N97 Facebook App

I am on the currently latest firmware available, I have all my applications on my F: drive to ensure I have memory available for the phone to use, but increasingly I am finding more and more faults and errors with the facebook application to the point where it has become unusable.
I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled, removed from home screen etc, nothing has worked. The application was working perfectly to begin with, now I get nothing but parse errors and cannot do anything on the application.
Does anyone know of a work around (see troubleshooting already attempted) or an update to this app that will be released to deal with these issues, or are we wasting our time attempting to use something so full of bugs?

Google it. There are various Facebook Apps for the N97/5800 out there. The Widget itself and the DCF file, including the one from the OVI Store somehow does not work. There was one post somewhere which offered the SIS version. Basically, it is an installer version that installs (rather re-installs) after you uninstall the current one... the Facebook Widget.
This widget worked for me. All the others including the one direct from OVI did not work.

N97 Facebook App Problem

Hello, i just purchased a Nokia N97 and the Facebook Application on the front screen does not work. It keeps saying "incorrect signature".
I can log into Facebook through the web, but would much prefer to use the phone app.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

You can get Facebook app from Ovi Store , would also suggest visiting Nokia Beta Labs and trying Nokia Social messaging Beta. Works well and gives you the option to use Twitter as well, it has a good widget, and more functionality than the original FB widget.

N97 facebook app NEWS FEED and WALL display issue

I've noticed a few people posting on Facebook fan pages for Nokia N97 orig and mini that the NEWS FEED and WALL pages are blank, yet you can login and view other pages such as FRIENDS, PHOTOS and INBOX.
When refreshing NEWS FEED and WALL, the page refreshes with no error, but does not display anything.
I changed all my facebook privacy settings to defaults in case that was the problem, but no luck. Also confirmed that the NOKIA application was allowed to access information in my facebook account.
Any suggestions?

I haven't used the standard Facebook app for over a year ! Try Nokia Social Messaging from beta labs (as mentioned) also Socially really good as an alternative, I use both.

N97 facebook app problems

I'm currently having problems with my n97 facebook widget. Whenever I try to connect to it it keeps saying "Connection not availiable". I've been browsing the internet using my brother's wireless network for the first time then I've disabled it so I can use my normal vodafone internet and now my facebook widget won't work. Can anyone help?

I am a huge Nokia fan - and have even defended the N97 when it comes to iPhone users bashing it... but you would not believe on how disappointed I am Nokia have done this.
I too did a soft reset (after serious issues like contacts folder locking up and not allowing me to even access it and various other bugs) and now have lost Facebook, Accuweather etc. The phone is being majorly sold on the facebook application - being dubbed 'The Facebook Phone' - and the truth is it obviously cannot be anymore further than that...
After all... Facebook isn't even available in the Ovi Store for it... so how can it be a Facebook Phone?
Wish someone from Nokia would explain PROPERLY what the hell is going on!?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this (after owning several N-Series phones... 73, 93, 95, 95-2)... but maybe I should of got an iPhone?

N97 - Reinstall Facebook App without wiping phone ...

There are more and more bad reviews everyday coming from N97 users regarding the OVI facebook app (besides the fact that it is really outdated). I have read about users wiping there phone to reinstall it, but there is an easier way.
When I tried to go into OVI to download the facebook app the download button was a dark gray. It's isn't OVI....this time...... It is actually because it's still on your phone. I don't know if this will help everyone, but I got my widget back.
Someone please post this in the review section of the Facebook app on the OVI store. I can't because I wasted my one and only review on bad mouthing OVI. I know a lot of people are looking for this fix and had the same problem as I did.
1. Go to Settings
2. Application Manager
3. Installed Apps
4. Scroll down to 'Facebook Installer' and hit 'Options' and then 'Uninstall'
5. Once it's cleared from the phone you can go back to the OVI store and finally be able download and install once again.
Facebook app hasn't changed at all, but it's back for anyone that has complained about it not being there. There are still no wall posts for this app and no chat which a lot of people are looking for. Hopefully a software update for the app is being worked on and being released soon.

Facebook app stuck at loading

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Facebook app from OVI store (the S60) version for my N97. After punching in the Email and Password, it is perpetually stuck at the "loading" screen. Can't quit the application. Nothing seems to happen. Tried restarting the phone etc. Still not working.
Anyone has similar experience?

I have a Dave Alpha B device.
So the Facebook account does show up under the Blackberry Hub and the Facebook items propagate through the devices calendar.
The problem is that I can't seem to get the Facebook App to launch on the device as it is asking me to "add an account".
When I click on the "add an account" button it takes me to my accounts loaded on the device. I then select the Facebook account and I re enter my password and it verifies. I hit the back button and then I am at the Facebook "add an account" screen again.

Can you not make do with the Facebook app? If facebook chat is a must, try Palringo from Ovi Store.
What happens with your bank's website? I had problems with mine until I started using the D Pad for navigation then it worked fine.

Facebook app on C6 how do I recover?
I accidentally deleted that app and I want to install it again, I search on the OVI store and I get no results the others say there id no face app for this phone only for n97 and 5800 but I had it so it is ridiculous. Also the IM service how do I set it up if it does not show up in the OVI either?

Try going to m.facebook.com on your phone browser, then at the bottom you have an option to download facebook.
Or are you referring to the Social App?

Facebook app settings

I've tried searching to find a solution and I've come up with nothing.
Is there a way to get the Facebook app to use wifi instead of GPRS? I have access to wlan at home and at some other places. Even if I'm connected to wlan the app connects to GPRS. I would like to have a choice. N97 mini

Have you tried to change the Priority of the Destinations that way WIFI be used first? that might help.

Where Do I Find The Original Facebook App For The ...

after updating my firmware i decided to do a fresh install of all my apps rather than use the backup. but i cannot find the original facebook app that was located in the download folder. i know i can download the short cut from the facebook wap site but that produces a silly little icon and i keeps prompting me to log in every time i open the link, the old app used to remember my login details. i have searched the ovi store and it only seems to have the n97 version?
Does anyone know if this app is hosted elsewhere?

Method ..
Now type in the Facebook mobile address http://m.facebook.com. Press Go To.
You are now asked to select an access point. Select the internet access point you intend to use - if it's your mobile connection, highlight the appropriate network connection, or if you are using Wi-Fi, select the WLAN you wish to access or search for a new access point. Press Select.

HT4204 i have an iphone 3g and its saying that my IOS 4.2.1 is current but yet i cant download the facebook app or whatsapp ive updated my itunes but it stil wont let me. some one help it would be greatly appreciated.

The Facebook app now requires iOS 5.0 or later. I believe that 4.2.1 was the last version that Apple released for the 3G. And with the rapid approach of the iPhone 5S and possibly 6 they are no longer supporting the 3G. I would not be surprised to see them stop offering support for the 3GS this time around.

Hi...I am new to this site and it looks like I posted the question in the subject box...my bad.
I have an Iphone 3G which is used as an ipod (phone service plans are too expensive).
I had some apps on it, Facebook being one of them. The device was goins soooo slow (not even 2G of the available 6 being used) so I did as instructed and backed it up, restored it and then put the info back into it. When I tried to download the Facebook app...it said that I had a 4.2.1 system and needed a 4.3 something system? Can anyone provide any help on this or am I doing something wrong?

Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch.

Just got the iPad mini. Why can't I view my Facebook profile? (I'm using the Facebook app) I can open my News Feed but when I go to my page, it comes out with a notice "page doesn't exist, or you don't have permission to view this page" HELP!

It's frustrating to not be able to view my own Facebook page using the iPad mini. I have the iPad 1 and the Facebook app works fine there, I can see my personal FB page with 1. Is this characteristic of the iPad mini only?

Try this:
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If none of those work, delete the app and install it again.

Try closing the Facebook app completely and see if it works ok when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Facebook app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Facebook app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
