N97 Laggy, Any Vodafone Software Updates Fox This?
My N97 is very laggy now, is there any software updates released from Vodafone yet that may fix this?
I know there is an official update from Nokia themselves but as I own a Vodafone N97 I cant update using that can I?
Vodafone UK are on the same version as generic nokia's at the moment (v11) so there is no newer firmware.
Slowness can be caused by many factors such as:
Operator branding
Corrupted files in the mass memory
Slow memory cards, or corrupted files/cards
Third party apps
Certain themes
Too many apps running in the background.
If you believe the issue to be caused by voda branding you will need to contact them, or post on their forum.
As a contrast my unbranded N97 is still running very fast and very smooth.

My first generation AppleTV will not sync with iTunes anymore. I get an error message that says: "The Apple TV is not responding Check that any firewall software running on this comptuter has been set to allow communication on port 3689" firewall is turned off.. Any ideas?

I will try with ethernet but will be a pain in the butt if i can not fix it with wifi for long term fix
I may end up trying to do a named IP address vs DHCP for this appleTV (not sure if i can do both and do not want to remove DHCP as i have a bunch of sensors and other devices that I prefer to dynamically add to the network via DHCP vs. assign each one
Will keep working on other fix options (factory reset, etc.)

By entering App store I get a message that a software update, but this software I have never installed on my computer if I want to upgrade what message he sends me a says this with a different account to mine, will not let me update. I got a software update message this morning and clicked install and restart. Now my e-mail icon has disappeared from the dashboard. How do I get it back?
Don't recall the exact wording. But it is the same in appearance as others. Anyway, problem solved using RogerWilmut1 reply to someone else. I opened Applications and got the icon back. Thanks for responding.

How to fix this. Happens even when firewall is disabled. (Apple TV 1st generation)
Apple TV: "Check that any firewall software running on this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689" alert in WindowsAfter a few hours the same issue started again. (Port 3689 error) I checked my router settings and it shows ATV asd connected to my netrwork. ATV also shows in iTunes devices. It asll works till I try to sync. Then the error pops up
I tired restoring ATV to factory settings. Even backed iTunes up to version 8 and every combonation therein. I started an older Gateway running Vista 64bit and it syncs fine with ATV although it's slow and I have to transfer movies from my Win 7 to tyhe Vista machiner.
I cannot find any reason for this issue. Can anybody solve this before it dribves me crazy? (Crazier) -

nokia dont give dates for releasing firmware you will just have to keep checking
and remember updates depend on region/product code and network,ie network has to approve the update

I have Mac OS X 10.4.11 and use Firefox. I keep getting a message that QuickTime 7.6.6 plug in is out of date. I have done the software update and it shows no current updates available. Certain videos won't play and it says that this may make my computer vulnerable. Any suggestions?

Are you using the lastest version of Firefox for os 10.4.11? If you are, start using TenFourFox. Quicktime works just fine with that browser. -

Can anyone out there help, after a recent Apple software update my Epson Stylus Photo RX640 will no longer print, every other aspect of the printer works fine including the scanner but it just will not print, I sent an email to apple but all i got was an automated reply directing me to their support page, the email i sent is below this explains in full what the problem is & what i have done to try & fix this problem.

I'm pulling my hair out after a recent software update from apple, since this update my Epson Stylus Photo RX640 will not print, every other function of the printer including the scanner works fine,
Please see attached file of the error message coming up in the print queue.
I have spent days trying to fix this, i have been onto Epsons website & followed their resolution for this error message to no avail, after contacting them again with the results i got an email back saying : In response to your email, the RX640 will use an inbox or gutenprint driver on Mac OS X 10.6.8, it is not compatible with an Epson driver.
I have also tried re-installing drivers from original Discs for the printer but it still will not print, obviously this error has been caused by Apple's latest software update, when are Apple going to fix this problem? i need my printer working ASAP.

BrianIt is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.

Is there any upcoming software updates for the version 10.5.8? Also how do I backup my mac?
I really want to update my mac to the new version of Snow Leopard or Lion but to my understanding I must buy the disks to update it. However I feel like buying a macbook pro to my replace my mid-2009 white macbook, once I graduate so I could use it for college (which is 2 years from now and I'm saving up for it).
Also how do I backup my mac (hardrive)? I'm quite lost. I'm told that I must use Time Machine, but how? Do I use a CD to back up? Some external drive and if yes where could I buy one?
P.S. I'm a newbie with tech stuff. I'm no genius with it so I suggest to take it slow with me. PLUS there's no Apple Store here to help me out.

There will be no updates for 10.5. it's been out of production for 3 years. You can order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM and 5gb of free space on your hard drive. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
You can upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.5 should run under10.6. To upgrade your iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps from iLife '11 you can get them from the App Store after you've upgraded to 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie or Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote or Numbers from iWork '09 for $20 each.

Once you are at 10.6.8 you can buy Lion for $29 from the App Store. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications. -

iOS updates require a persistent Internet connection, and the time it takes to download the update will vary according to the size of the update and your Internet speed. Not getting any iOS software updates notification
my friends' iPhone 5 notify them whenever there is a software update on the lock screen but mine does not. I only know there is an update if i go to setting>general>software update manually or from friends. HELP! (for iOS 6.1.2)

unfortunately Apple is not particularly communicative as to when they stop supporting a particular version of OS X. It seems as though support for Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) has ended, but without word from on high in Cupertino, one can’t be absolutely sure. If you’re concerned about the lack of security updates, then you should upgrade to a newer version of OS X, either Lion (Mac OS X 10.7, $20), Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8, $20), or Mavericks (OS X 10.9, gratis), through the Mac App Store. -
N97 system error after software update
hello there...
I've recently updated my N97 software to 21.0.045 (the last one)... and right after the update is finished, it gave me "system error" on installing... and now I can't get access to the clock, the calender and others... it even stops responding for a while each time I open sittings... and there is no theme effects when the screen flips to landscape even if it is on... please people, I really need help in that, the clock, alarms and the calender are soooo important for me !!!
