N97 Mini Available

Just seen a TV advert for the new N97 mini and it was advertised as available on Vodafone. Checking the Nokia UK website, it no longer says available for pre-order and is available.
No sign of availability on the N900 yet though, still pre-order only.

Anyone here would have to be sick in the head to pick up a Mini. It has twice the RAM and everything else is inferior by a factor of 10.
The software is the same, and I think we would all agree that is the largest short coming of the N97.
Not trying to be mean, but, I think we've all learned our lesson given what else is available on the market.
I love my purple screen, 1/2 day battery, sketchy touch screen and $800 price tag - I call it my Lumia 900

N97 mini cherry black colour availability for arab...

Hello, THe N97 mini has been available in the middle east for over a month now. But it is only available in the garnett colour. I asked the local resellers, and Nokia Care about the availability of the cherry black colour, but no body knows.
I really like the phone very much, and was ready to buy it the day it became available. But i need the black colour. I need to know if it will ever be available in the middle east (arabic keyboard), and when.

Any pictures of it?

Available colours for N97 Mini

I was about to purchase a N97 Mini, however the retailer I was going to buy it from offered it to me in White or Pink. According to the official Nokia website, the N97 Mini is only available in Garnet (the coffee brown colour) and Cherry Black.
Are there more than these two colours avilable? I do not want to purchase an illegal product!!

Special editions are released for a variety of reasons, such as a local company's promotions act of some sort for example. These special edition phones often have special apps which come with it alone. These apps are embedded into the firmware. Now because of that, these special edition phones require a specific firmware for it, as they have a different product code from the generic phones. I am not sure how this works, but AFAIK the special edition phones only receive firmware either when the company which chartered the release of the special edition requests for it, or approves the release of the product's firmware update.

N97 mini, no update available?

I've got a norwegian N97 Mini, and I still have not got the newest update for it, v. 11.0.0.45. When will it come to my phone. whenever i try the nokia software updater, it just says i have the newest
one (10 something).
It's been several days, why haven't i got it yet?

different suppliers have handsets 'branded' to there own specification, and will not allow you to update 'till they approve the update, if you go to your local store they may be able to shortcut the system, otherwise you just need to check NSU regulally untill update is 'allowed' on your phone !

N97 Mini update is not available for me !

Hello everyone,
I bought my Nokia N97 mini about 1 year ago
and software's Version was 11.0.045
it was kind of laggy so i made a hard Reset and searched for new Software
I searched through Mobile SW update and Nokia Suite
both of them Detected Software V12.0.110.209.02 so i updated it
but then i found that 30.0.004 was released so i searched again for the new software
but SW Update and Nokia Suite , Both said that all applications are up to date although I don't have latest software
So .. Any help with this problem so I can update to latest Versions ?

What is the keyboard on N97 Mini 0585087

Hello!
If somebody has an N97 Mini with product code 0585087, 0585116 or 0591946 (they are the EMEA_SWISS variants), can you tell me what keyboard it has? QUERTY? Or QUERTZ?

OK. Understood. The reason why I ask is that my phone is PC 0591929 and was a Swiss (QWERTZ) keyboard (it is refered on the list as Country Variant Switzerland CH), and the latest firmware available for it is 10.0.20.
For the PC 0585087, the latest firmware is 11.0.45, which is what I would like to upgrade to... but that phone isn't listed as Switzerland CH, rather it is listed as EMEA_SWISS_QW, which might imply QUERTY keyboard rather than QUERTZ.
Since on the N97 Mini, the keyboard is hardware layout, I don't want to upgrade to a firmware which would change the layout of the keyboard compared to what is physically my phone's layout...

Connection fails between N97 mini and Ovi Suite

Hi,
I have had many kind of problems connecting my N97 mini with my laptop but have finally hitted the edge in this issue and didn't find an answer existing here.
When I updated my Ovi Suite to the latest version the connection to my N97 mini was cutted off. This was maybe two weeks ago and I haven't been able to connect the phone to the laptop with PC suite connection form ever since (and no further updates available). I can sure connect with the Ovi Music in other connection forms and store the music to my phone but any connections with the Ovi Suite fails. There for I cannot sync my photoes or address book or get the new updates by my computer. What could I do to get the connection back? Install an older version again? Where to get one?
Today I checked the program updates with my phone application and there is software version 12.0.110 available to upload. Well, my phone does offer for other updates to "start to update" but this one gives only option to "update via computer" (sorry I don't know the exact terms for the option written in the quotes since I use my Nokia in Finnish ). How could I get the updates to my phone via computer when I cannot connect with the Ovi Suite anymore??
I really hope anyone have had the same problem (it's really irritating) and still hopefully wait for some answers...

Unfortunately there is no easy solution to this one as it is probably de to the installation of the Ovi Suite update on your laptop.
The first thing you could try is to uninstall and reinstall Ovi Suite. You could also try using the PCsuite cleaner which should ensure that the previous installation is properly removed before reinstalling.

Nokia N97 mini firmware

First of all I would like to excuse me for my bad English as I am from Latvia!
Recently I have bought a new Nokia N97 mini. I have backed up everything and written down all the name of software that I afterwards uninstalled as I thought that it would be better for firmware update process. My goal was to update the phone to the newest firmware for my phone, however I got into problems with all the versions available.
So this is the information on my mobile phone:
Software version: v 11.0.102
Software version date: 01-02-2010
Custom version: 11.0.102.C01.01
Custom version date: 01-02-2010
Language set: 13
Model: N97 mini
Type: RM-555
Latest update: Not updated

When I was looking for the latest software release for Nokia N97 Mini it was 12.0.110, however there was mentioned that it is only for certain devices.

If it is possible that there in my device there is a newer custom version (11.0.102.C01.01) installed than my Nokia N97 mini device support (10.0.020) than it should be possible that there is some newer custom firmware (12.0.110) available for my phone.

So where can I obtain it? And speaking generally were (exact internet address of FTP or HTTP protocol handled server, with login information, if needed) all Nokia N97 mini firmware`s could be found? I would even try to install non-customized version 12.0.110 of it on my phone. Maybe I don`t even need any custom version and all Nokia N97 mini devices can handle any Nokia N97 mini firmware?

I can clearly live without Latvian language and as it is well known that there is no special or no at all services or applications for Latvia region that I could miss. I would better use United Kingdom apps and turn off some really unnecessary services or news.
I would`t reply if there were nothing at all from Latvia in phone. I just need to get it work faster and with less problems form software side. I could use any Nokia N97 mini update version that doesn`t have "Comes with music" services and apps as I don`t have license to it.

N97 mini video in Flash

Hi, I have a problem with my nokia.. n97 mini should play Flash video... my phone play video on website such as youtube, but in other its doesn't work, I can't see picture..., only icon ,,F". Can I do something to repair this or I must send phone to service?

The only Nokia phone that I know of that has full flash support (rather than flash lite) is the N900 but according to the specification sheet it's only at version 9.4 (the latest being Flash 11). However, there is a version 10.1 available for download for the N900.
All other Nokia phones will only have flash lite 4 or no flash player at all for the low end models.

N97 mini language issue

I bought the N97 mini in Australia, in which the default language is Engliash. Since the N97 is not only a mobile phone, it is also a "net book" to browse internet. It is really frustrated that the handset does not support non-English. Can I install other language package?

Language packs are not available to end user to install themselves , only a Nokia care point can do it. So please visit your nearest Nokia care point and let them do it for you.

How to rename mailbox in N97 mini

I set 3 mailboxex with the automatic configuration wizard in N97 mini. The mailboxex have been automatically named by the SW. Can someone tell me how to rename them?

Sorry, but this functionality is not available. It is limited by the device firmware.

N97 Mini navigation stopped working

I have N97 Mini (firmware 12.0.110.C01.01), and the navigation used to work very nicely, until recently.
Funny thing is that it really gets the GPS lock. The voice guidance gives you the exact instructions where to turn and one of the screens work ok (the one, which shows the next action in symbols and writing). But the other screens are not updated. E.g. the speed indicator may freeze to some fixed value (today I was frightened when it showed 89 km/h in 50 km/h limit zone, while the voice guidance was still working, in reality it was below 50. It stayed 89 for as long as I was in the same screen).
If I remember correctly, the background of the areas outside the map were black, when it worked. Now the background is grey.
I have the Ovi -account active in the phone, internet APN is available and working. GPS gets the signal locked. But my location is not updated on the map.

New N97 Mini: Camera Problem

Hi!
I just bought an N97 Mini and have been having problems with the camera.
Whenever I use the camera, it works fine until I am done with it and close the application. When I immediately need to use the camera again, the camera application shows a black screen, with then normal camera controls still present (though unresponsive). It is frozen.
I have already performed the hard reset and other measures mentioned by folks here. I have also completed the latest firmware update.
What else can I do? Is there an upcoming firmware fix for this?

N97 mini can't recognize m4a file?

I had my n97 mini updated to the lastest software. I used nero to make a m4a music file (the encodec is eaac+, that is, HE-ACC v2) and transfered it to my n97 mini, via ovi suite sync.
Then I found that I can't play it in the music application: It just can't find the file in the music library. Though I can use it as a ringtone (or a alarm clock sound) and it can be played normally.
Could anyone shed some light on this?

Yep, I checked everything you mentioned and it was all set as you suggested. But I took the battery out and left it for a min., restarted and it now isn't connecting through WiFi, result!! It was a very odd one this problem, thanks for the info........as far as Homescreen Options go I've gone to the Help option and it states "The available options may vary" which might explain the differences between handsets.
Again, apologies for cross-posting but has anyone found a way ot update the firmware with Code: 0591336 (Voda branded)? Nokia website states firmware to be 11.0.*.*.* but via Software Updater and also Ovi Suite it's only showning 10.0.*.*.* I do know Vodafone have released their branded version of this update but it still updates through Software Updater so I'm back to square one.....any thoughts?

N97 Mini Bluetooth problems

Hi: I have used to have a N86 which worked flawlessly with my 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander Handsfree system. But when I changed my phone to the N97 mini, it pairs fine but doesn't work properly.
When I call manually from the phone, the handsfree takes over and I can carry on conversation with the handsfree.
When I initiate a call from my car's voice activated handsfree bluetooth, nothing happens with the phone. It freezes my handsfree (radio) for two minutes. Then after two minutes, my phone says disconnected from handsfree, then reconnects automatically. I still cannot initiate a call from the car. But i can still call out as aforementioned.
When I receive a call in the car, the handsfree engages my phone as it should. So no problem receiving calls.
Please advise if this is a bug with the N97 becuase I have no problems with the N86.

Well, - I'm having the same problem as described in the first post. The N97 mini connects flawlessly with some PCs, headsets, and handsfree car systems.
I disagree with the purpose of remote SIM mode as before mentioned. Remote SIM access is to support the rSAP (remote SIM access profile) installed in some premium handsfree systems (like in my Skoda Superb) and basically lets the handsfree system 'steal' your SIM, including PIN etc. over BT for use with its own built in phone.
But in my new Mazda MX-5 I am having trouble to place calls with the handsfree car system. It is not a rSAP capable system and I have tried with and without rSAP in the N97 mini enabled, to no avail.
The N97 mini pairs fine and I can receive incoming calls. Also, I can place calls from the device itself, but when I try to place a call over the car's handsfree system it basically freezes for a few minutes before the car system throws an error. During these minutes I can see on the car display that it looses connection to the phone, albeit the N97 mini still shows connected state. Once these 1 or 2 minutes have passed, the phone shows disconnected, and then reconnects immediately. By experimenting a bit, I found that when I change the BT visibility, from not visible to visible or vice versa, during those minutes, the phone catches up with the number and dials.
And yes, my N97 mini is on the latest FW (12.0.110).
It's a pity that this problem is obviously already so old, that I have little hope Nokia is going to fix it. My old 6600i slide, and my wifes 6131 are working like a charm, unfortunately I need the N97 mini to work for other reasons ...
Despite I don't know if the N8 would work, it's not an option since it's not supported by PC Suite anymore, thus doesn't synchronize with Lotus Notes, which is what I need at work.
