N97 Mail for Exchange problem

So, after my previous MfE disaster (it deleted all the contacts from my Exchange server, subsequently I was unable to get into MfE settings to change anything) I decided to reset the phone and start from scratch. I reset it using the code *#7370# which I found on this forum. It seemd to work, the phone behaved exactly as it did from the box. I got it started and downloaded the Messaging app. At the end of this process it gave me an error message "installation failed" but immediately then went into mailbox setup, showed another "preparing for installation" message and then went through the steps for setup.
The problem is that when I get to selecting "Mail for Exchange" as the type of mail I want to set up I get a message that there are too many accounts of this type already on the device (obviously there are none) and won't proceed.
I have repeated the whole thing twice from hard-resetting the phone onwards, and still get the same problem. I have looked in the file manager for any thing which look like old config files but can find none.
Any suggestions?

Thanks jg72 - that's certainly interesting.  It does kinda make sense with you saying that, to a degree - but still a little strange?!  I've managed to fix it myself last night before I read your post (so I think?!) by simply downloading the MfE .sis for it at:  http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/mail_for_exchange_downloads.php
The N97 isn't listed, and N96 install as mentioned earlier in this post throw an error on my phone saying it's not compatible - so I downloaded the .sis for the Nokia 5800 (ExpressMusic) - since it's the only other phone I know with the S60 5th Edition OS on it.  I seem to now get further, and am able to configure the settings for push email!!!  It was the "Nokia Email" app (different to MfE) that was given issues, and my "Mail For Exchange" folder was empty?  I don't know if this was right with my handset being brand new out-of-the-box, but after installing the MfE .sis - I can now configure the server settings.
Now I need to speak to my administrator about what the settings should be !!!
Good luck everyone else having issues - hope this all helps you!

  • N8 Mail for Exchange problem continues

    I have PR1.2 and software version 014.002 on my UK O2 N8.
I was promised the recent firmware upgrade would resolve my on going Hotmail/Mail for Exchange problems. After an indeterminate time MfE on the N8 stops replicating mail and calendar with my hotmail account.
I still have my old 5800 set up and this never fails to replicate with hotmail so I know it's not a Microsoft or my configuration problem. As soon as I delete the settings on the N8 and recreate them it works fine for a while.
I use my hotmail/windows live for arranging appointments via the calendar so this issue is really naffing me off. Does anyone know of a resolution to this issue?
    In the logs it reports
    03/05/2011 16:47:35 PING Command Requested
03/05/2011 16:47:39 Error occurred during Ping.
    03/05/2011 16:47:39 Exception during Ping.
when the failures start so I guess for some reason it's unable to ping the hotmail server for some reason, this occurs if it's over any wifi or the phone network, but works fine initially

I have this problem too. After a period of working fine MfE just stops working on my N8. Deleting the account and setting it up again used to work but now even this doesn;t seem to work and I cannot synch with my work exchange server.
    Did you find a fix?

  • N97-Mail for Exchange - MfE - Windows Live Mail - ...

I would mostly appreciate if somebody could provide me some help and tips on the above mentionned subjects.
I've got a N97-1, I installed MfE and the latest update 3.00 (79) and installed all the upgrades from Nokia (on Nokia website)
I'm working with Windows Live Mail for my mails (with several mail adresses, but the one synchronized is the hotmail (.fr) one) as well on my computer (in case I upgraded too my version of WLM) and via internet.
I'm using my N97 for business purposes and really need to be able to work with mails, calendar and contacts
I'm facing the following problems :
    - the synchronization of contacts failed (I tried at least 30 times, including by erasing all my contacts on the phone) ==> the first sync lasts a few minutes and randomly 3 to 5 contacts are synchronized on the phone and then stops and the following syncs failed with the message Error System, try later. The contacts created on the phone are properly duplicated in WLM, but the ones created in WLM are not synchronized and do not appera on the phone (I saw 2 or 3 questions on that subject but without any answers)
==> I removed the contacts from the sync but it was only to have the opportunity to get my mail, please let me know what I have to do to get my contacts on my phone
    - as I know the tasks sync was not functionning (it is ok for me I can manage with memo events), I only requested calendar and e-mail sync but the synchronization is frequently (and apparently randomly?) failing with the message Error System, try later : it happens as well when I'm connected via my office internet provider as when I'm connected via EDGE or 3G+. The only solution to have the synchronization functionning is to make a "full resync" and in the worst cases (the "re sync" synchronizes but the following sync is again in error), I have to remove the battery of the phone.
==>since nothing informs of the error,  I'm steadily checking the Mfe entries to be sure I received all my mails!!! quite time consuming!!!
==> of course the resync is a nightmare because I have to check all the appointments I created directly on the phone, write them on a paper, resync and then recreate the appointments directly in WLM
==> when I resync, only 1 sent message is placed in the Sent file (le most recent)
NOTA : I removed the option "email notification" to have my email sync functionning (no need for me of this option, it is only information)
==> please let me know what I have to do to have my sync working properly
Additional information concerning the Syncparameters (sorry the translation from french to english may be inappropriate...!!)

Just another point : I checked the Mfe logs for error system messages : Exception during ping seems to be THE typical message
I went through various blogs and discussions (in France, UK, US,...), I checked all the available upgrades (and browse all the files describing the benefits of the releases) and installed everything. I tried many many things to have my sync working properly and my contacts sync on my phone : but really I cannot find solutions. HEEEELP !
Thanks in advance for your response

Thank you for yor very quick answer and your tips. Unfortunately it won't solve my problems :
    - emoze is excellent but the free version is only used for push mail (not calendar and contacts)
    - profimail by lonelycat as well (and is not free)
    Thank you anyway

  • Mail for exchange problem / N97mini.

Now three months I encounter difficulties with integrated email client of my N97 mini. I create and use only mail for exchange profile, no IMAP no POP3, for reading, writing messages and synchronizing contacts, calendar to-do list with webmail server of my company.
    Exact problem:
     - stop regular synchronizing inbox folder when synch is done once. It is necessary phone to be restarted and then inbox can be updated.
     - stop regular synchronizing subfolders unless phone is restarted and then can be updated once until next restart
     - stop regular synchronizing sent folder, contacts, calendar, to-do list. Phone restart hot helps, it has to be removed mailbox and to be created it again then during initial synch everything going well.
There is no matter if the synchronizing is set to “always on”, “manual” or some interval time.
If phone soft is reinstalled or hard reset is performed then after creating a mailbox the problem is going to be resolved for first 10-15 minutes or sometime up to couple of hours and after that appears again.
In our company we use Nokia E52, N97 mini, E71, E72 but only people with N97 mini faced this problem. (People with E71 use installed Mail for Exchange 3.0, people with E52 and E72 used build-in mail client to create mail for exchange profile like us people with N97 mini)
As I wrote this problem appeared three months ago without any obvious reason. No phone update, no company mail server update.
I will appreciate any suggestion and thank you in advance.

Just for clarification soft is v.30.0.004

  • N97 - Mail for Exchange self signed certificate

I would like to use my N97 for sychronizing my nokia with my office e-mails (MfE 2003). Sync keeps on failing. I assume that my n97 does not accept the self-signed certificate we are using (unlike the iPhone and any other HTC or Windows mobile based device). I tried to install the certificate on my nokia - however all versions offered for conversion by my internet explorer are not recognized as a certificate by the n97 (either unkown format or just displayed as text).
Can anyone help? (I am afraid I have to deal with our self-signed certificate - so there is no chance to approach the problem from that end)
    Many thanks!

I am also having the exact same problem.  My company uses Exchange Server 2003, but I cannot get the Nokia N97 to sync using Mail for Exchange.  I too am guessing that it might be related to the fact that we are using a self signed certificate.
When the sync failed, I tried to browse to our web exchange access on the N97 web browser, but that wouldn't work either (I have successfully been able to do this on a Sony Ericsson C905 and a BlackBerry Pearl, but the Nokie N97 says it is unable to perform the operation).
Can anyone confirm if the issue is in fact the self signed certificate, or make any other suggestions?  I do not want to push my company down the path of getting the certificate signed if it's not going to solve the problem.
    Thanks!

  • Is the N97 Mail for Exchange or MfE 'provisionable...

Background info:  I used to carry two phones, the N95 and the E51.  Before MfE 2.0 came out, MfE was not installable on the N95 (or any N series phones).  So I bought the E51 so that I can use MfE to have my corporate mail pushed to me.  Today, I'm the proud owner of the N97, with MfE 2.9.176 installed.  No more carrying 2 phones, and everything is synchronizing just fine.
Last week, my company announced a new policy regarding mobile devices.  Soon, they will enforce new security policies as available in Exchange 2003 SP2.   This really got me worried, because I spent quite a lot of money in investing in the N97!
We all know that Nokia states that only the E series devices fully support all security policies of Exchange servers.  (Nokia calls this 'provisionable' versus 'non-provisionable' devices.)  But here's the kicker.  In the Mail for Exchange Guide for Administrators (http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/MfE_admin_guide_140709.pdf), in chapter 2, section 2, part 1 titled "Are your devices 'provisionable'?", it states the following:
    Eseries devices are provisionable
Nseries devices previous to S60 3.0 Feature Pack 2 (FP2) are not provisionable
Nseries devices after S60 3.0 FP2 may be provisionable
Supported devices not designated Eseries or Nseries may or may not be provisionable.
Well, that is kind of some good news.  But it left out key information regarding my N97, specifically S60 5.0.  Does anyone know if the N97 can be categorized together with those Nseries devices "after 3.0 FP2"?  Or can anyone identify specifically what security policies/features are provisionable in the N97 device?  This is important because I need to make the case with the IT management to put me in the exception list, if at all possible.  But I don't want to stir up anything until I know exactly what can or cannot be done with the N97.  This will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Not only is Nokia's myriad of different web sites each requiring its own login credentials, they also have a myriad of places to go get software.  I have always thought that http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com will have all the latest enterprise software coming from Nokia, but no, that is not the case.  It turns out that http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/mail-for-exchange is the place to get the latest version.  Just select your device, and it'll give you the download link for the latest.
Just so you know, even http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com doesn't have N97 listed as a device yet.
I really hope Nokia takes this consistency issue seriously just like how they're working on the consolidation of logins...

  • N97 Mail for exchange - System Error

Im setting up my profile on Mail for exchange, entered same deatails that is on my n96, I then
start to sync and it reads..,
    Connecting...
    Connected.
then a nice useful message that says system error.
Ive switched phone of, back on still the same issue
    any ideas?

I have had this issue with my N95. The problem is the architecture of N series phones. My email works seemlessly on an E65, an E63 and other WinMo phones but not on N95 using MfE. This problem occurs usually when the exchange server tries to push security settings like automatic lock. Automatic Lock, is supported by both E and N series, however N series does not take the enforced security from the Exchange server which is what causes the problem. If you try some public exchange server viz. www.mail2web.com, it works fine with N series phones but not managed exchange like in large organizations.

  • E72 Mail for Exchange problem

On reaction of the thread of qazcorp (E72 mail for exchange) here a new request for myself...
As in that thread I've found two users who have the same problem.
Lost tekst when sending or forwarding email from the E72 by use of Mail for Exchange.
    So far I've tried...
    - Firmware update (no success)
    - New install of latest Firmware without backup (no success)
    - Tested same installation on a E71 (works fine)
Other E72 or E71 users aren't having these problems.
So far I'm guessing it's a software error, but the new installation without using a backup is contradicting that conclusion.
    Requested information so far...
    - They are both running an E72
    - Exchange 2003 SP2
We configure the telephones to synchronise only the last two weeks. This results in: 100~200 mails on the phone.
    We synch using Vodafone-GPRS data-connection.
Additional requested information will follow... (E72 Productcode, E72 Firmwareversion & Mail for Exchange version)

I have had exactly the same problem with all previous versions of firmware, connecting to Exchange 2003, SP2
    I am currently running:
    -Product code: 0595585
    -Firmware: 054.005
    -Custom version: 054.005.275.04
    -Mail for Exchange version: 2.2.0
I have tried all the same solutions as DCBertisen (software update, new install without backup).
I had tested the same installation with roadsync on symbian, roadsync on android, native exchange on android and windows mobile, and all of these work fine.
I have now moved to Exchange 2010, and it appears (touch wood) that I no longer am having these problems. However, I have only been using Exchange 2010 for 3 weeks, so I fear they may happen again.

  • E63 Mail for Exchange problem

I've tried to load Mail for Exchange from Ovi on my E63, but get the message 'installation failed' each time I try. I've searched on here and notice that others seem to have the same problem. Anyone able to help?
    Thanks

did you go back to factory settings, install MFE 3.0 en start from scratch?? that usually wil solve the problem.
think about making a back up first.
If you reinstall but the bug is still in the phone, the problem remains. thats why it is best to make a clean phone and go from there

  • Major Mail for Exchange problem

    Hi
I have installed Mail for Exchange (v2.09) on my Nokia N96, which has the latest software update (20.050).
My problem relates to the initial synchronisation process. Having inputed all of the relevant information (server/username/password/domain name etc), the current status shows that MfE is connected, and remains like this for anything up to 30 seconds, before changing to 'Idle'
A check on the Last sync log then reveals the message 'Connection error. Try again later' and a further check in the Mail for Exchange mailbox (in Messaging) subsequently reveals that no e-mail messages have been downloaded.
I have checked with the IT Department at the company I work for and they have assured me that they have 'Direct Push over HTTP' enabled and I have also installed the relevant SSL certificate and checked the trust settings are correct.
The company uses Outlook Web Access and have active sync working. I have even tried connecting a few different ways, including contract WAP and my home WLAN network as well as my regular contract internet.
    Any ideas please??

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I am already using the new version of Mail for Exchange that supposedly includes a fix (v2.09). I have also tried syncing my folders individually but to no avail. I've double checked the settings with my IT department and they all seem to be correct, but I am still receiving the 'Correction error. Try again later' message after attempting to sync.

  • Activesync / mail for exchange problem

    Hi,
I have Exchange 2003 and activesync running for mobile devices. I have Nokia e70 which has mail for exchange in it. Phones memory went full and it gave error "
Disk Full status changed to:0". It stopped to connect activesync and I even reinstalled mail for exchange. Phone won't connect to exchange server. I looked logs on the server. It only has that message on admin-log1.txt.
    Any ideas?

  • New E72 Mail for exchange problem--end of emails c...

    Hello,
As I can't seem to find anyone who is having this problem, I thought I'd start a new thread.
We are running 5 E72s (T-Mobile UK customised firmware version 031.023), using Mail for Exchange with Exchange 2003 sp2. Since updating to 031.023 from 021.024 (022.007 wasn't realised for T-Mobile UK product code), Mail for Exchange has basically worked okay (finally!!), but we've noticed that it sometimes cuts off the ends of emails, which has a major negative business impact. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas on how to solve it?
In the meantime, we've switched to running Roadsync, which is less elegant (and much slower) than Mail for Exchange, but has the advantage of basically working.
    Many thanks,
    Paul

  • E71 Mail for Exchange problem

I've set up a few of these adn had no problems but yesterday I set up 3 off E71-b exactly the same as always and all now have the same problem:  when powering on you get the message "allow to send and receive......" answering "yes" then gives "testing network" and then then the Email setup wizard starts again. If you then cancel the Wizard the phone synchs properly with Head Office's Exchange Server.   It means the users have to exit teh wizard at evry start-up.    Any help would be much appreciated.

Guys -- I had the same problem but I think I figured it out. Menu>MfE>Mail for Exchange>Content synced> Synchronize Calendar (choose yes, ditto Contacts and Tasks)>then follow the stupid menu logic that doesn’t actually save any changes unless you save each individual change or something and finally choose “in case of conflict server always wins”> and double check to make sure it is always looking for changes. I tested it with new calendar and contact entries on my corp. mail account and they showed up almost immediately on the e71.
     Cripes. Good luck.

  • N8 Mail for Exchange – problems with date separato...

key points are highlighted by bold text
    Hi,
I'm using my Nokia N8-00 for one month now and everything works fine except three issues I discovered using Mail for Exchange. Two weeks ago I contacted our domain/mail hoster to set up a MS Exchange account for me.
Setting up the account on my N8-00 worked as expected, but after a detailed look I found some problems concerning the date separator (normally set in the settings of the clock-application) and the synchronizing of anniversaries.
To be sure the sources of the problems are not produced by the server I set up the Mail for Exchange (newest available version of Mail for Exchange via Ovi-Store – 3.00(50)) account on my N82. Comparisons to my N82 are mentioned below.
My first problem with Mail for Exchange on my N8 is that the date separator is switched from . (point) to – (minus) automatically. I'm pretty sure this issue depends on the N8’s Mail for Exchange, cause it only happens in the peak-time (off-peak is set to sync manually). The strange thing is that I cannot trace back this occurrence – it just happens randomly in the peak-period.
On my N82 this problem doesn’t occur. Additionally the support employee at my mail hoster told me he is using an E-Series (Mail for Exchange 2.07) device without having this issue.
Is there a workaround or a fix coming for this issue? Is there anybody else having this issue?
Now coming to the second issue I sustain using Mail for Exchange on the N8-00. Some of my contacts that are synced to my device get the wrong date of birth displayed in the device. Upon contacts where this problem occurs the date of birth is displayed one day earlier than set in Outlook.
I found out that this issue only happens to contacts born prior to 198* (* between 1 to 4 – sorry not sure about the exact date). One example is the date 02.10.1978, which is displayed as 01.10.1978 in my phone. Even if I set up a new test-contact with this date of birth it is displayed wrong in my phone!
But it doesn’t happen to all birthdates prior to 198*. And also on this issue I’m not sure where it’s coming from.
This problem doesn’t happen on my N82 and the E-Series device mentioned above.
Last but not least the third issue which in a way is similar to the one above but doesn’t happen in the contacts application. Birthdays which are automatically entered as all-day-series in the calendar by Outlook aren’t synced to the device as birthday events (as Ovi-Suite does). Sometimes they aren’t even all-day events – they have a starting time at midnight and an end time at midnight the next day.
If I change those events to real all-day-birthday-events in the calendar app of my N8-00 they are synced back to my Outlook one day prior to their real date – sounds familiar, huh?
To be sure these issues are not produced by me in any curious way I made sure that every birthday-event in Outlook is an automatically entered event. Additionally I checked the time zones and the date-separator of Exchange via Outlook Web Access and on my phone – they are both set to GMT +1 and the date is set to dd.mm.yyyy.
What makes me angry is that those issues don’t happen to my older device.
Please help me to fix these problems!
    Greetings
    Lars

I am having ongoing problems with Hotmail and my N8's Mail for Exchange. I have all the latest firmware updates from Nokia, that as I understand it was supposed to fix the problem, it hasn't. I've even done a hard reset on the phone, which lost a ton of stuff that my service provider had installed
Hotmail via MfE works for a couple of days then stops connecting and refuses to update mail or calendar entries, I then delete the account and recreate it and it all works again for a couple of days. I know this isn't a problem with Hotmail as my Nokia 5800 works perfectly with its MfE.
This is spoiling what is otherwise a good phone as it's a main feature for me as I use the calendar in Hotmail to organise my meetings etc.

  • Mail for exchange problem

I am s system manager at a company and i just tried to connect my nokia n8 to our exchange 2003 server i made sure all settings are good but i get this message below
"your account hasnt got permission to sync with the settings please contact the sys admin"
What could be the problem ?
and how can i resolve this?

    Hello All,
One of the first things we should be looking at with this N8 MfE issue is the Admin log files which are located under c:\mailforexchange.  These logs should help us identify the issues.
Other questions we need to know did you have it all working with other Nokia devices?
Please list the settings along with an attachment of those admin log files.
    Regards
    Dennis
