N97 FM Transmitter power

I read that the transmitter power from this device is a little bit weak.
If there is a chance that the power level can be configured just like the WIFI transmitter, would you like it?

don't know if such a feature would be included for the FM transmitter, even in the future. performance is inconsistent with any FM transmitter on any Nokia device, a lot of people complain but fail to understand that it depends on the environmental conditions, such as weather, distance from receiver etc. and that the antenna included in phones does quite a good job for its small size, when you relate it to dedicated FM transmitter solutions that you can purchase. and there is the balance between battery life also when you consider the power that it drains.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • Aironet 1310 Transmitter Power??

I have approx 20 Cisco Aironet 1300 AP's that I use as Bridges to connect Various wide-spread, non-adjoining offices together. I do not have any problems as such, but obviously, some of the connections are stronger/faster than others due to various factors. But 1 thing I have noticed is that some of the AP's radios are rated (Transmitter Power CCK/OFDM) at 50mw and some at 20mw, and generally the 50mw AP's link seems to be faster. Therefore I have tried my best to upgrade the 20mw to 50mw - matching the radio settings, upgrading the IOS - but it doesn't change. All the AP's were purchased at roughly the same time and from the same vendor.
I have tried a few IOS's, but most of the AP's have 12.4.3g.
Can anyone explain this and/or help me upgrade to 50mw if it is possible.

  • Range with reduced transmitter power?

What is the approx. range in meters/feet of an AirPort Extreme when transmitter power is set to 10%, 25%, 50%, or 100%?
Same question for Airport Express. Set to 802.11n only. In an unrestricted environment. For a good to very good reception.
Any infos appreciated. Also to manuals. Thanks.

That information is not published anywhere. A rough estimate is that it decreases as 1/d^2. The free space range is approximately 150 feet at sea level at full power.
If you know about decibels then a 50% decrease in power will reduce the received signal by 6 db.

  • Aironet 1600 Transmitter power: error

Under the 2.4ghz status I see:
    Transmitter Power
    error
Which i believe is the culprit for weak wireless and also choppy connection to AP.
    attached is config
Also I'm using cisco power injector which says its non-cisco which it is!!
Help guys no one in cisco has answer they just send me to different people and now I'm HERE!!
    John!

Along with CDP you should also set the power inline. Is the power injector the one listed here?
    Powering Options
    ? 802.3af Ethernet Switch
    ? Cisco AP1600 Power Injectors (AIR-PWRINJ4=, AIR-PWRINJ5=)
    ? Cisco AP1600 Local Power Supply (AIR-PWR-B=)
Caution When using the power inline negotiation injector override command, a power injector must always be installed to prevent a possible overload condition with an underpowered power source.

  • CIsco AIR-SAP1602E - transmitter power error

    Hi,
Because of end-of-life of the wireless AP 1140 series, we decided to switch to the 1600 series.
We have now several AIR-SAP-1602E devices which show the same behaviour:
On the web interface, there is an error indicated for the transmitter power (see screenshot attached).
Question: Is this a known issue (bug in the interface?,...) or is there actually something wrong.
Output power is measured to be about 3db lower than compared with the 1142.
Attached are the supported dual band Cisco Antenna's.
    Regards,
    Dimitri Hofman

    Hello,

I would make a few changes also. Remove TKIP from the encryption. If you use WPA2 then you should match that up with AES. If you were to use WPA then you use TKIP. Also I would remove the antenna gain from each of the radios
    Example:
    encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm
    ssid TOM2
    no antenna gain 4

Hello i'm the owner of a nokia n97,laster sofware version 21.0.0.045v.I can't activate the fm transmitter.I selecte it and it asks me if i want to activate it (yes/no )but i select yes and nothing i mean nothing happens it just stays turned off
is it a bug?   Thank's for reply
Ce traiesc eu intr-un e46 330ci in cateva minute nu traiesc altii intr-o viata intreaga

It's a pain to do, but it's often advisable to reset the phone after a software upgrade, as there could be conflict between the settings you had on the previous software and the new  version !
If you decide to do it, backup your contacts, calendar and notes ONLY, dial *#7370# followed by 12345 and the phone will reset, you will need to set it up as though it was a new phone, and it should resolve your problem, if the FM transmitter still fails to work it may be a hardware issue and you will need a care centre. I have an N97 on the same firmware and it works fine !
    Good Luck

  • N97 fm transmitter problem

my N97,software version v22.0.110, typeRM-505 has a  fm transmitter bt it doesnt work, it doesnt even turn on, wen i try to turn it on it says 'activate fm transmitter' wen i hit yes it doesnt change, it remains off! do u guys have any solution??

I also upgraded to this firmware and lost FM Transmitter application....
I don't know how to it back.... :-(

  • N97 fm transmitter...................................

my phone freeze when i use the fm transmitter...... after finish 1 song.... my phone freeze...... cannot switch to other song...... help.....

Since I have yet to actually see or hear of a solution to this problem, I have been giving it some thought. I recently bought the CA-75U video out cable, and was having trouble getting the video to show up. Audio came through fine, but no video. Through some persons wonderfuul posting, I was able to get it to work - the solution was to configure the 4 pin port on the top of the N97 to have the one pin I normally use as a microphone INPUT, to be reconfigured as a video OUTPUT. It was a simple matter of setting some parameters in the settings  to do this.
So, here is what I was thinking - why not change this same pin (microphone IN / video OUT) as an antenna OUT for the FM transmitter? Then you could plug in your special "antenna wire" to allow it to transmit a stronger signal to the FM receiver.
I realize this will take some research to do properly (for example, what happens when a call comes in and you have an "antenna" connected where you need a microphone? ) But I am sure someone at Nokia could come up with a set of rules that could make this happen (Maybe only allow bluetooth headset when using the "antenna" input mode?).
Has anyone from Nokia thought of doing this? Is it possible? Is there anther solution to make the FM transmitter actually usable?

  • N97 does not power on at all - only blue light sho...

    Hi all,
purchased a used N97 the other day, which according to the seller had sustained a virus when opening an email. He told me it wouldn't power on, I was hoping it could be solved with hard reset and took the plunge, but unfortunately no luck.
    Symptoms:
    * When the charger is connected, the blue light on the upper right corner of the phone lights up
    * When I push the power on button, the blue light on the upper right corner of the phone lights up
    * When I try to hard reset..... take a wild guess.... aye, the blue light on the upper right corner of the phone lights up
Now I'm not sure whether the guy spoke the truth about the virus, he might as well have been attempting to flash the firmware or whatsoever. My question is if anybody recognises the phenomenon, and if there's a cure or possible suggestion of how to problem solve this error?
    Cheers
    //Joris

You're probably right that it's a fake - had a closer look last night and saw that for one the LCD isn't the size it's supposed to be either:
Measured diagonally the screen is 2.95", not 3.5". It's apparently a clone, although I haven't managed to find anything resembling it on eBay or google - the known clones only have 2Gb, this one does have 32Gb according to lettering on the mechanism under the front lid when it slides open. Might add that it feels sturdy and all, so it's at least a half-decent clone (albeit broken )
Trying to get my money back but seller insists it's original. Luckily I didn't pay a lot for it and it seems I can at least use the battery in my current E90. Let's hope that's a good quality fake battery at least
Thanks for the reply and feedback!

  • Nokia N85 FM Transmitter power

    Hi,
What is the transmission power of N85 and covered distance.
Is there any Build in antenna for the trans.. or need to connect
headset. If in build antenna means may i use it for FM receiver.
    Thank you

The FM Transmitter will not work with a headset plugged in. Also the power output has to be limited as you have actually become a radio station. It would depend on your country.

    Hello,
I bought a Nokia N97 (White) recently. and using 11.0.21 firmware but can't find FM Transmitter option in "Option" even connectivity and no where in apps. I searched everywhere and can't find anything related to FM Transmitter.
    Anyone have idea ???

if it is possible you would have to google for it as methods that you would have to use can not be discussed on this forum. also understand that it will void your warranty but you are in another country so the Hong Kong warranty does not apply to you anyway.

  • N97 FM Transmitter is not working in nokia maps

Hi. I don't know if this topic was already discussed here. I didn't find it.
If I have activate the fm-transmitter in my car and nokia maps is running as well, the output of the music comes over the radio, but the output voice of nokia maps comes over the phone. If any advise comes from nokia maps, the connections interrupt via fm-transmitter completly. During the time of the nokia maps advise both, music and nokia maps, sending the sound via phone. Is there any possibility to avoid that problem? Thanks for any help.

This feature is not currently supported by Nokia Maps. (despite it being included in the previous versions of Ovi Maps)
Many Betalabs Users have been requesting this feature for a long time.
To add your support, please join nokia beta labs (if not already) and support the following post:
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-maps-suite-2-0/suggestion/48288/voice-navigation-over-fm-transm...
It is interesting to note that somewhere in the Nokia chain this request has been denied. I have suggested a petition from us (users) may give the Nokia development team the support they need to gain approval for this.
