enough to have to send away your Nokia N97 for repair or exchange, or maybe in future you maybe selling it and don’t want your information/details/media stored onto your device for someone else to access.
The traditional method won’t work as the N97 doesn’t have the old keypad. After you’ve backed up your data onto memory card/pc/ovi, turn your phone off and simultaneously press these four buttons circled in red.
    Caps shift
    Space bar
    Delete button
    On button

well i guess i spoke too soooon didnt worked i deleted that file which u said. it didnt work it still shows the deleted image as a corrupted file symbol with a diagonally crossed line. Also i tried the step one more time where in i deleted the file and then restarted the phone but still it didnt worked out, any other way? My prob is i copied pics from n95(without dupplicates and negatives i.e. without the folder called _palbtn...). simply images and videos but they r not being shown in the photo menu instead it shows only three files which were there prior to copying these files. same is for videos. shows only one which was there prior to copy. I think my phones gallery is not getting refreshed. Any other soln. i have latest firmware i.e.12.0.024 also i tried formatting the 32gb hard drive once, it worked well for few days but again came back to the problem. idont want to submit my phone to nokia care centre which will take a day or two to get cured. kindly any other solution please.........

  • N97 vpn problem

    Hi all,
i try to get (since 2 weeks) working VPN connection between n97 (vodafone-version/product key 0587004/ firmware 21.0.045) and VPN-gateway of my company.
I've installed an actual version of Nokia's VPN-Client(4_0_101117.sisx) and used Nokia Configuration Tool(6.1_06_01_2011) to create/transfer a VPN-policy to the device. It works but
I get always that error in VPN-Protokoll (with WLAN or Mobile):
failed to activate VPN access point "xyz" reason code -2.
my IT-department can't help in this case.
We get no IP-packets from the N97 on VPN gateway - it looks like internal problem of the N97-firmware or VPN-client-version or ...?
I googled and googled and tried any reasonable solution but get the same error.
I could buy SymVPN - 30 € is not a problem but our VPN-network expects IPSEC not PPTP...
    Can somebody help ?
    Best regards

  • N97 application problem on homescreeen

    Hi,
First, i'm french, so it's possible that i've done mistakes in my mesages
I've got a N97, and on the home screen, i put some applications like ACCUWEATHER...
But on the screeen, there is only this message ( "loading content" )
I'm looking for anything to fix this probleme....
The applications works succesfully when i go in Applications, but on the Home screen, nothing, just this message !
    Thanxs for the help !

I can't prove it conclusively, but I think it's got to with your connections and their grouping under Connectivity -> Destinations.
Try to have your most wanted (most used) Destination as Priority 1.  That Destination should also be in your Internet group and that should be your default gourp.
Once you've set that and using that connection, reinstall that app.  Obviously, make sure your home screen is allowed to be online.
I think the problem is the widget (not the app) only knows to use the Priority 1 in your default group.  If that connection isn't working the first time after you installed it, it just won't work and doesn't know to try other connections.

  • N97 Teething Problems....help please!

I recently acquired an N97 that I use for business purposes. There were so many apparent defects with the first phone, all put down to software, that my supplier has replaced the handest. Some of the difficulties remain on the new instrument.
Caller Display. When someone, who is in my contacts list saved to the phone, calls me only the number is displayed on the screen. How can I get the phone to show the caller's name associated with the number in my contacts list? Am I missing some obscure setting, or I am doing something wrong? My memory is not good enough to remember the 400+ numbers in my contacts list and put them to names before I answer the phone; and sometimes you need to know who is calling!
Bluetooth. The bluetooth keeps undocking in my car. When it does, a simple re-docking will not work; I have to introduce the phone to the car all over again. When it is docked, I have no access to the contacts list, last 10 numbers etc.  My car is a 3-month-old 'luxury' executive model with a high-spec factory-fitted communications suite. I am sure that this is not a car fault as I have had the system checked by the manufacturer, and the car's system works fine with other phones including BlackBerry, Samsung and NDA Vario. Surely we must have reached the point, technologically, where a new 'state of the art' car can talk to a new 'state of the art' phone seamlessly and without the fuss I am experiencing.
Nokia is not impressing me so far!!
    Can anyone help?!!
    JerryC

Hi, I don't have this problem, but believe it may be your settings. Open contacts, select options, and set as follows, Contacts to display and Default saving memory both to phone memory. Name Display First Name Last Name. Now I believe that if memory in use is sim it only displays number, also if sim memory AND phone memory are used your phone will see two or more contacts to one number and so just display number. OK one more point if you have multiple numbers for one contact then Edit the contact to have several numbers, ie work home mobile etc or edit each numbers name to something like First name- Jon Smith, Second name-Home .Then Firstname- Jon Smith, Second name-Mobile Etc. I use the first method and attatch all tel numbers and e-mail addresses to one contact, when I call someone with several contacts I have the option to select the number I wish to call or the e-meil address I want to E-mail to.
Bluetooth- I work in the motor trade, all bt systems in all makes of car do not work with all makes of phone !!. However most do and Nokia is usually good. Again if settings are correct on phone as above , you should be able to read your contacts, as for disconnection/connection to bt have you gone into bluetooth settings ?
Line is menu--settings--connectivity--Bluetooth--select centre icon to left of spanner(paired devices)--highlite required device--options--set as authorised. Thats it just exit. Hope this helps
    Good Luck
