N97 Facebook Application Issues.

I did a search and couldn't see a thread already regarding the issue i've got.
Using the widget whenever i go onto it it starts to load the news feed, with the loading bar moving as usual, but then i always get this error.
"Script Alert: Error retrieving news feed: Enexpected response from Server. Parse Error"
this is extremley frustrating as at first i was using it fine, then yesterday i couldn't get it to load the news feed or my wall without this error. So today i took the phone back for an exchange, and low and behold im still getting this error on a brand new N97.

On rare occasions you can persuede a network to give you written permission to get generic nokia firmware installed so it may be possible. That takes a lot of effort to speak to the correct person.
For CPW don't waste your time speaking to the in store sales muppets or so called care point staff. You need to try contacting customer support or the head office by telephone. You can find the 084xxxx numbers on the CPW website.
I think (but not sure) you can get directly through to head office by calling 020 8896 5000.

everytime i want to check my wall i can only see posts until 9th of june....!

I have the same issue. I dont know if this is a result of the firmware update or if it happened prior but it is quite annoying not being able to see your own status & comment back to your contacts' reply to your status. If anybody has figured it out, please help us. =(

N97 facebook app problems

I'm currently having problems with my n97 facebook widget. Whenever I try to connect to it it keeps saying "Connection not availiable". I've been browsing the internet using my brother's wireless network for the first time then I've disabled it so I can use my normal vodafone internet and now my facebook widget won't work. Can anyone help?

I am a huge Nokia fan - and have even defended the N97 when it comes to iPhone users bashing it... but you would not believe on how disappointed I am Nokia have done this.
I too did a soft reset (after serious issues like contacts folder locking up and not allowing me to even access it and various other bugs) and now have lost Facebook, Accuweather etc. The phone is being majorly sold on the facebook application - being dubbed 'The Facebook Phone' - and the truth is it obviously cannot be anymore further than that...
After all... Facebook isn't even available in the Ovi Store for it... so how can it be a Facebook Phone?
Wish someone from Nokia would explain PROPERLY what the hell is going on!?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this (after owning several N-Series phones... 73, 93, 95, 95-2)... but maybe I should of got an iPhone?

N97 facebook pictures problem

I am having a problem with my facebook widget on my n97. There are pictures that when I click on, a big red X shows on my screen. I then try the web based version on the n97 and the pictures load right up no problem.
I have removed and reinstalled the widget to no help.
It happens to most pictures, but not all.
Any ideas? It is really annoying to want to see the pictures in a gallery that have been posted and not be able to flip through them.

I had the same issue.
Removed the app, the installer, upgraded to v20, went into the OVI store and downloaded it again.
You will note in the OVI store there are exactly three (3) Facebook applications. Why? I don't know, someone dropped the ball.
Search 'facebook' and choose the first one 'Facebook for Nokia'.
Since I did that I no longer see the red X.

N97 Facebook App

I am on the currently latest firmware available, I have all my applications on my F: drive to ensure I have memory available for the phone to use, but increasingly I am finding more and more faults and errors with the facebook application to the point where it has become unusable.
I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled, removed from home screen etc, nothing has worked. The application was working perfectly to begin with, now I get nothing but parse errors and cannot do anything on the application.
Does anyone know of a work around (see troubleshooting already attempted) or an update to this app that will be released to deal with these issues, or are we wasting our time attempting to use something so full of bugs?

Google it. There are various Facebook Apps for the N97/5800 out there. The Widget itself and the DCF file, including the one from the OVI Store somehow does not work. There was one post somewhere which offered the SIS version. Basically, it is an installer version that installs (rather re-installs) after you uninstall the current one... the Facebook Widget.
This widget worked for me. All the others including the one direct from OVI did not work.

N97 Facebook App Problem

Hello, i just purchased a Nokia N97 and the Facebook Application on the front screen does not work. It keeps saying "incorrect signature".
I can log into Facebook through the web, but would much prefer to use the phone app.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

You can get Facebook app from Ovi Store , would also suggest visiting Nokia Beta Labs and trying Nokia Social messaging Beta. Works well and gives you the option to use Twitter as well, it has a good widget, and more functionality than the original FB widget.

Facebook Login Issues

Tonight the facebook app starting telling me there was no connection to the internet on my iPad, when infact there was, so after a restart which did not fix the issue I reinstalled the app.
I am now unable to sign on through single sign on in the Settings menu, with it saying 'No internet connection available' and the facebook app says 'Error 1202'.
A Google search suggested I reset the clock which I have done but this has not resolved the issue.

Reinstall or check for updates of the Facebook application and check for any changes. Once done, reset your phone by pressing the power and volume down buttons for 10-15 seconds. Release the buttons and your phone should vibrate. Reset your date and time after your phone restarts. Hope this helps.

Facebook connection issue

I have a problem with the Facebook application. Since yesterday, my application has not been able to refresh my news. I have the following message on my screen : "There was a problem connecting to Facebook. Please check your connection and try again. " My connection is working because I use the WIFI and the 3G, I can use the Internet.
Also, I don't always receive the notifications from the Hub when one of my events is updated.
Who can help me?

I am confused...what device are you using? You have, in your forum profile, a "Bold 9700" listed. But, in your post, you mention "the Hub", which is a BB10 feature. So, please clarify your exact device.

Facebook application

Why does my facebook application not always send me notifications of facebook messages I have received?
I get most of my normal notifications but hardly ever get the notifications of a facebook inbox message.

Well yes the current Facebook app is facing such issue.
But also at times, it takes time to show you the notification and if by chance you view the message on your desktop/laptop by the time it retrieves, it automatically appears as read and never shows you the notofication.
Hope this resolves your Problem!
If your problem has been resolved then would request you to Click on "Like" and accept as "Solution" so that other Advisors doesnt invest their time on this Message anymore.

Tried phone restart, Facebook un installation and reinstall...complete Facebook application removed and download fresh from app store...same problem..
Can anyone suggest what next can be done?

Facebook application Blocked

I bought the Blackberry Torch 9800 from my company. The Facebook application is blocked, message as followed:
"This application have been blocked by your corporate system administrator. Contact your system administrator for more information".
Would you be able to help me to unblocked so that I can used the Facebook via wifi.

If your BB remains activated on your company system, then you need to talk to your BES admins about this...they are enforcing that blockage via BES IT Policy.
If instead you mean that you are separated from your company and no longer using their services, then their BES admins did not properly cleanse your device when they gave it to you. In that case, you need this:

You'll of course need a full backup first, instructions for which you can find in my auto-sig on this post. But, when you restore, be sure to NOT do a full restore...only do a selective restore of only those databases you need (e.g., contacts, calendar, etc.), especially avoiding any databases that have anything to do with IT Policy, Enterprise, etc. If you do restore those, you'll just wind up back where you are now as those will dutifully restore the IT Policy back to your BB.

How does Facebook application utilize Blackberry push based architecture?

I have posted this message in Blackberry Java Development forum. But was told that "if you are not RIM you will not be able to use the push-architecture with BIS".
Here goes the actual message. Please provide your valuable inputs.
I am developing an Blackberry client application which will be similar to Facebook application for Blackberry.
Since, this application can be download by any blackberry user who would be subscribed to different BES or BIS, how will the push based architecture of BB work here.
See my previous post 'Push content to devices on different BES' (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&message.id=3196&jump=true#M3196), which says that push will work through BES.
If that is the case,
How does the FaceBook application for Blackberry work?
Users who download the Fackebook application will definetly not be on the same BES or might be on BIS as well.
Then how will Facebook application receive notificatios and messages instantly using blackberry's push architecture?

Does RIM provide any framework or support for developing facebook like applications which would utilize push architecture irrespective of BES or BIS?

Facebook doesn't use the BlackBerry network, it uses the standard data network. If you're on BES, that typically is routed through your BES server. If you're not on a BES, it will use BIS.
I don't believe the application is a "push" application either - it's more likely a real time IM client.

Facebook application is out of order.

I loaded new update by Facebook application. After then loading, Facebook application has been out of order. O wanna use the application but not open. this application alerts network error

If nothing there helps, try plugging it in with the adapter and picking it up in your left palm to the left of the trackpad and squeeze the case there between your palm and left thumb as you push the power button. Do not let up the pressure on the case. Continue applying this pressure as for several minutes in an attempt to start up. Does pressure on the case there allow it to start up?

Problems with Facebook application for iPhoto 6

Unfortunately, I installed an application from facebook that was supposed to make importing from iPhoto to my facebook page much easier. It basically creates a new export tab next to "file export" that says "facebook", but all it does is make my iPhoto crash whenever I try and export and because the facebook tab is the default tab I can't export at all.
Has anyone heard of this problem? Is there a way to un-install the facebook application?

To uninstall: select iPhoto in the /Applications Folder and go File -> Get Info
In the resulting pane, you'll see a panel called Plug-Ins
You can disable and remove the unwanted plug there.
