  • ANOTHER N97 INTERNET RADIO THREAD N97

    Hi
I have now owned the nokia n97 for 2 months, in this time I have spent 1-2 hours per day trying to find a work around for internet radio so I can listen at work or in the car/ on foot.
somebody tell  me I can not do this, I have spent so much time now trying to get a certain station to work correctly, here is the station:
Help me to get this link to play: http://www4.talksport.net
    at present I have tryed:
    http://www.vradio.org/index.php?js=a
    http://download11.getjar.com/downloads/web/pub/59237/VRadio.jar
    http://www.vesihiisi.org/symbian/
    http://handheld.softpedia.com/progDownload/LCG-Jukebox-Symbian-Download-24344.html (lcgjukebox)
non of these support my favorite station
during my intense googling and trial and errors using various links with various players I have only been able to make a small amount of progress, and the fact that I have bothered to write this is testament to my anger and building frustration at nokia and the so called flagship n97. it is especially painful when my previous phone the n95 did almost everything asked of the device, ok you get the point I am very very angry.
in my continuing battle with this program I have been able to make some baby steps:
    http://www.moodio.fm
    mms://utv-talksportUK.wm.llnwd.net/utv_talksportUK?h=7db17f50187ccb367fa11332af5dfba8 (nokia 5800 stream working)
using moodio AND MY NOKIA 5800 I am able to find about 15 different streams that allow me to listen to my favorite stream at the top of the page. all I have to do is register save the links on my pc, then log into my moodio account from my phone, click the link and real or nokia player boots up and the station will stream. HAPPY DAYS!!
NO not happy days because I thought a good upgrade would be the n97 which absolutely will not play the stream, I have the latest firm ware update and java and everything else is enabled on the phone, also won’t connect using my home network!
ok so the rage against the machine continues, I have have come up with this: (using N97)
http://coreplayer.com/ (currently only 3rd edition symbian but works if you force it)
http://utv-talksport.wm.llnwd.net/utv_talksport (put this link into coreplayer)
so I am now at this point, and what a very long time it has taken to get here, anyway this will stream for 5 - 10 minutes if your lucky then the application will loose connection and you have to exit and restart, which I have been doing but I am ready to throw my phone into the river because of this massive inconvenience.
the time I have put into this operation is unhealthy, yes I am sad but I just want to listen on my nokia n97. I am almost ready to give up on nokia and go to the iphone as my misses has plenty of apps that play this stream correctly which is even more annoying.
I don’t want to go to another device as I love the n97 screen and pull out keyboard but what can I do aaaaaggghhh!!!!!
look how many others want this feature: the only station that tells it how it is: political , racist, conspiracy theries, terrorist, alternative views and general chat  after 10pm of course. its all football before that butwhat a listen this station is!!

    back to the point:
here are some other links that will play in core player but not real player, lcg, virtual, flv player......

    Hi andyfoz
As an update to this post, I've just loaded a beta version of the Skyfire web browser (S60 v5 - http://www.skyfire.com/), which plays the video content on the BBC Sport internet pages & the Listen Live media player on the Talksport.net website.  Definitely worth a go!

  • Still no Nokia Internet Radio for N97?!

In order to listen to Internet radio, like I always do with my N96, I have to purchase the JoikuSpot so that my N97 can become a Wi-Fi hotspot.  And then I have to use my old N96 to connect to my N97 via Wi-Fi and listen to Internet radio using the N96.  A temporary solution, I am OK with it.  But this long wait is getting silly.  And there ain't any other alternatives in the OVI Store either.  No, not in firmware version 20.  I hope Nokia can release a timeline or even a statement if and when, if or not Nokia Internet Radio will appear in N97 (and other touchscreen phones).
And no, the version in OVI Store supposedly for the N97 cannot be installed.

    Hei,

I m jus converting my files from WMA and M4A to M3, because Jukebox is supporting just MP3, AAC* and OGG music formats.
But it has got an Internet Radio.

  • Internet radio on N97...

can anyone help me with info about getting internet radio on ma phone. Any apps? Website? Any helpfull unharmful
Solutins please let me know. Thanks.l

    Yet another dissappointment.
There will come a day when we pick up an Illustrated Dictionary to look up the word 'Dissappointing' and the associated picture will be the Nokia Logo, or a picture of the N97.
Internet Radio was on my N96, so when I bought my N97 I assummed it would do everything the N96 did, do it better and do some more. But no !!!
How does that fit in with being a world leader in the forefront of technology?

  • N97 mini: Internet Radio & Digital Compass missing

    hello,
Bought new set. Can not find Internet Radio & Hey where is the digital compass? Can not find it! Please help..
    Regards,
    Go for the best always...

Internet Radio - GONE. Not part of spoftware anymore. Ask Nokia when they'll bring it back, but it's not part of your phone (ie. you won't find it).
Compass is there, but no compass app. Ovi Maps uses it though, so you can turn it on, click on a little circle with arrow, and the map will orient itself to the direction you're looking. I'm still waiting for Google to start using Nokia compass in their maps, so they will work like on iPhone.
OR, go to ovi store and download free Compass Touch...

  • N97 FM Radio Application - Lost

I had to reinstall the firmware of my Nokia N97 and restore the factory settings of the phone. After reinstalling the firmware ( note this is not the newest firmware because it is not yet available in the Philippines ) and restoring the factory settings ( I can't remember which came first ) ... I lost some apps.  One of the apps that I lost is the FM Radio App.
Question?  How can I reinstall the FM Radio App?  I searched the nokia site and didn't find one.  They have the internet radio app - which I don't need.  I also searvhed Ovi Store and didn't find one.  I also searched for it in the internet and could not find one.
I am tempted to reinstall the firmware and to restore the factory settings ... but I'm afraid of what other supposedly - out of the box app that came with the phone will get lost.  By the way --- I submitted this question to the support site and this is what I was told:
    - I lost it because I restored the Factory settings.   I was confused with this answer because I thought part of the features being marketed for N97 is it's capability to play FM radio.  So if it's not part of the factory settings --- why market it?
    - Nokia does not have a copy of the app - and I have to search the internet for a copy of the app.   Again ... this is a confusing answer ... it came with the phone when I bought it ... so a copy of the app must be found somewhere.   So why can't they post it in Ovi store?  Or why can't they e-mail the app to me?
I hope an expert Nokia user out there can help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    thanks you.
i was really upset why this phone does not have a radio.
i really needed it for special purposes.

and its a bit low speed too.
other things are great. ilove it

  • What happened to Nokia Internet Radio?

I have been using the Nokia "FLAGSHIP" N97 for more than a month now.. I still don't see any support for Nokia Internet Radio I assume the Nokia Internet Radio is discontinued at this moment..
Does anyone know if Nokia ever going to have it for V5? or we "MUST" stop calling this N97 a "Flagship"
I do not see anything close to being a flagship on this device.

    I agree.
My N96 has Internet Radio and I listen to it while I am driving and while I am working.  Now I have my N97 and suddenly I can't do that no more.  That is disappointing.
I wonder if someone can just write a widget and sell.  Sure can make a lot of $$.

  • How to use my iPhone 4 to select Internet radio stations on MacBook Pro

Okay, once again I return here to seek guidance and wisdom.  Fellow members here told me about Air Video, a terrific set of programs for iOS and OS X to stream videos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4.  It is awesome!
Now, my other need (?).  I want to run something on my Mac that lets me select Internet radio station streams like TuneIn for ex., but I want to be able to change selections on whatever is on the Mac from the iPhone 4.  What I want to do is use the iPhone 4 as a remote for the app on the Mac which I want to connect to either some external speakers or someday to a real external Dac, amp, and speakers.
I have the TuneIn Pro app on my iPhone 4 already and on the Mac via browser have accessed their website.
Now someone surely is going to mention Airplay or something to stream from the iPhone4.  From the cost of Airplay capable hardware, I just can't afford it yet.  Maybe if I could find Bluetooth speaker or device?
One other thing to throw in for thought.  I have not only iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but also Fidelia and Amarra, and thinking about Decibel or Audirvana.  In other words somewhat hi-def music output quality available on the Mac.  So....I do have a remote app for Fidelia and think there's one for either Decibel or Audirvana, so that brings me back to Internet radio on the MacBook Pro.  If I can find a way to use the iPhone 4 to select an app on the Mac for Internet radio, I can play those plus hi-def music via one of those programs.
I probably didn't say all that right, but I hope you can decipher what I am asking about.
If nothing else, can you recommend inexpensive Bluetooth speakers to play radio from the iPhone4?  I was hoping to buy some AudioEngine powered speakers for the Mac, hence the desire to run all sound/music through that device but using the iPhone4 as control device.

    Hi Starbux48
First off. The benefits of using Amarra, Pure Music, Audirvana or whatever, can only be heard if you have a true audiophile system set-up. Think of systems starting from 5000 U$. Then only if your music files are high resolution. Think ALAC or FLAC, AIFF or Wave.  For all other music playing the itunes set-up suffices. So the better idea for you will be playing the music over your macbook.
Mountain lion offers airplay for intel based macs. You can use this. If you install the free Remote App. on your iPhone, you can use that to control itunes on your Macbook via wifi/Airplay. The remote app offers you the view of itunes on your Macbook and the screen of your Macbook changes with what you do on your iPhone. So you can even control the itunes radiostation from your iPhone.
If you have an older, non-intel macbook, you can install airserver on your macbook. This will set you back 15 dollars or so, but will basically do the same.

  • Internet radio from Apple TV suddenly not working!!! Please help!

I used to be able to put internet radio stations in a playlist and sync to ATV, and they would show up on the ATV and I could select and listen to them! From what I've read on some other forums, after version 2.02 came out, you could even do that and not have your computer on and itunes open, and could still access and listen to the radio stations on ATV! Which is great!
I hadn't tried this in a while and decided to get the 2.02 update and try. Now, when I select the playlist with the radio stations in it (on ATV) I get a message - "contains no songs"!!
Does anybody know what is going on with this feature? It seems to work for some people but not others! Some think that it stopped working for people with itunes 7.6.1 and higher!! (I have 7.6.2 and OSX 10.4.11)
Just when I had a plan on really taking advantage of this feature, it stopped working!
Can anybody help with this topic? Do people from Apple read and answer these posts?
    Thanks,
    SB

Wow! That surprised me! I had already tried something very similar to that, and it didn't work!
What you said works! Thanks so much!
And in addition, playing the internet radio from my ATV (rather than from computer & thru airtunes) seems to work better! Before, (using airtunes), some stations would cut out / skip etc... and it doesn't seem to happen now! And I can now, not even have my computer on!
My understanding is that if I ever turn off the ATV, I'll have to do the procedure that you said again correct?
    Thanks so much again!
It would be nice if Apple could now have the details / info that shows up in itunes when you play a internet radio station (song info etc...) show up on the screen on ATV - right?!!!
(for me, right now - just says: "Proton Radio - unknown album")

  • I Get an Error "To Access Your iTunes Library ..." And Other Things Are Wonky Too ... Can't Reset ... Internet Radio Drops ... But Things Look To Be Set Up Okay

When I use my Apple TV and try to play music from my computer I get an error: "To access your iTunes library on Apple TV, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer using 'myname'"
On my computer n iTunes Preferences / Sharing I have the "Share my library on my local network" checked with "Share entire library" -- no password, no update play counts.  I've turned it off and on again.
The Apple TV settings show we are "talking to" my WIFI -- it has my network, shows a good signal strenght, all sorts of internet addresses and IP stuff I don't understand ...
The "Internet" tab works with some of those things I'd never use -- like I see the current NHL standings.
My TV works and I get an ATV signal and those little chimes / bongs when I hit things in the menu.  And when it works I get audio so the cables and TV are okay.
In the past I had trouble with the settings for my favourite Internet Radio stations (the provider changed their URL but Apple didn't update the presets for a while) but those are now resolved.
I had a crappy old G class router and week signal strenght but I have a new N class Cisco router with a strong signal.
    But other things are wonky:
    * I play interent radio and my station will go fine for about five minutes then stop -- the little wheel spins trying to reconnect.  Sometimes it resets but more often than not it won't.  I just tried again four hours later and the same thing.
    * I've unplugged the ATV and plugged it back in but no noticable improvement
    * I tried to do the factory reset from the ATV menu.  It says it will download the latest bla bla bla and after a few minutes tells me "Apple TV can't download latest update right now, try again later" -- I've tried three times today always with the same results.
    * I unhooked it from the power and HDMI and plugged it into a Micro USB cable and plugged that into my Mac -- it doesn't show up in the devices in iTunes.
    * I have a bunch of photos in a folder that I use for my ATV Screen Saver.  A few weeks ago I added two photos to that folder -- they don't show up in the ATV screen show but the others still do.
    * When I started today I checked my iTunes and the airplay icon didn't show in the bottom right (beside the genious icon and the little thing to show or hide the sidebar).  Now I noticed the Airplay icon is there.  When I try to switch from playing through my computer speaakers to my Apple TV I get an error "An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the Airplay device "Apple TV"" -- the ATV shows that Airplay is on.
    * I see from the ATV settings that I'm running ATV Software 4.4.3 (3323) and when I do a "Update Software" on the ATV it tells me that my software is current.
    * My iTunes is 10.5.2 (11) and my OS is 10.6.8 -- both are up to date.
    Yikes and double yikes!
    Any ideas?

    Hey Chunk,
I love the idea of the ATV more than I have loved the little black box but ... famous last words ... my ATV seems to be working better these days.
A big challenge for me was too many variables at play -- new router, new ATV OS / firmware / whatever, changing internet radio presets, a less than perfect physical set up ... and a short attention span from yours truly.
Here's what I did.  Somwhere in these changes things got "fixed."
    * I unhooked the ATV and did a factory restore by hard wiring the ATV to my computer with a micro USB cable (no external power needed) working through iTunes (I run iTunes 10.5.2 on an iMac with OS X 10.6.8).
    * after the reset I now have ATV (is that an operating system or a firmware?) 4.4.4
    * then I plugged it back into my home theatre and it didn't work :-) but in slightly different ways.  The settings showed that I was connected to my home network but I couln't get connected using my Apple ID and no internet radio.  (it is often counterintuitive -- like why when I want my ATV to talk to my iMac over my local network am I logging in to the iTnes Store with my Apple ID? but there you go.)
    * I booked with the genius bar at the Apple Store and put my ATV in my pocket.  They pulled out a TV, HDMI cable, ATV power source and even the remote -- all I provided was my little black ATV.  We hooked the ATV to their TV and from the Apple Store (using thier WIFI) I logged in using my Apple ID and the thing worked fine.
    * so now I knew that my ATV was up to date and it worked in the Apple Store using their network so it looked like the issue was my network.
    * rebooted my router and noticed that when I had upgraded to the new super dooper Cisco n router we had plugged my iMac direct to the router via ethernet cable.  I unhooked the ethernet and now just run my computer WIFI using AirPort.
    And ...
It works.  I use my ATV exclusivly for music -- my iTunes and internet radio and AirPlay -- and now both work fine.  The ATV does pick up photos from my iPhoto for the screen saver and all that other stuff -- netflix, youtube, the hockey scores, ... all seem to be there.  And my son played a video off his iPod Touch using AirPlay.
I know my approach is more scattered than a proper scientific try but ...
From my experience ... reset the ATV and get it up to date; see if it will work on someone else's network; check your network set up.
    Good luck!

  • How to use a Mac for broadcasting an internet radio station?

    Hi
Have been toying with the idea of starting my own internet radio station. I have a new Macbook Pro and one Macbook from 4 years ago (updated to Yosemite though), and I have been wondering if Apple itself loads any capabilities into their hardware for starting off a slick and professional sounding radio broadcast.
If one uses cloud tech, could the station be run with minimal requirements of storage etc at my end? Could iOS be a possibility if combined with other content over cloud?
    Thanks for any tips.

    Yes.
Although you will likely have much simpler and more satisfying results by having at least one of your Macs repaired, depending on which Macs you have and which Mac OS you use with them, there are at least the following possibilities:
      • Screen sharing overview
      • Allow access using Remote Desktop
      • Use another Mac as a display (Target Display Mod

Having searched older posts it appers I am not the only one looking for Internet radio on iOS devices; the answer is this Mac OS X iTunes feature is not in the iOS 7 Radio app or elsewhere on iOS7.  People suggested downloading TuneIn Radio (free with over 50,000 stations).
