N97 is now a paperweight

Hi guys, wondering if anyone can help. Just done the firmware update on my N97 using NSU and it has bricked my lovely new phone.
Anyone got any ideas of how to fix it without sending it back to Vodafone or Nokia?
Upgrade process seemed to go ok, with no errors. But when you switch on the phone all you get is a white screen which then disappears after a few seconds.

Didn't mean any offense, I was just reading your message and you said you turned on your phone after the update so figured it had to be off.
Something probably went wrong during the update, it does happen unfortunately and there are many reasons why it could happen.
I suggest dropping by a service centre, they can probably help you.

My External Drive...with ALL myTunes Library, is now a paperweight!

I HAD a Seagate External hard drive that I'd partitioned to hold my iTunes library. It is now totally dysfunctional, and according to the Seagate technicians, valuable only as a paperweight. I still have all my music on my iPod, but what do I do to "restore" the library? Sure appreciate the assistance, and anything you can do to help ease the frustration and anger would DEFINITELY be appreciated!

Hard reseted the N97 mini NOW WHAT????

I got the white screen and blue Nokia label on my recently bought N97 mini. The advice was to hard reset it. O.K I did it now it randomly works.
My questions:
Is this a hardware issue? If not how can it be solved?
The phone came with various applications from factory, now how can I restore them, not the ones I installed but the ones the phone had before the hard resetS. where are they?

Most should be available at Ovi Store or elsewhere on the web, things like games and video samples you may not be able to get back. I would suggest you install any apps you can on E not C.Also before setting everything up I would update/re-install the latest software with Nokia Software Updater.
As for 'randomly working' what do you mean ? And how did you reset the phone ?
Whenever I reset my phone (which, unfortunately is quite often with the N97) I first back up my contacts, calendar and notes, NOTHING ELSE, backing up settings etc can result in re-installing a 'problem'. I then dial *#7370# followed by 12345. After the phone re-boots I set up the phone settings, motion sensors, auto lock, message storage point (E not C) ringtones etc. Then I re-install my contacts and calendar, and then any applications or themes I want (everything possible on E) and the phone will be like 'new'

N97 Charging -- Now Won't boot up. [All in a Nig...

Hey guys. Sorry to bring up an old thread. I was charging my phone last night as I went to bed. Woke up in the middle of the night as we do, looked at my phone (to see the time) and I saw that the phone was stuck on the Nokia flash screen (white screen with NOKIA logo). It would not turn on. I kept taking out the battery, putting it back in... Nothing!
So just now I did my 10000th hard reset and now phone works.
Guys, my question is why would the phone reboot itself (apart from RAM issues) and then not turn on again?
I am sick and tired of this phone. It requires 24/7 care like a newborn baby to make sure it works and does not reboot itself or that an application can run (E.g. close others apps to conserve RAM). This isn't kool anymore. It's somewhat boring!

Any ideas?

3GS now a paperweight?

My stupid macbook pro won't recognize the pictures on my 3GS now that I have my iPhone 4. Do I really have to plug my 3GS into a PC to get the pictures off? I hate being a fanboy that gives Apple a pass on all these irritating little things, but I just can't help it.

Ok, you definitely got me there. The 3GS certainly is not useless. But, I would still like to be able to transfer photos off of it to my mac. Windows recognizes the photos and I was able to save them to disk on my work PC. It just strikes me as odd that I can't set the 3GS up as a separate device just like one of my ipods and still use it with my mac. Why doesn't iphoto recognize the pictures on the 3GS anymore? It populates the frame with a bunch of empty thumbnails. It's weird.

Please help! Yosemite Install gone wrong. Macbook now = Nice paperweight

So late last week my macbook late 2011 started to play up and run slow, it had been under a lot of stress from video editing and was due a format / re-install / upgrade from mavericks to Yosemite.
I decided to do this in one simple move using instructions found online (and instructions I've used before) I backed up my data, downloaded the new OS and created a boot using bootdiskx and then formatted the HDD using the recovery partition.
Now I must of messed up somewhere, when starting the install via the USB bootdisk the progress bar pops up and then reaches around 20% and then the screen goes all grey.
I've left the machine over night to run and had no luck.
Tried 2 memory cards / usbs
re created the bootdisk
and also downloaded the OS again
If I let the device run straight from boot up I'm greeted by the apple logo and soon after blue/black lines, safemode doesn't work as there's no OS, and recovery partition is incredibly unreliable and only boots on random occurrences.
I've tried every silly keycombo I can find and nothing works!
Please help!!!!!

It will help us diagnose your problem to know the exact model, size, year built, RAM installed and OS you're running.
Also if it's a 15 or 17" there's a recall on those models:

N97 keyboard now not working.

Today while trying to type a message my keyboard keys stopped working.
I turned the phone off and on again but no avail
Keys qwertyu (and delete) no longer work.
any ideas on what has caused his as the phone hasnt got wet

N97 now so slow and laggy & cant access photo albu...

All of a sudden my N97 is now laggy beyond belief and I cant use it hardly, its just so slow and is freezing and doing all sorts now. Ive had it 3 months with no worries. Plus I cant seem to access the photo album, I press captured images and it does nothing, summats not right big style.
Im on the old version of the fimware that the phone came from Vodafone with, how can I update the firmware via my pc as I beleive there is a new version then what I have which is 10. summat. Thing is when I try update on the phone it says no updates found but there has been one, so how else can I update the firmwar to see if that helps, or anyone any other ideas thanks, I am in the UK

There are some things you can do to manage the C memory better/phone memory.
1. Clear your browser cache often
2. set different message allocation ( if you have not done so already)
messaging- options- settings- other ( set it to 999, and e memory)
3. Go to OVI store (app on your phone) and change that memory allocation for most apps.
opitons- account- settings- installation preferences
4. Remove Facebook, Accu Weather, Bloomberg, apps from the C drivve and reinstall them via OVI store and place them in the E memory/mass memory
NOTE: If you are using Nokia Messaging application, it can only store data on the C drive so keep that in mind
NOTE: RAM is another issue with N97. Don't keep too many apps running at the same time as it will run out of RAM and either close all applications on the spot or crash the phone and result in restart.
BETTER RAM management : Here are some things to consider
also consider investing in the best taskman 1.99$ in the ovi store or y browser (free) to manage your ram and all the apps that are runnig on the phone that you might want to close if you are not using them.

now y browser is free, it has a great amount of stuff you can do with it, but it is not as easy to use as best taskman and it does not look so pretty- that is if you care about looks over function.

N97 mini Arabic language

Hi Nokia, I've installed new software 30.0.004 for my nokia n97 mini .Now I have no Arabic language on my phone ...I can't write in Arabic and I can't use my mobile in Arabic ... Please help me ...How can I install Arabic language in my mobile ????

It seems your phone was not for sale in your region, but the retailer added the Language pack later on. Now, the ONLY solution is to visit Nokia Care and get the language pack re-installed, as you can't do it on your own.
Be warned that any Firmware Update / Re-install in the future will put you in the SAME situation again where the Language pack will need to be re-installed thru' Nokia Care...

Missing 3G and 3,5G on N97

I just installed the new firmware v12 on my Nokia N97 and now I'm missing the option to connect to 3G and 3,5 G.
The phone is still in Dual mode. But when startin an app the option to connect with 3G or 3,5G doesn't appear.
Does anybody have to problem and knows how to fix this.

Check your firmware version.
I have no issue with the Bluetooth connection with my Notebook.
HOWEVER - I have not managed to get my iTech Clip Radio to work with my N97 till now (even with the new Firmware v 11.0.021).

Hi i formated my n97 and now my guitar, brain, and spore game are gone how can i get them back? without buying them because they're free it comes with n97.....anyone know please reply

hmmm i would contact nokia care and ask them as i don't think that they will be avaliable anywhere else. the games you mention are installed on memory after firmware is installed, it will get erased every time you format your device unless there is a way to transfer it to a memory card .

N97 Default Browser- Youtube Problems

I have a N97 mini- now, I have the youtube app, but I prefer the default browser for watching youtube videos, so I use that, atleast until this morning when the browser simply stopped loading youtube pages. When I try to go to youtube's main page or any other bookmarked youtube video, the screen goes blank for a while, then tells me that the connection timed out. It loads other sites just fine, and youtube worked perfectly till today. Whats wrong with it, and is there any way I can fix it?

Try using wifi, to see if it's signal strength, also you could install Skyfire, not the best browser in the world, but supports Flash 1

Can I sync a N97 with a Sony Ericsson W995??

Hello!
I have a work colleague who has a W995 that I would like to synchronize with. I am considering buying a N97 and now wonder if I can sync calendar and contacts with W995 using a N97?

it is theoretically possible that he "phone switch" application in the N97 could drag the info over from the SE, but there is no guarantee tha this would work. Sometimes this method doesn't even like different Nokia OS versions, let alone a different marque.
