N97 Inputs

Hi,
Does any one have all the input options like it shows on this review
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxMIXTi9NX8&feature=related
i mean the keyboard input option like on screen full keyboard and mini keyboard for the styles is it only on the international version or it isn't exit at all. and a lot more problems and troubles with the new and the old firmware what is going on nokia people? as no body from nokia listening for all these complains?
shame on you nokia, it is the first time i got disappointed ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

There is no onscreen virtual keyboard. The only input you have virtually is the t9 aka numerical keypad or the handwriting option, whereby you use your fingernail or stylus to write manually on the screen. someusers have said that they have seen the virtula keyboard appear shortly when they have accessed some applications. So it seems as if it is in the phone, but disabled. Hopefully Nokia will put in back in a newer firmware update but do not hold me to this. I have had no bugs in my n97 hence I am not updating to the new firmware.
History is a mirror of the past!
And a lesson for the present!

  • (ASK) Japanese Input on N97

Is there any ways to type Japanese on my N97 phone?
I already sent an email to nokia's customer service, but their reply bring me down...
"Phones that support Japanese language would be sold in Japan where the language is mainly spoken. Authorized service centers are not able to help you to add this feature on the phone."
I think Nokia should change it's Connecting People thing...
I can't contact my friend in Japan at this rate
Is there anyone here that can help me to type Japanese on N97 phone? thank you

There are acutally a great chance that a Nokia care point can help you with this even though they told you not in the mail reply.
Find your nearest care point and give them a call to hear if it's possible to get it installed as a language pack. It will most likely cost you if they choose to do it. If you get a no, then it's nothing I can help you with.

  • **** N97 , Display/input Language Problem **** (Ch...

i wan to use English as display language, and i also hope i can see chinese too as msg which i received cant display chinese + the music folder and i wan input chinese as well to rename my folders/files, ... so i wish who can ask me about this , i really thanks him/her .

Uh, ok, so your english is not perfect, but I'll try to see what I understand.
You want phone language to be english, but you want it to be able to show chinese as well? You'll have to install a third party font pack application which supports both english and chinese. Like this one:

  • NO ADDRESS INPUT OPTION N97

Hi all, I have just purchase an N97. I  have updated to the latest Nokia maps but I also cannot find any where to type in an address. I have deleted Nokia maps from the apps manager and the old version of Ovi maps is there and I can easily find the area to type in an address. Te oly problem I see with this is that the licence is only valid for a few months.
Does any one have any idea's please?

"looks like you may have not carried out part 2."
Or maybe you are expecting an address entry form, line by line?
    Try:
    Search
Then enter address: Country City Street Number
    All in one line

  • N97 Chinese Text Input

Has anyone tried to input Chinese characters in text messaging? Apparently I can't do it even when I have selected my writing language as Chinese. It kept showing Abc input and not the Hanyu Pinyin. Can someone help me? Thank you.
    Jaime

Yeah, I went to an "Official Nokia Repair Centre" and they said that it will be possible to put chinese on it, but only when that version has been released - the phone has not yet been released out there, so the firmware is not available. However, they caution that installing it will cause the warranty to be void.
I double checked this with the Nokia China website, and true enough, they are still asking for e-mails if yo want to know when the release date will be / pre-order one. I can't imagine that's too far, probably shortly after the software update coming on Friday [pure speculation, no source].... I just hope that they get a move on, and in future release global phones like apple (where every language comes pre-installed)!!!!
    hmm, vent over
anyway, wei9898, I quite agree, offering a dictionary for simplified Chinese and not bundling it with the requisite firmware is somewhat unintelligent.

  • My experience with the N97 - "my last Nokia"

    Hi everyone,
I know this is a user-to-user support forum but I believe a complaint to be some sort helps users to decide whether the N97 is for them or not. Before you read on, this post will contain comparisons to competitors, so if you hate apples, feel free to ignore me! (Also I don't think users should stop harassing Nokia for what they have done to us - the more complaints the better. Igoring customers is not a very good corporate strategy. Eventually it will take them down - people buy Nokia for quality, otherwise they could buy a rip-off from ebay).
Just skimming over the posts shows me that I am not alone. So let me share my experience with Nokia and the N97. I am too tired complaining about this phone, at least I think my experience has made sure that no-one of my friends and relatives is ever going to buy a Nokia again.
When I bought the phone for then 500 pounds at the Nokia flagship store in London it seemed nice enough. Good camera, decent keyboard and features competitors could only dream of. Unfortunately, that's paperwork. For a start, the much advertised facebook application was completely disfunctional and taking into account that Nokia clearly tried to compete with the iphone (my apologies again for mentioning a competitor) frankly a lame joke. I know a firmware update has somewhat relieved the situation now, but I will come to that later.
Okay, so I have disabled the facebook application. Not a drama, surely the rest will work okay. But then after a week some of the pictures I took with the built-in camera weren't accessible anymore (broken image displayed). Again, I have another camera and I was hoping for a firmware update so I ignored it. I had now started using the joikuspot app to browse the internet on my linux box. Very nice. I started using email a lot on my phone but again was disappointed. I have a £165 ipod touch here. Without kinetic scrolling and an extremely bad UI design, by which I mean the icons and menus (ignoring the graphics flaws all the time) it is no match for the ipod, so what i did was to use joiku spot with my ipod touch. Before that firmware update the N97s browser was also still buggy so I used joikuspot for that too. I was now down to using my £500 smartphone as a wireless modem. What a shame. But I was still hoping for some kind of magic update.
Then finally, I found out about the firmware update. I had to open my phone, check the serial and visit the Nokia website. Unfortunately, the Ovi software and drivers supplied with the phone did not recognize my N97 properly. Something which I think was fixed with the firmware update (anyone seeing a circular dependency here? ) Furthermore, the built-in firmware update over 3G seemed to be disabled. So I made the journey back to the flagship store in London, explaining the problem. I was greeted by an extremly rude employee. Well, I think that's not really his fault, I guess he was just sick of all the complaints. Anyways, I told him that the 3G update was not working and he started to be really patronizing telling me that I wouldn't listen to him (he said it was "working" but "disabled"). Maybe I should have told him that I am a software engineer and that in 99.9% of the cases in which we disable a feature, the reason is that it is "not working". Anyways, he kindly allowed me to use one of their machines to update the firmware "at my own risk", which worked. At no point I have received an apology for the fact that I have paid Nokia £500 to beta-test their products.
Now of course, the firmware update has succeeded, but is all fine? Far from it.... As many report on this forum the N97s battery meter is faulty. Countless times, my phone has just literally died overnight. It even forgets time and date! This is more than bad - every phone I have had so far complained about a draining battery well in advance. I had to dig out my old phone to serve as an alarm clock again - the fact that the alarm clock itself is unreliable is a alltogether different matter... One time the battery died during the day - after doing nothing for 4 hours in my sports bag (started with 1 bar down). When I had to make a call that day, for the first time in I don't know how many years I had to use a telephone box. Progress?!
The firmware update has also barely improved the email client - just a few ui glitches solved. However, the biggest issue at the moment seems to be the weird memory organization. When I buy a phone I don't want to deal with something like the c drive problem. Reinstalling applications on the 32gb partition helps somewhat but why didn't Nokia do that in the first place? Has this phone never been tested? The phone is still way too slow.
I can't comment on the iplayer app - says it needs wlan to work. But the youtube player has crashed every time i used it. And by crashing I mean it took down the whole phone with it. I admit that my ipod crashed a few times too - in just under a year (~3 times). But the reset was straightforward every time. With the N97, the only thing that seems to help is to take the battery out!
Before I forget, the N97 doesn't even work as a phone. In a 30 minute conversation, the call got dropped 4 times. I don't know whether it was because of a calibration issue with the proximity sensor or a more serious problem, all I know is that this is unacceptable!
I am sick of the phone and Nokia's service. The joikuspot app ran out and asks me to pay... I have paid £500 pounds for the bloody phone already. The adobe reader asks me to pay... (somehow it ran out without me even using it). Maybe you see why I am getting angry now - the only use case that actually put the N97 on top of my old phone was gone. What infuriated me even more, is that Nokia bundles this software with the phone. It cannot actually be deinstalled! It just sits there merrily and takes up my hard drive space.
Last but not least, I have written to Nokia already, but not received a response! This is a Nokia forum with Nokia employees following the posts. I would be very, very, very grateful if Nokia could give me a refund. However, with them not even acknowledging the various problems I somehow don't see that coming. I'll probably have to sell it with a massive loss on ebay.
    Cheers,
    Will
P.s.: I have all the same small issues as the other guys here - slider lock at the side not working etc. You are not alone... Has anyone complained about the music player? I have 16gb of music on the phone and scrolling is impossible! The Symbian OS is so obviously not built for a touch screen that it hurts. Of course they don't put much music on the phones in the Nokia store so people only find out when they get home...

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

hi ! the nokia n97 is a really an amazing device. It keeps up to the promise of live online 24 x 7. I discovered it and wanted to share. Still there are some unanswered questions and if any vetran could help would really appreciate.
i am an user from India. and have the n97 for about 3-4 weeks now. Practically I have been living online 24 x 7 as The list of unexpected issues that a nokia n97 offers seems unending, some of which i am narrating have made me scout on the web to try n search answers. Not that i will be able to action information you provide instantly. My new phone has gone for reparis(sic), so once its back can do that & will acknowledge your replies.
    My Quests:
    1. First things first! How to request for & get refunds for a Nokia Phone in India.
    2. Is there a touch querty as an input method? like windows mobile ? Request Know How. I now seem to agree to the feedback on one of the blogs.. that nokia designers feel that the average size of user hands would be that of big people & fingers like a japaneese teen. The physical keyboard does not seem to offer any additional functions other than text input !
    3. Predictive text where in the touch screen menu, the words dont get auto completed. This increases the number of taps/input strokes. Is the n97 intelligent & learn words from sms, contacts, emails. my blackberry does so. Request Know How & any options to edit custom dictionary. Auto Punctuation ? Am i expecting too much already ?
    4. Single hand use of phone impractical using touch pad t9. Entering alphanumerics on the physical querty is a nightmare... Request Know how on tips & tricks.
    5. Green tick yes or v button on top left of the text input screen. friendly again only for big handed people. Could this have been at bottom right. Is alternate screen for text input touch t9 available? Requested Know how.
    6. Unnecessary taps additional taps alomost in all menus...for eg.. sending a biz card from n97 requires 5 taps... in the other mobile phone systems it can be done in 3 taps. Requested Knowhow for shortcuts.
    7. Can In a nokia we get a view of the entire events as single thread.... No Provision for search display against keywords upon I can get call logs, messages - Here in Nokia, no search filters / advanced search and all searches results plotted to applications vs person/events. Requested Know How if it can be done like blackberry / windows mobile.
    8. Copy & Paste across applications. eg. Select text from web page copy n paste on message application.... possible on Nokia...? Requested Know How
    9. Call& Event Logs e.g Missed calls. If there are 5 missed calls the log will show the last called time only. In most other mobile systems Blackberry, windows each event is logged against a user. Requested know how on how this is handled in Nokia.
    10. Lag in picture display upon call. Number displays first and after few seconds lag the pic pops up. Is this normal & acceptable ? Other windows / rim devices show it instantly.
    11. When will Nokia enable usage of Native clients like google talk, yahoo like blackberry, iphone ? Any know how on possibility of release. Any equal alternatives suggested for n97. Tried Nimbuzz, Fring, Ebuddy. Miss the chat message notification icon on home screen, notification on the chat messaging icon, sound, breathing lights.
    12. Is there any planning for better email client? Likely Release dates?
    13. The Java App for GMAIL on blackberry shows an indicator on icon in addition to customised alert setting tone & breathing light for new messages. Retreiving Emails is consistent & auto on other devices. The Nokia Does not seem to auto refresh + No Notification. How is it handled on Nokia ?
    14. Can user friendliness be something where we can do actions with a contact or on contacts screen single view... e.g see contact on google map, Help on contacts screen/n97 help, lookup contact on server, filter by category. new address, new group, view, edit, delete, activity log (incl sms, mms, email, calls), call, sms, mms, email, send as attachment, send as im, add a custom ring tone, add picture, options - sort by, separators, sync settings, actions, switch
applications, exit. We have seen it on inexpensive phones. is it possible to be done on Nokia?
SOME OF MY STILL UNRESOLVED PROBLEMS Post upgrade to ver 12. Did you also face similar bugs/issues?
    15. Contacts inaccessible – “Memory Full Error”. No other applications were active at the time of the error. Just unable to reach any of my 3500 contacts through the contacts options & do anything.
    16. Pbk2 error upon selecting contacts in the messaging application.
    17. Audio Delay upon receiving a call. No Sound upon connection of incoming call. Especially if picked up too fast.
    18. Shows as searching for network constantly many times a day. We have 2 n97s & observed that both n97 almost have similar timing of network loss. Whereas, our other devices like blackberry do not show any weak signal signs.
    19. GPS Lock. Keeps searching for GPS locks constantly i.e Drops connection to GPS network frequently.
    20. Unpredictive battery talk time, standby & required Charge time.
    21. Voice inaudible at other end, when using loudspeaker & especially during calls from moving vehicle.
    22. Camera:
    a. Picture clarity issues. Secondary camera highly pixelated. Primary camera shows light flooding on pictures. Clarity Missing.
    b. Erroneous Time stamp on images.
c.Lens Cover Started to show minor scratch pressure.
    23. Ovi Suite recommends erroneous updates for E.g Maps 3
    24. Text Input touch t9 screen freezes / Hangs, especially when entering special characters like period(.), comma(,), exclamation (!) etc
    25. Selectively & at random contact Name not displayed on Caller ID (sometimes)
    26. Selectively Message & Message delivery display number, instead of stored contact names.
    27. Sync Issue, All contacts not synced always.
How to sync "categories" field as stored in outlook or how to map custom fields to Nokia.
    28. Format Mass Memory error, Unable to format. Unable to delete specific files.
    29. The auto lock... When attempted to unlock with querty out .. it still opens in portrait mode ?
    30. SMS Logs Not updated. e.g any sms sent before storing a contact.... after storing or adding
contact the number does not get automatically updated to the name. It reflects the number still in the logs.
    31. Picture caller... The face is half cut ..Looks weird on most images... as the number is not transparent. In landscape mode there is enough space on the screen to put up the answer or reject buttons and displaying the numbers.
    32. Browser will close on its own & return to menu or home screen.
thanks in advance for your time to stop & read. Pls do send any information that you think will be useful to me for making the n97 do some work.
    NEW additions:
    (tested on another n97)
    33. Predictive Text :
Usage for auto word completion only on physical keyboard, when the Dpad down key is used it throws up options but the way the scroll is designed you can see the full word and one makes mistakes.
    34. another strange behaviour is on the text input... this was on an email i was trying to reply. the stylus touch will paste the last keyed in word !! we wonder why.
    35. and while showing off the second n97 we have (again 3-4 weeks old) - we were asked how much did we pay for this second hand unit - 50% off .. apparently the comment as the surface has got scratched very badly.
i hope the info is good use to others who want to take the risk of buying this device

  • Problems with N97 after upgrade to v11 software

Hi, after upgrading to v11, I thought I found my N97 slower. For example, the time take from the click of the "New message" icon till the time the SMS message writing app is ready for input can sometimes take like 3 seconds. Does any have a similar experience?
Also, not sure if it matters that much, but it does make me uncomfortable. The "C:" drive has only about 10MB free. It was like 20MB before my firmware upgrade (which is plenty too small still, imho). This is even after clearing the web browser cache (which I suspect is going into "C:" drive). Is this something to worry about? Is there a way to increase free space? What happens when I run out of space?
    Regards,
    .lzs

i have 32 megs of ram
    35.1M phone memory
    28.1 GB on flash memory
    this is with the following
    on the c i have installed :
ovi mpas ( cant chose where it installs for the most of these apps/services)
    accu
adtronic (a part of profile scheduler)
    amazon
    api bridge
    ap news
    bloomberg
    facebook
    facebook installer
    license manager
    ovi store client
    slideshow
    youtube
i think this is most of it
and the phone is actually faster then it was prior to update. i do clean the cache diligently as it does take up some space. i have not run out of memory yet. make sure all the apps and stuff that  you don't need are not running in the background

  • Message problem on n97

strange problem on my n97 . . every time i reply to an incoming text message its saves straight to drafts folder before i can reply anybody else had this problem or know how to put right

heres something ive found are you using the traditional text or qwerty
Delivery reports can be turned on - they pop up once the message reaches the addressee, and are then saved in a separate folder in the messaging sub-menu. When you are exiting the message editor without having sent the message, you get prompted to save it in Drafts or discard it.
Here might just be the right time to mention the input options on Nokia N97. The handset offers a standard alphanumeric on-screen keypad in both portrait and landscape mode.

The alphanumeric keypad is available in both portrait and landscape modes
Of course the hardware QWERTY is here to solve all your problems. It’s just three rows and you need to use the function key for accessing the numbers and symbols, but that’s no biggie.
Finally, the Nokia N97 offers handwriting recognition, which did a rather decent job, recognizing almost all the letters we scribbled in the box. You can improve its performance by taking the handwriting training - where you actually show the handset how you write each different letter.

  • N97 Copy & Past missing?

How can I copy urls from the browser, or past passwords into my wlan configuration? On my N95, there was a dedicated key for copy&past but this key has been stripped by Nokia on the N97. I could live with that, if there would be a key combination equal to CTRL+C and CTRL+V, however I could not find such a combo on the querty keyboard.
I know that in some cases (like in the text message app) there is a copy&past function hidden in the options menu, but this is app specific. How come the most powerful Nseries device no longer supports systemwide copy&past while its competitors (*cough* iphone *cough*) finally got it working?
Another thing (related to this issue): how can I input the following password to my wireless lan?
    adlq/=2$)=`vkne
I could not find the ` character in the special chars table. And since I can't copy this symbol from a text file, I see no way to input this password on my N97. :-(

s there cut, copy and paste?
Steve: Yes, but not with hotkeys (Ctrl C etc), annoyingly - it has to be done via 'Editing options - Copy' etc on the Options menu in each application now.

  • Cut, copy,and paste on nokia n97

can someone please help me. I dont know how to cut, copy, and paste on my nokia n97
    6680,n70,n73,n80,n80ie,n82,n95,innov8,n85, n97, N8, lumia 920

I had some difficulty locating this 3 line icon myself.
Turns out that if you close the screen down and tap the input box on the web page you want to paste the text into, up pops an application (text entry I suppose, anyway it has a load of stuff, green tick top left, and then this magical 3 line icon, followed by what I assume is the predictive text input status, a keyboard icon, left/right arrow keys, backspace, and then your usual phone pad entry).  Tap the 3 line icon and the text you copied earlier is pasted into the text display area of this app.  Then hit the green tick and it gets pasted into the field you first double clicked on in the web page.
    I hope that helps?
BTW, doesn't matter what orientation the screen is in using this method, just that the screen is folded flat back on the phone to hide the qwerty keyboard.

  • User interface annoyances in N97

I just basically wanted to nag about few really annoying features in hope that Nokia might actually read this post. Please feel free to reaply and add to this list.
    Unlocking announcements
Due to security, my phone locks itself every 60 minutes when inactive. With unlocking I punch in the 5 digit code and OK. After this N97 shows me code accepted sign for like 3 seconds. Yes. Great. My code was accepted - can I please use the phone now.
Suggestion: just open the phone lock right after fifth digit - no OK button and especially no Code accepted boxes for many seconds.
    Discarding an incoming call
Phone rings and I don't want to answer. I have to slide my finger across, wait for the phone to open and then discard the call. I tend to push the touchscreen many times because it feels very unresponsive in this situation as it flips between portrait and landscape mode (yes I know I can disable this). Does the red discard button even work?
Suggestion: have three sliders available for each incoming call. One for answering, one for discarding and one for opening the phone (this could also be left up to the open phone button on the side).
    Back- button for web browser
I have googled something, checked one result and want to go back. This requires me to open the menu from bottom right hand corner arrow, select back and then select the screen I want to go back to. Three clicks to go back. Great.
Suggestion: just go back one page by sliding finger across the screen from right to left.
    Alarm time in active desktop
I set the alarm, but when going to bed I want to check if it was the right time. I have to open the phone and try to hit the minute area with bell icon, or push the clock and select alarms.
Suggestion: just please put the alarm time to active desktop
    Next meeting is tomorrow
Fantastic. According to my calendar widget I have a next meeting on friday december 4th. I wonder what meeting that is and when?
Suggestion: just let the widget show the next meeting facts directly

Hi, I don't really suffer all your problems and really like it, but a couple of suggestions for you , try find Calender Outlook For Nokia on web, I found it whilst browsing for appa and it works as a widget on home screen and scrolls through your calender and notes at an interval you can adjust and I find it useful. Secondly try Opera Mini 5 beta as a web browser, and have it as a shortcut on home screen, vastly superior to standard browser.
    Good Luck
Ps for swiping answer, have you caliberated your touch screen in menu/settings/phone/touch input/touch screen calibration. Don't know if it will help, but it certainly won't do any harm !
If I have helped at all, a click on the White Star is always appreciated :

  • N97 Touch Screen

I have an N97 and every day now the screen will stop responing to touch input. I think this is a hardware issue as i have always updated the firmware as soon as its released and I have the same problem no matter the firmware.
Resetting and turning off/on again doesnt solve it. Just have to lock the screen and rub my thumb over the entire screen and it seems to start working again.
Could part of the touch screen be getting stuck down?
Any body else have the same problem?
its my first nokia after having 10 years of sony ericsson's. can i get replacement touch screens anywhere?

  • N97 fm transmitter...................................

my phone freeze when i use the fm transmitter...... after finish 1 song.... my phone freeze...... cannot switch to other song...... help.....

Since I have yet to actually see or hear of a solution to this problem, I have been giving it some thought. I recently bought the CA-75U video out cable, and was having trouble getting the video to show up. Audio came through fine, but no video. Through some persons wonderfuul posting, I was able to get it to work - the solution was to configure the 4 pin port on the top of the N97 to have the one pin I normally use as a microphone INPUT, to be reconfigured as a video OUTPUT. It was a simple matter of setting some parameters in the settings  to do this.
So, here is what I was thinking - why not change this same pin (microphone IN / video OUT) as an antenna OUT for the FM transmitter? Then you could plug in your special "antenna wire" to allow it to transmit a stronger signal to the FM receiver.
I realize this will take some research to do properly (for example, what happens when a call comes in and you have an "antenna" connected where you need a microphone? ) But I am sure someone at Nokia could come up with a set of rules that could make this happen (Maybe only allow bluetooth headset when using the "antenna" input mode?).
Has anyone from Nokia thought of doing this? Is it possible? Is there anther solution to make the FM transmitter actually usable?

Hi all I have been trying to get my wireless working on my N97 at work which uses WPA/WPA2 and after a week and lots configuration changes I finally got it working, So I thougt I will share this
Since my work WLAN uses EAP-PEAP I needed the root ca certificate which i got from my network team.
So the first thing I did was send the cert to my phone and saved it
To do this I sent the cert to my phone eg E:downloads folder
I then went to file manger and found the cert under E:download folder
I doubled clicked the folder and was promted to save which I did
The cert will be installed under Setting-->Phone-->Phone Mangement-->Security     Settings-->Certf mangement -->Authority certificate
Next you need to setup a new access point to do this i did:
    go to Settings-->Connectivity-->Destinations-->Access point(add new)
you will then be promted to auto check to available access points which you will click yes
select the wlan you like to connect to and select internet
After doing the above go to Settings-->Connectivity-->Destinations-->Internet-->your wireless network ....open this to edit
    Connection name -- leave defautl
    Data bearer --leave default
Wlan Network name -- leave default
    Network status -- leave default
    Wlan network mode --leave default
    WLAN security mode -- WPA/WPA2
    Homepage --leave default
    user access point --leave defualt
the only thing to change is WLAN security setting to do this
    Double click WLAN security setting
    WPA/WPA2 -- EAP
    WPA2 only mode --off
    Double click EAP plugin settings
    enable EAP-PEAP
    disable the rest
    Double click EAP-PEAP to edit
    Pesonal certificate ---Not defined
Authority certificate -- click and select the on you saved in the begining
User name in user -- user selected
User name -- your user name
Realm in use -- user selected
    Realm -- your domain
    TLS privacy --off
    Allow PEAPv0 -- Yes
    Allow PEAPv1 --no
    Allow PEAPv2 --no
click right with the key pad or press the right arrow on top
enable EAP-MSCHAPv2 and disable the rest
    Double click EAP-MSCHAPv2
User name -- you user name
    Prompt passsword -- YES
    Password -- you password
After this go back to Setting -->conectivity-->WLAN network
search for you WLAN select it and it should work..
    this configuration worked for me

Hi guys, got some problems with my n97 and the eduroam eap-peap with mschap v2.
so we got this thing new in university, and i'm not able to connect to it.
all the iphone/windows guys just connect to the wlanpoint, accept the certificate, enter their userdata (without a realm ..) and its on. as we all know, its not that easy with symbian (and android) mobiles.
I allways find the eduroam with full signal strength, and add an accesspoint with the right settings.
I searched about an hour and i am sure i got the right settings.
    Connection name -- blablabla
    Data bearer --wlan
    Wlan Network name -- eduroam
    Network status -- open
    Wlan network mode --infrastructure
    WLAN security mode -- 802.1x
    Double click WLAN security setting
    WPA/WPA2 -- EAP
    eap-only and at pos.1
    Pesonal certificate ---Not defined
Authority certificate -- the certificate i downloaded from university (same as on IPhone, PC..)
User name in user -- user selected
User name -- eighter username@domain and blank realm or only username and domain in the realm field
Realm in use -- user selected
    Realm -- see username
    TLS privacy --off
    Allow PEAPv0 -- Yes
    Allow PEAPv1 --no
    Allow PEAPv2 --no
enabled EAP-MSCHAPv2 and disabled the rest
User name -- you user name
    Prompt passsword -- YES
    Password -- you password
So i can't connect to it, i try to connect to it and after a while it wants me to put my username and passwort in it (when i use prompt password yes of course). i enter it, enter the password. after a while it asks me a second time.. after i do it again it says
    EAP-PEAP Authentification failed
For me, as a technical interested guy, it seems to me, that the logininformation is not correct or not transfered correctly. Why else should it ask me a second time to input it.
But i tried all possibilities, even with other domains ... other possibility, that my account is banned is not possible because i tried it with an other one an it didnt work too.
I dont have a clue why this doesnt work.. as said before, i really tried every username possibility (leave it blank, with domain, without...)
thats what we got from the IT-Guys (some information):

It would be great if anyone got some help for me =)
btw: sorry for my english, i am german as you can imagine when you look at the pdf file

  • N97 with cyrillic keyboard in USA?

    Hi,
Can I buy N97 phone with cyrillic keyboad and localization in USA?
This phone has HW keyboard and no virtual keyboard available, so typing russian texts is almost impossibe.
I think other nationalities would be happy also to get phone with their own language.
    Thanks.
